Bonadan
This is not going to be the usual Galactic Senate session, where people will be talking about trade deals, taxes .etc. This an emergency session. Courscant had been the usual to go to place in the Galactic Senate for some time, but however because of Darth Raze's invasion of abominations, and that the abominations had sacked the senate building, killing everyone inside, the Senate will have to convene elsewhere.

The Corporate Sector Authority had offered to host this emergency session, for a sizable sum of credits in exchange for hosting it. To the Corporate Sector's credit, they have been relatively unaffected by the chaos and instability elsewhere, and have been neutral for well over a century. The Corporate Sector was a safe place, well guarded with it's fleets and it's security forces.

On Bonadan, the heartland of the Corporate Sector's trade and shipping, an impressive planet in it's own right, lies a large conference room fit enough to hold this emergency Galactic Senate session.

Even now politicians are gathering, the Speaker is not present yet however. As this is an emergency session, there is no agenda formed yet. But senators can submit on a datapad or via a terminal at their seat.

Tensions are not doubt to be running high, time is of the essence. Suffice it to say, between Raze and his 'abominations, the chaos on the Hydian Way, and the Empire attacking Jedi worlds - this will be a very interesting session.

OOC:

Agenda

Speaker will be posted 24-48 hours after the timestamp of this post.

So much chaos in the galaxy. Hugo was irritated. The colonial governor would rather focus on economic matters on his thriving colony world, but recent events - started by Darth Raze - had force Hugo to focus his attention elsewhere outside Opportunity. It was something he could not ignore. And one event led to another and the whole galaxy is plagued with instability.

Although it wasn't his desert world, Hugo nonetheless felt at home on the corporate world Bonadan, although he could have done without having to go on the far other side of the galaxy.

Wearing a crisp suit, wearing his trademark spectacles, and accompanied by his litigator droid, he would have already taken his seat. And after having consulted with other ISC leaders, summited his agenda item, and it looks like his will be going first.

It wasn't before too long that other items would be summited. One on Darth Raze, and one for Hutt Space? He would raise an eyebrow in interest at that one.

But yes, this should be quite an eventful assembly.

Carrick hadn't set foot in a building to discuss matters of the Galactic senate for quite some time - as a vocal opponent to the whole thing, he had thought it better to merely stop attending all but the most vital of sessions. Sometimes he thought he ought to attend more often.

Some of his fellow members of the ISC told him that it was important and that some of the sessions he had missed had been key moments in history. In the end, he had decided to come on down and see if he could be part of one of those rare sessions that defined history.

The matter of the Empire's membership had been up for debate since his last visit to the Galactic Senate and the discussion surrounding the Hutt's entering was even less appealing to him - salt the slugs and be done with it had been his stance for years at this point.

However, the agenda item to finalise a unified front against the monster that was Raze? That was worth a look, at least in so much as checking how other states intended to fight what was, essentially, a man-sized (admittedly a rather large man) natural disaster.

It didn't take a Force Sensitive to realise the threat Raze presented but as one? Thinking of the man was like thinking of a black hole made of darkness and fire - it physically ached to think and meditate on his actions and his trail of destruction. Honestly, Raze reminded him of his history lessons as a Jedi, learning about wounds in the Force turned into 'living' beings.

Used to be he thought that was just a story to scare the younger members into behaving but now...?

He set his datapad aside with a small sigh and settled himself in his seat for a long session. Hopefully this would be one of those sessions that made history - he'd love to see what he'd been missing.

While she walked through the halls of this makeshift Senate building, Maryenne contemplated everything that had happened since the last time she had participated in one of those meetings. The Republic had collapsed, the Empire ousted the Sith and continued a war against the Jedi, Darth Raze unleashed his abominations over Coruscant and the Hydian Way was in turmoil.

All these crises showed that unity was necessary. The Jedi were necessary. If nothing was done, the entire Galaxy would be consumed by a wave of Darkness. She really hoped that the decisions taken today would stop it, and good changes would begin. After all, there was still space for the Light to shine.

Wearing a plain dress, still showing her grief for the death of her grandmother, Maryenee sat at her place. Florian, the protocol droid that she inherited from Annelyn, was at her right side. At her left was Joscelyn, her younger brother and aide. He was usually an inconsequential individual, liking to spend most of his time at cantinas. However, even he recognised the tense atmosphere that surrounded this meeting.

She started to read the items that were submitted. Everything that Maryenne read so far interested her. However, the expulsion of the Empire from the Galactic Senate and the actions against Darth Raze catched most of her attention. This meeting was really going to be important for the future of the Galaxy.

