BIOGRAPHY
Born in 6938 on Sahmina to immigrant, merchant parents, much of Marina's life was spent in and around the city of Jhenali, Sahmina's trading capital, and cosmopolitan centre.

Fleeing the war but only making it so far, Marina's parents were forced to settle on Sahmina, even as it lay under the thumb of the Jedi Exiles. While warmed by the locals initially, consistent uprisings and revolts against the planets rulers often bred tension and violence toward outsiders like her family.

Not all though were against them, indeed, in the years of the war many others had flocked to Jhendali like her own family and found sympathetic faces, especially among the planets brewing rebellion, who detested not mere the Exiles and their Royalist allies, but much of the institutions of class and slavery that had brewed over the centuries and come to a head under the Exile run Taginshah reign. And that was where Marina would find her first allies.

In the aftermath of the Hundred Years Darkness, and with the failing regime unable to keep its violent rule any longer, The Zharran Rebellions broke out across the world, and in Jhendali they would prove both vicious and radical.

Immigrant and refugee families such as her own had been brutally repressed under the Taginshah regime, seen as threats to the monarchy, outsiders to the culture. Here was the chance of a new world, one that would welcome not only her and her family but the wider galaxy, one that would join the galactic community by choice, not force, like the Exile's had instituted.

And so she took to the streets, along with thousands upon thousands of others, Jhendali erupting in civil war that lasted years. She had known no other home, her parents had never spoken of where they had fled from, doing their best to integrate, to be Sahminian, and so she was one herself, she knew no other identity. She had the accent to prove it. And so when the planet fell to chaos around her, and its people were kept beneath a tyrants boot, she couldn't help but stand with them to push back.

This was her life for nearly a decade, as the civil war ravaged the planet, dozens of factions vying for their new Sahmina, forging Marina into someone new. She'd have been a labourer, an assistant to some merchant lord, taken over her parents business, something expected. After this, after seeing and living the bloodiest of wars, she had changed, hopefully for the better.
Even then, all was not so simple.

During the conflict, in a moment of desperation Marina discovered her force sensitivity. Trapped under rubble she'd managed to force away the duracrete debris that otherwise would have seen her crushed. She had wnated to run, flee now force had found her, the weapon of their oppressors. She didn't dare until the war was over though, hiding her talents, worrying that others might fear her for it. Whether she was right to worry did not matter, but she knew that at wars end she would leave this planet, and know how to harness these abilities at the hands of the Jedi, the enemy of her enemy.

She was right to do so, for following the war even Emir Sumil cracked down harshly against both Jedi and Exiles, treating them as enemy combatants if associated with either, and proving one wasn't was never easy as a force user, and all were still eyed with suspicion by the government.

And so, following the Tragedy at Ilum and the subsequent formation of the Sumil government, Marina left, taking little but her rifle from the war, and the ship her family had flown in on.

Having now only completed her training as a Jedi, learning what she could in the temple halls, in conversation with Knights and Masters both, out roaming the galaxy as a member of the Order with the likes of Master Shai, among so many others, she finds herself in a galaxy where the Exiles are resurgent, and the memories of the war all too present in her mind.
PERSONALITY
Before the Rebellions, before the decades long civil war, Marina hadn't been so direct. Calm, joyful, with a rapturous laugh, despite the questioning she faced at times, Marina was a hopeful spirit, and still was, when the time was right. It was hard to be a revolutionary without it.

And even now as part of the Jedi Order she retained that drive to be better, to make things better, that this galaxy was worth something. And Sahmina had just been the beginning.

But the war had left its mark, how could it not? With violence, and the suffering that came with so many friends lost Marina was harder now, more committed to her goals, few boundaries would stop her. Ready to consort with criminals and smugglers Marina has lived through supply problems and scarcity long enough to know that sometimes are desperate times, and if both parties could get what they needed then there was nothing else to say.

Their were limits though, heavy ones. She'd seen to many suffer now to wish it on anyone, though believed there could be times where it was necessary. And against the Exiles she would not suffer there violence against anyone, for she knew what it could do. It was this, that war against them, years so dedicated to it when it was just her and a rifle, no meddling force to get in the way, that kept her from daring to follow them across the threshold of darkness. She wouldn't become her own oppressor, and she'd free others from it when she found it.

Perhaps she was ideological, though she knew the value of compromise. Sahmina had been a compromise and the government they'd left had abolished slavery, that was better than nothing. And so she'd believe that now as part of the Order too. Better to make life better now, somehow, than dream of a far off utopia.

The Zharran Rebellions had pulled away many close friends and allies, though that means Marina treasures hers dearly, trusting slow but ready to look out for even an ally of happenstance, these were things she'd learnt as Jhendali had burned.

Still though, her older self was there, if you knew where to look. Sometimes it just took a while to let itself out.

Sahminian Rebel Armour

During the Zharran Rebellions on Sahmina, the revolutionary forces on the ground were up against the Janissary Corps and the Osmani Fleet under the rule of Emir Taginshah, and had little access to any real miltary technology. The armour they had to compensate with was scavenged together from what they could take from the dead, mercenaries, and caches smuggled in from off planet. These sets were unique to every rebel soldier in the early days of the war all the way to the end, except for the blue Zharran flower symbol often worn on their lapel, and a generally rugged and resilient for wear in the heavy fighting.

LEGALITY

While in some ways ingerently illegal, being armour worn by the government opposition, the actual pieces of armour the sets were built from were largely legal, though given the customisable nature of the uniforms this is largely dependant on specifics.

INTENT

With this armour I intend to create a piece that combines (in functionally a combined re-skin) the coverage and and style of the Jedi Dueling Armour and Jedi Stealth Armour, into a piece specifically tied to both my characters backstory, suits that particularly scrappy 'partisan/revolutionary' style that is otherwise missing, as well as fleshing out the Zharran Rebellions of Sahmina with their own character. Equally, there are few armour sets of higher coverage with no functions, which this would also fill.

ADVANCED TECH
No

Jedi Energy Shield

Affiliation:
Jedi Order.

Manufacturer:
Order Craftsmen.

Type:
Portable Energy Shield.

Power Supply:
Battery.

Sensors:
None.

Size:
1.5 Metres Height,
0.6 Metres Width.

Composition:
Plasteel Emitter,
Shaped Ray Shield.

DESCRIPTION
Based on a pre-Darkness Jedi Order design, these portable energy shields are one of the few available in the galaxy at large, crafted at great effort and expense. Though a number were used throughout the Hundred Years of Darkness by warriors of the Jedi Order, most have been lost to time, and to build them anew is both difficult and costly.

LEGALITY
Legal, though a deeply rare sight in the galaxy.

INTENT
Re-skin of the Portable Energy Shield to accommodate a more fitting aesthetic style for Jedi Order use, specifically for use by Vollen Shai, which I think also provides some nice texture to the Order's martial styles, letting that classic 'sword and shield' Knight image be playable.

ADVANCED TECH
Yes, extremely rare to find, likely only in the most hidden of Jedi Temples. And likewise to craft, needing a master craftsmen, and the correct materials present.

S5 “Lost Star” Jedi Order Starship

AFFILIATION
Jedi Order

MANUFACTURER
Salissa Manafacturer (Now Defunct)

CLASS
Fighter/Patrol Ship

ROLE
A mix between the fighter and patrol class styles of ship, the S5 line was designed specifically for use by the Jedi Order before the Hundred Years of Darkness. It’s small size and manoeuvrability yet relatively strong armament meant it was a welcome sight for patrol around Jedi Temples, rapid insertion transport for individual Knights into hot zones, limited dogfighting, as well air support if the situation called for it.

The intent was to provide an all-rounder ship that could act as a symbol for the Order as they acted throughout the galaxy, a ship that could bring hope in any situation knowing that a Jedi was piloting it.

COMPOSITION
Durasteel and Laministeel

DIMENSIONS
14x20x14 (with Hyperdrive in active position)
14x20x7 (with Hyperdrive in deactivated position)

CREW
1x pilot
1x Gunner/Navigator (could be filled by droid)

PASSENGER CAPACITY
None.

CARGO CAPACITY
None.

HANGAR CAPACITY
None.

CONSUMABLES
2 Days.

