Roman's transport banked low, sweeping through the grey skies of Raxus toward the diamond-shaped complex below.

Deep down, the squire was glad to have made it this far. Roman had been shocked to emerge from his seclusion on Telos IV to find the Empire at war, with the stinking Hutts of all people. The space lanes were more dangerous than usual and he was fortunate Raxus was a major mustering post. No one questioned a squire on his way to report for duty.

The journey had given him plenty of time to think of course and more than once he had come close to going back on his decision. But then he had grasped the amulet around his neck, felt the trace of power still stirring in the metal, and recommitted to his course. He had to think of himself today.

Roman was getting better at that. He had paid another visit to Moff Stennar before leaving, saying nothing of his plans but reminding the man their deal stood irrespective of future events. He would keep the man's treachery a secret and in return he would have access to the spoils whenever he chose.

He had dropped Jace a message too, though he had kept it vague. Roman liked the Mando and he did not like many people. Part of him had wanted to ask him along, but it would have made his task today much harder. Besides, he could not be sure where he was going next, and he already cared enough not to risk landing Jace in more hot water. Maybe when this was all over, they could reconnect.

The ship set down and Roman had the droid pilot sort the relevant clearances. Imperial squires could go most places, though it was rarer for them to do so alone. He had his answers ready should Czerka staff ask, and the makings of a plan. Strangely, despite everything he was risking today, he also had his old confidence.

The ramp lowered and Roman set out across the landing ground toward the complex, his crimson cloak flapping in the wind.

"I'm busy, make it quick." Julia wasn't lying. Since heading back to Raxus it had been nothing but meeting after meeting. The Imperial war effort demanded her full attention, as the CEO of one of the largest Imperial Companies inside their space, she had a considerable part ot play in ensuring the war machine was well-equiped, and ready for action.

She walked down the corridor outside the main board room at the top of the primary building of the compound, accompanied by some hangers on and a few other board members. "There's been a hold up on our TIE production line. Why?" she listened as one of the hangers on went through some of the labour issues the line was facing. It needed to be solved - she made a mental note to contact the ISB, and see any of the rabble rousing union organisers moved to a neary prison planet.

"Why is there a ship landing in the VIP area?" Julia turned and looked out of the window. An Imperial Knight? Of course. Nothing could be easy these days could it? She made her way down to the elevator, and would see if she could head the Imperial Knight and get to the bottom of this visit.

As Roman arrived in the cool, sharp foyer the elevator slid open and CEO Julia Hipori emerged. The squire had acquainted himself with her holorecord on his way here, but he had hoped to have the elevator ride up to rehearse his lines. Fuck it.

"Madam Hipori" he said in greeting, snapping to attention and bowing his head. "I am Roman Kallo. My superiors sent to me provide close protection. A woman of your stature is a target in these difficult times". He left out the squire - hoping she would make assumptions - and was sure to give her a warm smile when his head came back up, with both mouth and eyes. She was a married woman, but a woman still, and he needed to play every card he had today.

"Sorry if my ship is in the wrong place" he said, grinning apologetically as he noticed the growing consternation. "I wanted to get to you as quickly as possible, though I see you're very busy. I was going to start with a Force sweep of the lower levels?".

He slowly began stepping aside in case her frenetic manner might carry her past with a simple 'Yes'. Things might be quicker, if not simpler, if she came with him, but his priority was getting to the sublevel.

Close protection?

She didn't need the assistance of some Imperial Knight to keep her safe. Julia had been through worse than some minor scuffle with a Cartel, and she was still here. She shook her head - here in an Imperial Corporate Authority, she held the power. "I don't need your protection. You can leave." she cut across the man, turning on her heels and making to leave.

Nodding to the security guards she added "Show him out." and started toward the elevator again, keen to see this man off her property, so she could get back to work.

Julia would need to get to the bottom of which Imperial Council member was trying to foist Imperial Knights on her, and exactly why they where trying to do so.

Roman’s smile collapsed like a cheap stool. He had expected a high-powered woman like Julia to question him, perhaps even resist the protection detail. But dismiss him and order him out, this bitch was cold.