Dimon was pleased to see the Senate reconvene again, especially after the debacle of the last session.

Waddling into his posting, he leaned heavily on his cane, and snapped his fingers at Froogle. "My datapad!" he insisted, snatching it off his hapless aide and sitting down with an audible grunt. The agenda was an absolute mess of nonsense, as usual in these sessions. That being said, Dimon just hoped they'd actually be able to get to all the items and vote on them, without a force user trying anything daft, Killik trying to force-feed them weird goo, or the Queen of Hapes having a senior moment again.

He was not going to vote to expel the Empire from the Senate.

It was an impulsive and reckless act and a foolish proposition by a Consoritum Senator. Dimon failed to see why expelling someone from a body meant to serve as a meeting place of galactic planets and powers was in any way helpful. It was exceptionally hard to have a galactic senate if you kept turning people you disagreed with away at the door.

Declaring Darth Raze a Galactic Criminal and having a general chat about what that meant seemed like a futile waste of time, and Dimon would probably point of order it to get it shunted off the agenda.

Admission of the Hutt Cartel, being his own motion, was quite obviously the best motion on there, and his brilliance at proposing it once again astounded him.

Finally, an anti-piracy task force seemed like the sort of thing that would cause more arguments that it would resolve. Who would fund it, command it, and where would it work? Dimon didn't know.

He sighed.

It was going to be a long day.

Beep, Beep, Beep.

He checked his comm.

Interesting...

Even if his face showed calmness, Xylan was in an internal turmoil. He couldn’t believe that his first session in the Galactic Senate could be his last. Since he had received the items that were being discussed in this meeting, the Tionese had a tantrum. The Senator had thrown a tantrum that destroyed his entire room, while Zanah only watched.

He couldn’t believe that some planets were trying to take the Empire out of the Senate only because it was fighting against the Jedi. Who even cared about this decrepit Order of mad monks? Only simpletons and idiots would want this stupidity to continue to exist. They were like any other group of Force sensitives, a bunch of parasites that sucked resources that could be more useful in other things, such as making him richer, under the excuse of being able to protect other citizens.

His disgust also extended to the Imperial Knights, who he saw as another plague that ate a good portion of Imperial revenue. Xylan always thought that the Emperor should dismantle them and invest in more soldiers.

As always, Xylan was dressed in a rich outfit. He was in his seat, fidgeting with his vests in an attempt to show nervousness at his first time in the Galactic Senate. However, he really wanted to strangle someone. Preferably the idiot that proposed this absurdity. Next to him, Zanah only watched and thought that perhaps this meeting was going to be amusing.

She really needed some fun, after dealing with Xylan acting as a pouting baby during the entire day.

Nor'baal had waited years for this moment.

Finally, the stars had aligned, and the Senate had convened in Corporate Sector space, the perfect location for him to have a 'friendly' Senator put forward the motion for Hutt Space admission to the galactic body. Within Corporate Space, Nor'baal and the Clans had a reasonable amount of hidden assets and wealth, the Sectors accommodating laws for those with credits and means, making it an attractive place to do business.

It also made it a great place for him to rock up in person - without fear of arrest by the overzealous police that so often frequented the so-called 'civilised planets' of the Core.

Here, cash was King, and that practically made Nor'baal an Emperor.

He'd been advised to keep his entrance subtle, no fanfares, executions and bloodsports to whip up the observers.

Apparently, that sort of thing was not in keeping with 'polite political debate'.

Nor'baal found such priggish frippery to be nothing less than a show that the political class was weak and out of touch. Yet, he listened to his advisors and merely entered his allotted 'pod', waiting for his turn to speak.

Glowering around at the Senators in their finery, Nor'baal checked with his own advisors, the fluttering Majordomo who flapped away between his two guards, both of whom had cruelly been divested of their weapons by the overzealous 'Senate Guard'. Nor'baal cursed the indignity and checked to ensure the gifts he had sent each and every Senator had been scanned for bombs and other such things.

They had.

Each Senator would receive a small chest of crystals as a 'welcome gift' from the Hutts - as was tradition.

Aharon was already seated in his senate pod, his frame leaning forward with his elbows on the pannel in front of him. His leg was softly tapping against the ground. He was nervous. It had been some time since his face was seen by the public and no doubt it was because he was trying to hold his planet together. Their long time ally had been taken over by monsters, their Republic had died, and they were left directionless. Most of the former Republic had left Champala out to dry, cutting off almost any contact as they focused to reorganize themselves. Aharon had spent this entire time trying to keep his planet from spinning out of control. He had lost any outside contact and almost any free time he had just to focus on righting that sinking ship. That had worked for the most part, but with it brought stagnation. Aharon had ambitions and dreams to make his planet not just tread water, but to thrive. And that was why he came to this senate meeting. To make the first step to having them come true.

