Jayna could grow accustomed to Cinnagar. From her exclusive balcony, the Thorne heiress could see across the Capital City for miles without end - watching the countless speeders that zipped across the evening sky. The horizon glittered with the lights of skyscrapers, commercial buildings and palatial residences that comprised the Core District.

It was a world of difference from the canel-carved streets of Theed, where Jayna had spent much of her upbringing and education and internships. Her move to Empress Teta had been a recent decision - motivated almost entirely by her own ambitions on the planet. The Republic had collapsed upon itself, and it left the door wide open for those seeking the opportunity to make their political debut. It was an arena that the Thorne heiress would need to navigate carefully, without the immediate support that her name provided within the Consortium.

Stepping away from the balcony, Jayna turned her gaze back to the spacious hotel suite. She was dressed in an expensive and business-y black dress, coupled with a gemstone necklace that hung from her neck and a Bonheur clutch tucked under her arm.

Jayna knew the next steps would be.. Difficult. And it was for precisely that reason that the heiress had brought hired help. The reputation of Aska Ryun was legendary across the Galaxy, and the Thorne family were among the few that were able to afford it these days. She could only hope that word-of-mouth accurately reflected what the Mercenary had to offer.

The sound of a buzzer at the door caught Jayna’s attention - prompting the heiress to wave down her protocol droid. “Twelves,” She said simply, gesturing for the servant to answer.

Aska groaned as she held out her arms, allowing the security detail to pat her down as they searched for any weapons on her person though she had already surrendered it all willingly. Perhaps she should have been accustomed to such precautions by now, especially when working with anyone with a name as influential as Thorne, but it always proved to be an irritation.

”Hey! Watch the hands, buddy!” the clone complained as the security officer patted down her right thigh. ”You really think I’m going to try and smuggle something in there?” she continued, resisting the urge to raise her knee into the man’s chin. After all, anything these men and women could attempt against her was moot. Should something happen to Jayna during this meeting, it was the heiress’ father that Aska would worry about.

“I’m just doing my job,” he replied plainly before stepping back and nodding his approval that she was clean. Dropping her arms, two armed guards would walk the clone to the door of the penthouse before buzzing for access. ”Some fucking job,” she muttered under her breath as she rolled her shoulders to straighten her leather jacket.

As she expected, the penthouse was immaculate. The view from the balcony, awe inspiring. Then there was the woman who stood before her. Tall, sophisticated, beautiful, with the same piercing eyes that Aska had only seen in one other being before. ”There’s no mistaking who you are, Miss Thorne,” Aska began as she stepped ahead of the two guards who cautiously eyed the merc, prepared for the unlikely circumstance that she would prove to be troublesome. ”and there’s no point in introducing myself. If you’re anything like your father, you already knew everything you needed to before your people contacted me. So, what can I do for you?”

It didn’t take very long for a notification to be forwarded to Jayna’s commlink - alerting her that Aska was cleared by security. The heiress was certain that the Legend wouldn’t do anything stupid, both due to who Jayna was and the lack of benefit in doing so. Even still, there were protocols to be followed and extensive security was one of them.

Just as the buzzer was engaged, the door hissed open - revealing the protocol droid that was waiting just off to the left. Azure photoreceptors lifted to gaze back at the legendary mercenary, causing the droid to bend forward at the waist. “Welcome, mistress.” It spoke in a mechanized voice, gesturing her inside and to where Jayna was patiently waiting for the potential hire.

“Ms. Ryun,” Jayna said smoothly as she approached, extending a hand to shake the mercenaries' own. “It is a pleasure,” Elevated by the heels she wore, Jayna towered over Aska by several inches - not unlike the father from whom she inherited those piercing silvers.

“Clear the room,” She said with a simple gesture to her security, opting the guards to make their exit. Another gesture was made to her protocol droid, who began to prepare refreshment for the two women. “And if I am anything like my father,” Jayna began, jutting her chin towards a chair for Aska to have a seat. The heiress remained standing herself, hands folded neatly in front of her. “Then you know I will make this worth your time.”

Just as Twelves returned with a tray of drinks, Jayna gestured to a holo beacon placed onto the table. “There is an individual here Cinnagar I would like to see removed from Royal politics,” The device activated to reveal the middle-aged face of the man, balding and dressed in the finest Tetan regalia. “Cornelius Temaros. Relatively unimportant noble - but hails from a particularly old family, tracing their line back to Empress Teta herself. He is without heirs and had spent the past several years squandering what remains of his family fortune. One scandal away from ruin.”

