New Friends

Isabella and Kyle laughed. He opened up the door and walked in and immediately chose the bunk next to Isabella's.

Kai walked up to Isabella and asked her what she thought. "I absolutely love it, Kyle already is showing that he likes it..." She tilted her head seeing him plop down on his bunk and lay down. She giggled. "Yep, he's happy!"

 

[Ral]

"I'm glad to hear it," Kai remarked pleasantly as he watched her, studying her expressions. Looking over to see the other Padawan plop down onto the bed cause a chuckle to escape Kai's mouth. "So it would seem." The master agreed as he looked back to the young girl. "You sure seem to have a good sense of what your fellow Padawan is feeling." He remarked rather matter-of-factly, wondering if this girl's ability to easily deduce someone's emotional state might have be natural insight into body language or sensing other people. "So, what are you thinking? Do you want to stay here a little longer or would you like to continue your tour?"

Isabella smiled hearing Kai's response. She still giggled seeing Kyle rolling around on his new bed happily.

She nodded when he mentioned about other peoples feelings. "I've been able to sense it since I was very young." She told him. "And I would love to continue with a tour. It would be a smart idea to get to know the ship." She remarked with a smile. She sensed Kyle looking at them hoping he could stay. "It seems Kyle wants to stay where he is though."

 

[Ral]

"Interesting, do you know how young you were when you first started noticing this?" His voice was genuinely curious, the look of his face pleasant and calm as he asked the question. When she remarked that she would like to continue the tour of the ship, Kai nodded and gave her a warm smile. "Yes, I think Kyle is happy where he is. C'mon, I'll show you to the mess hall and the training rooms. If you're hungry we can stop there and talk. Do you have any questions for me yet? About myself, or this ship, or the Order, or training?"

Isabella thought for a second. "I believe I was about three or four at the time." She said finally remembering it. Bella returned the smile, grateful of having somebody to talk to. She thought for another minute, finally a question did pop into her head. " Well I am sorta hungry, knowing that I've eaten very little before this. But I think I do have a question." She smiled. "I want to know more about you and the Order. Like when did you come here, how old were you? etc." She had been so curious and excited to arrive, that just now after she had calmed down a little bit, the questions started coming to her slowly.

 

[Ral]

"Ah, very interesting. That's pretty young, I'm surprised you remember back that far!" Kai remarked, mostly teasing the young Padawan as they started to leave the room. Isabella seemed to be happy to have him there, the warm smile she returned to him and her own aura suggested that much to the young Master. When she said she was somewhat hungry, Kai nodded, it would have been a decent time to get something to eat. As she smiled before she asked her question he couldn't help but chuckle a little. "Oh you want to know more about me, huh?" He grinned as he led the way to the mess hall. "Alright, it's a bit of a story."

Kai started the tale of how he became a Jedi. "I first started training when I was fourteen, I had a private tutor who wasn't a Jedi, but knew about them. She taught me the basics. At sixteen I made my first lightsaber, it had an amethyst blade," Kai removed the crystal which hung by a chain around his neck to show it to the Padawan. "Then I left for the real Order. I arrived at a nearby Outpost, where I met the woman who would become my teacher, Lutomi Renelo. I was knighted when I was eighteen." He smiled fondly as he recalled the days. "The Order has always been good to me, the Galactic Evolution is relatively new though, so I haven't been here very long. Do you have some more specific questions?"

Isabella giggled slightly at his teasing "Well yes, it's almost the only thing I remember around that age." She replied still smiling. Isabella listened to his story, very interested in it. "I dont have anymore specific questions yet. I know they will come to me sooner or later though." She told him as they walked to mess hall.

 

[Ral]

"I bet! Well, it's in interesting first memory to have, I'm sure not many Jedi can claim that have something like that!" Kai laughed at the young teenager matching her smile as they walked on. Once he had finished his story he took another turn. They were getting closer to the mess hall now. Nodding, he replied, "Well, feel free to ask whatever when you can think of it. In the mean time, do you know what you are most excited to start doing as a Jedi?"

Pressing a button on a nearby control panel the doors opened to reveal a large hall filled with tables and stools, many were occupied with eating Jedi, some congregating, others just taking a break from the daily ritual. "Well, shall we see what there is to eat today?"

As they continued, Isabella was so excited just being there at that time. She then thought for a second. "Well, I'm excited for Jedi training, meeting new people, and beating the Empire once I'm a knight!" She giggled at the last one almost rethinking that part of her response.