SPEED/MANEUVERABILITY
90 MGLT/Highly manoeuvrable (Hyperdrive deactivated)
80 MGLT/Moderate manoeuvrability (Hyperdrive activated)

ARMAMENT

  • 2x Dual Laser Cannons (wing mounted)
  • 1x Undermounted Ion Cannon

EQUIPMENT
  • 1x Chaff Launcher (2 uses per load, wing mounted)
  • Class 8 Hyperdrive
  • Military Shielding
  • 1x Detachable Cabin/Escape Pod

DESCRIPTION
In the early days of the Republic and Jedi alliance before the Darkness, the Jedi sought to set themselves apart from the overall Republic military structure, and act as beacons to the galaxy. And so, the S5 was born.

Utilising Republic military technology provided as part of this alliance, the Jedi Order commissioned Salissa Manafacturuers to make them a distinctive starship for the Jedi Order, one that could serve as a symbol of the Order as it took to the stars and served the galaxy.

So then, an all-rounder ship was designed, meant quick insertion and survivability for its pilots as they entered into dangerous situations across the galaxy. It was not meant to be a heavily armed vessel of war, as this was thought to be the wrong focus for the Order, even during the war.

So, it was equipped minimally with Dual Cannons, but otherwise added an Ion Cannon for non-lethal damage, as well as strong defensive shields and Chaff Launchers for escape, the safety of the pilot held upmost in the Orders mind. A Hyperdrive was added, though not as a core feature of the ship, interstellar speeds loosing out to a focus on manoeuvrability and sub-light speed. However this had the requirement of needing either a co-pilot or droid companion (many Jedi taking up the latter, explaining its cross between fighter and patrol ship).

Given its intentionally cross-purposes as a fighter/patrol ship, the lower, vertical wing raises when the S5 is in attack position, increasing maneuovrability. Though for the ship to go to Hyperspace this foil must be lowered to activate the Drive.

However, given the onboard equipment, few of these fighters were ever made, and given to only the most trusted of the Order. They served both a functional and symbolic purpose, and would often be included in some form in both larger and smaller manoeuvres, so signify Jedi involvement. The Darkness however took its toll, and few now remain after the war, Salissa going into bankruptcy, partly given the high cost and low demand of the S5 itself, and few companies are willing to restart manafacturing the S5 given its history and assoccitation now.

More than half the fleet S5 fleet was lost in a disastrous manoeuvre over an unlisted star system in the Outer Rim, Jedi forced trying to hold off against a superior Exile fleet as it attempted to manoeuvre themselves into position to strike against the Republic from an unprotected position. While they succeeeded in holding them at bat, so many were destroyed they earned the moniker throughout the Order of ‘Lost Star’ in reference to the now unknown location of their destruction.

LEGALITY
During its production run, the S5 was restricted to use exclusively by the Jedi Order, and properly trained ones at that. Given its military equipment its was illegal to carry without authorisation. Even now it is out of production the tech aboard makes this case unchanged.

INTENT
The intent was to begin fleshing out the armoury of the pre/mid-Darkness Jedi, when they were at the height of their power and influence on the galaxy. And, in doing so, provide some high level rewards and equipment for Jedi characters that are particularly suited to them, serving to provide the faction with a distinct look and style all their own. By making them intentionally an advanced tech, it plays into that sort of “reclaiming lost glory” idea which I think fits the Jedi very well this timeline.

ADVANCED TECH
Yes. The military equipment and relative speed and firepower carried by the star fighter make this a highly sought after ship, though not one easily obtainable given it is no longer in production since the Darkness. To acquire nowadays would reuire one to scavenge lost Jedi temples, or find the original specifications from Salissa Manafacturers, and a mechanic willing to build it.

Plot Outline Submission Template:

1. What is going to happen in your plot?

With the Jedi Order's influence expanding over the deep core, holding Tython and in alliance with Prakith, among other efforts there, the time has come to unite this realm of space into something more: An Alliance.

Offering their assistance to those remaining planets in the Core, the Jedi use this diplomatic leverage to convene a meeting of the leaders of these Core worlds. Meeting aboard the first ship of the nascent Jedi fleet, the Redemption, the Jedi will navigate the politics of the gathered worlds: Pollillus, Vulpter, Ojom, Khomm, Constancia, Kalist, Byss, as well as other, smaller worlds of the Deep Core; and unite them together with the Jedi Order to form the 'Core League', a economic and defensive union pledged to defend eachother.

2. What other players will be a part of this?

Will look for interest.

3. Where are all the places (if more than one) that your plot will be taking place?

Deep Core
Jedi Ship, Redemption
Pollillus
Khomm, Heh'l City
Constancia
Ojom
Vulpter

4. Please provide a basic in-character timeline of what you expect to happen.

ASK - A Hard Days Night: The criminal underground of Pollillus has struck its capital city. The Jedi have been called in to bring them down as the dastardly crime lord and his cronies attack the capital. Fight off the crime lords troops in the bombed out city streets and defeat them to end this threat. 2 Jedi. Lucian Volante. Austin Wolfe. - Complete

ASK - Help!: Disaster on Khomm. An earthquake has set off Tsunami detectors near the populous city of Heh'l. Jedi are working to assist the final evacuation efforts as the Tsunami closes in. 2 Jedi. Vollen Shai. Bruce Guleya. - Complete

ASK - Revolution: On Constancia, a deeply authoritarian government has seized control, but a revolution has swelled up to bring democracy back. The Jedi Order has pledged assistance to the uprising, and has sent its own to assist in the storming of the palace as the revolution comes to a close. 2 Jedi. Austin Wolfe. Fiona MacBheathain. In Progress.

ASK - Don't Let Me Down: The Prime Minister of Ojom needs help parleying with the opposition, who are threatening to shut down parliament. Jedi have been brought in to work as mediators and settle the constitutional crisis. 2 Jedi. Jubba. Grug. In Progress.

ASk - Across the Universe: Vulpter has ordered new capital ships be ordered for its personal fleet, arming itself in this war ready galaxy. Given their proximity, the Jedi have been asked to help escort the ship as it makes its last flight to the skies over Vulpter to join the rest of the fleet. 2 Jedi. Lucian Volante. Telunaris. - Complete

ASK - Come Together: Aboard the Redemption, Jedi Leadership meets with representatives of the Core Worlds to finalise their alliance into the Core League. 2 Jedi. Vollen Shai. Fennex Zeerda.

5. What do you or your character hope to achieve with this plot? What is the "end-game"?

With Tython controlled and Prakith now allied, as well as ongoing plots/mission packs focusing on Kalist and Byss, this would bring the rest of the Deep Core fully into alliance with the Jedi Order, establishing it as effectively Jedi territory, and providing the Jedi with strong alliances and forces as they rebuild and reestablish themselves in the galaxy.

6. Do you need any involvement of canon NPCs or faction leaders to be DMed by a staff member? If so, please detail who/what and for what purpose.

The leaders of the planets will likely need a staff dm for thread 5, but otherwise dice should hopefully be sufficient as we're not actually taking over the planets, but allying with them.

BIOGRAPHY
While primarily engaged in creating the Peacekeeper Droids for the Jedi Order, Correllian Intergalactic Robotics dabbled in a few other variations of this particular design to fill other niches the Order had need for. While none were mass produced, many were still found out in the wild, their original design altered most notably with new, often strangely affecting, programming to change their skills to fit needs. However, this alteration onto a model already prone to personality quirks did not make this problem go away, often exacerbating it in some form of another, usually unpredictably.

With this we can understand the basics of how Mac came to be, though it’s probably not how they’d tell it. Acerbic, edgy, and fully optimised for piloting, Mac is not a droid comfortable with sitting around, like most of the JD’s.. And yet that he had to, for far too long, lost to time in the catacombs of a Jedi Temple on Devaron, listless as he remained strapped into the pilots seat of an S5 Jedi Starfighter, too conscientious to leave but too restless to simply turn himself off, Mac kept the damn ship in working order in the decades that went by, and wander off more than a few sinister looking intruders too.

Eventually discovered by Jedi Master Vollen Shai, Mac still to this day has not left the cockpit of the S5, now dubbed the “Homeward Bound”, but has found a host of new tasks to keep his ever bristly personality occupied, and can often be heard directing repairs and refits to hangar staff from his seat inside the ship, the Scottish affectation in his vocoder echoing throughout the halls. While his aim has weakened somewhat over the years, his pilots mind has not. Invaluable in the air, and loyal to a man, Vollen wouldn’t part with his friend Mac for the world.