He had to think fast. “I have information too Mam“. He raised a warning hand toward the security man, who hesitated briefly. “For your ears only” Roman added, boldly stepping after Julia and towards the elevator. He was all in now. They were getting in the elevator one way or another.

For God's sake.

This man was persistent if nothing else. She waved her guards away. If he had something to say, she may as well let him say it. She nodded as he stepped into the elevator, leaving her guards outside as she pressed the button to send them to the 50th floor.

"You're persistent, I give you that." she stated bluntly, as the lift whizzed them up a few floors.

She looks at the man, expectantly awaiting his response to her question, hoping he has something useful for her.

You’ve no idea” Roman replied, whirling the moment the elevator doors closed to throw Julia against the wall with the Force, igniting his saber with his other hand and slashing to sever her right arm at the elbow.

He could not kill her just yet, needing to use her to bring the whole of Czerka down. But he had read her file and knew she was not defenceless. The wound would ensure her compliance.

His blood pounded as he struck. There was a certain ecstasy to lashing out at someone so senior, taking his destiny in hand rather than waiting for it. Roman was young, Imperial and an apparent ally. She had no reason to expect the attack and limited options for doing anything about it.

She was also an arrogant witch, which would make it all the more satisfying if the blow connected. Then they were turning this thing around and going down.

There was no way she could have seen the attack coming.

Julia was thrown back against the 'wall' of the elevator, she screamed as the lightsaber sliced through her arm, severing it at the elbow. The pain was enormous - and she nearly blacked out.

Perhaps it was spite that stopped her.

She dropped to her knees, using her remaining arm to stop her falling completely. "What do you want?" she spat at the man, looking up at him. Julia prayed that someone would notice something was amiss - surely if anyone saw them, that much would be obvious?

Sure enough, Roman felt his blade carve through skin and bone. Julia Hipori was on her knees in moments, a CEO no longer. Merely his prey.

I want out of this” he said, looking at her with a new disdain. “This system that puts people like you above people like me”. He threw the Force at her again, this time just for fun, aiming to knock her on to her side. It was addictive, breaking all the rules.

Roman leaned over and keyed the panel, reversing the elevator’s direction and heading down to the cargo bays below the complex. Czerka traded in some of the Empire’s most destructive weaponry. It was time for a real quick inspection of the stuff that went bang.

He kept his eyes on his charge as they headed down, knowing he did not have that long before Julia’s aides would be expecting her somewhere else. He would need to be quick and stay on his new game.

It was who he was now, and he liked it.

She didn't like feeling powerless. At the mercy of a mad force user was not how she had seen today going. Julia knew her aides would expect her soon - she also guessed Roman had probably worked that out as well.

Julia had to think fast.

There was no way she could fight the man and win. She has to find something else. As the elevator headed down, she realised he was going to the cargo level.

He was looking to rob them?

”You'll never get away with this. The ISB will find you.” she began ”But I can stop them, I have powerful friends. I can keep you safe.” she added, as the elevator dinged, reaching it's destination.

The ISB have their hands full” Roman scoffed, stepping around the broken woman as the elevator slowed to a halt. He reached down and yanked Julia up in front of him, an arm around her midriff and his saber against her neck. There was no way of knowing how busy the cargo level would be at this time. If he had to threaten a few labourers with their boss’s life, so be it.

As it was, the doors swished open revealing a quiet and empty cargo hold. Roman shoved Julia hard in the back, shunting her out of the elevator. Sure enough, the cargo level appeared practically deserted, stack upon stack of perfectly ordered goods needing no attention.

Roman didn’t stop to thank his luck, instead leading Julia along the vast lines of products stacked high. The inventory and holo displays punctuating the ceiling were easy enough to follow and they found the munitions easy enough.

The squire hefted a top class thermal detonator. “What do you say we introduce a few of these to your power generators?“. The information he had been able to access on the journey over had suggested the complex’s power source was also down here. Roman was no physicist, but he suspected the two together would be quite enough to cripple Czerka, and by extension the Empire. The spirit amulet was still around his neck. Hopefully it was watching all of this.

Where’s the generators?“ he asked, his tone serious. This had all gone far too well and Roman had fought through enough setbacks in his life to know such luck seldom held. He was going to make his own luck tonight.

