This was it. Arthur had been busy with all kinds of plans, tactics, tough decisions, and preparations. But now he believed he was ready. He wanted to prove to everyone, including himself, that he was not some illegitimate child from a washed out noble family. He was going to regain his status of nobility in his own way. This was the start.

He had reached out to a lawyer he heard quite a bit about. The man seemed to be on board with the idea, and with his help Arthur knew he had a good chance of getting his plans off the ground. They just needed the funding to start it. So the natural decision was to go to the Banking Clan. He managed to organise a private meeting with one of their heads to try and get the loan they needed. Their meeting was at 12pm sharp...Arthur made sure they wouldn't be a minute late. "I must admit that I am fairly nervous." he admitted with a chuckle in his ship's recreation area. "I know quite a bit of the Banking Clan's history. If we can get them on our side, we'll have a very good chance of getting this business off on a proper footing." he went on to explain as he sipped at a cup of tea.

The ship touched down on one of the many landing pads and the ramp lowered for them to disembark. "We still have a few minutes before it starts. Any other preparations that we need to quickly get sorted out?" he asked his partner as he descended down the ramp.

IT WAS A BIZARRE PLACE FOR A BANK. Chester had always thought it, and despite the fact that the bank had been here for longer than some civilisations, he continued to think it as he walked down the ramp next to Arthur, his erstwhile partner in today's undertakings. ”You’re not wrong, they make for powerful allies indeed, the bankers,” he paused, checking his watch ”...but make no mistake, allies can become enemies if you aren’t careful.”

Walking down the ramp wit Arthur he noted ”History is full of people who have crossed the clan, and very few have managed to come out on top.” he noted, hardly setting Arthurs mind at ease. Realising this, his expression and tone softened ”But this is just an exploratory meeting no? So I doubt, and don’t take this the wrong way, the bank will see this as anything more than a simply transaction.”

”Oh,” they walked in through the entrance door ”Don’t like...bow. I’ve seen people do that before, it’s...it’s odd.”

Chester's comment sat odd with Arthur. Almost like a threat, as well as a good piece of advice for dealing with people like this. He smirked as he glanced at him. "A good bit of advice for all parties present." he quipped as he walked along the landing pads. He made sure to keep his true nature secret when discussing his plans with Chester. He didn't want anyone to know what he really was. But given his partner's clients, that piece of information probably wouldn't bother him at all. Regardless, he didn't need to know for this little venture just yet.

Chester continued with his thoughts, not helping Arthur's nervousness one bit. "For a lawyer you certainly have an interesting way with people." he teased with a chuckle as he looked at the man. "True, though. This is very low risk, with potential to become quite a good deal in the future if we play our cards right. I can't see why opening a loan would be an issue. But then again, this is the Banking Clan we're talking about. They can be strange at times." he commented as he looked ahead of them again.

As they walked through the door, Chester gave a heads up that was odd to say the least. "Wait. Do people actually do that?" he asked with a laugh. "They're bankers, not priests. Why would people bow?" he asked rhetorically as they walked towards the reception area of the fortress. Behind the desk sat a tall and slender Muun, typing away on a terminal. "I would talk to him...but I can't, for the life of me, pronounce the name of the man we're supposed to meet." he admitted with a guilty smile.

High Comptroller Wingumaralack XVIII, or to provide his full title, Auditor-General & Supreme Account Filing and Cross-Boundary Renumerative Credit Actuator, High Comptroller of the Inter-Galactic Banking Clan (Subdivsion: Muunilist Consumer Credit Operations) Wingumaralack Andrillian Hyperzonoid XVIII, was absolutely engrossed in his crossword. The Gabdorin had been stuck on one particularly tricky clue for near on three hours.

Time well spent.

Indeed, Wingumaralack was so engrossed in his crossword that he almost didn't notice the young and somewhat 'large' Rodian press, for the doorframe was narrow indeed, itself into his office. Cowering before the vast high-backed chair, on the vast broad platform, upon which Wingumaralack sat, the Rodian spoke. "Auditor-General & Supreme Account Filing...." he cut him off as he looked up from his crossword, an irate look on his face that sat their like a hatchet wound.

"Oh, get on with it!"

The Rodian, got on with it.

