Location: Vjun
___The planet Vjun was the location of the castle of Count Dooku. T'vani was headed there with a Jedi Knight and another Fiani Padawan, L'Veth. The three were dispatched to the Deep Core world of Vjun to search for artefacts and to try to detect any dark nexi's presence. It was the freshly-ordained Padawan's first real mission, but despite that, T'vani didn't feel nervous. She had spent all her time as an Initiate training for this moment.

___The ship touched down not far from Count Dooku's castle. They would be there after a short walk. T'vani stepped outside and into the arid environment when the loading bay opened. The team had arrived during a lull in the planet's acidic storms, granting them ample time to make it where they needed to go. Even if a storm blew in, they could take shelter inside the castle, and the ship's shields would protect it from the weather.

___T'vani took a moment to ensure her vibroblade was at her hip. She had yet to earn the privilege to construct and carry a lightsaber. The young Fiani would have to rely on a vibroblade in the meantime and her capability with the Force.

___"It's north of here, right?" T'vani asked, looking at L'Veth and the Jedi Knight that had accompanied them. "We're supposed to go into the castle of Count Dooku, search for any artefacts, and see if we can detect the presence of a dark nexus. We take any artefacts we can find, dispel the dark nexus if we can, and then make our report to the council?"

If you were to ask L'Veth's opinion, the inclusion of a Jedi Knight escort on their little excursion was as little.. overprotective. Other padawans might need a chauffer to dive into an old Sith Lord's castle to retrieve force knows what artifact to take on some darkside nexus, but L'Veth sure didn't. She knew how to take care of herself, had been doing it all her life. Right? Right.

Moreover, damn right.

Of course, that exact attitude was precisely why a Knight was with her and T'vani, but that was beside the point. And not like L'Veth had the wisdom and foresight to see that anyway.

Instead, she kept her annoyance buried below the surface as a song played through her specially crafted Fiani-style earbuds, burying her generally unnecessary teen angst in heavy bass lines.

As the ship landed and the group made their way outside, L'Veth at least did the courtesy of taking out one of her earbuds so she could hear whatever it was the others might be saying.

Yeah, I also read the mission briefing, T'Vani, L'Veth said, barely able to control her eyeroll.

Gaze rolling over the scenery before them, L'Veth couldn't help but wonder why Count Dooku had made his home on such a shitty planet. Surely there had to have been better places out there than this. The weather was just god awful and she caught the faint scent of sulphureous air that made her nose crinkle in disgust.

We should be wary, She said as the group began trekking north, the looming silhouette of the castle coming into view. It's rumored that hssiss were bred here during the Clone Wars. Or at least, that's what the few books I've scrounged from the Jedi Library said.

As they reached the perimeter of the castle, their Knight escort - a woman named Oona - held up her hand, an indication that they should stop and take the time to survey their surroundings.

The most obvious route inside might not be the best choice. We should look for alternative routes. The Knight said, her eyes scanning the castle and its grounds.

Oona wouldn't lead the two padawans by the hand on this mission, she wanted to see their natural decision making skills play out. At least right now when the danger level was low.. or at least when it seemed low, anyway.

L'Veth would nod her head at the instruction, and begin looking at places other than the castle's front door. She'd head towards the left side of the grounds, heading her own advice and keeping an eye out as best she could for any shimmers in the air, a giveaway that an invisible hssiss was laying in wait.

___As L'Veth retorted about the mission briefing, T'vani frowned. The other Fiani misunderstood her, but this was no time to delve into semantics. Instead, T'vani turned her attention towards their surroundings as her Padawan partner mentioned Hssiss. They were a creature she was familiar with, possessing a bite that could poison someone with the dark side's influence. It was a fate she wasn't partial to falling to.

___"I'll watch out," T'vani answered L'Veth's warning. She wasn't familiar with this other Fiani or this Jedi Knight—Oona—that the temple dispatched her with, but they both seemed competent. This mission was considered particularly important, after all, and the Jedi Order spent no small amount of time deliberating who to send. It was an honour for them to choose her.

___When Oona spoke of alternative entrances, T'vani nodded. Burgundy eyes scanned the castle, slowly passing over its exterior to try and size up possible entries. Her ears flicked as L'Veth began walking away from the other two, and deciding there was better safety in numbers, accompanied by their Jedi Knight escort being more than capable of tending to herself, T'vani chose to walk with L'Veth. The girl fell in line behind her Padawan companion, keeping only a short distance away while she surveyed the area around them for potential dangers.