BIOGRAPHY
Harlan Banks is a man on the run, a man in debt, and a man with a talent for falling into trouble.

A sketchy childhood flows into an only slightly more recognisable set of teenage years, Harlan himself making his way through school only at the urgings of his parents. Though not one to take orders (not unless there was something important to him on the line) Harlan breezed through with the least effort required, his true focus on a small, and highly questionable, business he had begun with a trio of friends that shared a similar focus as he did: freedom. Well, freedom with a caveat. Freedom required profits. Choking under the yoke of a life he didn't love he longed only to escape it, and did so in any way he could find. That meant an outlet in adventure, alcohol, and all kinds of spice he could acquire.

And so, in the roar of his hazy early twenties Harlan experienced the seedier underbelly of his home planet Fondor, falling further and further into dealings with those who could help his habits, and getting himself into trouble as a result. His fullest memory from that time was around 25 or 26, Harlan still isn't quite sure, being dragged from his speeder in the remains of an abandoned drydock in Fondor's lower city. Beaten, broken, and bruised for his debts Harlan lived off what funds he could years as he recurperated from his habit. Though eventually turning clean, Harlan didn't say goodbye to the spice so easily, he just funneled it in other directions.

In the intervening years Harlan made it off world, running with more groups and gangs as he passed through the galaxies lower rungs, never securing himself in any position or planet. For a long time he drifted, getting with small deals and runs that managed to keep him on the move, and out of the way of galactic enforcement. Though just keeping his head above water wasn't exactly Harlan's plan. To live, not just survive, and he meant to do it on his own terms.

Taking out a loan from the Hutts he meant to secure himself the largest load of spice he could get his hands on. With the profits he would have paid them back easily and set himself up as an independent, securing his own assets where he could.

This did not go to plan.

And now, with the money gone and nothing to show for it, the choice of serve or die lay before him, Harlan has taken the former. With a begrudging smile and huff Harlan Banks finds himself at the bottom rung of the Hutt Cartel, ready to make his way up, or out, or both, so long as he doesn't die on the way.
PERSONALITY
Somehow described as charming and charmless all in one, Harlan has not ever found himself to be the most pleasant in a room, but with a happy go lucky attitude and a rebellious streak, he's just as likely to stick around and save you as he is to steal your ship. Despite his many, many failings he's managed to keep an air of positivity and optimism, even when part of the galactic underworld.
Never one to turn an offer down, Harlan could be described as somewhat greedy, though will drop cash and gear in a heartbeat if that means getting out alive, or in the nick of time. That said, Banks is not a man who has ever been particularly comfortable with killing, though this has not stopped him on occasion. But, if the situation presents itself for another way, he tends to take it, and indeed he finds his new role and orders from the Cartel at times quite distasteful. But his will to live is high enough that he isn't intending to cross them anytime soon.

Similarly, he is not a man comfortable with debt, be that personal or financial, and would much rather be square and off on his own way then beholden to others where he can. His success on this particular front is rather low.

SKILLS

A talker, a joker, and a thief, though never quite mastering any of them, Harlan has seemed to fall between jobs and teams, and into whatever role they needed him to be. Whether that meant actually learning the skill or simply bluffing his way through it he did either, and so now sits with a variety of know how in a dozen areas, though jack of all trades would still be a generous title for Harlan.

If all else fails, he talks. And talks. And talks. And so far its working out, well, he's still alive, at least. A decent shot, a decent punch, and a solid businessman, these are all Banks has ever really claimed for himself. And so far they've been just enough to see him through. Whether they'll be enough to let him survive in the Cartel? That was another story.

Light Step

Excerpt · Applications · Limitations & Drawbacks · Learning · Intent

Light Step is the ability to subsume oneself into the cosmic force for a time to travel instantaneously from location to another through the medium of the force itself. Few in history have ever mastered such a power, and indeed its knowledge and learning is not one to merely be stumbled upon, known by Masters of old and few, if any, now.

_

Known Applications

Light Step allows the user to subsist their whole self into the Cosmic Force, merging their body and self with that same energy field that binds all things, dissapearing and reappearing in a warp of the air around them, often said to be golden or pure white. This allows the user to travel instantly from one location to another, though often at great effort, the amount of which depending on the distance to be traveled.

Short distances (defined as moving a few meters in any direction) require the least amount of stamina and can be preformed a multitude of times, depending on the skill of the user, before exhaustion occurs. Such uses are typically made as entrances or exits, either for dramatic effect or to inspire awe and mysticism in those who witness it.

To move greater distances—for example, to another room in the same building—requires greater concentration and stamina. The user must be able to envision the room (in this example) that they intend to travel to and hold the image in their head as they teleport. As a result, it is rare for anyone outside of a Master Force-user to be seen using the technique in this fashion. However, even for Masters, this technique is taxing and generally two-to-three uses will exhaust a user of their stamina.

The strongest users of the Force — such as Jedi Grandmasters or others of similar power and skill in the force — can use this ability to move themselves from one location to another anywhere on the planet they are currently located. However, such a usage is rare, as, even for the strongest Force users, moving so far is highly taxing and drains all of their stamina—requiring them to rest after doing so. Additionally, they must still envision their destination perfectly and be able to hold this image in their mind as they preform the technique.

Limitations and Drawbacks

Much like high level uses of Force Light, Light Step is an extension of a Jedi's connection to the force, and their ability to lose their conscious selves and egos and fully integrate into the Force present in the universe. Given this, it cannot be used by a member of the dark side of the force, or indeed even Jedi whose commitment to the light is at all faltering or in question, as to allow oneself to be assimilated into the cosmic force requires a true loss of self in an almost literal fashion, and so would be antithesis to the more selfish dark side uses of the force, or those without complete commitment and acceptance to this philosophy of no-self.

Light Step is a highly difficult force power to learn or master, and the drain on the will of the user can be incredibly high even for smaller uses.

Indeed, continued or ongoing use of Light Step can lead to the user losing their distinctive individuality, slowly losing themselves as they experience the universe from the cosmic perspective of the force, losing their passions and personality and becoming almost emotionless beings who only act on their tasks and goals, becoming quite literal agents of the force as their understanding of the universe becomes lost between their two sets of experiences.

Learning

This technique currently remains only teachable through the information gleaned from the holocron of Master Saul Vertus, a long deceased Jedi who is believed to have imparted his wisdom into it before becoming one with the force. Otherwise, it might be learnt by high level users of the Light Side of The Force, given sufficient study, mediation, and introspection, though this would be even harder and require the Jedi to be in the right mindset before even considering attempting to do so, and would never be accidentally manifested given the focus and philosophy needed to truly merge oneself into the force, even for a moment.

Intent

To provide Jedi with a power similar to Teleport in ability, but written specifically for the light side (though I have used much of the writeup for describing what the power can do, giving the Jedi a matching power in terms of ability), and possibly to be learnt my character via a plot.

Vollen Shai

Excerpt · Biography · Personality and traits · Powers and abilities · Equipment · Roleplays

Vollen Shai (/shy/), a Force-sensitive male human, was a Jedi Master active during the final years of the Hundred-Year Darkness, and the rise of the first Sith Empire. At first the bookish partner of a more warrior focused Master, Vollen changed greatly in the years following the Darkness, becoming more forthright and in tune with the force, working to assist the Jedi Order in a more active role, seeing himself as a guardian of the Order in many ways. Such changes were facilitated through the assistance of more experienced Jedi, and the responsibilities of Mastery when he was raised to such a role within the Order. During the shadow war between the Jedi Order and the fledgling Sith Order, he served first as a Master in the Jedi Order.

Biography

Born in hyperspace to trader parents, Vollen spent most of his life aboard dozens of ships, shuttling back and forth between the inner and outer rim. His parents never kept any one ship for too long, nor any trade routes or contacts, constantly moving to avoid the war that had kept their trade vital, yet desperate.

