New Friends

After a few moments with the mystery person Isabella was left with at the Air Station, a ship called the Galactic Evolution. The guy that was standing with her said, "Well my job is done for a while, have a good trip kid. " He smiled slightly and walked away. She smiled back shyly and turned back to the ship as a young man appeared from the rampway leading to the ship. He smiled as he walked towards her. "You must be Miss Isabella." He said as they shook hands. " Yes sir, I am. " She followed him up the ramp into the ship and sat next to another padawan close to my age or older. I smiled at him shyly as I sat down in a nearby seat.

Footfalls could be heard resounding through the metal corridors as Jedi Master Kai Sera walked through the hallways of the NJO ship Galactic Evolution. Checking his chrono he sighed a little. He was late. Muttering to himself some what annoyed with himself and his apparent lack of timekeeping, the Jedi Master picked up his pace and appeared at the waiting area where he found two new Padawans waiting for him. Looking them over for a moment; his face expressionless, plain. Reaching out into the Force, Kai closed his eyes for a moment to sense both of them. Opening his eyes he looked over to the young ward who had been watching over them. Waving him away, Kai dismissed the young man.

"So," Kai finally opened his mouth, his voice calm but firm, "You're the two new Padawans?" The master pulled out a datapad and looked over the names of the two present. Looking up at them he inquired, "Names?"

She looked up at the master from where she was sitting and nods, then she told her name to him " My name is Isabella Rae " The other padawan then looked up at him shyly and said his name "I'm Kyle T'kannah"

 

[Ral]

"Good," Kai answered as he made a motion and marked their names on the datapad. Pressing the tablet to his side he looked at the two in the eyes. They were so young, though probably about as old as he was when he first started learning how to use the Force. "I'm Councilor Kai Sera, welcome to the Jedi Flagship Galactic Evolution. If you'll both follow me I'll show you to your quarters." The older man motioned for both of them to stand and follow after him as he started walking down the durasteel grey corridors. Turning to look over he asked. "How was your flight over here? Everything went smoothly I take it?"

Isabella and Kyle followed him and Isabella looked up at him when he asked his question "Yes, the flight was great, everything went perfectly smooth on the way over too "

"I'm glad to hear it," Kai answered honestly as they walked down the corridors, taking a few twists and turns at different intersections. "Was that your first time in a spaceship?" He asked as he pressed a button to call a turbolift. While they were waiting he turned about and looked at both of them in the eyes. The girl was tall for her age, nearly as tall as he was. No doubt she would be a giantess when she was fully grown. "So, are you both excited to be here?" Kai asked trying to get them engaged and evoke more than simple short answers out of them.

She giggled slightly "Yes it was my first time in a spaceship and I admit, its pretty awesome, but yes we are overly excited to be here" Isabella said following him over to the lift. She looked around " This place is pretty interesting " She stated

 

[Ral]

Isabella's giggle caused Kai to smile somewhat, "Awesome! I was probably close to your age when I first flew in a starship, it wasn't too long after that before I was piloting them too!" He chuckled a little at the recollection. Coming back to the present he added, "And it's good to be excited. I was very excited when I joined the Jedi Order, though that was years ago. And if you think this place is interesting, wait till you see all the rest! It'll probably blow your mind!" Kai grinned as the doors to the turbolift opened and he stepped in, waiting for the other two to join him before pressing the button to the deck where they would be staying. "Due to current circumstances, you'll be sleeping in a common area until you are assigned a master or are lucky enough to get your own private bunk. Even then, there's a good chance you'll have roommates. So, I hope you're both okay with sharing space."

Glancing at the pair he asked, "Do you have any questions at the moment? For me in particular or about the ship or the Order?"

Isabella smiles as she hears Kai's short story of when he was her age joining the Jedi Order. She loved hearing stories. Her eyes widened when he started taking more about the place. "Oh wow! I didn't know that you piloted ships too. And yes, I love excitement, I always watched the kids back home playing with sticks pretending they were lightsabers. It always reminded me on how much I love the Jedi. And the common area is good enough for me for now if thats what you have right now, its better than where I have been sleeping." Both padawans followed him onto the lift as they thought for a second if they had questions. " Nope, no questions. " They both said at the same time. The two looked at each other and laughed slightly as the doors to the lift closed.

Seeing her eyes brighten and mouth form into a smile at the mention of his story caused Kai to get an idea of what to say to these teenagers to get them to open up. "Yep! Of course I fly! I wouldn't trade that for the Galaxy! If either of you two want I can start giving you some basic lessons sometime. If you love excitement, just wait for your first flying lesson, or your first mission. And now you get to be a Jedi! How 'bout that? Learning to use the Force, becoming a master of the lightsaber, all of it." He clapped them both on the back. He was glad to hear that at least the girl was satisfied with the sleeping arrangements. "Well, if you ever do feel free to ask me. So, who would like to hear a story? Maybe how I fought a Sith on Tatooine? Or blew up the Empress' Palace on Coruscant?" He smiled as the doors to the lift opened and he stepped out.

