A little bit of everything. Parts of the structure (oh hey no "you have to be X to do Y and jump through several rings on fire to have a Jedi even though we're set in the Old Republic era, and have no PvP anyway"), and the level of creative freedom with stuff like Indie factions, planet/species/tech submissions, and the amount of variety you had in most factions with regards to what you could do.

What keeps me coming back is pretty much people like you Padme! Just nice people, who are relaxed, don't treat this like job, and are here to have fun and tell fun stories. People like Bee, Kyle, Kevin, Sid, Gamov, Logan, that one British dude, and Zaypat that I've known for a long time, NOOBS like Matt, RICHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, and pretty much everyone in the Conquer The World Game right now.

Also RIP Cassa, Jeff, and FP.

Also Skype chats, and playing CaH on skype chats.

@Fat Possum is the reason I joined the site, so if he comes back, blame him. This was basically my first "big" forum RPG, and I'm still not 100% comfortable with everyone reading my IC posts, though eventually I'll learn to deal with it.

Gonna echo @Zapp Frankigan (who is a precious cinnamon roll for naming me before Kyle) and say its the people who keep bringing me back. @Calixis (the bae), @The Kyzer, @Insoulent, @ZayPat, @Relent, @Clayton, @Livu, @Padmé, Frank.. and so on. Someone also gave me a RED NAME (THANKS @Lucid) so my special snowflake needs have been met which helps, too.

CAH nights are also a big plus. We should do community events or something.

Jiang and Ravensmark showed me the site. Like @Bee this was my first forum style RPG but I really like the Star Wars universe. I'm not the best writer but no one really cares, I get to do my thing and meet some interesting people and try to make some fun interesting stories.

As for why I stay, I have two young kids and a wife who works nights. Other then PS4 this is they only hobby I have time for.

I joined the forum originally because of the free reign it gave players, as well as the storyline - combined with a love for Star Wars lore.

What keeps me coming back is the discussion about the forthcoming films as well as the new story line (I want to see what the next time line will be about, and what different story and character opportunities it will bring).

I was in High School when I started playing SWTOR and came up with the character of Satoryu. I'd RPed lightly before on the IMVU site (shut up I was 16), but wanted to try it properly. So I googled Star Wars RP forum and found this place! I've been a writer since I first learned to spell, but RP was totally new to me, and still is in many respects.

Not only did I find the roleplay immensely enjoyable, I made closer friends with people than I ever had IRL. This place isn't just a hobby for me, it is truly my online home. This website gave me a place to belong. When I first joined I was a dumb teenager, but my time here has done wonders for my social skills and has helped me to mature and grow, not just as a writer and an artist, but as a person.

I've made so many good friends here, but @Ben and @Apollyon and @Pureblood-Sin are probably the closest to me. Ben is always ready to talk to me about more personal stuff and help me out with my stupid problems, James and Sin I can talk to for hours on end about Sith and characters and plot stories until well into the morning. James in particular, has been the only member I've been friends with and have RPed with from the day I first joined, and he's probably my best friend here.

@Defiance gets an honourable mention, he's always been my go-to guy for writing tips and has helped me to improve as an artist over the years. @Sreeya has always been kind of a mama and has stuck up for me and given advice when I've had problems in the past. I must certainly not forget @TweedPawn who will listen to me talk about Geisha and Japanese stuff and always be down for skype tea parties.

Hoo boy, where does a man begin?

Well first off, as a veteran of several RPs (AvP, Warhammer etc.), I wanted to find an RP site gave me plenty of free reign to begin the foundations of my character, a good story as well as an outlet for some of my creative impulses. It was this prospect that attracted me, but it was the people that kept me. Here I've discovered plenty of helpful folk and, ultimately, discovered an even greater treasure here; good friends. Its one thing to have a good story, but it would be nothing without friends to help make it all the more richer.

@Ben , @Marf , @Apollyon step forward and take a bow...and gimme hugs dagnabbit!

Pretty much what everyone else has said. Came for the stuff, stayed because of the community.

I found this place on a fluke after leaving what had been an incredibly unfulfilling RP site. Counting this place, this has been my 4th SW RP site - along with a handful of others that weren't SW related, at least not exclusively - but it is by far my favorite. It's no fun to write a story if the people you're writing with aren't helping to make it fun or interesting, but thankfully SWRP has no shortage of talented writers. The friends I've made here are what keep this place fun, and in spite of whatever drama or disagreements may crop up, they're what keep me coming back.

