Juri was considered something of a “catch” when it came to a group like the Rust Company. Not only was she a skilled combatant, but she was a former Ranger. That came with all the martial prowess and magic capability she needed to handle most things bandits took on. Seemed like she finally had a chance to flex a little.
The cart rocked violently as one of the wheels broke causing the chassis to collapse to one side and drag. The horses were no longer able to pull the cart and now were sufficiently spooked to the point she wasn’t going to get them going again. She heard the shooter bark out at them. Dropping the reins she drew a short spear from her back and jumped to the side of the cart. Raising her hand she cast entangle as soon as she made the shooter. Instantly weeds and vines began to sprout from the ground at his feet as the flora attempted to wrap him.
Using this moment of hopeful distract she charged the man, drawing a handaxe in her off hand, “Don’t worry! We’re coming!” she shouted as her men followed her lead.

Two archers fell quickly to Ta’s fire. They just hadn’t been trained to fight someone with repeating firearms. The common gun found around these parts of Aureus needed to be manually loaded after every shot with the Avalaran military possessing pepperboxes that could fire four shots at most and needing a free hand to rotate the barrels. The remaining archer held back. This wasn’t a fight she could win. Shooting a glance to Torfa’s group who had been whittled down to just two gave her the final push. Ducking her head she ducked her head and fled into the woods.

Torfa’s opening move was usually to provoke a class and then overpower his foes. Locking blades and using his strength to brute force through their stance worked most of the time. As his longsword met Vulpes’ defenses he planted his feet and began to push into the attack.
“COME ON!” he gleefully shouted.
Torfa wasn’t accounting for the proverbial steel of his opponent though. She seemed unfazed by his shock and awe tactics and as soon as he began to push into the attack he found his blade parried. Instinctively, Torfa shifted his footwork and attempted to prepare for a counter. He was a little shook, but that made this all the more exciting.

“Sorry, miss,” the orc shot a glance to his boss for a moment before squaring up against the caitsith again, “Boss’ boss would have my ass if I backed down now.”
The orc was of typical size for someone of his ancestry, but his build was far more athletic than the stereotype. He had gotten by with taking advantage of his unexpected nimbleness and his choice of weapons played to that. He was regretting his lack of range though in this situation. Plus, he had really run into a bit of bad luck being forced up against a caster. Should he take her up on the deal? Or was it just words to get him to hesitate so she could cast another spell.
He lunged forward, leading with his buckler, he just needed to get her blade out of the way like last time to close into the effective range of his shortsword.