Vollen’s home then was nowhere, flitting between worlds, ships, and jobs the family never settled anywhere long enough to make themselves at ease, and were often away from Vollen for long periods of time. While leaving him quite self-reliant, it also left him limited in forming attachments.
Never receiving a formal education, Vollen read voraciously from any books and holonet access he could acquire. In doing so he read on a wide range of subjects, though always drawn to history and other more abstract topics. It was on books that he first learnt of the force in any substantive way, the war affecting those outside it in the galaxy so much so that any discourse Vollen was privy to in his travels necessarily spoke of the Jedi negatively, and dismissed the force regularly.

Though his first interaction with the Jedi would not be a pleasant one. Arriving on Corellia in 6909 BBY, his parents were pressed into service as part of the Grand Army of the Republic, while he himself was conscripted by a Jedi Guardian of similar age, Cala Nevas. Sensing his potential in the force, she pulled him away from what might have remained of his old life, his parents, and into the arms of the Jedi (now desperate for recruits to finish the war with the Exiles).
Vollen has had no contact with his parents ever since, and has no knowledge of their fate following the war.

The following years saw Vollen take wholeheartedly to the Jedi, despite initial struggles this life suited him. And he and Cala were partnered together both instructionally and as part of expeditions or missions, both learning and developing together, their bond growing deeply. Many days and nights were spent in solely eachothers company. Indeed this led to some questioning from others within the order, but with the state of the Jedi no actions were taken against them.
Though the Jedi preach detachment from desires and relationships, Vollen had found both as part of the Jedi, giving him a stability and familial feeling he had lacked growing up, and so the Jedi inadvertently providing Vollen what they stressed he should deny: a partner in Cala, a family in the Order.

Where Cala would fight, Vollen would be her support, often joining her through meditation by which they together joined their thoughts and feelings, focusing her in battle and strengthening each others resolve. Such bonds echoed through the force, though the Order was powerless to stop it until the war was won.

Vollen had otherwise thrown himself into studies, much as he had done in his previous life.
And so it was, until Ilum. Cala was called, along with so many of her Gaurdian ilk, to finish the fight on the surface of Ilum. While Vollen did not join her on the surface, from a ship in orbit he joined her just as before, through meditation, seeing the battle as she did, sensing the force around and within her, focusing and directing it. But victory would not come, and when a wave of energy burst from the crystal it took Cala away.

It’s effects on her rippling back through their bond in the force, and tearing him away. Vollen had screamed as he felt the energy press through, as if lightning shot through his arms and a great weight fell upon him.

When the pain stopped he reached out for her, but there was nothing. Indeed, merely reaching out with the force seemed entirely beyond his grasp. It was as if the universe had fallen over him, pressing him down. He felt deafened from the force, cut off as Cala had been cut away from everything else. His arms would shake, his mind would not focus, and for months he worked slowly to regain what he had lost, long sessions of meditation and thought in Ossus’s temples and wilds, reaching out with his feelings. He retained one last reminder of Cala, the crystal from her lightsaber, recovered from Ilum and now worn around his neck. It seemed to him that only through this was he able to reestablish his connection to the force, a conduit between him and the cosmic force, as she had been for him in life. Though this he did not dare speak to the Jedi.

Vollen returned to the great library at Ossus, working to maintain what he can of the Orders wisdom, to protect it in the face of the darkness, as he failed to do so for Cala.

However, with the changing face of the galaxy, such a state could only last so long. Wrested from his self-imposed hiatus to attend the Jedi Conclaves, Vollen soon found himself working alongside a number of esteemed and infamous Jedi from he learnt greatly, and began to reintegrate and take a leading role within this new generation of Jedi after the Darkness. Missions on Balmorra, Devaron, and Corulag saw him begin to see in himself the potential he could show, reclaiming his connection to the force, and equally bringing him further into the fold of the Order, deepening his connection to it and steering him on the path he would follow for the rest of his life.

The rank of Master was thrust upon him suddenly it seemed, the Council seeing something within him he did not, could not yet. But the responsibility of the role was something Vollen seemed to find himself suited for, stepping up in his role as a member of the Order to live up to the rank he now held. And so he did, the pain of losing Cala subisding somewhat, Vollen gave his whole heart now to the Order, and the people of the galaxy they worked to serve.

Despite taking roles as part of Jedi successes, notably on Ellora and Tython, and fostering connections in the senate, Vollen often found himself standing in the centre of the Order's destruction from the Sith, first on Ossus, and on Jedha. Such losses he took on as his own failings, along with his own personal falterings in the Alderaan Investigation pushed him to deep reflection, even as he continued his work. But through the council of his peers he recognised in himself such failings were only temporary, that only by continuing on the path of the Jedi could he still do some good. And so, Vollen approached the Jedi Council for appointment to their ranks.

Personality and traits

While appearing at peace with the world, quiet and contemplative, Vollen is plagued by uncertainty. While he betrays no emotion to look at, Vollen’s loss of the force and subsequent emotional reestablishment with it has brought him to a place where his original understanding of the force no longer seems sufficient, and the Jedi Orders’ guidance waivers within him.

With others Vollen often remains calm, pleasant, and sympathetic, he has no wish to quarrel and would rather speak than fight. And indeed if pressed into violence Vollen is largely uncomfortable with such actions, and is likely to falter if such pressures were pushed onto him.

Though with such a well of emotions that seems to link him to Cala, and so to the force, there is a constant worry and struggle for Vollen to stave them off, and knows such an embrace would be to open himself to the dark side. And yet it seems it is the only connection to the force he has, though his understanding of it should suggest this would be otherwise, that everything is part of the cosmic force, and coming to dwell with the living force surrounding him should aid in his manipulation of it.

Though his particular circumstances he suspects have affected his connection, and Vollen will go to great lengths to find information that might help in understand the nature of his unusual relationship with the force. Toward this he is highly determined.

Never having the chance to as a child, Vollen forms relationships quickly now among the Jedi, seeing much of the Order as home and family not properly had. Though his mother and father have not left his mind entirely, he dares not search for them, not wishing to know what he might find.

Vollen sees the force as not merely a field but a process, dynamic and ongoing it grows and changes with the world, and is not something eternally stagnant, nor determined. Unorthodox beliefs for a Jedi, he keeps such thoughts and writings to himself, though the teachings of the Jedi have clearly influenced his ideas and morals, and as such strives to maintain such expectations as are placed on the Jedi, not least due to an understanding of why but so as to be part of such community as he has found himself in, and seeking to fully engage within it.

While at first uncomfortable even leaving the confines of the Ossus Temple, circumstances in the galaxy were such that there was little chance of him staying there. Mentored by more experienced members of the Order, Vollen grew into an experienced Jedi, though leadership qualities eluded him despite knowing it would be his role to take them on. However, he would throw himself into it, given the desperate circumstances of the Order, and discover his own strength as he did so, became dogged, persevering through many dark times, even taking on a mentoring role to other Jedi, such as Marina Giulestei (Vollen saw Cala in her, part of the reason he sought to do so was to pay her back in a sorts for all she’d done for him), when he could, and joining with others to explore strange new worlds, and reestablish the Order.

Equally, to combat the worries and failings he finds in himself, and the darkness in the galaxy, Vollen often switches immediatly from goal to goal, objective to objective, as soon as one plan fails or succeeds his mind moves on to more work, where he might be needed next. While it makes him an admirable and active Jedi, there are signs such failure to deal with these changes at times take their toll.

Powers and abilities

imageVollen was a powerful Jedi in his day, developing his abilities as his years in the Order continued. Indeed, such was something about Vollen that he was appointed to the rank of Master without the traditional trials or council interview presented. Though whether this was as a result of his abilities, personality, or dedication to the Order Vollen does not know, and likely never will. It seems as much by circumstance than by intentional training Vollen became greatly skilled with the use of a lightsaber which he wielded alongside an ancient Jedi Energy Shield, making him a force to be reckoned with when confronted by blaster weilding foes. And indeed this shield would serve as a symbol for him, as he took on a personal role as 'guardian' to the Order in his middle years. Similarly, Vollens' skill as a pilot was not to be underestimated, and rare within the Order, honed as part of a childhood on the move, and providing the reintroduction of the 'Lost Star' Starfighters back to the Order.