People like @ZayPat who I met pretty much the day I joined, and now I'm stuck with him (ilu bro), @The Kyzer and @Zapp Frankigan for answering every mundane question I've ever had about tech submissions, and @Bee for being... I dunno, cranky and misanthropic 99.99% of the time? I swear the Tech Admin job is like a disease. It takes normally sweet and innocent people and turns them into trollish monsters... wait, you were like that when I got here. nvm

And of course I have to give special mention to @The Duke. I got my start on this site because of him and the Waste Rangers (RIP), and if it hadn't been for finding that niche, I'm not sure what would have become of me. I may have receded into the shadows and transformed into some hideous Fandolorian... eech. Anyway...

This place is great, and it's been made that way because of you guys.

I hate every single one of you.

I guess some are more tolerable than the rest. @Bee because she's a GIRL ON THE INTERNET, @The Kyzer for stupidly giving me a small taste of IC power I can use to boost my ego on a fanfiction site. @Zapp Frankigan, @BLADE, @Padmé and @ZayPat don't fill me with too much disgust either. I have to mention @Livu for her continued lack of resistance when I drag her to these places.

That's as much sucking up as you're getting out of me.

Before I joined, all I used to write was pvp focused rps. At my old forum, I used to do just general fantasy rps (elves, dwarves, etc.). But then someone dragged me into the Star Wars sub forum because they wanted me to pvp kill someone. From then on, I realized I loved rping SW and searched for a website dedicated to it. I found this site and jumped in right away. Admins HATED me at first, but then once I got my shot, I was able to really become a part of the community.

What keeps me coming back are the people and the plots. Sadly, most of the people I was close to aren't on the site anymore, but I'm hoping for an influx with the new timeline. What kept me coming back were memories like the Battle Of Ando Prime, Tanaab, Zen, and other hysterical moments that I still go back and read these days. I have and will always love the community here, even though it has its good/bad phases. I've always loved driving the war plot forward no matter which timeline, and always loved creating a sense of urgency/call to action on the site.

With getting married and moving up career wise, I can see my activity going down. Buuut like my fiancee joked, I'll probably still be around years down the road and drag our kids into the site :p (that sounds horrifying)

Well hello everyone, a lot of you know me by A LOT of user names or nicknames in general. I have gone by A'den, Pax, and now Apollyon but a few of you know me as Jimmy, James, and a few as my middle name. When I first joined this site I was a complete noob, I had been writing on fantasy based sites for a while but none of them were at this scope or magnitude and certainly none of them encouraged the depth that this website still does. My first writing experience was with Master Maverick and my Jedi Padawan at that time, he was the one who REALLY got me hooked on the site and showed me how awesome and friendly the community was here. It was through him that I met people like @Padmé who is basically my SWRP momma, @TweedPawn who became a pretty close pal when I rp'd over on the Jedi side of things, and @GABA who really believed in me as a writer and let me flourish with my character Pax. However, these aren't the only people who took interest in me and invested in me not only as a writer but as a person. @Vencu became like a role model for me while I rp'd with the Mandalorians, he invested his time into me and helped me build up a character that became my namesake for a LONG time and @Mars used to come up with schemes to kill off other characters with me ALL the time. But most importantly, @Marf has been my writing buddy for a LONG time now and has really encouraged the development of my main character Audroti. She has poked and prodded me to grow him as a character countless times and slowly her persistence has paid off, outside of this she is a true friend and someone I talk to when things just aren't going my way in life, I am thankful to have her around.

Special thanks to:
@Sreeya: Sreeya and I haven't always gotten along but in the past year or so she has allowed me to really take part in planning pvp and we started to have a closer working relationship. Now I am happy to consider her a friend and to have viewed her as a mentor as far as pvp goes in the past.

@Dmitri: Weiss, you believed in me when others didn't, you challenged me to drop my pig headed and sometimes hostile ways. I'm still not sure if you could see the person I was or if you just refused to believe that I was a massive dirtbag but either way I thank you for the opportunities you have given me.

