Jump Training

[Bad Wolf]

Jenna put a notice up on the Barracks bulletin board.

Jump training today at noon at the airfield.

and promptly headed to the airfield, she prepped several Grav chutes and a couple of drop pods each equipped with high endurance Grav chutes, she placed each chute on a table and suited up herself, attaching her own Grav chute to her armor, she then sat back and waited for either trainees to show or her drop ship which ever came first.

Allison approached Jenna with Levy behind her as she spoke looking at the table. "So got room? Always good to keep fresh." Allison grinned more rolling her shoulders and moved near Jenna. Se was rather looking forward to getting a new skill never knew when dropping on an enemy would help.

Jenna glanced up as her squad mate approached, she nodded and handed both Alison and Levy chutes.

"been wanting to bone up on my jump skills, the last job made me realize how much i missed it."

Jenna looked around and was hopeful that others would join, Rangers were few and far between, but jump training was a worth while skill to learn.

Allison nodded as she took the chute and looked at Levy who was holding it. "What are you scared of jumping?" "I am not scared of jumping.. I am scared I won't be able to reach by guns when I am falling." Allison laughed as they suited up and she looked at Jenna. "So ready to practice or do you want to wait for more people?"

Jenna smiled before strapping her helmet on and sealing her suit. she then took both her guns out of their holsters and put them in a foot locker next to the main table.

"No guns this run, we're just doin a couple of practice jumps, and goin over standard HALO operations, our suits will be flushed with oxygen as we ascend in the drop ship, this will take approximately 30-45 minutes, once we reach a height of 35,000 + feet the door will open and we will drop from the vessel we do not open our Chutes until a height of 2,500 feet.

Jenna demonstrated how to pull the cord on her chute using one of the practice chutes lying on the table.

"Your wrist comp will have an altitude gauge linked up to it to display the proper height, speed and angle of descent, each chute has glide wings for maneuvering during descent, we will work on drop maneuvers later though for now we just need to work on proper chute technique."

Jenna demonstrated the glide wings attached to the chutes and how they attached to the arms and legs on Beskar'Gam.

"Our LZ is approximately 3 miles away from base which we will have to make our way back to before our next jump, this shouldn't be too difficult."

Jenna headed out towards the waiting drop ship, looking back over he shoulder only once, she boarded the Ship and waited for the rest of the team to climb aboard before shutting the door.

Allison and Levy followed as Jenna got into the drop ship. Allison was fine with it and Levy was bored so she followed getting on board and let the doors close as she popped her knuckles and neck. "Alright lets head out and get some good jumps in." "I need a drink."

Jenna clicked the comm's and spoke briefly

"Take us up pilot."

as the ship ascended Jenna sinked her wrist comp with the proper jump data, and GPS coordinates, she then went about checking all the chutes to make sure everything was in order, after double checking everything she sat down on the bench and waited for the green light, the total flight time lasted for roughly 1 hour and then the light flashed green and the back hatch of the drop ship opened up, they were at roughly 40,000 feet and it was a beautiful day.

"Ok ladies it's go time."

Jenna held onto the running bar and signaled for the Allison and Levy to "exit" the drop ship.

Allison nodded as she took a breathe and jumped going in a swan dive while Levy looked at Jenna and rolled her shoulders standing at the edge and jumped up flying backwards. She curled and came out of it with a grin. "Wish I could have a smoke."

Jenna watched the 2 jump from the back end of the Drop ship and then stepped into the void and began her descent towards Mandalore.

"Head back to base pilot we'll see you in 3 hours, Out."

Jenna had held her arms out and let the glide wings take control as she free fell towards the planet, she watched for the other 2 squad members and then folded her arms back and aimed herself straight down accelerating until she had caught up with Allison and Levy and then she unfirled the glide wings again and slowed her fall, she tapped her wrist comp making sure Levy and Allison could see her.

Allison looked up as she saw Jenna and nodded using the glide wings to slow and form up near her. She didn't want to know how fast they were falling but she could see Levy who seemed to be having a good time and moving in gyrations like she was listening to music while they descended.

Jenna Pointed down towards the ground with 1 finger, using her hand to motion in that direction she then gave a thumbs up folded her arms back and rocketed past Allison and Levy building speed as she went, she activated the HUD in her helmet via voice command so she could watch her speed and altitude and signal the others when to open their Grav Chutes, she thought to herself as she was rocketing towards the planet.

"We'll have to see if we implement this tactic in space using jet packs to board enemy vessels."

Jenna's HUD flashed Yellow she had reached 6,500 feet and falling fast, she waited when her HUD flashed 4,500 feet she unfirled her glide wings and shot up rapidly slowing to a crawl, her HUD flashed 3,000 feet and she radioed the girls.

"Chute deployment in 5....4....3....2....1, OPEN!"