His make up was pristine today, covering both the dark bags under his eyes formed from the almost entire lack of sleep he has had in months and the massive facial scar he has had for his entire life. He had regained his former physique as the work outs one of the few activities that made him feel like a living being and not just a political droid. He made sure his skin routine today was impeccable and practically glowed. He had worn a simple purple suit, crisp white undershirt, black slacks, and a simple black tie. On his right wrist he had a simple but elegant silver chrono-watch, and on his left hand he had a simple silver band on pointer finger along with a squared ring with a purple jewel on the middle. He hoped that this outfit would atleast get some people talking about him, even if it would just be about how well he was dressed. Any good words would help spread his image and make him (hopefully) more popular.

The gift of the Hutt would find its way back to Nor'baal's seat with a message sent through his pod's computer: 'Thank you, oh mighty one, but your presence alone is such a hallowed gift. - Aharon Staergin.' In all reality the jewels gifted were indeed very nice, but that was not something that he really wanted. A Hutt gift always came back; wether be it as a favor or by a political rival using it against you. He made sure the message was typed out in Huttese by the CZ-series communication droid to his left and embellished from what Aharon actually said to play to the Hutts huge ego.

Like Carrick, Emryc often didn’t see the point of these sessions. He wasn’t briefed on what Hugo Parasini intended to present on the agenda item concerning the Empire’s membership of the Senate. With the ISC not being a complete totalitarian regime, it often meant other ISC senators put in motions he neither agreed with with nor cared about. This was one that fell under that category. With Raze separated from and his detachment from the Empire entirely, his intel relied solely on Spynet instead of personal knowledge. As far as he could tell, he didn’t care whether the Empire stayed or left the Senate.

What was curious, however, was the presence of Nor’baal (@Nor'baal ) the Hutt. Emryc sat in a pod across the hall from him, his piercing silver gaze studying Nor’baal quietly. The two had a working relationship since Emryc was a teen. Their respective efforts, often leaning on one another, had led them to become kings of their domain. Though they had a close partnership on many counts, Emryc wasn’t naive enough to fully trust the Hutt. Nor’baal didn’t get as far as he did without backstabbing and undercutting, no different than Emryc himself. Game recognized game, and he wondered if it was prudent to have another threat in the senate chambers.

Raze as an agenda item was pointless - everyone knew the man was a maniac. Emryc felt a sense of relief no longer having to hide and manage his dual identity. The freak was released into the wild and left to his own devices. As long as he didn’t touch ISC worlds, Emryc couldn’t care less.

The half Sephi checked his chrono and patiently waited for the session to begin.

Lon had replaced his leg long ago after losing it to the Kiliks, but he still used it as an excuse to float around in a hover chair these days. Was he capable of walking around on it? Absolutely, but if anyone ever had a problem with his hover chair, they never said it. It was one of the few benefits to his loss.

And so, Lon Tendree of Cato Neimoidia cruised on into the senate proceedings with a Diet Coke in his arm rest. The session had been pushed up, but only time would tell where this actually got. As he came to a stop in his designated pod, he pulled up the agenda list on his datapad.

He wondered if they would actually make any meaningful change to the Raze issue. The Sith Lord hadn't bothered the ISC at present, and his rampage through the Core only made the ISC more appealing. And yet, Lon knew that his world was far closer than most to the planets that had been taken. Hapans, Sith, and now the Jedi-Empire war seemed to be back on again. The galaxy was unstable, and he felt more exposed in the Core that he would have liked to admit. The collapse of the Republic had left his world in the cold.

Everything had changed and nothing had changed, it seemed. The galaxy moved from one war to the next, and it could be rebranded or renamed, but it was always the same. It was all a big circle.

The intricacies and fine print of a senators' life was beyond what most would consider 'enjoyable', though there never ceased to be an endless stream of those who readily signed themselves up for the role regardless. For some it was simple, power, greed or influence at your beck and call. Some others chose the life to follow in anothers footsteps, family or otherwise.

Then there were the ideologues. Those that were there for the right reasons as they saw it, regardless of the personal cost or in some cases the cost to others. Serving for the greater good, they hoped, would bring a means to an end in a palatable way rather than engaging in a method unbecoming.

It was certainly a fun little game attempting to sort each character into a particular box, with some far more easily identified than others. Later, the Consul might speak, but for now she simply watched and waited, sorting the crowd in her merry little game.

