No energy, no friends, and no magical wave of her hand to heal her wound like nothing. The woman was helpless, and Song helpless to do anything about it. Maybe she could do something. Maybe she could call for help, or haul the bounty back to her ship and warn someone about the bloody Twi’lek in the abandoned house downhill. She couldn’t stand around and watch her slip through her fingers.

Any other bounty hunter might’ve welcomed the thought. They were dealing with a Jedi. If they found out where she kept her lightsaber, hidden on her or somewhere aboard her ship, they could fetch a pretty penny for it. Song had to admit, there was no such thing as enough credits. If she wanted to pad her pockets with it, all she’d have to do was finish what Aria started.
No. Song was better than that. The Jedi saved her life, the Mandalorian ought to do the same.
She glanced back to her mark, still unconscious on the floor, and then her decision was made. Facing the Twi’lek, Song said, “No, I’m not done yet either.”
The Mandalorian took the Jedi by the arm, helped pull her up, and about carried her on. Shoulder to shoulder, side by side. Song led the Twi’lek outside, met with the warmth of daylight, and the tide in the grassy dunes. Forget her mark. A handful of credits and a little boost to her reputation meant nothing if she didn’t save the one person who saved her. A debt had to be paid.
“Come on,” she said as they climbed uphill, towards the settlement. Where doctors waited to help, where the Twi'lek could call her allies for help and recovery.
Though Aria would inevitably awake and escape, and Song would lose the bounty, it didn't matter. She made a new friend that day, as brief as it was, and as she was a Jedi and Song a Mandalorian, it was a strange one too.
