Fever Dreams

"I don't know, Fluffy. There's something wrong. Master Haven's warned me about feelings like these. I may not have the foresight of a jedi master, but I know it's a disturbance in the force... I don't like this, boy." She stood out on the ledge, looking over the ecuminopolis that was coruscant, petting the Gizka under the chin, and venting her concerns. Her face got long as she gazed out as far as her eye could see once more.

Before The Council
Before the council she stood, her master back on tython, sure to be enjoying the break from her padawan despite their bonds. She'd only been in front of the council once twice before, once before she was padawan Misha, and she was Misha Ivanovna, and the other time was with Haven. This time she stood before them, representing herself. She made damn sure to be on her best behaviour.
"Before the council you stand, padawan. The republic has requested the aid of the Jedi. There has been a murder, possibly an assassination of two diplomats on the planet, alderaan. The murders were believed to be conducted using a lightsaber, whether or not the user was a force user was not determined.
We present this to you for we believe you to be best fitted for the task of tracking down the murderer. You will be accompanying a republic S.O.L.A.G. member in this task of tracking down and bringing this, murderer, to justice."
The master spoke to Misha with a soothing voice. He knew something she didn't, he wasn't telling her something and Misha knew it. It was a test maybe, a trial.
Misha curtsied before the council, "Yes master, thank you master jedi."

At this, almost on Que, entered into the room a man. He was dressed in a republic officer's unifrom, his coal-black hair hung in his face a little, barely covering his frosty blue eyes. Misha could tell he wasn't one for spiffy looks, but his scarred skin told her he was definitely a very experienced man.
"This is Gamble, your partner on this investigation. You will be by his side and he, by yours. Young padawan, do be mindful of your emotions. Remember the Jedi code, for what you may find may be too much for you."
"Yes master, thank you master jedi."
She wanted to ask what he meant, but she would just call patience and find out for herself. Turning to Gamble she curtsied one last time extending a hand to shake. And began for the exit.

Billy wasn't the biggest fan of wearing the proper Navy uniform... ever. He -much- preferred his silkworm attire and rugged duster. Today though, or at least this morning, he was going to stand before the Jedi Council, albeit rather briefly. That certainly warranted pulling it out and ensuring all the ribbons and medals were adjusted appropriately. He added his Petty Officer Development ribbon, even though he found it to be rather silly.

Upon being let into the Council chambers, it was -very- brief. He'd already received a good bit of intel on the mission they were to accomplish; he'd just yet to meet the Jedi he would be partnered with. As the female human Padawan named Misha curtsied, Gamble thought it proper to lay a hand over his heart and offer a light bow as well, forehead dipping as he did so.

Then the young lady offered her hand to Billy in a form of greeting as they began to depart the Jedi Council Chambers. Taking her hand in both of his, Gamble offered, "A pleasure to meet you Jedi. If you're ready, my ship has been prepared and awaits us." Thankfully, his duster and other more relaxed attire was on-board. He'd change the first opportunity he had, heh.

As they walked along, he glanced over at the young Padawan, "Not often am I sent out on a mission with a Jedi. Rather lookin' forward to it." He smiled cordially as they made their way down the winding corridors. Stomach growling lightly, Billy remembered that he'd had a few Mongo beefhead sliders waiting for him on his ship. Offering as they strolled, Billy added, "I've a few sliders aboard if'n you're hungry. Hot an' ready. You're more than welcome t'have y'self one 'fore we take off."

The man was alot more formal and pleasant than she'd had expected. Her stomach was uneasy from the mission. At the mention of food, Misha wanted to cringe but instead politely declined.
"Er- No thank you sir, I appreciate the offer but I'm feeling a little uneasy. Well this is my first time working with any republic officers, I'm looking forward to it too." She lifted a hand to her abdomen.
As soon as she got on the ship, she'd inject a couple of stim-packs to ease her stomach and make her a little numb.