___After all, they both had lightsabers. T'vani had a vibroblade, and while it was a serviceable weapon, it still paled compared to what her team members possessed.

Mhm, L'Veth said idly in response to T'vani as the girl decided to head in the same direction as she did.

While it made sense in L'Veth's head for them to have split up to cover more ground, it was probably safer overall for the two padawans to buddy up and for Oona to head off on her own. L'Veth felt capable enough that should they stumble into any real danger she would be able to take care of it and to keep T'vani from being eaten by evil dark side lizards.. or whatever else called the derelict castle its home.

Quite abruptly, L'Veth would stop walking, something on the ground catching her eye and making her raise an eyebrow in suspicious curiosity. Kneeling down, she motioned for T'vani to come over to take a look. Lightly pressed into the dirt was a set of footprints that hadn't been ravaged by the winds or the acid rain.

These can't be very old, She said, following the trail as it seemed to head up toward the castle. Which means we are not the only ones here. Could just be scavengers, but my gut is telling me it's something more nefarious.

Well, that certainly complicated things. L'Veth was prepared to fight dangerous beasts, but the potential of having to scare off scavvers or worse hadn't been something she'd considered.

Look, L'Veth said quietly, pointing up toward a single broken window that stood out among all of the other intact ones. I think we found our way in, if you're brave enough to follow whoever got here before us.

Standing up, L'Veth headed for the broken window, using the force to scale the wall and leap up to the window ledge. Luckily the ledge was more than big enough for her to stand on, one of the good things about castles she guessed. L'Veth didn't pay much attention to if T'vani was going to follow her, she was going inside with or without the other padawan.

Whether that would be a good decision remained to be seen.

___T'vani stepped forward as L'Veth beckoned her, kneeling to examine what L'Veth pointed out to her. She could make out the imprints of shoes in the sand, untarnished by the inclement weather of the planet.

___"They aren't old at all," she confirmed, squinting closely at the tracks. The imprints were almost perfectly outlined in the soil, still damp and crumbling from the earlier shower. No water filled them. T'vani had enough experience tracking animals and hunting parties on Fiana that she knew these were almost as fresh as the tracks they were leaving behind. She rose to her feet as L'Veth elaborated upon the possibilities, and T'vani found no reason to refute her argument.

___"I'm right behind you," the girl said as she followed her companion. Once L'Veth had safely scaled the wall, T'vani followed, using the Force to push herself off the ground and clear the ascension in one jump instead of climbing. She landed silently behind the other Padawan, ducking through the window to follow her inside the castle. The inside of the chateau was quiet and eerily so, and their movements and voices were sure to echo off the walls. The upside, she supposed, was that it worked both ways.

___"They may have heard us arrive," T'vani whispered, keeping her voice particularly low so it didn't reverberate off the walls. L'Veth was a Fiani like her; she knew she'd be able to hear her. "I'll watch behind," T'vani informed her companion, her ears rising to a stiff point to listen for any noises that were out of place.

If they heard us arrive we'd probably already be dead. L'Veth said simply, making sure her voice was as quiet as possible. She wasn't trying to be dramatic or anything, she just figured it was best to be realistic.

Looking around the corridor the two now found themselves in, L'Veth's brow furrowed as nothing in particular seemed to stick out to her. Everything was eerily quiet and the dust that covered everything was undisturbed as far as she could tell. Something about this didn't sit right with her, but L'Veth couldn't quite put her finger on what was making her feel that way.

Well, which way do you think we should go? She asked, figuring at the end of the day it didn't really matter. They were in the center of a long corridor that stretched in either direction.

The path to the right looked like it ended in an L shape and possibly lead to a staircase of some kind. The path to the left ended with a large set of ancient looking wooden doors, and what lay beyond them was entirely a mystery. Though, when L'Veth looked closer, it seemed like the dust on the floor in front of the doors had been moved. Like they'd been opened somewhat recently.

Looks like whoever was here went through those doors down there. Want to follow them?

L'Veth was brave but she wasn't crazy, she wasn't going to go headlong into some Sith or something if T'vani didn't want to go with her. She might have been a little rebellious, but she didn't have a death wish.

Maybe we should avoid that until we group back up with Oona. Speaking of which, I wonder what she's found and why we haven't heard from her yet..

The strange feeling in the pit of L'Veth's stomach came back tenfold now, though she did her best to hide her worry from T'vani. No sense freaking them both out when she wasn't even sure if something bad had happened yet.

Right?