@Bee: Bee, you and I have some awesome OOC and IC times, from the time Azzo got a face full of Vica's booty on accident to her interesting but short training under Pax, I have cherished writing with you. Plus all our ooc gossip and jokes have turned some of my rather gloomy days into better ones and I wanted to thank you for that.

@Ben: You are a scoundrel and fit me perfectly. You and I have gotten along since you joined the site and are kinda my partner in crime (despite rping on two different sides of a galactic war). We chill out and play video games together off the site and talk about our days, another friend I am glad to have.

@Pureblood-Sin: If there is someone I need to have in a plotline or just generally joke with, it's you man! You are a funny, sweet, and caring guy who generally wants to see everyone succeed, I am lucky to write with you.

And to the COUNTLESS others I have nothing but nice things to say about, I am glad I have gotten to write with you or know you over the years I have been here! I love and thank you all for the memories made in this timeline and hope for even more in the next one <3

Your Friendly Neighborhood Apollyon!

Soooo, a few reasons. AND I SHALL BOTHER YOU ALL WITH IT!

I was first in a Star Wars roleplay (it was there where I began to love star wars and learn all about it) that .. didn't treat me nicely. They bullied me OOC, meta-gamed, tried to rape every possible girl IC, saying "if you don't agree, we'll banish your character into the abyss with some badass SM power" and so on. I kept coming back because STAR WAARSS. In the end, I became the master of Circle of Jedi Healers and even the Grandmaster of the Jedi, because everybody else gave up. Once that Star wars roleplay died off, I really missed Star Wars and the roleplay. This is when I found this forum. And boy, I fell in love with this website. This is my first real forum roleplay and I love it.

I come back because of the lovely people who I've met and all the joy and giggles. (Plus my English has gotten better ever since I joined this forum!) In special, @Ral Aran, @Marf, @Taruna and @Lamper. I don't have all the contact in the world with them, but they welcomed me here on Sw'rp with open arms and yeh. Nice people. Nice. Tho the admins are also super amazing. You guys are so far the best team of Admins I've ever seen before. Funny, amazing, yet also helpful, following their own rules.

Bye.

So in April 2014 when I was bored, I decided to search up "Star Wars RP" or something along those lines. When I joined, I was completely new and I didn't know much about the site as a whole. I remember my first character Kes(R.I.P) and how I devoted a lot of time to him. He was really the first character that I wanted to develop but I got bored with him one year later. I however will never forget the first rps I did with people such as @Steel @Kaane and with @Vexillar Those were some very good rp moments. The people that I mentioned were the first people that I rped on this site, and they are the reason why I will never forget how my character Kes helped me get to know people in this site and help develop my overall experience in this site.

@Flamjetxx is probably the closest person that I can talk to on this site and he has been someone that is very good to rp with. His character, Ark is probably the character I have rped a lot with. I also liked the rp I once did with @Lamper and my character Aura, as well as the rp I did with @Viabuck and @Ravensmark. They were rpes that I liked a lot, and I also liked the rps I have done with @Bronitarian

I won't forget @Despair since he was the first apprentice I took on the site, and we had a good small run. Secondly, I also won't forget @Kiser since I consider him a close friend and Lorn and Vaxvesh are bros.

This has been a good experience so far, and I hope to continue being a member of this site.

Earlier this year I made the decision to transfer to a different RP site with @Apollyon just to try it out, and it destroyed me. I couldn't stay a week there simply because I missed SWRP so much. RP is not even the main reason I stay, it's the friends I've made.

Ok ugh that's enough feels for one night... gotta go back to doing Sith stuff ;_;

I drink the haterade.

You're like a poet...a misunderstood poet.

There are a ton of people that have been nicer to me than I deserve here over the last couple of years. I actually had tried out one other site a couple days prior to signing up here, and they were not welcoming at all and were very closed off unless you were apart of the elite group. It always amazes me to see how welcoming everyone is here. The key to any thing like this is a strong community and I think you would be hard pressed to find a stronger one out there in the cold wasteland known as the internet. Thanks guys!

What made you join the forum, and what keeps you coming back?

Basically, in short, @Padmé is who kept me on the forum. I joined because I love to write, had fun on the one or two other RP boards I'd been on before, and am addicted to Star Wars. Like everybody else is stating though, and I think this stands as a testament to the community you've all helped to create and nurture, it has been the people, and the great experiences I have had with them, that has made me stick around.

