"What the varp is that?" Ty exclaimed not for the first time since landing on Dxun. Thrice now, he had been startled by resounding echoes of otherworldly screeches hailing from deep within the lush evergreen. Everything in the jungle seemed to have been specifically designed to kill anything or anyone who did not belong there.

Even something as mundane as breathing seemed to be more difficult on Dxun: the air was heavy with the scent of the afternoon's torrential rain and a myriad of intertwined aromas emanating from the surrounding vegetation, most of which was entirely alien to Ty'kh. As dusk stained the glistening foliage with shadow and murk, Ty'kh knew his struggles were only just beginning and he had had to fight against his better instincts not to abandon his mission.

Owing to his Mandalorian heritage, or so he had been told, Ty'kh had been chosen by the leadership of the Crimson Dawn to travel to Dxun in hopes of recovering the horn of a Zakkeg, a vicious armored apex predator indigenous to the Onderonian moon. Having almost been hunted to extinction by Mandalorians seeking a sturdy substitute material to construct their armor when unexploited sources of beskar had become scarce during the crusades, Zakkeg were now listed as a protected species under the New Republic's Endangered Species Protection Act.

Ty'kh had landed his spacecraft in the hangar of an abandoned Czerka research station he would use as his base of operation. Although it had long since been reconditioned into a haven for smugglers hoping to benefit from the convergence of Onderon and Dxun atmosphere to evade planetary border control and transport smuggled goods from off-world, the complex remained mostly unoccupied. Ty would spend the night within the relative safety of the facility and hoped to make the most of the daylight the next day.

Dxun. Of all the crapshoots in the galaxy, Dxun. Taldorak sighed as he descended the ramp, his visor scanning the dense jungle. "You don't want to stay on the surface. Take off and I'll comm ya for return." As one of the more... active Crymorah, Taldorak had taken upon himself to stunt the progress of the other Syndicates. The Hutts were in decline, the Pykes were at war with the Sith.. Now, it was time to see what the Crimson Dawn were up to. Within moments, the Dha'karta would take off and head for the atmosphere.

The Dawn held a special disdain in his heart. Afterall, they were led by the Sith Lord Darth Maul, a usurper of the Mandalorian ways. Not that he felt Kryze or Death Watch were any better, but.. you could say it was a passion project. Normally a Core focused operative, he had expanded his reach to the mid and outer rims. His personal outfit was beginning to grow and he had hoped to discover what the Dawn wanted and take away their hopes. He had hoped to not have to kill, but he wasn't against it.

Going by foot, he would hike for about an hour before he happened upon the base in question. "Oh great, a Czerka building.. That means all these ugly beasties and likely some defunct to osik droids trying to get to third base. Good thing ya brought your whistle, Tal.." Cursing silently, he would descend the small hill to where the base was, climbing over vegetation and using various natural and man made formations for cover.

The air of Dxun was rich with the scent of fertile soil as well as the dual aspect of decay that gave the jungle a unique weight. Each planet and moon was different with their own kinds of climate and some were certainly more preferable for Pellios than this. The jungle itself was not too much of a bother for the Devaronian scoundrel but what lived within it was what made him arm up for this safari excursion.

Slung along his back was the heavy longarm weapon of older design. The blaster rifle was here to take down anything big and dangerous. His vibrosword would come in handy with cutting through the vegetation as well if need be. A set of jetboots was recently added to his equipment that could help him fly above the treeline if he thought it would be any safer. Instead he would trudge through the lower levels of the humid environment.

The aging smuggler always made sure to trim his beard neatly. The silvery haired smuggler ran a thumb along his jawline as he wondered when was going to be the next time he saw a top notch shave from a barber. That was a goal already being made to be at the top of his to-do list after this venture was complete.

Returning to work with the Five Syndicates after a time away, he was checking out this once-abandoned smuggler spot. It was not Pellios's first time hearing about it but it was the first time visiting. His ship, the Chuckle-Wagon sat in one of the subtle hangars while his crewmember Jann sat with her legs crossed and flipping through a holo manual. She was never easily impressed and he would leave her to the ship. An R7 astromech was working in the cargo hold and re-securing some patching tools as the Devaronian passed. "I'll be back." He said and the ship would be locked behind him. They would maintain and be on standby in this relative oasis while he was gone, hopefully.

Other members of the Five Syndicates used the haven though not all of them were friendly with one another. Pellios had some ties with Black Sun mainly but had worked for the Hutts and the Pykes. The Crymorah Syndicate had to invite you in. The ship captain had never received an invitation over his years in the underworld, whether it be from staying under the radar or not being Crymorah material, he didn't know nor did he mind. As long as his current business was good, it didn't matter.