___When L'Veth proposed they would be dead if the unknown person heard them arrive, T'vani scrunched her brow. To her, either scenario was similarly as likely. The person skulking through the castle could launch an offence when they heard them arrive, but they could also lurk around the corner or in the shadows to take them by surprise. There was no point in arguing the case either way, as doing so would only distract them from paying attention to their surroundings.

___T'vani turned her attention towards the doors near the far end of the hallway. She felt compelled to seek out who or what might be lurking behind the doors, but L'Veth's statements following her suggestion gave the girl pause. This castle belonged to one of the biggest Sith Lords of the past, an alluring prospect for people from all walks of life. Anything could be waiting for them beyond the door, and most importantly, Oona wasn't with them anymore, nor had either of them heard from her since their arrival.

___"I agree," T'vani murmured. "We should meet up with Oona first, and we can bring her back here and follow the tracks," she elaborated. "It... is strange we haven't heard from her recently. Can we get through to her on comms or should we go searching for her?" T'vani asked. It was challenging for her not to give in to the feelings of worry or concern for their master's wellbeing. There was no way to be sure anything had happened, but the coincidence seemed too peculiar.

___They very well might be on their own now.

I don’t think we should back track, L’Veth said before pulling out her comm. Hopefully we can just reach her over comm.

L’Veth’s couldn’t help but let her eyes keep darting over to the door, expecting it to burst open at any minute and for them to be attacked by whatever lay beyond it. She wasn’t sure if it was just the shadows of the castle playing tricks on her, but she could almost swear she saw the handle of the doors slowly turning as she pulled the comm up to her mouth.

Oona? Are you there? She asked, the moments of silence she got in return seeming to stretch on for infinity. L’Veth’s tail swished idly and her ears twitched ever so slightly with worry. I think we might not be alone here. Oona? Hello?

Still, nothing but radio static coming across the comm. Well, that was extremely concerning. Thinking it might be better to lie than to admit that she might have been just a little scared, L’Veth looked at T’vani and gave her a half-cocked smile of attempted reassurance.

Could just be a storm rolling in messing with the frequency. The weather here is whack as fuck, no telling what kind of effect it could have. Personally, L’Veth didn’t believe that for a second, but it was a comforting idea at least. Much better than the possible alternative.

I think we should just push further into the castle. Oona will catch up with us eventually.

Biting her lip in thought, L’Veth would start heading towards the big wooden doors, fully intent on figuring out who and what lay beyond them. Hand placed on the doorknob, she would slowly turn it and pull the door open just enough for her and T’vani to slip through.

The room behind the doors was large and cavernous, its walls lined from top to bottom with ancient and decaying bookshelves. Most of the contents seemed to have been pilfered long ago, though there were still some datapads mixed with desiccated tomes perched near the ceiling, far out of reach except to the most determined ruins robber.

Another set of doors lay on the far side of the room - a set of stairs that headed downward just past them - though this time they were opened and it was more than obvious that someone had passed through this area recently. There were even small sconces lit on the walls, their flames dancing and flickering, casting long and malevolent shadows along the floor.

Moving further in, L’Veth suddenly brought her finger to her lips - the universal sign for quiet - as her sensitive ears, and presumably T’vani’s too, picked up the sound of voices coming from the stairwell. And they were getting closer.

The two Fiani girls seemed to have a decision to make.

___T'vani remained silent as L'Veth attempted to hail Oona over the comms. Her ears flicked as she listened in, the deafening silence sending unsettled shivers down her spine. She glanced at her companion again as she suggested the possibility of a storm, offering a weak smile in return. T'vani didn't believe it, and she could sense that L'Veth didn't, either. It was impossible to know what happened to Oona, but the forecast predicted there wouldn't be another storm so soon after the one that had just passed.

___"Yeah," T'vani meekly agreed. She followed L'Veth down the length of the hallway towards the doors, ensuring to keep eyes and ears at attention behind them. The girl followed L'Veth through the door as she opened it, looking around to take in her surroundings once inside the room. Vultures had been unkind to the castle throughout history, removing nearly everything within arm's reach over the centuries. T'vani scrunched her brow together as she examined the barren room, her attention falling on the door with the dust surrounding it disturbed.

___Then, she heard the voices. Her ears flicked towards the source. They were getting closer, and she knew it wasn't Oona. Oona was supposedly alone, and there was no feasible way for the woman to be on this side of the castle already. She glanced around the room, catching sight of an overturned table not too far away, facing the door. It was easily large enough for both of them to hide behind, and they hadn't left any noticeable tracks walking into the room. The dust near the door was also no more disturbed than when they entered.

