The planet hung like a marble of blues and greens before the front view of the Galahad, a planet whose stance, both anthropologically and historically, was a mystery to the greater stance of the galaxy.

For a moment, Indy allowed herself a simple, enjoyed view of it. The planet itself was inhabited by a sociologically adept society, yet their technology was fairly archaic; in many ways, she longed to do a study of the religion of the indigenous peoples, as well as a scan for all the wealth accrued. All clues led to this place, all faint traces as echoes of the past that somehow wound up here.

Even with her eyes closed, she could feel the peaceful touch of the Light Side. But eyes remained open, and like any other artifact hunt, she felt a pulse of excitement fluttering in her veins, a smile touching on her lips. Commlink pinged to her companions, golden eyes sparkled with delight.

"Land in the jungle if you must, but there's a dwelling not too far from our permitted landing space. And bring your waterproof clothes, there might be some cave-ins or tidal changes. But if reports are right.." she exhaled, leaning back into her chair.

"This discovery will be big. Galahad, checking in. How is everyone?" She had one other, glancing over to them with a small smile.

"Excited?"

Talak was finally starting to adjust to his new life. The months since he had left the Sith had involved a lot of retraining himself and breaking bad, deeply ingrained habits. He hadn't been overly successful at the latter part, and more than a few of those habits still remained.

In the most recent of days, he had started picking up odd jobs for the Jedi here and there. He hated that all of this came just as he had begun to actually get somewhere with Trys, but he had vehemently and repeatedly assured her that this wasn't him sidestepping out of her life.

Talak rubbed his face in his hands, wiping the thoughts away and trying to focus himself on the job at hand. Stressing about things that were distant was dangerous. He needed to keep his mind on the here and now.

As Artee eased the Nomad into the atmosphere and toward the agreed upon landing zone, Talak closed his eyes and reached out to the Force. It flowed lightly here. It was a light blue or perhaps a green in his mind, though a hint of something darker lay under the surface. Though he couldn't place a finger on it, the darkness seemed to nag the back of his mind that he tried to push aside for now.

Nomad here. Everything's on schedule and looking good. See you at the landing zone, Galahad, he replied to the inquiry. Although he didn't know Indy personally, he figured this was as good an opportunity as any to meet his fellow Jedi. He wasn't much for social gatherings, but getting to know others on the job was an outstanding way to make acquaintances with someone.

The Nomad settled down in a large clearing, certainly sizable enough to accommodate several medium sized ships, which was precisely what they needed. He grabbed a cloak to throw over his clothes and descended the ramp of his ship. The air was damp but fresh. Trees seemed to stretch up into the air as far as the eye could see, and puffy white clouds hung overhead while a more imposing, dark grey sheet of clouds could be seen in the distance.

Looks like rain as well, he commented into his comlink, adding to her statement about waterproof clothes. Yes, he anticipated a wet day today.

Felix was practically vibrant with both excitement and nerves on the whole trip here, this was his first mission as a padawan and well his first really out of the temple except for the trip to find his kyber crystal and build his lightsaber. he checked through his pack when indy mention waterproof to double-check he brought everything he needed, which he did.

"Very." Felix enthusiastically replied without hesitation "Very excited, knight Sati. I can't wait to see what's down there" that line of thought brought to his mind the question.

what was down there? Why were they here? He had only heard snippets of the briefing, he was a late addition to the mission? expedition? His face scrunched up trying to recall but only to draw a blank, though he thought the best ask. "Why are we here, knight Sati?" he put emphasis on the why part.

"Burning...gina?" The Mandalorian tried saying the name of the planet out loud. He was unfamiliar with the system but that was apparently due to the planets isolated history. Rather than offend someone or look like a di'kut, Roland decided to stick with just calling it Burinja. This was the first time he was going to be joining two Jedi. I thought there was mention of a padawan. So maybe there's three, or four. All the more reason not to look like a moron.

"This is Cobalt Viper. No problems here. Should we be expecting company?"
The Lieutenant wondered if they would be trapsing through the wilderness but mostly asked because if he needed to be especially armed for this occasion he would grab what he needed from his weapons locker. The patrol ship was the last to come into the landing spot after the dynamic class freighter. The unique drive sound of the firespray would be the last to quiet down as it landed in its unique skyfacing manner.

Shortly after, Roland would exit his ship and join the others. Unlike the Jedi, Roland already had was ready for a downpour. Hopefully there wouldn't be too much swimming though. It wasn't easy to move in water when weighed down by armor.

Over each shoulder was a different droid. Gremlin and Gazer, which both floated out ahead of him between the parked ships. Outside, the Mandalorian looked to the sky, wanting to see what rain looked like for the local clouds. So far pretty on par with any other planet he had traveled to. Roland followed it with a deep breath, smelling the moisture and the faint scent of the sea in the distance. There was some collected data on the planet which he read en route to the planet. But it was less than he considered ideal. At the same time it also gave merit to a possible 'undiscovered' find.

Ever since he'd answered the call to help on Kashyyyk, Hannibal had found himself repeatedly out of his usual Urban operating areas and wandering around ruins and forests instead. After the pronouncement of war by the Sith, the Jedi Order seemed to be going as hard in exploration and expansion as it had in investigating Sith activity. The young Master had been bounced back and forth between such work, rolling with it and taking advantage of his relatively versatile skillset. At least he was still usually in the Outer Rim. He didn't think he had it in him to regularly deal with nobles.