Inside the ship she decided that she'd try and talk a bit to Gamble, maybe get to know him a bit better once the stim-packs took the edge off.
Seating herself in the co-pilot's spot which was apparently not specifically reserved for anyone.
She leaned back and waited for take-off, waited for him to finish up in his quarters.
When he returned back to the pilot's seat, changed of clothes, Misha looked to her left, hand still on her stomach, and with a warm smile asked him, "You alright, buddy? Hope you don't starve. Heh."

KRATH!! Was it good to be out of that monkey suit... WHEW!! The relief!! Gamble hung it up neatly, silently praying that it'd be at -least- a couple of months before he had to throw that thing on again. It just wasn't his style. He grabbed up the sliders as he made his way to the pilot's seat. The young Jedi was already up there waiting for him it seemed. Least she was patient. A plus already.

"You alright, buddy? Hope you don't starve. Heh." She'd made a bit of a funny as she displayed some concern for him. Smiling warmly, Billy laid the plate down atop a console that he wouldn't need to access just yet, the Mongo beefhead sliders appearing hot and greasy with cheese melting down the sides and onto the plate. Yummy!!

Glancing over at her, Billy noted that she was easy on the eyes. That was nice. Help the flight go by quicker. He replied back to her as he began to work his fingers over the controls, "I'll be fine. Tried t'go light on breakfast this mornin' for my big date with the Jedi Council." He chuckled lightly as he said as much, then contacted the ground crew to ensure they were ready for his departure.

They were. Quirking an eyebrow as he looked over at Misha inquisitively, Billy asked, "So, ready t'git this show on the road?" He smiled warmly, then noted her hand over her stomach. Oh man... another space-sick Jedi? Oh well... least I got the bags for it. Leaning over, he retrieved a plain white paperish-bag. "Jus' in case," he said as he offered it to her. Krath was he thankful he had stocked up on a few of those things. You just never knew when one would come in handy. Heh.

Deciding to distract her a bit, Billy further inquired, "So... how long you been with the Jedi Order eh? And oh... I'm a Petty Officer. Enlisted." He winked over at her as he added, the ship just now beginning to take off, "That means I actually -work- for a living." He chuckled lightly at his own little joke; a bit of a jab at the Officer Corps. Too bad there wasn't an Officer here to defend them, but then again, that would imply that they would be... *gasp* working!

Misha took the bag, confused for a second than realized that he must have been concerned for her ill appearance.
"Oh... Heh, I won't need these, it's just... Something's not right. I just don't feel okay about this mission. It's like there's a disturbance in the force."
The shuttle lifted off of the ground, backing out of the hangar before turning one-hundred eighty degrees and wooshing off into the atmosphere.
"Petty officer? Hmm... Well telling from your scarres I would imagine you know how to handle a blaster. As for me being a Jedi, I'm only a padawan..." The stim-packs' effects faded away and she felt a bit normal again, and the edginess she felt was thrown in the back of her head as she shook off the feelings.
"Ah, alderaan... Should be easy for me to track down somebody in aldera, I grew up there. I just hope I'm not seen by- Well... Nevermind."

Chuckling as he shook his head, Billy immediately responded to her remark about not being seen by... "Oh No you don't," he began as he smiled cheekily from ear to ear. "You can't start a sentence out like that an' then jus' stop once you git to th' end." Pointing down at the console, he further pressed as he inquired, "WHO are you going to be trying to avoid once we get to Alderaan... and why?"

He gave her a semi-serious look as he worked the controls, plugging coordinates into the hyperspace computer. Adding, he went on, "Look, we're workin' this thing as a team... so we should -both- be fully aware of any potential... hang-ups, that we might come across." Rolling two fingers, he continued, "Be that old boyfriends, ex-lovers, crazy uncles, half-wit sisters... what have you."

Now he began to wonder just what he had gotten himself into. A real life mission with a Jedi Padawan? To her home planet? Where all of her history was? Well, as much of a history that Jedi had on their home planets. He found himself wondering if that were even possible, since the Jedi took Force sensitives at such a young age. In a way, that was kind of a sad deal.