___Thinking on her feet, T'vani signalled L'Veth towards the table before carefully leaping behind it. The other woman could either follow her, or place herself behind the outward-swinging doors to hide behind them, waiting for the people preparing to enter. In either scenario, they could both obscure themselves enough to have the element of surprise.

L'Veth nodded swiftly at T'vani's signal, following her lead without any argument. They were short on time and hiding was probably their best option. Not because she was particularly afraid, but because if they were out of sight, it would give them the ability to observe whoever these strangers were before they made their next move.

And if there was anything L'Veth had learned during her time as a petty criminal, it's that listening was a far more valuable proposition than fighting as a first choice. Information was hard to come by if the person you were trying to get it from was beaten to a pulp or, you know, dead.

Slipping behind the overturned table, L'Veth crouched low next to T'vani and waited for the strangers to appear, which didn't take long. There were two of them, both dressed in dark clothing. L'Veth didn't have the experience to recognize the garb as typical Sith attire, so she just assumed they were some kind of emo scavvers. A close enough approximation, all things considered.

I can't believe we managed to find it, one of them said, a human man with a bald head and patchy looking beard. But why do you think you are the one that gets to keep it?

Because you aren't brave enough to try to take it from me. The other one said, a grizzled looking Quarrian missing half of his face tentacles. From the looks of it, the loss was the result of a lightsaber wound sustained some time ago. And we both know it, Nere. So just keep your fucking mouth shut.

L'Veth turned to look at T'vani, her eyebrow raised in curiosity. What could those two possibly be talking about? Whatever it was, L'Veth was infinitely intrigued and felt compelled to find out. Given the two's nefarious seeming nature, it couldn't possibly be good.

I'm going to use this blade to carve my way through the sith all the way to Darth Tempest, fell the foul bitch and take the mantle as leader of the Sith for myself. And if you keep you play your cards right, I'll drag your sorry ass all the way to the top with me, Nere.

Biting her lip, L'Veth felt compelled to do something at this point. These guys seemed dangerous and apparently they had some sort of weapon that gave them the confidence to take on the dark lord of the Sith. She couldn't just let them leave..

Follow my lead, she whispered to T'vani before reaching for her own lightsaber.

Calling on the force, L'Veth let out a push that sent their cover rocketing towards the two Sith, turning the table into a rather effective projectile. The table smashed into human while the Quarrian seemed to have the wherewithal to doge out of the way. At least for the moment, it was two Jedi versus one ugly Sith.

Activating her lightsaber, L'Veth was ready to roll, hoping that T'vani was on the same page as she was.

If she wasn't, well, this probably wasn't going to go as well as L'Veth hoped.

___When L'Veth instructed T'vani to follow her lead, she nodded. She grabbed the hilt of her training sabre and waited. As her companion launched the table and sent it crashing into the human, T'vani leapt into action. The girl used the Force to springboard herself into the air, vaulting over the Quarrian to land on the opposite side, pinching him between her and L'Veth. Her training sabre snapped to life, two long, dark blue blades flushing out of either side of the hilt.

___She had adopted a modified stance for the Ataru form, accommodating for the saberstaff she wielded. It was a bold choice for a Padawan to go with such a complex and challenging weapon, but her posture suggested she was confident and capable enough to use it. She held the sabre at waist height, with one blade pointing towards the Quarrian and the other directly behind her. T'vani focused entirely on the Sith she and L'Veth had surrounded while her attentive ears angled towards the incapacitated human to listen carefully for him.

___However, T'vani remained quiet. L'Veth was her senior, and thus far, she had established herself as the proverbial leader during their brief pairing. The older Padawan might have been better suited for negotiating, assuming the Quarrian was open to such a thing. As much as T'vani doubted it, she remained stoically silent and prepared for a fight. With his resolve, she doubted he would be willing to stand down and submit himself to being detained.

If it wasn't for the extremely precarious and dangerous situation they found themselves in, L'Veth would have definitely taken a second to tell T'vani just how cool she thought the girl's lightsaber was. L'Veth had never seen anyone wield a double bladed lightsaber before and she was a little jealous that the other Fiani had the aptitude in swordsmanship to wield such an exotic weapon.

But now was not the time to ogle T'vani's sweet rod. For as neat as it was, L'Veth's attention was drawn to the Sith man, and the sudden burst of red light that filled the room. In the Quarrian's hand was a sleek, curved hilt lightsaber with a blade as red as a kinrath's eye.