Jenna opened her Grav chute and jerked up as it deployed and the wind caught it, at the same time the Grav wings and maneuver jets deployed and she could better steer towards the marked LZ, she decended towards the ground and at about 15 feet dropped the chute entirely and fell the rest of the distance rolling as she landed, she began packing her chute back up and turned to watch for Allison and Levy.

Allison watched as Jenna sped forward and as it came time to open the chute she did jerking up and working to make it towards the marked LZ. Slowly she came down and released landing with a heavy thud. Allison began to pack her chute as she looked at Levy who came down and dropped landing and took her helmet off. "Oh that was better then straddliong a torpedo, lets go again I want to do some flips."

Jenna nodded as both women landed, and then turned and headed back towards base, the 3 mile hike through the dense jungle shouldn't take more than 1 maybe 2 hours at best, assuming no problems along the way.

"the purpose of this exercise is to familiarize you with the basic functions of a grav chute, I also wanna do some Night jumps and mock Combat jumps, as well as make use of the drop pods I have."

Jenna chuckled slightly, taking off her helmet and smelling the Mandalorian Air, it would probably rain soon because she could smell moisture in the air.

"after a few more successful jumps i can give you all your jump badges, I do hope there will be more people back at base when we get back, yeah alot of Mando'ade can use jet packs but how many can use a Grav Chute properly?"

Levy walked and was grinning as she hiked. She gave a small cough but it was while she had a cig in her mouth. "Oh that will be fun, the rush the excitement. Imagine doing that with a large rocket launcher or my cutlesses oh I could just see the heads popping in combat." Allison kept hiking as she remained in her helmet but looked forward. "Levy what happened to make you so....?" "So what so awesome and exciting? Oh you mean the killing well it is fun watching the look in their eyes when they realize it is all over. Besides what should I be a hardened killer who can't crack a smile? No ma'am I want to grin and being a serious soldier would be I couldn't smoke. And I need those for lighting fuses." Allison rolled her eyes and kept on ready to get back to the air field with Jenna.

"enjoying your job is one thing, getting off on it is another, Levy you seem to "enjoy" killing a little too much, let's see if we can't reign that in a little, especially if we ever take on a stealth mission, your mouth might get us captured or killed."

Jenna tried not being too harsh but it was just how she was, she was a veteran of many combat fields and she had seen many soldiers like Levy killed because of over zealousness or lack of attention, she didn't want that to happen to this new squad of hers.

Jenna climbed over a fallen tree and slid down one of the giant branches landing on the ground with a thud.

"Besides Levy if you keep up with your yammering you're likely to attract every critter in the forest and we wouldn't want that, especially since it means I won't be able to give you your new armor upon completion of this course."

Jenna cracked a smile knowing full well that would peak her interest.

Levy looked at Jenna and spoke. "Hey if I am going to kill people might as well like it. Now for stealth missions count me out. Take Zoe with you she won't speak unless you touch her then she'll scream and you'll get caught... Then it is old two hands to the rescue with heads popping and shots flying and oh the explosions." Allison laughed a little as she looked at Jenna and jumped down keeping on the path back. "Also armor always good to get."

The trek back to base was long and arduous it took about 1 1/2 hours to trek back through the jungle, the Drop ship was already back and refueling, it's pilot sitting at the table with the weapons smoking a cig and drinking a cup of coffee, He jumped up when Jenna entered the hangar, she merely motioned him back to what he was doing, by all accounts he out ranked her, he was a pilot after all, but she understood this was her training exercise and she was the NCO-IC currently.

"you can bring your weapons with you this time Levy, but only what you can safely carry and still operate one of the chutes with."

Jenna holstered both her pistols and strapped her REC-74 across her chest in such a position that she could snap draw it and fire if need be.

"the idea here is to get used to Jumping with Full tactical load out ."

Jenna checked her cartridges and headed back to the Drop ship.

Allison looked at the weapons and grabbed her blaster and rifle while Levy took her cutlesses and pistols hostering two under her arms and two at her hips. The two walked back towards the ship and got in while Levy held a sig up and fired a shot to make the barrel glow red shot as she lit it. The shot went into the air and Levy grinned running her hands under the cutlesses strapped to her chest. "Oh lets get it on."

Jenna looked back towards the hangar and shrugged, she knocked on the cockpit and gave the pilot a thumbs up and than climbed up into the back hatch sealing it behind her as the Drop ship took off again, once they reached the proper elevation Jenna opened the back hatch, checking to make sure her wrist comp was properly sinked, she double checked to make sure gear was properly secured and then gave the go and signaled for the others to exit from the drop ship.

Levy grinned and moved as she jumped out and shouted. "Banzai..." Allison watched the woman go andd jumped checking her stuff and then the rifle as she padded it across her chest and jumped seeing levy with her regular guns instead of the cutlesses. Didn't want to accidentally lose thise.