"High Comptroller, your...the....well, the humans are here."

Wingumaralack made a grumbling sound, more at home with a broiling sewage pipe sound effects studio than a living being, and he eased his collosal girth in his equally as collosal chair, rolling his ruemy eyes and placing his crossword book on the table with open disgust. "Urgh. Show them in. Make sure they have the correct," Wingumaralack breathed in, sounding like a drainpipe "....paperwork."

The Rodian scuttled off as Wingumaralack desktop communicator, which in the good old days would have been called a 'phone' rang. He answered "Wingumaralack. Speak."

A tinny muffled voice came over the communicator.

"Late again are they? That's the third payment they've missed this cycle."

The tinny voice tinned tinnily.

"Liquidate them, sell their organo-syrup to the HyperCola company."

The communicator went silent, and he slammed down the phone.

Finally the door opened, and in came the Rodian. "Mr. Demici and Mr. Kincade, Supreme Comp....High Comptroller Sir."

Wingumaralack looked over his glasses.

He shuffled his papers.

He contemplated the financial regulations of the seventh transcendancy of Oog.

"Sit."

There where no chairs. Wingumaralack did not care.

"You want rather a lot for someone of your," he pointed a chubby finger at a page in front of him "....financial position. Tell me Mr...." he checked the page before massacring the name he next said "Demarchay, why will our money be safe in your hands?"

A rather 'large' Rodian showed them to the office of the person meant to meet with them. Arthur had to admit that he was quite horrified by the being before him. He could tell that this wasn't going to be pleasant nor easy.

They were ordered to sit, but Arthur rather chose to stand where he was. He straightened out his jacket and ran a hand through his heir. Normally he would have introduced himself and greeted the person pleasantly, but he didn't have the time, nor desire to do any such thing with this creature. "I can assure you that answer is pretty simple." he spoke up with a polite smile and a gentle wave of his hand to intertwine his fingers by his stomach. "My surname should give you all the reason. House Demici has, until recently, been one of the strongest names on Serenno. It's always paid its debts, even when struggling." he started, giving a shrug and, by proxy, another inconspicuous wave of his hand.

"But I know such things mean precious little to you, High Comptroller. So I'll be frank." he took a step closer, his posture relaxed and open. "I am placing my livelihood, all my chances, and my future in your hands. I can assure you that I have no desire to be ruined for something as simple as not paying back borrowed credits." he explained as he glanced between him and his partner. "I'm sure someone of your intellect and experience could agree with me that smart people like us tend to gamble a lot more carefully with our lives than others." he tried to play with the man's ego. He still needed to get a good handle on the creature, but for now he'd try the usual approach.

All the while he was focusing the force. He knew a simple brute-force attack on the creature's mind wouldn't work, so he tried to break him down more subtly with every gesture of his hands...

Marrow...Wingumaralack considered as he pondered three down, 'large mealy vegetable, also in bone'.

"Marrow." his thoughts became words as Arthur Demici greeted him. "My surname should give you all the reason." the little man continued, before twiddling its hands around as Wingumaralack conteplated just why marrow was on his crossword. He gently put down a large blocky pencil, and placed his thick crossword book down with a thud, before peering down at the man as he came to the end of his introduction.

"Never 'erd of you."

The rodian flinched.

Wingumaralack flinched.

He didn't even know why, instead he picked up his crossword book, and continued. For nearly a full two minutes silence fell across the room, as Wingumaralack contemplated the next move in the cosmic game of crossword puzzles. This 'Arthur' was interesting, especially his statement 'I am placing my livelihood, all my chances, and my future in your hands.'

Now that really got his blood pumping.

Nothing like a good livelihood submission to get ones blood up in the morning.

"Article Five I think," he waved a fat hand at the Rodian, who scuttled over to his desk and whispered "High Comptroller, article five is normally for corporate entities!"

"Bah! That's why they don't let you do the Comptrolling!" he waved the Rodian away, and refocused his attention to Arthur "You're dedication does you credit, and in return I shall extend the same! For your loan, the terms are simple - interest at 3% per annum, if you default, liquidation of your organic matter," he waved a hand at Arthurs fleshy form "..and the bank repossesses your house 'Demici' and all its assets."

Quite fair, he thought. Quite fair.
