Exploding the ship and faking the death of prisoners inside?

Mind you, you could add as many elements of randomness to this as possible, and there would still be a set motive variable that would be hard to shake off. It reminds me of one of my first law school classes where we essentially got a lecture on the biography of a certain Lucius Cassius Longinus Ravilla. Cui bono? Who stands to benefit? And unless the scenario has more information to work with, it's highly unlikely that any great beneficiary would be anyone other than the IK.

Nite: Let's not impeach anyone's motives here. A trap is perfectly legitimate, though if it is being sold OOCly as somehow advancing build up a faction disingenuously, then that is indeed troubling. It is however incumbent on us as a faction to exercise good judgment ICly and OOCly. Hence why I have made my call. Jenna may do as he wishes, and he will have my fond wishes and advice, should he accept it.

Indeed, I'd rather not think Zach had any kind of ulterior motive, I'd rather we all be ahead of such BS.

Either way, IC it just seems too dangerous right now to stage any kind of rescue. Sometimes you need to sacrifice a few for the good of the many.

Pass. For a whole bunch of OOC and IC reasons. OOCly we're still getting organized and some of our members are relatively green. ICly, we don't have the resources, the rationale just isn't there, the risk is too high, our cover could be blown, and so forth.

I'm also not sure what MSN conversations are being referred to as this is the first I'm hearing about it, but novelty is always nice, I suppose.

Your involvement is up to you. Doesn't matter either way to me if the IK take this opportunity, but I'm letting everyone know that the Chiss are transporting the IK captives. I've suggested this a window of opportunity for you guys, since a rescue attempt has been an idea since the beginning, but nothing is mandatory. I spoke with Bad Wolf and Blue on MSM about it and asked for the information to be relayed to you. As I stated, nothing was official except the prison transfer, not the rescue attempt itself.

any chance the captured IK could free themselves?

Yes, actually. The alarms on the prison barges would go off immediately upon the rescue team's arrival, if they do come, so it'd be a perfect opportunity to revolt against the guards. With the power of the Force, it wouldn't be too difficult, and taking control of those barges would probably make for an easier getaway.

Well, I'll admit, I have m own agenda for the CA, but above all else, I love a good story. Since before the attack on Seoul V was even finalized, there was discussion of a rescue attempt down the line, and I was the only one on the other side to support it at first. Like I've said earlier though, this is just the opportunity I've allowed to the faction, after discussing the idea with Jenna and Blue. Whether you guys want to take it, or remain in the isolated state the IK remnants have taken so far, is up Pros, or those who would act on the opportunity on the side. This would include the involvement of mercenaries, pirates, independant operatives, etc. At this point, it'd make the most sense to have more resources at your disposal for the strike of getting your people back, otherwise the IK are going to stay in the low numbers. The one thing I can promise is that after this prisoner transfer is complete, they most likely won't be moved again, unless action is taken on your part that forces me to.

This is a perfect quote to end my post with.

The Chiss haven't been trying to destroy the Imperial Knights. The first attacks were under Radzkie, but since I've continued his campaign ICly since the bombing of the Pallopides Estates and his target, I've offered a peaceful resolution to every conflict. Surrender is always preferable to open war. Chiss aren't savages, and we abide by the general laws of War Crimes. that's why the IK are Prisoners of War, rather than interrogated 'guests.' Some are still guests, but not the sinister meaning.

Also, you guys can check up on this thread if you'd like. It's a meeting between Amor, the acting leader of the prisoners, Jax Vos's character, and the Grand Imperator, discussing possibly setting up a meeting with the remaining IK. So far, every captive has been treated mroe than fairly, but I understand why a lot of you see me as the enemy, lol.

Too bad the opportunity is being passed on. I really think a prison break/rescue thread would be a lot of fun. Oh well. I imagine a time will come when there will be one, but the Knights need to get their feet under them first.

Nor was I saying that it was. It does however give people the wrong impression and put an unfair onus on us when you post this sort of thread without any sort of notification beforehand.

Assuming the Chiss have taken no contingencies, have no reinforcements, and that prison barges are equipped with hyperdrives that can't be outrun.

The OOC considerations behind this on your side are frankly irrelevant as to the merits of the action itself.

Actually, it makes no sense for a variety of reasons:

1. The risk involved.
2. Letting the Sith know the IK are still out there.
3. Being reactive rather than proactive. Any cursory reading of strategy would inform one that it is never a good idea to fight on your adversary's terms.
4. IK are always going to be small, though number lost in attacks can slowly be replaced and numbers aren't really essential to the way IK operate anyhow.
5. As #3 suggests, we could always precipitate a prisoner transfer under our own terms and with our own surprises planned, rather than walking into what is likely a trap.

This is a perfect quote to end my post with.
Again, OOC considerations have little to do with it. ICly, the Knights have no way of knowing, or any reason for necessarily caring.

The Chiss haven't been trying to destroy the Imperial Knights.

ICly irrelevant. The Knights wage total war against any collaborators with the Sith. IC civility will win no reprieve or trust. Basic tenets of warfare. ICly assume deception (civility could be a Sith trick.) Am I ruling anything out in the future? No. These IC factors could be relevant if and when there is a fracture between Chiss and Sith, but for now it is a red herring. The Chiss have been aiding the Sith, which is functionally the same as trying to destroy the Imperial Knights. There is no meaningful distinction.

The first attacks were under Radzkie, but since I've continued his campaign ICly since the bombing of the Pallopides Estates and his target, I've offered a peaceful resolution to every conflict.

Again irrelevant. Let me note that I do not, as a matter of policy and temperament, question anyone's OOC motives. But by the same token, I don't believe in giving someone's argument special consideration because they've played a certain thing in a certain way. We should all be nice to each other, and I like most everyone here, but IC stuff takes a certain primacy.

Surrender is always preferable to open war. Chiss aren't savages, and we abide by the general laws of War Crimes. that's why the IK are Prisoners of War, rather than interrogated 'guests.' Some are still guests, but not the sinister meaning.

Irrelevant and misreads IK ethos.

I don't see you as the enemy, nor would I expect anyone to take such a POV in the IK. I encourage healthy competition, as I'm sure do all of the FLs. However, ICly, there's no reason to go through with this, let alone trust such a scenario.

OOCly? It makes for a thematically far superior story to actually make it a struggle to liberate the imprisoned IK. Even assuming that we were successful beyond all of our wildest dreams, what would that really mean? That we had liberated IK with little cost at all, that the losses in the war were meaningless, etc. It'd be like hitting a reset button on a television show, and would just be lazy storytelling, in my opinion.

Anyhow, I will reiterate what I have said. I speak in this capacity as FL in the sense that my power, such as it is, is derived from how persuasive and sound my arguments are. I have no intention of stopping Bad should he try to do this, but I cannot in good conscience recommend it as an action.
