I actually suggested a Mando-IK alliance before the timeline even started. The GA has the military and the jedi, the Empire have the Chiss and sith, so a Mando-IK alliance makes sense in terms of balance of power.

An IK and Mando alliance was done by me and... I think it was Weiss. Thing is, shit hit the fan before we could really do something.

I think it would be very interesting, and if the Separatist take the approach of a Loyalist purge I'll make sure that something of the sort happens with the small, unknown Loyalist-led indie faction I've been planning.

MUHAHA, THIS MOVEMENT WILL NEVER DIE!

To be serious though, now with the Separatist victory and their commitment to the Empire already, I don't see a Mando-IK partnership happening anytime soon. Which is a shame.

You really aren't understanding what I mean, and I don't know how to explain it better. <.<

Although this could be biased since my only character is a sith, I think the mandalorians should go with the sith. Or even the Chiss. The Sith from what I can tell these days are more like warriors than backstabbing politicians. And everyone always wants the best deal. That's how that works. But I think I can honestly say everyone also wants to have vast armies of heavily armed and armoured super commandos on their side.

Arcturus in particular would be thrilled to have the Mandos not be his enemies again. And very ticked to find out someone backstabbed them. He spent time with mandos as a kid. They're the reason for his honor system and warrior mentality.

You don't have to as an ex admin for a zelda site and an ex FL for an eragon for an Eragon site I know what yoy are trying to say its applying Ooc to ic without a sound reason -.- if the descriptions ic were shady investigate it, if not move along and rp your character without applying that knowledge not bashing you or your ideals just stating what you are suggesting is wrong

You are wasting you time posting this stuff, James. You obviously don't understand what I mean when I say, 'If there is an OOC reason, an IC reason will soon follow'.

Just to clarify one last time, it basically means that they would find a reasonable reason for their IC change of heart. And considering the Sith-Mandalorian alliance is far from official, it is entirely reasonable to suggest they had a change of heart.

The characters Jack and Jill decide to go to a well and fetch a pail of water. Jack is tasked with the actual fetching. IC Jack doesn't know that Jill has planted a snake at the bottom of the well so that when Jack brings the pail back up the snake will bite and poison him. However, OOC, the roleplayer controlling Jill reveals such information to the roleplayer controlling Jack.

Jack's roleplayer is very keen on keeping his character alive. You can bet your ass that he'll word the fetching of the pail in such a manner to keep him from being bitten. He'll still go through with the fetching, for there would be no grounds not to, but he might describe Jack as wearing thick leather gloves to assist his labor, gloves that might withstand the snake bite, or bowing his head which is topped by a wide sunhat due to a bright day, shielding his neck from any snake.

Implementing such actions, subtle though they might be, do not outright create circumstances that lead to crossing the line between IC-OOC. Rather, certain OOC things simply influence IC things, habitually, naturally, consequently, whatever.

The question of alliances itself is one such crossing. In order to decide what faction is best for the Mandalorians to ally with IC, one must first look at the circumstances from an OOC point of view. After all, that's why roleplay has both planes of existence so to speak: roleplay is an entire system. It's not inherently IC. IC is just one side of roleplay.

Well done but my beliefs remain the same, ic and Ooc should be as separate as church is from the state

Anyways, new question from me... Do you think it would be okay to established a more organized military with a uniform armor? Basically, a military that would be similar to the days when the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders were the dominate Mandalorians.

I mean, when you think about it, it is going back to the old days. :33
I'd to hear others thoughts on this.

Personally I would support it, but that's probably because I'm such a fan girl of the era in time that the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders ran about. We could also implement the Blood Strips thing that the MSM had going on, it was a pretty cool idea.

I think if we were to do a "uniform" like that, it would be best to do it with the lowest ranks. I think part of the fun of having a Mando character is having your own personalized set of armor, and we could set it up as a reward system. The higher you move in the chain, the more individualized your armor can be.

Yeah, I was just thinking about that. Having the ability to have your personal armor in combat in the Mando military be something that people thrive to be able to do.

It gives reason for people to strive for promotion, besides fact you are getting a better rank.

Or maybe we could use it in a commando type group, but you have to have already gone through so many ranks of the Mando military before being able to join it.

It will keep the Mandalorian Military structured, whilst still offering a chance for players to have their own suits of armor in combat with the military.

Eh, I simply noticed the arisen issue, but before jumping in I decided to keep calm and have a can of beer. Works wonders.

If that were the case, right down to the most technical and strict letter, we wouldn't be having a discussion of Mandalorian alliances to begin with. You cannot keep IC and OOC totally separate, just as you cannot keep Church totally separate from state. In one way or the other, one influences the other. If the Church wants to build a new church, it must use funds permitted by the state. If the state wants to hold a royal wedding at a church, they need to first consult the Church. Their business has to mix somehow, directly or indirectly.

I press upon this because we need to bear that in mind when establishing an alliance. Look at the Empire and the Galactic Alliance. I haven't been here long, but it seems like the former is more active than the latter. That might give an idea as to which would be a better ally. What does activity involve? IC it involves, well, IC developments. However, such developments cannot occur without OOC presence. After all, someone has to control the characters.

Anyways, new question from me... Do you think it would be okay to established a more organized military with a uniform armor? Basically, a military that would be similar to the days when the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders were the dominate Mandalorians.

I would love a uniform. I intended my Mandalorian character to have a Neo-Crusader-esque uniform to begin with.

I think the Mandalorians have more pressing concerns than pimping their uniforms.

Agreed. I for one think the alliance thing needs some more attention, but if not, we could talk about objectives.

Besides, the only way to pimp a Mandalorian outfit is to introduce the tutu. Color-coded at that to symbolize rank and status. Adding frills could be like adding badges.

I think everything but uniting the clans and getting a faction leader is irrelevant until you get those two things done.

Fair enough, but this thread is to get the former to happen through talking with each other, etc. sometimes simply talking about random crap mends hurt feelings.

Yeah, well since the whole uniting/finding a FL is currently residing on the outcome of the duel, I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to be motivated and come up with what to do after the duel is completed. I mean, we could always just take a page out of this timeline's favorite book, the Freeze and Wait for Something to Happen, but I think we're better suited continuing to stay motivated and come up with ideas.

Or we could just sit around and wait, you know, that could work too.

EDIT: 1000th post, woohoo!
