BIOGRAPHY
Born in 6938 on Sahmina to immigrant, merchant parents, much of Marina's life was spent in and around the city of Jhenali, Sahmina's trading capital, and cosmopolitan centre.
Fleeing the war but only making it so far, Marina's parents were forced to settle on Sahmina, even as it lay under the thumb of the Jedi Exiles. While warmed by the locals initially, consistent uprisings and revolts against the planets rulers often bred tension and violence toward outsiders like her family.
Not all though were against them, indeed, in the years of the war many others had flocked to Jhendali like her own family and found sympathetic faces, especially among the planets brewing rebellion, who detested not mere the Exiles and their Royalist allies, but much of the institutions of class and slavery that had brewed over the centuries and come to a head under the Exile run Taginshah reign. And that was where Marina would find her first allies.
In the aftermath of the Hundred Years Darkness, and with the failing regime unable to keep its violent rule any longer, The Zharran Rebellions broke out across the world, and in Jhendali they would prove both vicious and radical.
Immigrant and refugee families such as her own had been brutally repressed under the Taginshah regime, seen as threats to the monarchy, outsiders to the culture. Here was the chance of a new world, one that would welcome not only her and her family but the wider galaxy, one that would join the galactic community by choice, not force, like the Exile's had instituted.
And so she took to the streets, along with thousands upon thousands of others, Jhendali erupting in civil war that lasted years. She had known no other home, her parents had never spoken of where they had fled from, doing their best to integrate, to be Sahminian, and so she was one herself, she knew no other identity. She had the accent to prove it. And so when the planet fell to chaos around her, and its people were kept beneath a tyrants boot, she couldn't help but stand with them to push back.
This was her life for nearly a decade, as the civil war ravaged the planet, dozens of factions vying for their new Sahmina, forging Marina into someone new. She'd have been a labourer, an assistant to some merchant lord, taken over her parents business, something expected. After this, after seeing and living the bloodiest of wars, she had changed, hopefully for the better.
Even then, all was not so simple.
During the conflict, in a moment of desperation Marina discovered her force sensitivity. Trapped under rubble she'd managed to force away the duracrete debris that otherwise would have seen her crushed. She had wnated to run, flee now force had found her, the weapon of their oppressors. She didn't dare until the war was over though, hiding her talents, worrying that others might fear her for it. Whether she was right to worry did not matter, but she knew that at wars end she would leave this planet, and know how to harness these abilities at the hands of the Jedi, the enemy of her enemy.
She was right to do so, for following the war even Emir Sumil cracked down harshly against both Jedi and Exiles, treating them as enemy combatants if associated with either, and proving one wasn't was never easy as a force user, and all were still eyed with suspicion by the government.
And so, following the Tragedy at Ilum and the subsequent formation of the Sumil government, Marina left, taking little but her rifle from the war, and the ship her family had flown in on.
Having now only completed her training as a Jedi, learning what she could in the temple halls, in conversation with Knights and Masters both, out roaming the galaxy as a member of the Order with the likes of Master Shai, among so many others, she finds herself in a galaxy where the Exiles are resurgent, and the memories of the war all too present in her mind.

PERSONALITY
Before the Rebellions, before the decades long civil war, Marina hadn't been so direct. Calm, joyful, with a rapturous laugh, despite the questioning she faced at times, Marina was a hopeful spirit, and still was, when the time was right. It was hard to be a revolutionary without it.
And even now as part of the Jedi Order she retained that drive to be better, to make things better, that this galaxy was worth something. And Sahmina had just been the beginning.
But the war had left its mark, how could it not? With violence, and the suffering that came with so many friends lost Marina was harder now, more committed to her goals, few boundaries would stop her. Ready to consort with criminals and smugglers Marina has lived through supply problems and scarcity long enough to know that sometimes are desperate times, and if both parties could get what they needed then there was nothing else to say.
Their were limits though, heavy ones. She'd seen to many suffer now to wish it on anyone, though believed there could be times where it was necessary. And against the Exiles she would not suffer there violence against anyone, for she knew what it could do. It was this, that war against them, years so dedicated to it when it was just her and a rifle, no meddling force to get in the way, that kept her from daring to follow them across the threshold of darkness. She wouldn't become her own oppressor, and she'd free others from it when she found it.
Perhaps she was ideological, though she knew the value of compromise. Sahmina had been a compromise and the government they'd left had abolished slavery, that was better than nothing. And so she'd believe that now as part of the Order too. Better to make life better now, somehow, than dream of a far off utopia.
The Zharran Rebellions had pulled away many close friends and allies, though that means Marina treasures hers dearly, trusting slow but ready to look out for even an ally of happenstance, these were things she'd learnt as Jhendali had burned.
Still though, her older self was there, if you knew where to look. Sometimes it just took a while to let itself out.