As Steela sauntered through the corridors of the improvised senate building alongside her senatorial aide, a faint sense of nervousness took hold in her chest. While politics had always been her passion, navigating the Galactic Senate would prove to be a completely different challenge compared to the comparatively trivial politics of Chandrila. The gravity of the present session only added to her apprehension, not to mention the items on the agenda. While she had managed to skim through them during her journey from the spaceport to the senate, a couple of issues particularly caught her attention: the expulsion of the empire and the potential readmission of the Jedi Order, a prospect she herself sponsored.

Although Hutt Space wasn't of great concern to her, she strongly believed in the importance of expanding representation across the entire galaxy, even if it meant the Hutts. A sentiment she was sure not many of her peers in the Core would share. When it came to the matter of Darth Raze and his destructive acts throughout the Core, she felt that it was an obvious decision to take action due to the immense threat he posed to the galaxy, and particularly to Chandrila by proximity.

She had her own views about the Empire, not necessarily fond ones at that but she thought that removing them from an organization meant to address galactic problems and conflicts was excessive and unlikely to lead to a resolution.

Upon entering the Senate chambers, she took to her allocated pod and was greeted with a 'generous gift' from the Hutts. She simply rolled her eyes at the gesture, sceptical of their intentions believing it to be a ploy to gain support from her and the other senators. Nevertheless, she would draft and send a message of appreciation, in Huttese for extra courtesy.

Steela glanced around the chamber as she settled into her seat, her gaze scanning her colleagues, she was relieved to have taken her aide's advice to wear an elegant outfit instead of her usual simple dress. She wasn't one for grand entrances and first impressions but she understood the need for appearances especially now that she represented Chandrila in front of the galaxy.

It'd been a while since Governor Adalia had been to one of these larger gatherings of galactic politicians. Frankly, she'd been busy. While the galaxy burned from afar, the Pacanth Reach had been deep in its own troubles and tribulations. A planet within their borders had been burned and it took years to sort out exactly what to do about it. Mixed cultures- now with even more of her own Firrerreon influence since the survivors had escaped the bombardment- had been further divided by clan and way of life.

Dressed in a sharp suit with sharper claws simply glossed in red and accompanied by a pair of anonymous razor-clawed but unarmed guards as far as Senate security would allow them, Ceridwen reached her pod area and sat straight-backed before the desk and controls. One of her personal security mentioned a chest of crystals gifted on behalf of the Hutts. Her expression didn't waiver.

She'd judge that senate issue when on its presented merits and the behavior of the Supreme Mogul.

There were other concerns. One at a time, to be handled in that delicate balance that was the game of galactic politics. Raze had returned and set loose strange beasts on different worlds. The 'New' Empire was accused of many crimes and risked being ejected from the Senate entirely.

Bright gold eyes, sharp and hawk-like, moved from being to being around the senate chamber in their initial attempt to read the attitudes of other representatives. Governor Adalia was newer to most of this crowd, only recently being admitted into the Consortium. She would be paying very close attention.

It was time, this session gathered a large turn out. There is lots that's definitely needed to be addressed. The Speaker would emerge, her walking onto a platform overlooking all the senate pod. Her name was Roma Anti, a near-human lady who was a rising force in Corporate Sector politics slowly but steadily. After a pause, and a bored expression on her face, she would then address the convening senate. "Thank you all for joining us today" she said with a flat voice. The Speaker would then push some buttons into her terminal at the side.

"It's time now for the first matter of business: Expulsion of the Empire from the Galactic Senate." she would then look towards it's author "Governor Parasini. You have the floor."

Hugo would raise from his seat and his senate pod would hover closer to the center of the chamber. All eyes are on him. The colonial is determined to see the Empire expelled from these halls. "Esteemed colleagues." he would say.

Now the first part "It has come to my attention that the Empire is not as it seems, not as it makes itself out to be. I am seeking the expulsion of the Empire on the basis that it is controlled by the Sith. It has been for a long time, and it only became readily apparent in recent events."

"I want to preface by saying this conclusion was not reached by taking the holonet address from Darth Tempest at face-value. But it was reached by analyzing the structure of the Empire among other factors and it's behavior."

"First of all, the
Imperial Knights are almost all former Sith. Although they might be more 'orderly', have new armor, new names and titles. They are still Dark Side force users, same as the Sith. They are still religious, only their religion being loyalty to the government and the Emperor. Aside from superficial changes and absolute loyalty to the Empire, there is little difference between a Sith and an Imperial Knight. And ultimately any former Sith are connected to Darth Raze, a Dark Lord of the Sith. Also in the Empire, we can still see that force-users are in control of sweeping and integral parts of it, as it was in the Sith Empire. Who is the leader of the armed forces of the Empire again, for example? Grand Marshall Altair Din. Force-user, former Sith."