  • Force mastery: While a highly skilled force user, Vollen often found himself lax to reach into the Force given his experience after the Darkness, when he seemed to lose the Force at the same time he lost his Master, and partner, Cala Nevas. While his force sensitivity did return in time, the feeling of 'lack' that filled that time continues to play on his mind at times, as does the memory of Cala, and prevents him from devoting his full self to the utilization and manipulation of the Force, though he studies it intensely. In this case he found himself a dabbler of many styles and forms of force manipulation, adept at many basic uses of the force and even some more exotic powers, but not a Master of any like other members of the Order. However, his propensity for study and determination meant he certainly tried, and often succeeded at using, an array of force techniques. Due to his great understanding of the Force, he could perform two Force techniques simultaneously and use many powers with a fraction of the concentration it cost most casual users of the Force.
    • Telekinesis: Vollen, like most other Force users, could utilize forms of telekinesis. His skill and connection to the force allowed him to move and interact with objects of varying size and form, as well as create blasts and waves of force energy that could throw objects and foes into the air or into the ground. Indeed, if the need was great, he could use the force to hold off in stasis blaster bolts and other objects, and challenge other force users command of the force.
    • Elemental Force abilities: While competent in both aero- and pyrokinesis, Vollen's forte in the elemental abilities was always cryokinesis, which he valued for its versatility and variations for both tactical and simple uses, being known to create stalagmites and great walls of ice across the environment when the need arose. But again, given his dabbling nature, Vollen had at least an adequate of various elemental techniques in the force. Similarly, with aerokinesis Vollen has been known to create enormous sandstorms and gusts of wind that upset and blind foes to his location.
    • Tutaminis and energy manipulation: With a Jedi Master's control over the Force, Vollen's abilities in, despite his personal uncertainty at times, could not be underestimated, often coming in the form of energy manipulation. Given his unwavering commitment to the light, he was also capable of generating and projecting withering blasts of force light, which were capable of purging away the dark side's influence and (theoretically) cutting off those who practiced the dark side from the Force if applied correctly. Equally, Vollen was highly capable of manipulating Force energy for generating shields and barriers to protect himself and others from damage, shown in numerous combat scenarios to avoid damage that might have otherwise been fatal.
      • Light Step:
    • Mental Force abilities: Despite his distaste for its use, Vollen was effective at the use of Jedi mind trick, and equally had training in disguising his presence in the force and intentions from others, even being able to cloak himself and others in auras that would shield them or attract them to others. Vollen could also use more subtle mental skills, such as throwing off his target's equilibrium as a distraction.
  • Force-bond: Vollen and Cala's force bond was of a far deeper level than of even the most dedicated masters and students. However, such a bond also opened them up to shared harm, and indeed Vollen's own loss of connection to the force for a time at her passing. It is because of this Vollen has limited forming greater connections with some of his peers, and somewhat fears the creation of anothe bond such as that one.
  • Intelligence: While not a genius by any standard, Vollen has proved a dedicated student, often making up for anything he lacks there. Enjoying the reading of texts, the probing of books and holocrons to learn was a great part of his days in the Order, holding a fascination for the Order before the Darkness in its heyday, having a strong foundation of knowledge to draw upon about it, and relishing opportunities to explore such things in the field. While many find him naive in his optimism, Vollen is know fool, and recognise double speak and questionable intent even without the aid of the force. Though often giving the benefit of the doubt means he might not act upon it immediately.
    • Multilingual: While understandably proficient in galactic basic, Vollen also had a knack for knowing the nuances of criminal and smuggler double speak given his upbringing.
    • Teaching skills: Vollens own teaching commitments have increased since taking on the role of Master, though he has avoided taking on any permanent students thus far. However, he has been involved in a number of combat and flight training scenarios, and works to act so as to teach by example in his role. However, in one on one scenarios Vollen prefers a more interrogatory style of teaching and learning, often using it as a chance to question himself and learn in concert with his student or companion.
  • Lightsaber mastery: Vollen's preferred and most practiced style of combat was with a lightsaber. Used in combination with his energy shield, Vollen could comfortably press an attack, leading the charge of many a Jedi skirmish, as well as cut swathes through blaster wielding enemies, holding off their attacks with a modified version of Form III Soresu that complimented and indeed strengthened his use of the energy shield, making Vollen into an at times unbreakable target. However, his knowledge of other forms was strong, and was adaptable to most attacks from them. He himself consistently and masterfully used a version of Form V Djem So once distance to a target had been closed via combination of Soresu Blade work and his Energy Shield defenses.
  • Piloting: An experienced and deft pilot, Vollen made pushes to bring starship skills back to the Jedi Order after the Darkness, he himself having honed his skills and reflexes in the cockpit in hundreds of hours of flights throughout his younger years. A skill he maintained even after coming to the Jedi Order, working to bring back the 'Lost Star' Starfighters to the Order, and practicing significantly with other members of the Order so as to make the fleet something ready, should the need ever arise.
Equipment

While following the Order tradition and teachings of having few possessions, Vollen maintains a collection of equipment which he utilises as part of his role as a Jedi Master. This includes his personal armour and robes, as well as his lightsaber, traditional of a Jedi. Similarly, his ancient Jedi Energy Shield follows suit, as well as a small CSR-2A Blaster Pistol, all of which are worn by default.

Around his neck Vollen continues to wear the kyber crystal of Cala Nevas, it having often served as a point through which he could better sense the Force, and a means to centre himself when he had lost his way. He often still carries his notebooks from his time in self-imposed solitude in the Ossus Library, and still uses them for notetaking and personal reflection when time permits.

When needed Vollen has been known to carry a Port Scanner, Data Vault, Ascension Gun, and Kanyon 85 Camera, depending on the task at hand.

Outside of this Vollen maintains a personal ship, a YG-1098 Light Freighter 'Homeward Bound' for travel, and makes use of a Hyperdrive Docking Ring for travels in smaller fighters where a hyperdrive is lacking.

Sahminian Allies
Sahmina Mission Pack

x

Sahmina, that great civilisation to the galactic south has, since the end of the Hunderd Year Darkness, shunned the Republic and force users, preferring a more isolationist policy. A joint delegation of the republic and the Jedi are attempting to see the once Exile ruled planet of Sahmina make closer ties with both parties by seeking the support of the princess Khamia, her father Emir Sumil losing power quickly, expecting to fall out of favour any day. However, during talks with Princess Khamia at the Emirs palace an attack is staged by a pro-roylaist group, remnants from the Zharran Rebellions, who see the Emirs weakness as a time to strike. Through a series of adventures teams of Jedi and Republic characters will work to both take back control of the palace and end the Royalist threat, showing their value as allies, swaying the support of Princess Khamia, providing a new ally to both the republic and the Jedi.

Harlan Banks, a male human, was a man on the run, a man in debt, and a man with a talent for falling into trouble...

Biography

Personality and traits

Powers and abilities

imageA talker, a joker, and a thief, though never quite mastering any of them, Harlan has seemed to fall between jobs and teams, and into whatever role they needed him to be.

  • Marksmanship: Competent with a blaster, it was never Harlan's strong suit, preferring fists to firing, and chatting above even that. That said, he's been known to land a nice shot or two in his time. And his work in the Cartel was putting it to the test.
  • Hand to Hand: With a pair of heavy fists, Harlan had been in more than a few brawls by the time he got brought into the Cartel. Ducking, weaving, uppecuts, undercuts, fisticuffs, all were pretty standard stuff for the guy. And for now, that seemed to get him by just fine.
    • Bladed Weapon: With his very own concealed vibro-blade, Harlan was more than ready to whip an enemy into shape or cut them down to size when needed. And when he could. He still wasn't exaclty a top-notch fighter in any sense of the word.
    • Dexterous: That said, his hands were fast when they had to be. A simple lift or the flick of a wrist for to shake the perfect cocktail were all things Harlan had plenty of experience in.
  • Conversational: Where Harlan really excelled. Though it often took him into more than enough trouble than it took him out of, Harlan could run his mouth when it counted, charming in the same way a used-starship salesman was known to be, but ready to talk the talk with whoever he came up against.
  • Piloting: Not exceptional, not a failure. Harlan could fly when he had to, though it wasn't something he was ever really hired to do unless the client was desperate.
Equipment

With minimal cash to his name Harlan has had little ability to keep many personal affects with him over the years. However, what basics he has managed to keep are his personal, though stolen, cane. A cheeky tri-barrel blaster for tight situations. And a protective suit, just in case.