Glancing over at Misha, he wondered if she even really got to -know- her parents. Did she have any siblings? Perhaps a twin? Did she even -know- if she had a crazy uncle? Krath... all the things those Jedi missed out on... but then again, there was a lot that they didn't either. Exactly... like using the Force. Shaking his head, Gamble gripped the throttle that would send the ship into hyperspace.

Mishas head hung low on her neck like her necklace for a second before looking up at Gamble,
"My parents and I don't have the best of relationships... I assume they don't know where I am right now, considering that I ran away to join the jedi instead of sit in the university they hand-picked for me...
My mother's a veteran judge in the alderaanian systems democratic legislative courts, and my father an ambassador for trade rights and intergalactic laws concerning trades for the alderaan system...
They probably have eyes and ears everywhere."
It was the whole reason that she hadn't returned to the planet before... She was afraid to face her parents in light of what she had done behind their backs. She led her own life now, and they wouldn't understand.
The whole mission put her on edge, along with the bad feeling in the force she had. And to make it worse, she had to be an open investigator. How could she possibly 'not' attract attention?
"I don't know how serious it is, but I suggest that you allow me to hood myself at all times, and that we may want to avoid any leads requiring that we work with law enforcement, but out on the field by ourselves. Out with the criminals..."

Her legs started to jitter, and her arms got goose-bumps.
It was a little too cold in the shuttle for her, or maybe she was just nervous. Either way she reached for the controls to activate heat conditioner. She played with the bouncy curls in her hair with her fingers, winding them up with a finger and than letting them go...

Gamble just listened as Misha went on to explain about the relationship, or lack thereof, that she had with her parents. He found it curious that she had run away to join the Jedi Order. He had figured that she'd probably been taken by the Order... but apparently they didn't catch everyone. Huh... He wondered briefly how many others they had... missed.

So her parents were both pretty political it sounded like. A lot of folks liked to make friends with politicians, so it only made sense regarding her remark about them having eyes and ears everywhere. Her request to hood herself at all times was an easy one to comply with. "No problem on th' hood," he remarked, bobbing his head easily.

Offering, he made a suggestion, "Y'know, -I- could interact with local law enforcement if it helps further our investigation. I'd hate to stump a trail for... personal reasons." It wasn't that he didn't want to be stuck working just with the criminal element, but certainly there would be some information that they could gather from the local police that would be of some benefit to them.

Either way, they were a team, though she had technically been placed in charge of the investigation. If she wanted to run it the way she had just said, then Billy Ray would go happily along with it. After a few moments, he inquired, "Would it be -that- big of a deal if we ran into your parents? Seems t'me that it might prove beneficial.. so long as it opens up the opportunity to get a little research from the local law enforcement."

He didn't want to push it, but thought that he would be remiss if he didn't at least offer the suggestion. Glancing over at her, he quirked an inquisitive eyebrow as he awaited her response.

Ooc. I amnow officially on my phone untile get internet with a computer. If there is a post that is unfinishe, than i will immediately pick up in a second post. Refer to my sig.

Nodding her head, Misha listened to her partners reason. The comment on him working with the enforcement didnt seem to bad, actually she figured if she lurked in the shadows and discussed the matters with Gamble than nothing ill would come of it.
"Well than i will conceal myself at all times, the shadows i will stay to. Let you do the talking, and me lead the way."

she paused for a moment, imaginin what wit would be like if she were o meet her parents. They would be ashamed, she believed. They had such high hopes for her and she threw them to the wind.

"It really wouldnt, and i believe for the best interests in our emotional aspect of the mission kept in mind, it be best to avoid them if it all possible." she twiddeled her thumbs. . . She was kind of anxious to get it all over and done with.

"So where you from exactly?" she asked only o attempt to change subjects.