Well, well what do we have here. A couple of lost little kittens far away from home. The Quarrian's tone was exceptionally condescending and saccharine, his squid-lips contorted into a vague simile of a frown of concern. Perfect timing for me, the blade craves blood and I would love to sate it.

Well, that was certainly a concerning thing for him to say. L'Veth's brow furrowed as the grip she had on her lightsaber tightened. At least at the current juncture, it seemed negotiation was not on the table. As the Quarrian lunged forward with an overhead swing of the saber, L'Veth would move to intercept him and block the attack with her own.

The smell of burnt ozone filled the room as the two weapons clashed, humming with energy and making that signature sound that sabers made when they were locked together. L'Veth could see the malice and hatred and - more distressingly - the glee in the man's eyes as they locked blades. He was stronger than her and L'Veth knew it, but right now it was two versus one.

Hopefully T'vani would be able to take advantage of the current deadlock between the two, otherwise L'Veth would be in a world of trouble very quickly.

___The Sith's words managed to put T'vani on edge. She felt the threat of the Sith's power and knew any misstep could be fatal. The Quarrian appeared driven to madness, whether through tampering with the dark side or caused by the lightsaber he carried, she didn't know. She didn't have long to contemplate it as he lunged for L'Veth, bearing down on her with an overhead swing. T'vani winced at the grating sound of lightsabers clashing, shaking her head to clear her mind. She knew this day would come.

___T'vani lowered her posture and tensed the muscles in her legs. She had an opportunity to strike but needed to be mindful of L'Veth on the opposite side. The Padawan lurched forward, looking up into L'Veth's eyes to communicate she was going into an attack. As T'vani closed the distance, she performed a forward thrust with the front blade(1) that the Quarrian would need to break his deadlock to deflect or dodge. T'vani ensured the thrust wouldn't be so far forward that it would risk tagging L'Veth, and if the other Fiani had seen her glance, hopefully, she would know to sidestep.

___Whether the Quarrian deflected the attack or dodged, T'vani hastily followed up with a horizontal stroke from right to left with the currently backwards-facing blade(2) to see if she could catch him off-guard. Using a saberstaff provided her with a unique advantage that traditional lightsabers didn't have, and while she was still new to utilising one, she had done enough research to have a good fundamental grasp of how to capitalise on most enemies' unfamiliarity with it.

(1) represents the front blade and (2) represents the back blade relative to a neutral stance.

L'Veth caught T'vani's look and returned it with one of her own, one of understanding and acknowledgement even during the heat of battle. As her ally attacked in with her saberstaff, L'Veth would maneuver herself just to the side so that T'vani's attack would only find its intended target and not clip her accidentally.

The Quarrian took notice of this and broke their deadlock, doing what he could to bring his own saber into a position to intercept T'vani's first attack. He succeeded, but not fully, redirecting the lunge away from his vital organs but still having the blade slide across his torso. The smell of singed skin filled the room as the Quarrian grunted through gritted teeth.

Having taken the glancing blow, he was in no position to deflect the follow up attack with any form of grace. The Quarrian clearly was not trained in fighting someone using a saberstaff, let alone two people at once. It seemed that most of his boasting was simple bravado given to him by the weapon he currently wielded.

Taking advantage of the situation, L'Veth's instincts took over and she stabbed her lightsaber forward and its tip found purchase in the Quarrian's back, piercing him through the chest as T'vani's second attack landed as well. The Quarrian died swiftly, taking in a single haggard breath as the light faded from his eyes.

L'Veth had never killed anyone before in her entire life and despite the fact that this man would have done it to both her and T'vani without a second thought and with no remorse, she had a strange and sad feeling in the pit of her stomach. She stared at his lifeless body with the smoking hole of where her lightsaber had pierced him in his chest.

Her eyes darted to T'vani to see if she were alright, but before L'Veth could say anything, she heard a groan of pain come from across the room from the other Sith she had hit with the table. Apparently he was still alive, and now the two Jedi needed to figure out what to do with him.

We should see if he knows anything useful, she muttered, pushing the thoughts of the Quarrian out of her mind for now.

L'Veth sighed heavily and ran her hand down her face as she headed over to the other Sith.

___T'vani watched the L'Veth piece the Quarrian in the chest. Her eyes locked with his as his life left him, and he crumpled to the floor. The girl watched in shock and fear at witnessing someone die right before her, the fact that she helped contribute to his death sinking in deep. T'vani tore her gaze away to look at L'Veth, catching the inquisitive glance. The Padawan nodded that she was all right before deactivating her training sabre.