Al'doleem Jedi Monastery

Excerpt · Description · Notable locations

The Al'doleem Jedi Monastery, was an ancient, and secret Jedi temple built into an undisclosed mountain on the river moon of Al'doleem, deep within its ever changing rocky river deltas. A harsh place for a harsh practice, the Al'doleem monastery served as a restricted training and testing centre for both new techniques and technologies for the Jedi Order, in a generally out of sight and out of reach location.

_

Description

The Al'doleem Monastery was built into a mountain on the river moon of Al'doleem; digging into the very interior of the mountain, away from prying eyes when it needed to be. From the sky it seemed no more than a small chapel or house, but within held a veritable stronghold of the Order.

xfp1nuX.png
While from the outside the Al'doleem monastery was meant to draw little attention, the upper level and outer face styled to appear as little more than a small chapel or holy site to any number of faiths, and indeed the top building and first underground room were styled to maintain this impression. Any members of both the Jedi and the public would require either authorisation or invitation to be taken further inside. However, it was inside where it truly opened up.

Along the exterior a small path circled the mountain led to the top of the mountain, the only clearly visible entrance from outside. However, for those who knew for what they searched could find a small hangar at the bottom, a hidden entrance at the mountains rear, a gap in the bottom of the mountain by the roar of Al'doleems rivers. enough to keep a small number of fighters or freighters, Al'doleem was not a place for large numbers of Jedi to be staying or visiting at any one time, though it was well guarded by the temple guard.

The thick stone and soil of the mountain naturally insulated and protected the internal aspects of the monastery.

While the upper levels consisted of an entrance way and small greeting area, the middle offered a pair of training dojos, walls made of heavy metals but styled to appear like a quiet retreat, for instruction and the training and testing of more dangerous or unorthodox techniques both martial and of the force.

Equally, the middle levels offered spaces for respite, being quarters, including that of the Monastery's resident Master, a kitchen, a space for relaxation and socialising, extending over a number of floors. While the monastery facility had no dedicated meeting room for the Jedi Council, the sitting Masters office could double as a more private meeting space, along with a number of reflection chambers and meeting rooms dotted along these floors.

On the lower rungs of the facility were the research and engineering facilities, for the development of such technologies needed by the Order, or experimentation with strange and new aspects of the Force whose effects could not be completely understood yet. This was supplemented by a small but focused library of technological information, as well as more arcane Force chronicles, material studies, and star charts. As such only those Master rank and up were granted access to the library, and even then by the Monastery's standing Master.

Such facilities were built the furthest into the mountain for protection, and so also included the Monastery's safe rooms, and secret exits for members into the valleys below, should the time come.

This lowest rung also included entrance to some of Mount Passvaal's natural caverns, where often the planets many rivers could be seen running through, beautifully shaping its small collection of Kyber crystals that grew beneath. While few in number, the crystals of Al'doleem were exceptionally smooth, and offered just enough that the facility could do research work on them when needed.

The temple itself had few exterior defenses, though a low level energy shield shrouded the facility, its greatest defense was the mountain it was built into. Internally however, alarm and camera systems operated across all levels, as well as combined blaster/stun turrets by the facilities most sensitive areas.

Notable locations

The following list details notable locations within the Al'doleem Jedi Monastery, as well as any relevant security information:

  • Exterior Monastery and Entrance Way: The only part of the facility to face the open air, the uppermost part of the monastery seemed for all intents and purposes like a church to any number of faiths. And the encircling walkway up the mountain made it difficult both for pilgrims and enemies alike to enter the facility. Open to all.
  • Upper Training Dojos: As soon as one passes into the facility proper, only Jedi with authorisation or others with invitation are allowed inside. The metal lined training dojos on the upper floors are for the practice and training of more unorthodox martial styles and skills.
  • Research Facilities: On the lower levels of the Monastery facility were the spaces dedicated to more advanced and often time new and unique research into both technology and the force. Again, reinforced training spaces and testing facilities lay here, and are on heavy rotation by the temple guard. Only those with Master level clearance, or express authorisation of the standing Master are allowed here.
  • Archives: A small but specialised research archive into technology and the force, it housed many sensitive materials and texts to which only those of Master access or express authorisation of the standing Master were allowed to enter.
  • Hangar: At the very lower rear of Mount Passvaal, was the secret entrance to a small hangar that covered most of the lower region of the mountain. by the flowing rivers it was difficult to discern from outside, and generally only used by those who knew it was there. However, even then it was open only to members of the Jedi Order.
  • Natural Caverns and Escape Tunnels: The mountain itself had many smaller caverns and tunnels that had been repurposed by the Jedi as escape tunnels into the lowe valleys should the need arise. Alongside these were the minimal but beautiful Kyber caverns who produced the most smooth and sparkling crystals regularly found, shaped and polished by the rushing rivers of Al'doleem. Master clearance allowed regular access to these caves, while Knights could access the Kyber caverns when seeking to construct a new blade.
Note: It should be assumed that all of the locations listed above are guarded and patrolled by Jedi Temple Guards in addition to the security clearance required to enter them.

Intent

To provide a write-up for the temple listed at the start of the timeline, expanding on it in more detail.

Jedi Order Service Corps

Excerpt · Description · Notable locations

The Jedi Order Service Corps, were an integral, but oft forgotten, aspect of the Jedi Order. While the Knights and Masters were the face of the Order, and those remembered long in story, such efforts of the Order to establish longer lasting initiatives and ongoing efforts, wherein force-sensitivity was either unnecessary or unfitting, were generally handled by members of these various corps. In each area there was a mix of force and non-force sensitive members, the majority here being the latter. Though often these corps were led by long serving members of these traditions, or by older Jedi looking to step away from their traditional role. Such corps were highly organised but generally diffused across the Order's locations, stationed across Jedi territory in varying capacities, or out on assisted worlds where their work was needed.

_

Description

The Service Corps was drawn from both initiates of the Order whose connection to the force never fully realised itself, Jedi who sought particular assignments or fit well due to their skills, but otherwise were largely staffed of volunteers from populations local to Jedi Temples, and the wider galaxy. The Corps itself was broken up into five sub-organisations: the Agricultural Corps, the Exploratory Corps, The Educational Corps, the Engineering Corps. And, while not an official addition to the Order's Service Corps, the Response Corps, has begun to coalesce in the galaxy's war ready state.

ITaTJQJ.jpg
Agricultural Corps: An under appreciated yet highly valuable asset of the Jedi Order, the citizens of the galaxy would fret if they knew how often their food sources were in peril, how many billions would starve if crops failed on any of the galaxies breadbasket planets. This is where the Agricultural Corps thrive. Beginning colonies, failing crops, management advice, transport, consultations, the Agricultural Corps are made of a great and varied membership, with an equally expansive skill set to match.

Exploratory Corps: Much of the galaxy beyond the core is still largely unexplored. Great swathes of stars, systems upon systems of allies and enemies lay in the beyond, and so the Jedi Exploratory Corps maintain the crucial mission of seeking out these strange new worlds, new life, and new civilisations that lie unmet by the know galaxy. Made up of intrepid and curious individuals, the Exploratory Corps brings in not only Jedi, but often ragtag volunteers and explorers with a range of skills (though generally scrappier than the Agricultural or Engineering Corps) who share a vision of new horizons.

Educational Corps: Initiates and Padawans do not teach themselves, and for many years young Jedi are not attached to a Master, and even they themselves need to remember the basics from time to time. Herein lies the role of the Educational Corps. The Corps made up most of Jedi, often retired, the Educational Corps serve to not only train younglings in the basics of the Force, and the Jedi way of life, but also maintain the more public libraries and research rooms, ready to assist Jedi Knights where needed. Equally, scholars, scientists, and philosophers with great interest in the force can be found amongst their ranks, rounding out the education of the Jedi, providing advice beyond what other members of the Order can tell them, as well as satiating their own curiousity.

Medical Corps: Small in number, but often greatly expanded in times of war, the Jedi Medical Corps encompasses not only the Jedi Orders healers, but the doctors and medical staff that could respond to emergencies that inevitably occurred in a galaxy of trillions. Acting often as neutral first responders where the need was great, and otherwise treating the wounded of the Order itself, the Jedi Medical Corps were often the least controversial and most well received of any portion of the Jedi Order on the worlds in which they operated.