By her response, Billy could tell that Misha was pretty much unwavering in her decision -not- to meet with her parents. That was a little curious to him; what with her being a Jedi and all, but he would abide by her wishes nonetheless. It was her mission anyway. He nodded his head along as she went on to further explain just how they would work and operate together.

Smiling over at her warmly, Billy replied, "Sounds good t'me Jedi." His fingers danced atop the console as he ran a routine maintenance check while the ship was in hyperspace. The passing stars and such were incredible to gaze upon, and Gamble -never- got tired of watching them go by. It was a thing of incredible beauty.

Without turning his attention from the view port, Billy replied, "I'm from Corellia." He then gestured to the first-class bloodstripes on his pants that he wore with great pride, slowly turning a broad smile towards her. His gaze turning back to the stars, he went on, "I had grown up always bein' interested in law enforcement an' such," he began as he told his story, "and while pursuing my higher education, I did some volunteer work at the local police station."

Quirking a quick grin over at her, he went on, "Wasn't long b'fore I began to pursue a career in it, joinin' planetary security, did some heavy work there, earned m'stripes, an' was advised t'move onto th' Navy." He shrugged as he paused for a moment. "The Navy was -real- good t'me an' I'm glad I went. It wasn't long before I was workin' in special ops with m'squad, the Dragon Snakes."

Adjusting his duster and unbuttoning the top part of his shirt, Billy revealed the coiled-up Dragon Snake tattoo that he had on his right shoulder. It was a fierce-looking thing, with great detail and a distinct beauty to it. He was about to cover back up as he added, "They stood up SOLAG an' my squad was mos'ly absorbed up into tha'.... Haven't looked back ever since."

Raising his eyebrows a couple of times at her, Deacon quieted himself as he let that be the end of his talking. If she wanted to comment or remark on it was entirely up to her. For now though, he turned his attention back to the passing stars as he began to readjust his attire, covering up his shoulder once again.

So he was corellian... He was undoubtfully a veteran, and she knew shed gotten lucky with this one. If any fights were to break out than shed at least have someone decent covering her ass.
She mulled over his tattoo, almost wanting to touch it, its detail was amazing.
She didnt have much to say, other than ask if there was another slider. She figured she probably wouldnt be able to get anything to eat once planetside.

"you got another one of those?" she didnt want to sound rude, but she didnt know how else to ask.

"Certainly," Billy replied with an easy smile, running his fingers over the controls as he ensured it was set to autopilot. "Be right back," he replied as he walked to the back area, a small kitchenette of sorts where he kept most of his food stashed away. It only took him a few moments to warm up the third slider that he was too full to even touch, plate warm to the touch as the cheese oozed down the sides of the Mongo beefhead slider.

Retrieving a light blue tinted glass, Gamble opened up the fridge and pulled out a jug of blue milk. He filled it about a finger's width from the rim before replacing the jug back in the fridge. "Might want one'a these..." he said to himself as he snatched up a handtowel. The slider was a bit greasy, and it was just good etiquette to offer something to wipe her hands on... besides their pants, heh.

As a bit of a side, Billy added a quarter-slice of pickle. He wasn't sure if she'd like it or not, but figured that at least it would be a nice gesture on his part. He returned back to the cockpit and offered, "One slider an' a glass a'blue milk miss." Setting both down neatly beside her, Gamble retook his seat and checked over the controls; force of habit.

Looking over at her as he quirked an eyebrow, Billy inquired, "So... how you likin' the Jedi Order then? What's it like? Bein' a Jedi an' all... I imagine it's gotta be pretty neat most of th' time... perhaps feelin' a bit like a goddess of sorts?" He'd gone out on a limb with that last remark, but force users were an impressive lost... mostly. The abilities that they had... Whew..