This site is brilliant, I love the place. It wouldn't be complete without any one of the friends I've made over the few years I've been around, and every time someone has left we've always kept in touch, which is great. Back when I joined, Padmé helped me get set up, pointed me in the right directions, and turned me around when I ran into walls (which happened too much) - she is literally my second mother, as she well knows. So thanks Padmum, for helping me find my feet in what has ultimately grown to be one of my favourite places. ilu <3

After Padmé, I met a lot of great people. I'd struggle to remember exactly what order I met people in, but I think I really started to make close friends with people around about the time that the Jedi Shadow got set up. For those who were in the ephemeral group, you well know the antics of the Skype chats. So thanks to some of my earliest and best friends on the site in no particular order. @The Kyzer @TAC @Insoulent @Zapp Frankigan @GABA and plenty of others from that group. I continued to RP with you guys and girls for a long time.

I've met many great people who I'd have liked to have gotten to know better on here too, but due to activity, RL commitments, and other priorities, I never really got the chance to. So thanks for the talks, inspiration, and generally being cool to people like (and again, I'd struggle to name everyone) @The Duke @The Derp of Hooves @Jiang Winters and a special thanks and appreciation for the great friendship of a member who left the site unannounced @Butler

Next I suppose are the bae's that I never got to RP with a great deal, but are nevertheless great friends to me. @Marf and I have a lot in common, and get each others problems, several of mine she has helped me with. Marf is sweet, genuine, and caring, and I have all the time in the world for this girl - thanks for being a friend. @Apollyon or whatever your stoopid name is these days, you have been a real pal to me over the years, and I'd agree, we are scoundrels together and most definitely partners in crime. I can always chill with you and shoot the proverbial shit with you, and you've helped keep me here from day one with your intrigue and antics spicing things up. @Black Noise - you are just the ultimate bae. We've written a fair amount together, chatted a lot, and you're one of the nicest guys on this site, and it's always a laugh to read the trouble you get yourself into. @Bee and @Apocrypha - I suppose it's only fair to mention both of you peeps, since we all started RPing together over a year ago. Both of you I consider good friends, always up for a good gab or gossip, and both of you are very talented writers, and have pushed me to improve my own writing (without much success). I'd also like to thank my honorary internet dad @Rom for all the OOC support, discussion of your awesome off-site writing, and of course our plans for next timeline. You're an awesome writer and a great chap. Also thanks to a friend that I have made more recently @Sreeya. Let's also not forget my partner in crime and bellow brit @Nor'baal, and my two brilliant FL's and two great chaps @Raydo and @Ral Aran

A lot of the friends I have made are ones I haven't really done much on with the site in, or in some cases not at all. I'd like to say thanks for the hours of voice calls, hilarity, and slappings of my wrists when I espouse some stupid crap, and generally broadening my horizons to @Shiuzu @Johnnysaurus Rex @Moira/Prospero/HULKERO whatever your name is on the site atm. EDIT: Figured out it was @BLADE

I've also made great friends with the other members of the admin staff, and I'd like to thank all the girls and boys in that group for helping me learn more about the site, and for putting their trust in me, and not least for each being great friends in their own respect, current staff or emeritus. @Brandon Rhea @Green Ranger @Clayton @Lucid @Dmitri @Empress

Thank you to @TweedPawn for being one of my best friends on the site, and for sharing your love of all things artistic with me. Tweed has Skype called with me for probably in excess of a couple hundred hours, and typed for much longer, not to mention all the great threads we have been in together. Tweed is a sweet gal, and always takes time out of her day to hear me whine.

I'd like to give an individual thank you to the special man in my life @Pureblood-Sin - I kid, of course. Sin is one of my best friends on the site, and without a shadow of a doubt one of the nicest, most genuine, considerate, funny, and caring people I know. We've joked a lot, written a lot, planned a lot, shared our ideas, our woes, and our love of nerdy crap. I will be meeting up with Sin for a drink in blighty soon enough, but thanks for being a great mate.

So, sorry for the hideous length of this, and apologies to anyone I have missed (I know a lot of people fall under this category, and I love you all regardless), but I feel like I have just got a lot of friends worth mentioning and a lot of memories worth sharing from my time on this wonderful site. I've been to a few places, and we have the best community, the best people, admins, stories, and systems of any site I have been a part of. So thanks to you all!