She kept as still as she could as she was moved from the elebator and to the cargo level floor. With a ligtsaber at her neck, there was not exactly much she could do that would end her life prematurely. Soon, she was shunted to the floor again, and picked herself pack up gingerly.

Her eyes widened as he took out a thermal detonator. The man was planning to blow them all sky-high. There was no way they would get out of the blast range if he set that off near the generators!

She needed to buy more time.

"The generators will be secured." she said "You'll need to go through that way," she pointed her 'stump' at a door to their right, behind which she knew was a security checkpoint. But, her captor didn't need to know that.

"That'll take you to a maintanance corridor, which brings you out under the generator." she lied.

She answered without having to be persuaded. Good. He had her right where he wanted; frightened and compliant.

Roman stalked towards the door to the right, pulling Julia with him. He did not have the aptitude to sense her lie amidst the myriad of emotions they were both feeling and overconfidence seized him.

Pulling open the manual cargo door, the squire found himself faced with half a dozen security guards, apparently congregating for a caf break around a central security desk. The few moments it took them to register the lightsaber and wounded Julia were the only warning Roman had.

He threw the CEO to the floor hard in front of him, leaving her to lie between him and the guards as he span back through the doorway, a hail of blaster bolts pursuing him. Roman cursed, having lost his hostage and his cool. He made a snap decision, yanking the thermal detonator from his belt and throwing it back through the opening to clatter against the security desk.

Roman slammed the door shut and put his back against the wall, gritting his teeth against the inevitable. Those inside would die, but this had not been his plan. He was about to set off every fucking alarm on this level, if not the entire complex.

He clutched at the amulet beneath his breastplate. He had minutes to get this done, or he was dead.

Julia let out a small yelp as she was thrown to the floor of the security room. She rolled over, trying to see what was going on - but it was all happening too fast.

Trying to regain her footing, she watched as the door closed, but not before a thermal detonator was cast into the room.

”F-” she never finished her sentence.

The room was engulfed in flames. She was torn apart in an instant.

Security claxons blared into life across the facility, as the detonator claimed its victims. Roman had made his presence known, and the Imperial Czerka HQ was begining to be placed in lockdown.

Across all levels, security began to flood to checkpoints, drone droids began patrols, and blast doors slammed shut.

Once the blast went off, Roman didn't waste a second. He ran, back the way they had come, making for the stacks of munitions.

Julia Hipori would be ashes now. He had murdered one of the Empire's top people, a feat he would not have thought himself capable off only a few weeks ago. He would enjoy explaining to Moff Stennar just what he could do these days, if the two ever met again.

Klaxons blared and lights flashed, but Roman ignored them for the moment, reaching the munitions and loading up once again. He rolled a large shell out of its protective bag and filled the thing with a selection of smaller charges and thermal detonators. Slung over his shoulder, the pack looked inconspicuous enough.

He strode off across the cargo floor, taking the opposite route to the one Julia had falsely had him take. There was actually impeccable signage he realised if you knew where to look. Already in the heart of the facility, he did not run into any forcefields or blast doors. Roman had always known the hardest part would be getting down here; the place was obviously designed to keep those up above out, not prevent those already inside from moving around.

A door whizzed open to his right and a clutch of security men sallied forth.

"Just what the hell is going on here?" Roman shouted, catching them off guard and taking the gamble that they would know little beyond an explosion just yet.

"Wha- erm a Knight? A Knight, erm yes Sir there's been an explosion, fight maybe, some staff have dropped off the comm and they are saying Ms Hipori can't be reached". The man spoke quickly, hedging his bets until he knew just who Roman was. But he definitely clocked the armor, and it seemed he did not yet have any orders to be suspicious of an Imperial Knight.

"Then get to the elevators!" Roman hissed as if it were obvious. "That's the quickest way up top and surely the culprits will gather there!" He ignited his saber, striding past the man confidently "I will make sure the generators and storage hangar are secure".

The men hurried away, frantic looks on their faces and Roman jogged on, praying his cover held just a little while longer.

Coming to a rail above a deep recess, he was overjoyed to find a quadrangle of massive power generators set into the earth. With a nervous glance over his shoulder, he slipped down the gantry steps and started pulling detonators from his pack, affixing them to the huge cylinders and setting the timer.