She idly tapped her fingers against the forearm of her other hand. “The payout will be considerable - assuming we are able to uncover enough dirt for Mr. Temaros to make his exit from Teta - without fanfare or protest.”

Aska winced as the protocol droid referred to her as ‘Mistress’, a title she both loathed and missed simultaneously. Quickly she pushed past it as she shook Jayna’s hand whilst being forced to look up at the heiress. As the guards departed, if they were to look back they would see a snide sneer from the mercenary, but quickly she returned her attention to the woman she had come here to see.

”Why do you think I came in such a rush?” Aska half joked as she approached the luxurious sofa, quickly falling back into its cushions and throwing a booted foot up on the table, her arms spread wide across the back and armrest. The comparison between the two couldn’t be more stark if one tried to find as such.

Jayna would continue to elaborate on the job she had in store, and though Aska listened to every word, her eyes fixated on the tray of drinks that had been brought over. Selecting one for herself and leaning back in her seat, she took a sip of what could only be described as the finest brandy she’d ever tasted.

”Bald men freak me out,” the clone replied plainly. ”Finding some skeletons in his closet should be easy enough, but I have to ask,” She paused to take another swig from the cup. ’So fucking good,’ she mused silently. ”Why not just kill him? Do Cinnagar the favor and wipe him off the board for good. No heirs, no family. No one would miss him,” she finished, waving her hand nonchalantly as her arm laid across the back of the sofa. Politics were, of course, something Aska had little concern for. Digging up dirt on some creepy old man was easy enough and something she had every faith she could accomplish, but where was the satisfaction in that?

Jayna allowed her gaze to linger on Aska - observing how the legendary Mercenary nonchalantly fell into the couch, arms splayed across its back. All the while, the Heiress continued to stand just opposite to her, posture and demeanor poised to perfection. The contrast between them couldn’t have been more obvious, complete with a mirror at the far side of the room that reflected it.

Eventually, the quarter-Sephi found her seat across from Aska - keeping her hand neatly folded in her lap. The description of the job as simple was certainly pleasant to hear, though she paused for only a moment when Aska questioned the method of eliminating Temaros from Tetan politics.

Internally, Jayna couldn’t help the hesitation and squeamishness that came with the through of assassinating some harmless old man. Tetan politics were bloodthirsty and cutthroat. It was a reality she needed to grasp - but she wasn’t quite prepared to start ordering actual hit-jobs. No more than she was prepared to take the life of her would-be pirate kidnappers, only months ago.

Her answer, however, came with only a momentary pause. “Dead men generate questions and scrutiny. Retired men do not.” She said, the ice in her voice matching the glint behind her silver eyes.

“What happens to him after he leaves Teta isn’t my problem.” She said simply.

“How do you intend to get in?” She asked after a moment, curious to see what method Aska planned to employ for the operation ahead. Jayna knew she needed to personally be involved for the late stages of her plot, at the very least, but other details were still largely in the air.

With a roll of her eyes partnered with a smirk, Aska took another swig of the brandy in her hand. While things were usually evidently cut and dry for the merc, the heiress had a more astute mind to the political fallout that came with a man being smudged off the board so completely. ”Shame,” she replied as she placed the glass on the table ahead of her briefly, just beside the coaster that was laid out by the protocol droid that served Jayna. ”I think I’d have enjoyed that,”

Infiltrating the home of the aristocracy of any world was not a simple endeavor, this much she knew. Their entire lives were often lived behind pulled curtains, only glimpses of what transpired behind them slithering out into the open. Undoubtedly any penthouse or estate Temaros resided in would be chalked with security, even if the noble was to spend his time elsewhere. Slipping in and out unnoticed would be near impossible.

There was always another path she could take; one she had sworn in the past that she would never tread again but this wasn’t your average client hiring her. Given the past working relationship she had established with Emryc, it was only reasonable that Aska be more flexible in her methods for his daughter. The clone begrudgingly pulled out her nalphone and began searching up upcoming events that were to take place on Teta.

”Creepy ass bald dude, a gala being held following a symposium regarding trade deals following the fall of the New Republic and Free Worlds Alliance. Wouldn’t be hard to catch his attention at something like that. Though it would be double my usual rate. These sort of things may be your cup of caf but they aren’t it for me,” the clone replied as she tossed the nalphone on the table and retrieved her glass of brandy, finishing it off in a solid swig before smirking at the heiress as she returned it to the table. ”I’m sure you gathered that by now, though,”