___"Yeah," T'vani murmured. As she turned to approach the other man with L'Veth, she stopped. Her ears flicked up as a peculiar sound filled her sensitive ears. T'vani turned again, looking down at the lightsaber the man had dropped when he died. She could hear the lightsaber—or, more accurately, the kyber crystal within—calling out in pain. The more she focused on it, the more acutely she could hear it. The song of the Force she had grown so familiar with, distorted and disfigured.

___T'vani kneeled to pick up the lightsaber, examining it closely. Where the song of the Force and the voice of the kyber were usually melodic and rapturous, this time, it was discordant and woeful. The girl felt her heart sink as the pained song pierced her ears, causing a frown on her face. It wanted help. It was in pain she could scarcely fathom, and it pleaded and begged for relief. Moreover, she felt an ominous, foreboding feeling in the pit of her stomach from simply holding the hilt.

___"Be careful," T'vani said to L'Veth, shaking her head as she clipped the lightsaber to her belt. "He may be armed, too," she added, turning again to follow behind her companion, the hilt of her saberstaff still in her other hand. T'vani was ready to jump into action in case something happened, even if the death of the person with him still weighed heavily on her mind.

Then we will have to kill him too, L'Veth said quietly, the grip on her lightsaber tightening as she walked over to the other Sith.

She thought for a moment about deactivating it but thought that would be premature. For all she knew, both her and T'Vani were currently being lured into a trap that would soon be sprung on them. Instead, when she approached the man still stuck under the table, the two Jedi would find something much different.

A man, alone and scared, his eyes darting between their faces and the look on his own screaming please do not kill me even if the words themselves were unable to escape his lips.

Your friend is dead. She said simply, staring down her nose at the other Sith. L'Veth did her best to keep her expression neutral and stony, despite the uncertainty roiling beneath her facade. Why were you here?

The man struggled beneath the table and L'Veth noticed he was doing it with only one of his arms. She guessed the other one was broken based on the pained look on his face. After a few moments of struggling, the man eventually gave up on trying to free himself and sighed heavily between his gritted teeth and grunts of discomfort.

We came looking for a-artifacts. To grow our power. The d-darkside is strong here, Bylas s-said there was a nexus beneath the castle.

L'Veth said nothing as the man spoke, simply letting whatever he wanted to say come out of his mouth without interruption. He was afraid, that much was clear, and people who were afraid would tell you everything if they thought it meant not dying.

We didn't find it. But we f-found the saber.. Darth Tyranus' saber

L'Veth's eyes narrowed when he said that name. The Clone Wars might have been far in the past, but Jedi still knew of them. Darth Tyranus, or Count Dooku, used to be a Jedi before he abandoned the Order and served Emperor Palpatine. A strong force user and a traitor.

Should we let him go? L'Veth asked T'Vani, using the force to speak directly in her mind. I do not think he poses any danger to us in his current state.

Truth be told, L'Veth did not want to take another life today if she could help it. Even she could feel the darkness of this place and it seemed like if they gave in to another murder, they were taking another step down a path they might not be able to get off of.

I will follow your lead, T'Vani.

___Darth Tyranus's lightsaber? T'vani glanced down at the hilt now fastened to her utility belt. She recalled her times spent perusing the archives, learning about the history of the Jedi, especially the time involving the Clone Wars. When she thought about it, the similarities between Darth Tyranus's lightsaber and the one she now possessed were eerily similar. Her mind had no doubt that the words the other man spoke were valid.

___T'vani's ears perked up when L'Veth addressed her, asking her what they should do with the other man. Her carmine gaze fell on the injured man, simpering and huddling away from the two girls.

___"No," T'vani answered. "We can't just let him go, but we can't kill him or leave him to die, either," she continued. As quickly as they perked up, T'vani's ears folded back down in thought. It was a difficult decision, especially when the situation still had so many uncertainties. "We can help you, but you have to help us help you," T'vani elaborated as she approached, keeping her training sabre ready in case something happened. The girl joined L'Veth, looking down at the crumpled figure on the floor.

___"We can offer you a way out of here, but you need to tell us some things first," the Padawan began. "You said there is no dark side nexus under the castle? When you said you wanted to grow your power, whose? Yours and your friend's? Someone else's?" she asked, gesturing back to the body on the floor behind them. "And did you come across a Togruta woman? A Jedi, like us," T'vani concluded. They were pertinent questions that needed answers before she could decide what course of action to take next.
