Neither excelling nor faltering physically, Constance is able to perform average tasks and hold her own in combat.Due to the dexterous requirements of her weapon, and the feats tacked with it, Constance's dexterity is above average.Because of her brief time spent training as a Jedi, Constance's physical constitution is only slightly above average, as is her mental. Her time spent as a Jedi Padawan has give Constance slightly above average intelligence. She's most familiar with star charts.Constance's wisdom about things is average for a girl of her age, though she's known to sound above average occasionally.Social capabilities are something Constance cherishes, and is above average at, though she is known to be biased against men.

"You think no one is watching, you think you're smart enough to escape attention, and most foolish of all, you think no one cares. I do."
—Constance, to her father

Born on the planet of Kaal to Valor Maier and Serenity Maier, Constance was an only child.

Her mother was a Jedi Knight within the Order, and was frequently gone for prolonged intervals of time. Her father gallivanted through cities, drinking, maundering about how he was going to get a job and support the struggling family. He never did, and instead was often gone for several days at a time sleeping with different women while Serenity was away. The times that Serenity did come back, Valor was typically never home, and Constance left in the care of a neighbor or family friend.

"You'll have to forgive your father," Serenity always told Constance. "He'll saunter back one day and change for the better."

For years Constance held her tongue and swallowed her aversion, distracting her attention from the lucid adultery her father exhibited by training with a practice weapon similar to her mother's—a unique lightsaber with an elongated handle, about seven and a half feet in length, with the blade curving out and down in a scythe-like fashion by using a mestare crystal. Constance had never seen another Jedi with a weapon like her mother's, and was determined to be the next wielder when it was passed on to her someday. It required incredulous dexterity that would have exacerbated most people, but Constance was patient and had her mind set on it.

The bond that Constance shared with her mother was extraordinarily strong, but she felt a seething animosity for her father. One

One day while Constance was training and Valor was gone again, she received a visitor. Clad in Jedi robes, Constance felt her stomach lurch in anxiety. Inviting him in, he inquired about the whereabouts of Constance's father to which she stated, "Probably in bed with another woman—or several." The Jedi, his face attesting his confusion and disgust, stepped into the house. He and Constance sat down and began talking, when he informed her of the death of her mother. Constance felt her heart twist, ignoring his systematic speech of his supposed remorse, and how his heart went out to her.

Then came something she didn't anticipate: an invitation to Tython to join the Jedi Order. The weapon her mother used had been recovered, and was in storage at the temple there. He informed Constance that her mother had sensed the presence of the Force within her, but had never told her. She had left instructions that, if she were to die, she wished her daughter to be sent to train under Gracelyn Maier, Valor's sister and Constance's aunt. Before the Jedi could continue telling her everything, a hungover Valor stumbled through the door and bid a welcome to his daughter and the newcomer.

Infuriated, Constance accepted the Jedi's offer. She explained to her father that Serenity had been killed, and that she was leaving. A swift double blow dealt to his heart, Valor seemed confused and pleaded Constance not to go. She ignored his pleas, going into a fit about how he was never around, that he didn't care. She reiterated that she was leaving, and there was nothing he could do to stop her. A defiant Constance stomped out of the residence, the nameless Jedi shadowing her departure. Valor, realizing he had taken everything for granted, was left heartbroken and confused.

After arriving on Coruscant, Constance began her training as a Jedi Padawan under her aunt, Gracelyn Maier. She vaguely learned how to use a couple of different Force abilities, and how to use her mother's scythe-saber. What Constance picked up the most was how to subtly use the Force not to use powers, but how to augment her capabilities of fighting in melee circumstances. She always yearned for more knowledge, for more training, in order to become better and stronger. Gracelyn refused anything aside from standardized training, droning monotonously about power leading to the dark side of the Force.

Things continued that way for a few years before Constance finally grew tired of, what seemed to her like, minimal training. Without a word, she took her mother's scythe-saber and left Coruscant. A confused Gracelyn searched desperately for her overly enthusiastic niece, but Constance had already left the planet. She would find someone to teach her what she wanted to know, someone who wouldn't lecture her constantly about the "dangers of the dark side". She would better herself, and she would make her mother proud to call her her daughter.

In her searches for a new teacher, Constance finally stumbled across a man named Char. An ex-Jedi like herself, he had his own ship named the Celestial Phoenix. His work was occasionally questionable, but Constance didn't care. She felt like he could teach her everything she wanted to know, and didn't mind doing a few questionable things if it meant she could achieve her goal.