She took the slider in both hands. The napkin would come in handy three fold.
"the order... Tis my dream." she pronounced.
"I had this life. This horrible life set before me like plans to a house. Go to the university, graduate, become a doctor, or a senator, be stuck up, get married, get told what to do, etc. But I'm not the one who layed out the plans. It just wasnt who I am.
So i kind of- escaped, if you will, their will. I, without their knowledge, joined the order and have never spoken since. For all they know, I could be dead."
she continued her story, maybe the story itself would explain her and her parents' relationship a little more and her desire not to meet them.
"a goddess, no. I see the masters of the order as gods to be honest. I always saw the jedi to be like gods. But im not even done with training, and im not a goddess in any way in my honest opinion." she looked down, her head hung low again with her modesty.

After tearing into the delicacy that the man called a mongo beefhead, she paused, eyes widened.

"This... Very well might be one of the greatest things i have ever tasted."
she continued as she tore away at the food.

Billy remained silent as Misha spoke of her parents and their... plans.. for her life. Shaking his head lightly, he was thankful that his own hadn't lined up anything such thing for him. He had a good... well... GREAT relationship with his parents, but now wasn't the time to bring that up. It'd be a poor move on his part if he did so.

Staying quiet for a few moments, Billy chuckled lightly at her remark about the slider being the greatest thing she has ever tasted. She didn't say anything about the pickle, but hadn't touched it yet either. Pursing his lips as he glanced over, he added, "Yeah... they're not quite the healthiest thing out there for ya... but then again, if it were, it wouldn't taste so good, heh."

Chuckling a bit to himself, he simply bobbed his head. The sliders were a personal favorite of his as well. Then, a sudden thought hit him. "Say... so what sort of... rules... do they put on you at the Temple? I mean, I heard you all were supposed t'be celibate an' such. All tha' really true? No -real- personal belongin's and such... Do you have to refuse gifts that are present'd to ya? B'cause, I'd think that'd be a bit of an offensive gesture..."

He drew silent as he awaited a response. Hopefully, his questions weren't too offensive or blunt. Perhaps he shouldn't be asking such of a Padawan... but then again, if he asked these of a Master, he would probably receive a censored... or standard-sanitized response.

She took the pickle in hand and bit into it, juicy and delicious. She loved pickles, and blue milk. She chased down her next couple bites of the slider with milk, finishink it all off.

"well no, i guess there not healthy. But i find alot of great tasting things out there that are completly organic, yea most of them I have to cook myself, but thats okay." she thought it was good to bond with her partner a bit before conducting a mission with him, i mean. Her life may even depend on him at some point, and his on her.

"The order has an extensive amount of rules and regulations and many ways that they uphold them.
Alot of times they do consider exceptions, especially based on beliefs and lifestyle prior to joining the order. Well. . . It also depends on when you join. Younglings have rules imposed on them more harsh and from the beginning to breed more perfect'like jedis. Late bloomers like me are allowed certain exceptions. I myself have a pet gizka, a ship, and all of my clothes... But im sure they wouldnt allow me to be involved sensualy, which is okay to me."

The sensual remark totally missed Billy as he chuckled at a thought... Quirking an eyebrow, he looked over at Misha rather humorously as he inquired, "You have a pet Gizka?" He laughed some more as his shoulders rolled, shaking his head as he did so. Eyes all lit up, he further inquired, "What's its name? Frogger? Hopz? Toodles?" He was just teasing playfully, but still thought that having a pet Gizka was, at the least, entertaining.

Shaking his head, he raised a hand as he apologized.... kinda, "I'm sorry, but I jus'... guess I didn't think a Jedi would have a pet Gizka." Calming himself -only- a bit, he continued to muse, "I mean, I didn't suppose Jedi had pets... Maybe a Nexu... or even a Kowakian monkey-lizard, heh, but NEVER would I have suspected a pet Gizka."

He smirked over at her, still clearly humored by the thought of it all before finally relenting as he nodded slowly, "I guess you Jedi are people too though eh? Not demi-gods of logic and justice..." Taking a deep breath, Billy exhaled slowly as he sat back and calmed himself, though the look on his face betrayed plainly that he was still, highly amused.