Kyle's and Isabella's eyes both lit up more. They loved hearing him talk. They followed him out of the lift still smiling. "Yes we would love to hear a story!" They said

 

[Ral]

Laughing, Kai shook his head; he had a feeling they would be interested in hearing something like that. Clearing his throat, Kai looked back at the two younglings and smiled. "So, this was awhile back when I was just a Padawan at seventeen. I was on Tatooine on a mission for the Jedi Order. While I was in Mos Espa I encountered a young Sith acolyte. Now, this Sith was a big guy, over seven feet tall, and big, I mean really big. Like huge. We ended up fighting after the Sith took a hostage, which I managed to free." Kai started explaining in detail how the fight progressed, even mentioning how he now has a scar on his right shoulder from the lightsaber. "Eventually, the fight took us tot he rooftop of a local cantina where this big huge Sith decides to stop a hole through the roof into this cantina. Well, I knew where he was so I started cutting a bigger hole in the roof to drop it on him. But when he realized he was going to be defeated he tried to throw part of the roof back at me. Luckily I managed to throw it at him instead, and then I managed to get a few shots in with my pistol! After that the Sith started running away. This big ol' Sith from me! It was really quite funny!"

Isabella and Kyle listened carefully as he told his story. After he was finished, Isabella giggled at the fact that a huge sith ran away from a 17 year old. " I defeated an Inquisitor when I was 10. That one was about as funny as yours. " Kyle laughed at all of it. " Thats so funny! A Sith running away from a 17 year old! Who knew? " Kyle stated while giggling. Isabella and Kyle giggled smiling at Kai.

 

[Ral]

"Oh really?" Kai asked as he looked down at the two new Padawans, examining Isabella carefully as she made the claim. It seemed unlikely that a girl not even a teenager would be able to do something like that, but not impossible. Continuing with his questioning he asked, "And how did you manage that? If you don't mind me asking."

Just as he asked the question they turned another corner and Kai had to stop before running into a closed doorway. "Ah, here we are," he remarked as he reached over to a nearby panel containing the door controls. Pressing the button to open, the blast doors slowly opened to reveal a large room, very probably a makeshift storage room, lined with bunks down both sides. "This is where you'll be sleeping until you get better arrangements."

Isabella smiled realizing that he was interested in her story, " Yep, I dont mind actually. Anyway, this Inquisitor broke into my house, it was an abandoned one, and he tried to attack me, so I fought back. " She explained. "And I managed because I had my lightsabers, " She showed them to him. " I found them in the basement of my house when I was running from the Inquisitor. Somehow they still work, and I was able to fight him with them. I played cat and mouse with him, to the point to where it weakened him enough to make that Imperial sith scared of me. " She smiled as she explained. Kyle's eyes grew wider as she explained that she scared an Inquisitor away.

 

[Ral]

"Huh," Kai remarks with a frown and a raise of the eyebrows listening to the young girl recount her tale of fighting with an inquisitor. Humming to himself as he thinks about what the girl said. He sensed no deception from here, which typically meant she was being honest, or at least that she believed her own story. "Well, that's quite remarkable. You should be proud of yourself. Not many Padawans would be capable of such a feat. Now, any questions about your sleeping arrangements?"

Isabella and Kyle thought for a minute but then shook their heads " Nope, no questions, but about the Inquisitor, I was pretty proud when I saw him running away "

 

[Ral]

"Indeed you should be," Kai said, the faint traces of smile remained at the corners of his mouth. He stood there before them for a few more seconds before finally saying, "Well what are you doing? Go get your bunks! If you just stand around all day waiting for me they'll all end up gone and I'll be a grandpa before you know it!" He laughed. The Jedi Master was teasing of course, and his tone clearly indicated that he was. Following after them he added, "Bathrooms and showers are at the far end, once you get settled I'll show you to the mess hall."

Isabella and Kyle also laughed "Kyle since you are closer to the door open it! " She stated excitedly. Kyle looked at her confused. "Open it?" Isabella sighed when he asked the question and then smiled and pushed past him, opening the door. " Yes open it! But its too late now I-" She caught her tongue when she saw the area. She loved the look of it. " Whoa..."

 

[Ral]

Kai simply laughed, "Go ahead, get your bunks. Don't make me say it again" The master repeated standing near a door a serious look on his face but a soft twinkle in his eye. There were several free bunks spread out through the entire dorm room, so there wouldn't be a problem. If the two Padawans wanted to sleep near each other they could, or they could sleep on opposite ends of the hall. After a few minutes, Kai would walk up to Isabella and ask, "So, what do you think so far?"
