Hey guys, I have a few ideas for a PC that I've been considering, and an Indie faction. I need help writing it though, because I really want both my character, and the faction to be up there with some of the work I've seen done on this site. I don't have any timeframe I want to create the faction in, but I already have a few small ideas that kinda pooled together in my mind.

1. I had originally wanted to create a 'gang' of force users who were ex-acolytes and jedi trainees, ex-jedi or ex-sith, or just force sensitives who didnt find a place to belong. Or didn't know what to do when they found out, but didnt want to join the Jedi, or Sith. (Sorry I know my sentence structure is pretty bad, but I usually end up making really long run on sentences if I dont disobey some grammar rules.)

2. I have pics I want to use for my PC, but I'm kinda worried about showing them because someone might want to use them. I'd still use 'em any ways.. Well I guess its because I dont want to put too many preset notions in anyones mind if they'd want to help me. If you 'get' visuals more then here:

I'm sure you've probably seen this guy somewhere before by now, his name is Rick Genest.

He's otherwise known as 'Zombie Boy.'

3. My original concept was that he would be a Jedi-trainee, something happens, he's taken by Sith hoping to throw him into training etc to increase their numbers, assuming he'll either do or die. Well, when push comes to shove he has too much to lose by going to the dark side, so they 'take it away,' and he becomes a part of the dark side for a while, his inner conflict would help him further his abilities in the dark side, because he's also struggling with what remains of his beliefs in the light side. At some point I want him to realize that neither side can ever achieve the goals they want to.

4. I'd like for the theme this character would explore to be moral ambiguity, mainly. Some secondary themes would be the importance of the individual (self) over others, the importance of putting others first, knowledge is power (manipulation,) wisdom through experience, and the value of validation (which could result from the last two.)

5. I was considering giving him some reasons for the way he looks, and I'd love to hear your ideas. I have some of my own but Id like to wait to hear if anyone else had some.

6. I wanted this gang to be really republican, where everyone gets a say, and its valued nearly equally, taking things like experience, and good arguments into consideration. I would like them to operate like a family, even if they argue, disagree and get upset their loyalty is far beyond what any issue could corrupt.

7. I considered having them be based in space, boarding and robbing ships for a living, but also being vigilantes with true good intentions. not wanting to get into a debate about what makes them good and evil, but I would however like to have them do both things in equal amounts. good things to keep them feeling ok with themselves, bad things to learn from the experience what makes them feel its bad etc. I don't want them to be above murder, but I would like anyone who joins to RP it seriously and not just be like 'ive been a cold blooded killer since i was 1 second old and i killed my whole family from the hospital room.' or worse yet 'i killed my whole family by reachign out through the force and murdering everyone in a blind fit of rage because i stubbed my toe i became a monster and then i gave birth to myself as i watched my mother die i felt nothing and then i got a lightsaber and became a darth vader in 2 weeks.'

I'm also doing this to expose people to my idea, if people say 'this sounds cool' or better yet 'i would join this' ill consider doing the writeup sooner rather than later, i will give special consideration to the ideas of people who want to join, although if someone suggest something really good that may conflict we should probably go with that.

Also, NAMES, cool names for ex-jedi-sith-and-force-sensitive-in-general gang. I was thinking also that if people we encounter RPly who dont know theyre force sensitive we could scoop em up and explain things to them, give em a home etc, i think itd be a cool dynamic to have that 'village raising a child' type thing, or a little brother/sister aspect if they like one person or one person is considered a guardian by general consensus.

I thought the name the lost and found was cool, but corny, but it gets across my general idea. theyre lost, and theyre found.. in the PCs pov I had orignally imagined he would say that he was lost to both the jedi and sith, yet he found himself in his ______. (contemplation or something? reflection? idk)

Please, dont be shy, im serious about this, and also if you have any ideas how to lessen the angsty gritty feel of this while maintaining thematic integrity please please help me

just wanted to add as a side note, above all i want to do this to have fun, because if something's too serious i cant take it seriously, who could? theres plenty of room for messing around and w/e

I can assist you. If you have Skype add me there (just shoot a message so I know who you are) and we can chat when I get home.

Skype name is Darkestsinn, it'll be the picture of Miranda Priestly. White lady holding her glasses.

I have to admit, this idea sounds interesting enough for me to want to "bite the bullet" [as it were] and make a Force user of some kind. I've wanted to avoid playing Force users this time around, but this idea has some pretty neat potential that seems too good to pass on.

I'm not really up on the "dolling out ideas/help" front tonight as I have a pretty awful headache [otherwise I'd have more to say]. But I just wanted to show my interest in some manner.

Ah, excellent! Thanks so much, like I said the time frame hasn't been defined. As of right now I'd consider it indefinite.. permanently on hold until it gets enough steam for things to start moving. I am doing a bit of thinking myself, and I'm about to have a convo with Viole. :)

Bumping once again!

I really like the idea of a small gang of force sensitives who never found a place to belong besides with each other. The themes you mentioned would be great to explore with everyone in the group (especially moral ambiguity) as I'm sure some would be against carrying out with certain things while others wouldn't. I think it'd be great if most of the group or at least a large percentage weren't exceptionally trained properly in the usage of the Force neither; playing into the failed/ex Jedi/Sith concept. But, if the character the majority looks up to is at least somewhat well trained in using the Force then it'd make even more sense as to why he's/she's the leader/Guardian.

I wouldn't mind the group being based in Space to further explore their criminality and vice versa their vigilante-ness (:orly:?) but I also think they should have some type of run down "base" of sorts on an actual planet as well. Just some of my ideas.

I really like the base idea (: I also think moral
Ambiguity would be interesting to see RPd within a group environment in which everyone is heard and respected even with their respective differences

I really haven't gotten much done in the way of writing the PC and the faction, though its still floating around my head daily. I've only spoken at length to two of the four people I contacted also. My circumstances have changed rapidly in the course of the last week, in a bad way. I hope not to let any of you guys down, I'd really enjoy being able to do this. If I have you on Skype please message me a hey or something if you're willing to hash out ideas and hear what I've got thus far. I'm also keen on the idea of most of the users not being trained very well in the force. It would give them room to improve, and find their own way of looking at how to use it, and their own philosophy behind it. There can be people with force powers, but nothing beyond what an Acolyte or Jedi trainee would have. Not by any stretch. Maybe there can be one member who knows the most, and can give guidance. Otherwise I'd look to ourselves to learn from, or I'd look to the Jedi or Sith to teach us on occasion if our group becomes well-known enough for them to see us as good potential allies, or to manipulate us etc.