 

[Ral]

The excitement was rolling off the young Padawan; it didn't take a Jedi master to figure out she was more than electrified at having finally arrived and taking another step in her young life. One that would define her for the rest of her, hopefully long, life. As Kai listened to her explain, perhaps rather quickly, at what she was excited for, he ended up laughing. She was energetic and idealistic as any young Padawan. "I certainly hope that's true, my dear. With any luck you'll be become a Jedi Knight soon, and I hope I'll be there to see it!" The young master started to make his way over to where they were serving the food, peering at it he looked back to the tall Padawan, "So, what do you think?"

She giggled. "Its definitely true! And i want you to be there." She looked around seeing what the other Jedi and padawans were eating and smiled. She saw beef, vegetables, etc. she kept her eye on the meat and vegetables. "I think I'll have some of that beef and veggies." She said as her stomach started growling.

 

[Ral]

Raising an eyebrow at the Padawan due to her remark of wanting him to be there when she was promoted, a small smirk cross his face. "Oh really? You want me to be there? Well that's certainly nice. If I'm around when it happens you can bet that I'll be there. I wouldn't want to miss the promotion of one of the Order's brightest for the Galaxy!" Kai was being polite, of course, with the compliments, but he did mean it. At least she was being honest, and she seemed to have a decent head on her, which was more than what Kai could say for some of these knights that hung about the Galactic Evolution going on "Missions" and "teaching".

"Good choice," Kai commented as he handed Isabella a tray for the food. "I think I'll have the same. So, where would you like to sit?"

She smiled seeing his look on his face. "Yes, I do want you to be there. And I may actually want you to be part of my Jedi life if you're free to be." She hinted. Isabella wasn't sure if he knew what she meant but she did. And she had been wanting to ask. Isabella then looked around the room and saw an empty table over closer to a corner but it was still more centered with much less of a crowd. "over there."

 

[Ral]

Kai listened to what she said and frowned. That certainly could have a lot of meaning and the Jedi Master didn't want to take it a way that wasn't meant. Did she want him to teach her? Or did she mean something else? He would have no idea what that would mean other than be a friend, which of course he'd more than happy to be; Kai tried to be friends with all the Jedi he met, though some of them did make it difficult with how they acted some times, like they had no idea what being a Jedi meant even though they professed to. Looking over to where she was motioning, Kai nodded and let her lead him to the table. Taking a seat across from the teenager, he looked her in the eyes and asked, "What do you mean? About being a part of your life if I'm free to."

Isabella smiled slightly. "I meant, I want you to be my master. We get along well, and I think this is also what the force is telling me too." She felt nervous asking him such a big task, but she knew he was the right one from the start.

 

[Ral]

Looking at her inquisitively, Kai steepled his hands together in a contemplative gesture. As he gazed at the surprisingly tall teenager over the tips of his fingers, the young Jedi master seemed to have been in deep thought. "That's a very seriously decision, Isabella, on that should not be taken lightly," he finally said, his voice very serious as his dark grey eyes examined the prospective student before him, his face giving away nothing that he was thinking. "We have only just met, what makes you think I'd be a good master for you? Or that I'd even want to be your teacher?" The last part was teasing, but purposefully meant to throw her off to see how she reacted, while he was certainly going to entertain the possibility of taking her as an apprentice, he wanted to get to know her better as a person before he agreed to making a choice which could, and very likely would, alter her life for ever.

Isabella kept her eyes locked with his. She felt serious about it. And then gave off a small smile. "Well, when we met I had good feelings when I met you that something was going to happen. Like soon. And we seem to get along real well so far, that it just feels right to me. " she also caught onto his joke and played along. "And if you want to, well, that's if you want to see smiley every day." She giggled slightly at her joke.

 

[Ral]

"Oh, you had good feelings about me when we met did you? You had some kind of idea that something good was going to happen, today? With me? Here?" Kai chuckled, his tone had taken on a bit of a more lighthearted one. Nodding his head he seemed to agree with what she was saying. "Though I do think we get along well, so I guess that's a few points in your favor." He smiled at Isabella and gave her a playful wink. "Now, as far as you smiling goes... I dunno... think I might nee to take some convincing on that one. Let me think about it, please, I'd like to get to know you better, and for you to get to know me better before we make any choices."

Isabella smiled back. "I understand."

 

[Ral]

"So, talk to me, help me get to know you better, and ask me questions so I can get to know you better!" Kai answered Isabella. He liked her response, between that and her smile he knew that she was a good kid, and knew she would probably be a good apprentice as well. He hoped she would give him the little extra he needed to be convinced they would make a good pairing. "Tell me about yourself some more! Do you know what kind of things you'd like to learn first as a Jedi? As an apprentice?"