Misha hung her head low, laughing along with him. It was only honest teasing after all.
"Well. . . If you find it funny i suppose i shouldnt tell you his name. Heh. It's fluffy.

. . . And no. I suppose we are regular people too, but we certaintly arent normal, At least in my opinion its not something normal to jump fifty feet, or to conjure up some lightning bolts out of your finger-tips, or to change somebody's mind. Isnt normal." she laughed again, this time at her own words.

"er- shit."
she clenched her stomach. Whatever it was that she felt was back. It felt a severe pain through the force as the ship dropped out of warp speed and her own home planet came into her vision.
Something just was not right about this.

Billy smirked at the name Fluffy. Such a cute name, heh. Again, it didn't exactly fit a Jedi, but well, perhaps maybe Misha didn't exactly fit his idea of a Jedi either. Young, shapely and attractive... that wasn't exactly the first thought of a figure that popped into his mind when he thought of a Jedi. In his mind, someone who was at least in their thirties to forties, seasoned, serious, athletic but not overly bulky... THAT more fit his idea.

Whatever though, she seemed nice and friendly enough. As if the Jedi in -his- mind would've been that talkative, playful, or easy on the eyes. He was glad to be assigned with her on this mission, though suddenly, she swore as she gripped her stomach. Gamble couldn't help but quirk an eyebrow as he inquired, "You alright? Som' bad food catching up with you or somethin'?" Maybe she -did- get flight-sickness pretty easily. This had been the second time just this trip that she had done so.

Billy was certainly concerned about her. If this kept up throughout their mission together, it was sure to slow her down and put her at risk. Raising his brow, he further asked, "Should we a'least hav' a doc meet us at the hangar when we land? Give you a once over jus' t'make sure you're medically ready for this task?" He communicated with the landing authorities, punching in the coordinates for the bay they had been assigned.

Looking again over at Misha with some concern on his face, Gamble was -just- about ready to punch in the request for a medic to meet them at the hangar, though he would await her reply just in case. Either way, he hoped that whatever it was, would pass soon. Hopefully...

It was somewhat of a sickness, not a pain. She could feel it dissappate though as they shifted from in space to in atmosphere.
"no, no im fine. Nothings wrong... Well something's wrong, but not with me. It's the force, something's wrong elsewhere."
she didnt like what was going on. She didnt like the idea of being on planet near her parents, or tracking down a lightsaber maniac without another jedi by her side. Sure, a solag was just as, or maybe more useful in combat. But what if the person they were after wielded the force? What if they could tear them to shreds? Maybe she was letting her timidness got ahold of her or something. It didnt matter, it'd be over soon.

"You sure?" Billy pressed just a little bit more, wanting to make sure that she was really okay before they just continued on with their mission. Withdrawing his hand from the data entry portion where he'd just about made a request for medical attention, Gamble turned his full attention back to piloting the spacecraft. They were in the atmosphere now and closing in on the landing site... a small pad that would require some exceptional skill from Billy, for which he was most certainly up to the challenge, heh.

Nailing it easily, he brought the craft down rather gently within the small space, the hissing of the landing gear and groans of the ship filling the air momentarily. Powering down most of the systems, Billy raised his eyebrows as he smiled over at Misha. "So... we 'bout ready t'go then? What're you wantin' t'do first?" Grabbing up his smoothly-polished nerf-hide holsters, Gamble strapped both of them on and slipped his dual krayt dragon pearl-handled blasters within, giving them both a pat. Krath did he love those things.

Before heading out of the ship, he would most certainly retrieve his hunting rifle with a top-mounted scope. The scope he'd just bought at a black-market on some nondescript space station only a month or so prior. The thing was pretty high-speed, and exceptionally helpful considering that he utilized a slugthrower model as oppposed to the blaster rifles that seemed to be so popular. Billy preferred the blaster for short range... but for long-range? It was hard to beat a good slugthrower. Just plain hard.