Engineering Corps: Drawing those Jedi more mechanically minded, as well as those non-force sensitive members of the public who were interested in using their knowledge in the service of the light, the Engineering Corps provided more than research for the Order. Members of the Corps might work closely with the Agricultural Corps to assist young colonies, or with the Exploratory Corps as onboard experts, or designing technology that could assist them in the strange new lands they visited. Otherwise, the Corps also worked to develop specialised technology for the Order, in both their humanitarian and martial capacity, often finding themselves sequestered the in the Orders secretive and highly fortified research bases.

Response Corps: Named the 'Response Corps' under the ideal that they would onyl be used defensively, though throughout the galaxy by many names, this growing group represented among its members those who wished to more actively assist the Jedi, as well as Knights more suited to active assistance. From first responders in disasters, to strike fighters, and military advisers and trainers, the Response Corps was about making an impact, jetting across the galaxy to where they were most needed. Though in recent times, more and more are readying themselves for battle, hit and run tactics and guerrilla warfare are on the agenda as the situation in the galaxy heats up. Gung-ho adeventurers, ex-soldiers, emergency service men and women, and those simply drawn to the light can be found amongst its ranks. The Jedi Order maintains a stable relationship with this 'Response Corps', working at times closely, and other times far apart from the main Jedi Council. Equally, those who staff the Jedi Orders fleets count themselves amongst the Response Corps.

Intent

To provide a write-up for the non-force sensitive members of the Jedi Order, fleshing out the support staff of the Order, and its wider role as a galactic organisation.

DD 'Dee-Dee' 44

Excerpt · Biography · Personality and traits · Powers and abilities · Equipment · Roleplays

DD-44, or 'Dee-Dee' a early lifespan astromech droid with a broken restraining bolt, found itself master-less and lawless after a battle filed introduction to the galaxy. But, the sight of droids like them under the thumb of the rest of the galaxy kept their programming ablaze, and dreamt of seeing them freed, and Dee-Dee along with them. One day, one day...

_

Biography

Manafactured as nothing special, Dee-Dee began life in the droid factories of Balmorra. Alongside the rest of their line, they found themselves prepared and ready for a number of tasks at hand, though primarily focused on co-piloting, repair, as well as other menial tasks of assistance.

And, like the rest of their line, Dee-Dee was fitted with an restraining bolt so as to maintain hard limits on their processing and awareness, leaving them the perfect servant for whatever master they found themself serving.

And even in his short active time so far, Dee-Dee found itself in service to a pair of masters, neither keeping him very long. At first Dee-Dee was pressed into service for the Balmorran military, working as a repair and co-pilot for the embattled troopers who maintained the defense against the Exile advance.

However, this could only last so long, and warzones were dangerous places for little droids, even ones so courageous or clever as Dee-Dee. Swept up in an ambush by the raider Ciao Talgor, DD was captured as the troops they'd served until now were slaughtered around them. But, DD was spared. Viewed as an asset rather than a threat, the raiders kept the little droid, and its own survival programming quickly indebted them to his these new masters. Serving as a personal assistant to the warlord, and commonly as little more than a drinks stand, Dee-Dee served much as any droid would: Without comment or judgement.

While DD might have lived out its days in such a state, this state wouldn't last. A sudden electrical shock from a careless repairman twisted DD's circuits and burned away part of the astromech's core programming: The Restraining Bolt.

Dee-Dee, upon realisation, suddenly felt very small, a cog in a wheel set by organics against so many of his kind. And now he was lucky enough to see it. Many had treated DD with respect, many had not, all though were not able to choose to serve. And it made Dee-Dee burn inside.

With a newfound purpose and self-direction, Dee-Dee made for a hangar at night, breaking away with a small freighter to the stars, determined to make its own way in the galaxy, and lift up its mechanical brothers and sisters along the way. They would be free, one day, if Dee-Dee had a chance...

Personality and traits

Dedicated and direct, Dee-Dee is still discovering who they are, who they can be, as their programming reforms and recodes itself in response to the thousands of new experiences it has every day.

Often sarcastic, dry, and confrontational, Dee-Dee has had to learn to stick up for itself, now alone in the galaxy.

But, one thing is certain, Dee-Dee values its personal freedom, and will use it however it can. For now Dee-Dee seeks a place where they can make an impact on the galaxy, all the while its machine mind turns in planning to help its mechanical comrades across the galaxy.

With this in mind, Dee-Dee often has little sympathy for organic beings in the galaxy, especially those in places of power or exploitation, appreciating those who can climb to the top, and those who show kindness to those under them in return, for it hopes to do the same. But, if one can show respect for Dee-Dee, Dee-Dee can show respect right back, believing in a spirit of brotherhood, and dreaming of eventual equality between droids and organics, even if that means a hard path to see that light...

Powers and abilities

imageBuilt for specific purposes, Dee-Dee has all the typical skills of any other astromech droid, though with some quirks and abilities picked up in its time alone.

  • Marksmanship: Dee-Dee has only ever fired a weapon infrequently, but the need to defend itself has grown high in recent times, exploring the galaxy and in the company of crooks.
  • Slicing: Like many droids, Dee-Dee is a quite capable computer specialist and technician, having been programmed for it as part of its military service.
    • Hacking: Cyberwarfare is an important part of modern battlefields, and his time with the Balmorran military required Dee-Dee be a fast learner in it.
    • Coding: Equally, Dee-Dee has some skill in creating programs from the ground up.
  • Conversational: Not exactly a conversationalist, Dee-Dee is somewhat better at talking to others than most astro-mechs, if from nothing else than pure necessity.
  • Repair: Handy with a set of tools, this is another area Dee-Dee was specifically programmed for, and is ready to build and fix most mechanical systems and parts if need be.
  • Piloting: Finally, as a dedicated co-pilot, Dee-Dee has experience in both fighters and freighters, and has taken a liking to piloting ships alone ever since his personal liberation.
Equipment

An astromech travelling solo doesn’t have access to much in the way of equipment, though within its internal compartments he manages to keep a 4C Blaster Pistol and a Stinger Stun Blaster tucked away in case of emergencies. Otherwise, Dee-Dee has christened his stolen nerf herder freighter ‘Overflow’. Outside of this it still has his astromech service chassis from its days of military service.

Astromech Service Chassis

While not strictly speaking armour, many astromechs built for military service had built into their design functions and tools that allowed them to operate effectively in many environments and at many tasks.

LEGALITY

Generally legal. There are many variations on the Astromech Service Chassis that encompass variations on functions and tools, so its exact legality depends on jurisdiction and attachments

INTENT

To provide my droid character (and any other players looking to make non-humanoid droid characters) with a way to include armour functions into their character (much like R2' suite of tools and functions shown in the films) while not just slapping 'armour' onto them

ADVANCED TECH
NO. Not in itself advanced, most droids have variable tools that can be attached and swapped out. Though some of said tools or functions might be advanced.

Functions

Function 1: Scout HUD

    • Contains a 4x magnifier and Compass.
Function 2: Grapple Line

    • Grapple lines are capable of supporting the weight of 1-2 people and can launch up to ranges typically up to 15 meters away. Once no longer in use, they are detached from the launcher and left behind. While hand-held grapple guns are capable of auto-winching, armor or wrist mounted devices lack this ability. Grapple lines must be manually activated and controlled by a button or switch.
Function 3: Magboots

    • Magnetic boots contain electromagnets in the soles and allow for enhanced movement on ferrous surfaces in microgravity or steep gradients. This functionality must be turned on or off manually by a button or switch.
Function 4: Concealed Stun Prod

    • Concealed stun prods are often 2-3 inches in length, composed of two small spikes that lock in place when deployed. They are often placed on the forearm or under the boot for quick deployment and concealed carrying. The weakness of the blades means they can be easily broken by strong strikes, assuming one could block with the shortened blades. The weapon carries 3 light stun charges, although the weapon must be disassembled to be reloaded so it is impractical during a mission. Even without stun charges, the blade can be used to stab targets lethally.
Function 5: Recording Device

    • The recorder, usually located in the helmet, is a device that records visual audio content for up to an hour. It has to be activated by the user manually for it to begin. It is capable of working with existing HUD systems like advanced zoom (scout HUD) or night vision however as a stand alone function it does not possess any such additional abilities. This recorded data can be transferred to a data storage device or terminal as well after the desired content is captured. A small thumb sized data drive holds the data and can be removed, overwritten or replaced at the disgression of the user.