"Watch me work spirit" he murmured, breathing fast. "This is fucking commitment".

Captain Zeer was a tough man.

He'd worked Corporate Security for years, rising through the ranks on the back of a reputation for 'taking care of business', no questions asked.

He stormed down to the cargo floor, wearing the basic flack vest in light blue, a peaked cap, pistol at his hip, and an electrostave in his hands, held like a club. "Where are you, you little shit." he snarled, spitting on the floor as his scarred face curled into a cruel smile.

The Captain thundred over to the Imperial Knight just as the man strode toward the generators.

Something smelt....off.

"'ELLO 'ELLO 'ELLO." he thumbed the controls on the stave, it hummed into live.

"What's goin' on 'ere then?" his moustache twitched, his sideburns practically tumescent. His left hand drew his blaster.

A great swelling sense of self-importance flowed thew him, as he demanded the possible intruder explain himself.

Or he'd give that man a bloody good thrashing.

Roman was just fixing up one of the last charges when he heard pounding feet on the metal gantry and a voice calling out like something from a kids cartoon.

He stepped out to the side of one of the generators, stomach churning at the sight of the moustached plod. He did not have time for this!

Roman was no actor and he dared not use the same trick twice. In any case there was no time to talk his way through this one - he had set several detonators already and two were clearly visible over the security guard's shoulders, merrily counting down from 4 minutes.

"Above your pay grade" Roman snapped back, balling every ounce of anxiety and fear he had right now and throwing the Force at the man.

The officer was thickset, but the push should be more than enough to send him stumbling and Roman was already running at him, saber flashing into being as he made to swipe at him and sprint past.

The squire did not much care if the man went down or blocked the blow, as long as he made it past him. There was no time for anyone to change what was about to happen; he had to get to the storage hangar and steal a ride out of here before it blew.

He was winded as the force user attempted to use his sorcery against him.

But Zeer was a man of VIM, and indeed, of fine fettle. He was not about to allow some snipe like Roman to get past him! He stagged back a few steps as the man swept forward, but swiftly found his footing, bringing his stave up to block to lightsaber. Zeer brought his left knee up into the mans groin as he blocked his attack, a good old Raxus Kiss as he called it.

"UNK." he unked.

Next, he headbutted the man firmly on the noggin, his thick skull impacting with Romans considerably more dashing features.

"You cheeky blighter." he exclaimed, exclaimationally.

There was a tremendous explosion from an adjacent wall which caved in from the attached hangar. The dust settled to reveal a fully armored Mandalorian with a blaster in hand. The walking armory unleashed a full payload of whistling birds that wove through the air and exploded on the guards that had accompanied the man engaging Roman presently.

Jace stepped over the bodies, walking over towards the little fisticuff happening as the next round of blows happened. He leveled his wrist, not risking a shot, and launched the whipcord to wrap around Zeer’s legs. If successful, he would harshly yank and make him faceplant.

The Mandalorian said nothing to Roman, simply jerking backwards with his thumb to indicate for the squire to run back towards where he had a ship waiting.

Somehow the guard did not go down, staggering back to block Roman's blade with his damn stick thing. What an absolute knobjockey. Was he trying to get himself a medal or something?!

The man's gumption caught Roman off guard and the reverberating block held him fast, long enough for the chap's knee to slam into his groin and then his head into the squire's nose. Roman cursed. Why was it his lot to be perpetually headbutted?

He was reeling, trying to hold his stance in the face of blossoming pain below and ringing in his ears above, when the ringing seemed to explode into the room. A wall had suddenly fallen in. Roman tried to gather himself, ready to face down a line of troopers in a final stand.

But it was Jace. He knew that armor, even if he had only seen it a few times. He had stared at it long enough, wondering how a card like Jace could be reduced to a tantrum over a hunk of metal. Jace was here, how?!

But knobjockey was exclaiming loudly. Roman went for a simple punch with his free hand, aiming to smite the man in the jaw even as his Mando friend struck with the whipcord. He coupled the blow with a shove, disengaging and trying to make for whatever ship Jace must have brought with him.

Behind him the timers on half a dozen detonators began to sound ominously. They literally had seconds now.