The Governor would go onto the next point, having painted a picture of that the Sith Empire, and current Empire are pretty much the same structure wise.

"Now lets go through the Empire's behavior. I'm not going to debate the morality of the Empire's actions as of recently, but their actions are the same as the Sith's. The Empire continued the Sith Empire's rapid expansionist policies in the months and years leading up today. They claim to desire peace and prosperity, we were lead to believe that the Empire was reformed, but the 'New Empire' has invaded planets and continue to do so right now. The Empire's new territories have been brought in by the sword. They haven't been engaging in foreign policy, unless we count invasions. "

"There have been no reports of Jedi attacking Imperial worlds, yet the Empire feels the need to continue the petty religious war against the Jedi, that was started by the Sith. With no provocation, no casus beli. No nothing. All timed seemingly in concert to where Darth Raze started unleashing monsters on the galaxy?"
he raised the question to everyone. He has no love for the Jedi, "This can't be a coincidence." he said and shook his head. "Same methodology, taking the same actions against the same enemies. All of it."

"The Emperor himself rarely makes public appearances, to my knowledge he hasn't been engaging other governments. This combined with propaganda coming from the Empire itself, and other sources. I have concluded that the Emperor is merely a Sith puppet. A placeholder so the Sith rule the Empire from the shadows, a non-force sensitive to placate non-force sensitive Imperials, but also so he would be easy to control. The Emperor has no control over his Empire, he has no control over the force-users that run his Empire."

Closing statement now. "The Empire is a fraud, the Empire is firmly wrapped under the Sith's finger. The Empire's shown actions and behavior are antithetical to the core values of the Galactic Senate and are complicit. Not only that, since it's clear that the Empire is run by religious zealots, they do not belong in this organization as same as the Jedi. It is for all these reasons the Empire needs to be expelled from the Galactic Senate."

With that, Hugo would rest for now on that, his pod still in the middle of the chamber, he would look towards where the Imperial delegation are, he would be ready for counter-arguments from them. Hugo doesn't have a smile on his face as he does this. He is stoic, cool and collected. He will combat the inevitable counter-arguments from the Imperial side with a cool head.

Roma Anti kept her hands folded neatly against the center of the podium - flanked on either side by Senatorial aides and assistants. It wasn’t until just before Hugo began speaking that one of the aides leaned over to whisper in the Speakers ear, bringing attention to a matter otherwise unnoticed.

The Speaker clicked on her mic.

“The Representative of the Hutt Cartels,” She began with monotone voice, “Will present any and all gifts to the Senate Sergeant at Arms, to be distributed outside of the chamber.” While Nor’baal could have his gifts delivered to Senate offices or distribute them personally, he would be unable to do so while the assembly was in session. Anxiety was high after recent attacks on Coruscant, and security would take no chances with gifts being distributed to Galactic leaders gathered into a single place.

Her gaze flicked back to the rest of the assembly - allowing Hugo to speak without interruption.

Lon was feeling spicy today, and he listened to the Governor from Opportunity closely before speaking up.

Governor Parasini, I'm sure you aren't suggesting removing a member of this body based on speculation, coincidence, and tabloid reports, Lon began cuttingly. In truth, most of what he was going to say could be summed up by this.

I'm sure you have some proof to back your allegations that the Sith still run the Empire? he went on to continue. It seems to me that the only piece we should be talking about is the very piece you claim not to want to address: the moral, political, and ethical implications... ...not to mention the economic implications, he thought... ...of this new war between the Empire and the Jedi, he said.

Did Lon think the Empire was still under the control of the Sith? It was certainly possible, but doubtful. What he did think was that the Empire itself was bad for business.

Even if we were to assume that your speculations are true, the Empire had seats when it was still controlled by the Sith as well. The simple fact that you do not like a government's leadership does not mean it does not represent a large portion of the galaxy's population nor is it grounds for removal, she said.

Of far greater concern to me is this renewed conflict that has been sparked, and I move that we transition this discussion to actions that can be taken to bring this conflict to a close. Or barring that, the disciplinary action that we as a body must once again take to deal with these continued hostilities, he finally said. Just because he didn't agree with removal didn't mean he thought the Empire should be off the hook. They had caused problems for the galaxy too many times, and it should be the roll of the Galactic Senate to throttle out their aggressive abilities. The ISC had done it for the whole galaxy once, hopefully the rest of the galaxy could get it together to do it for themselves this time.