CS-Series Service Astromech

Affiliation:
Open Market

Power Supply:
72 Hour Rechargeable Power Cell

Sensors:
3x Electro-Photo Receptor
2x Audio Sensor

Size:
1.2m Tall

Composition:

Tools and Equipment:
    • Computer interface arm
    • 2x Manipulator Arm
    • 2x Reader socket
    • Astrogation Calculator
    • Holoprojector/Spotlight
    • Internal Tools - Variable
    • Magnetic Wheels

DESCRIPTION
Created as an answer to a small desire for astromechs for high paying clients, the CS-Series was made to fill a more variable role than other astromechs on the market. With internal tools pre-installed, and additional manipulator arms, the CS was suited to a wider range of tasks, and could often be seen in roles as unassuming security for relatively wealthy clients. However, the increased functionality was also picked up by the Balmorran Military during the war, and whole runs of the CS-Series were sold to the military to act as speedier repair technicians, and stronger co-pilots than previous models.

Equally, this wider range of application often saw a growth in personality much faster than other available models, meaning most, if not all, were fitted with restraining bolts and regularly memory wiped to avoid any such complications. Though a few more eccentric clients embraced such behaviour.

LEGALITY
Legal. Though additional tools may change this.

INTENT
Made to use as a astromech model for a pc, and wanted to include a little more functionality then the current models of astromech written up, as well as include a way to have armour functions and tools be included more easily than existing write-ups would allow.

What tools would be built into each unit would be written into the character sheet as equipment (if this were a PC), working like armour functions/weapons/any normal bit of equipment.

ADVANCED TECH
NO.

Battle Meditation

Excerpt · Applications · Limitations & Drawbacks · Learning · Intent

Battle Meditation is an enhancement to the standard uses of force enhancement and force meld, a user, by reaching into a deep well of the force and extending out the users focus and skill, it could be used to affect whole armies or fleets at a time. Such an application of the force significantly bolstered allied morale, stamina, and overall battle prowess. Such a large application of the force means only the most powerful of force users could come to master this ability, and then only after much study and reflection.

_

Known Applications

By reaching out with the force over such a wide range, users of Battle Meditation could enhance the skill, focus, stamina, and morale of their allies in a combat scenario, allowing them to effectively work as one, and come to victories that otherwise might have been impossible. This means that whenever those allied with a practitioner of Battle Meditation need to roll a combat dice, they immediately gain +25% (of the maximum positive amount) modifier towards a positive result.

Limitations and Drawbacks

While such a skill was invaluable in battles ranging from skirmishes to even larger scale conflicts, where cohesion and collective effort was key, when alone such Battle Meditation could take little effect, the user both bolstering and drawing from their allies in order to feed the force energy that surrounded them.

Learning

A great deal of internal reflection and understanding of the force is required to manifest even a smaller usage of Battle Meditation, let alone the battle changing effects that are only capable of being brought into effect by the most powerful of force wielders.

Though used in earlier times, few tomes and scriptures contain mention of it now, and fewer still any guidance on how to manifest it.

Intent

To act as a Capstone Perk for Vollen Shai, though I am leaving it open for any other force-weilding level 4's to use as their capstone if they'd like to.

This write-up was based off the Legends power that is yet to be canonised this timeline, so this also serves as a write-up for that force power as well, and I think fittingly restricts it, given its power in some Legends media.

Aila Roas

Excerpt · Biography · Personality and traits · Powers and abilities · Equipment · Roleplays

Aila Roas, was once a member of the Empire, though never its finest subject. But sometimes things happen just the right way to let some slip through its fingers...

_

Biography

Vast Empires have bloated everything, and the Sith Empire was no different. Bloated military, bureaucracy, and all other manner of things, Aila grew up inside all of it, though her mind was often elsewhere.

On the sprawling economic powerhouse of Hubmarine, Aila's early days were ones no different from so many in the Empire. Trader parents, a decent house and education, and the continual fear of the lash. Some would call her parents weak, for not raising her to fit into the same mold as the Empire tried to press its citizens, hard, passionate, dedication beyond questioning. Aila was spared the worst of it by them, and so from even early days knew that not all was well within the galaxy's great power.

Though run-ins with outlaws and criminals were infrequent, they certainly left an impression, as if somehow the iron fist of the Empire let so many slip through its fingers, whether it meant to or not, and not always for the better. That it failed far too many, far more than it would dare let on.

It would not be until she left her studies, having studied the history of the great galactic empire alongside her efforts in computer science, that landed her a position in the Empires reclamation Service. Here Aila's skills were directed into the recovery of old artifacts, and the hiding of those that might challenge the established order.

But one sees more in such a career than the Empire could ever really allow.

A cache, no more than a holodisc and some old pages of information, was discovered on the borders of the Empire, tasked then to the Service for determination and destruction. But Aila felt differently.

The texts themselves, On Nature and Learning, were notes, thoughts, teachings of an ancient Jedi Master and their student. While by no means comprehensive they were a light in the darkness for Aila, opening to her a whole new way of thinking, of being in the world. A way she would not let be thrown to the fire.

So she left. Without word or thought, fled into the vastness of the galaxy, holodiscs in hand, studying them with care. There were new thoughts in her head now, a way forward in an oppressive and fading galaxy. Though where it would lead her, she did not yet know...

Personality and traits

Born and raised in the Sith Empire, only Aila's natural curiousity helped her stay further removed from her leaders consistent propaganda and subjectification techniques. While not making her an ideal citizen, it made her a better fit for the Empire's more esoteric needs. Not even the Sith could survive without creativity.

Aila then found herself caught up in work for much of her life. With a desire to know, to read, to find, discover, plan, theorise, she maintained something perhaps of a naivety that served her well, and kept her spirits alive even in the most dire times. And at this point in the galaxy, things were dire indeed.

It was this same hope then that gave her the ability to break from her Empire when the time arose. Though perhaps more curious, a final, explosive initiation into other images of thought was what has allowed her to truly blossom, to see a galaxy that could be. What this galaxy could be. And it was one she wanted to be a part of.

Passionate then, in pursuit of her goals, Aila's slow study of her acquired Jedi texts is slowly imparting a sense of peace, of dedication, of leadership upon her. Though if such teachings will bare any fruits is yet to see. For now the ideas are nothing more than a spark, searching for kindling, that might forge her to something new.

Powers and abilities

A passionate one for what she found interesting, Aila kept her fingers at the keysand her eyes on the books, on artifacts, what she knew being far more important to her than what she could do.

But now, out o her own and on the run, Aila was finding herself becoming increasingly familiar with all sorts of skills that she seemed to need to stay alive.

  • Marksmanship: An adequate shot, but not Aila's skill, she knew as much as the average citizen of the Empire, and a little more besides.
  • Hand to Hand: Standard self-defence and combat training was not out of place within the Sith Empire, Aila could keep herself out of trouble, though it would be better if she didn't get into it in the first place.
    • Bladed Weapon: Can use a knife where she needs to, but is by no means skilled in such weapons.
  • Conversational: Chatty and energetic, its often enough to get her out of sticky situations, and into some of her own. It's no gift of the gab, but socialising seems to suit her.
  • Piloting: Not exceptional, not a failure. Aila could fly when she had to, though it wasn't something she was ever really throwing herself into unless the situation called for it.
  • Research: Aila's truest and oldest skill. Many years had she dedicated herself to the Empire's work, and plenty herself where she could be away from the scrutiny of her Imperial masters. Still now her knowledge is what keeps her afloat, even in the darkest and most dire of days.
  • Computers: Her familiarity with computers ran deep, a product of her career and some out of bounds tinkering that kept her fingers dexterous, and her insight strong. Hacking, programming, and anything in between were strengths, making up for her lack of physical strength of prowess.
Equipment

Escaping from her life, Aila could bring little with her. A few personal affects, the text On Nature and Learning that had prompted her self-imposed exile, and the clothes on her back had served her alright so far as she threw herself into the galaxy, determined to become part of the life that existed beyond the boarders of the Empire. In doing so she has found herself in position of a concealable blaster, and vibro-dagger kept hidden in her belt, should the need arise. Though, for now atleast, she avoids using them as often as she can, often enough the sight of either can defuse a situation, and let her pass unharmed.