"Catspaw coming in to land," came in over over the comms, the ship coming into view of the group of already landed ships. His was something of a last minute addition to the group, but if what Indy was looking for was what they found, he certainly wasn't going to be left out. His aging ship landed smoothly enough, though the sound of it powering off might be interpreted as worrying. He'd modified it further to keep it going while he arranged for a new vessel but there was only so much he could do for it in the end.

As the departure ramp lowered and Hannibal stepped out he took a deep breath, soaking in the abundance of life in the area. The Living Force was strong here, though in a different manner than on a busy ecumenopolis or the overgrown Shadowlands of Kashyyyk. Something felt off about it, as of an imbalance or a distant danger, but he put that aside for the moment. It was no use dwelling on it so early in the adventure, and Hannibal trusted his instincts.

Ever adaptive in his wardrobe, he'd dressed for their adventure in a
very practical outfit, light weight, weather resistant, and with quite a bit of waterproofing. A variety of tools sat in sheaths or pouches on his belt underneath his poncho, including his combat fusioncutter, alongside his DG-29 holstered on the right and a pair of lightsabers on the right. Sol Puara's lightsaber sat alongside his own original on magnetic clips, a frequent arrangement since his promotion.

He stepped out of the ship toward the others with his ID-21 droid Ego following in behind already actively scanning the surroundings and offering the occasional informative beep or twill regarding atmospheric composition or flora. He offered a cheery wave at the others, recognizing all but one of them. Or at least the armor in Roland's case.

"Yo!" he said by way of greeting to all present and stopped before the group. "Nice day for adventure, isn't it?" he asked no one in particular while looking up at the graying skies, then looked over at Talak. "How've you been? Staying out of trouble and off the couch I hope?"

Her lips twitched, glancing over to the kid with her. Though she had taken on Byron partially with Master Grayza as her own Padawan, this kiddo could also be adopted into the fold. He was certainly chatty enough. She resisted the urge to playfully ruffle his hair as the Galahad descended a little further into the jungle, mindful to not be too close to any dwellings. No point in startling the locals too much just yet. They had tentative permission for now to enter this cave... and only because of its' historical value.

"We're here because there's a legend that before the Empire of Palpatine, there was a Jedi scout ship that came here," she spoke calmly, but golden eyes glimmered with subdued excitement. "And if that rumor is true... there is an artifact there that is older even than that Order itself. Old enough, in fact, to be eons old..." her voice trailed off into thought as she unclipped from her seat, then began descending from the YT-1300.

It was a relic, and rather shabby, but she adored it for all its' shabbiness and its' practicality.

Master Grayza and Roland Rook were the two she was most familiar with, Talak Rand being someone she barely knew in passing. Perhaps they had nodded to each other once or twice or something, but she did recognize him by face at least. She gave him a smile and nod, but Roland definitely got a wide smile, golden eyes glittering.
"Well now, glad you made it," she spoke up, chuckling. And seeing Master Grayza... her eyes softened ever so slightly.

"Good day for hunting," she replied airily, nodding to the sky. "It's the tides I'm more worried about. This close to the sea, some of these caves will be pretty damp, and possibly flooded some in areas. Water never bothered me too much however." She wasn't worried about the tides; this much closer to the surface, she could feel it too. An edge of something, lurking in the dark.

Waiting for them to make a move first.

The cave itself was of some distance from the shoreline, but water still hissed close to its' black, volcanic-looking rock, and the sandy lip that protruded into the beach. Within, the dark was deep, silent. Waiting for those who would dare to enter.

Flicking on a light, she glanced back to her companions, and gave a small nod.
"Well now. Time for another adventure," before stepping in to the cooler, damp cave, the thin light piercing the gloom. From within the first few steps, all seemed ordinary rock and stone. Rough, slippery stones meant to trip up the unwary traveler, all the while her senses on fine alert.

It was only a few meters further that the stones seemed to smooth, almost unnaturally, and the walls as well. Only the ceiling remained naturally rocky.

Otherwise, nothing else seemed to change within the dark, but for those sensitive enough they would feel it, almost like a whisper of breath against the nape of a neck. Hungry, patient.

Biding its' time.

Talak waited as the various ships finished setting down and the pilots and passengers emerged. He watched the droids zip past in front of Roland and wondered if they were some sort of recon droids. It certainly would be useful for what they were here to do.

He was surprised to see Hannibal emerge from one of the ships. It had been a while since the two Jedi had seen each other and he struggled to suppress the smirk at seeing the man.

You know me, he said in a tone that was forcibly flat. Talak didn't do well with "sitting" or doing nothing. He got impatient far too quickly for that.

The organizer of their little expedition emerged from her ship, and Talak couldn't help but notice that she'd brought what he assumed to be a Padawan along. This wasn't because he didn't feel like a Padawan could be here, but because he'd noticed that masters and trainers seemed to just happen to keep any Jedi under the age of eighteen away from him. They must have assumed Talak was going to teach them all sorts of nasty dark side habits.

Or perhaps Talak was just paranoid. Although the two weren't mutually exclusive.

Quite, he agreed as Indy commented that it was a good day for hunting.

He moved forward and followed into the cave, pulling the lightsaber from his belt and lighting it to further illuminate the dark. The pure silver of the blade made an outstanding light in the darkness, and even as they pushed forward, he could feel something... uncomfortable. It wasn't unlike being hunted in the shadowlands of Kashyyyk.

They came to a sharp drop off of about eight feet, and Talak dropped down, hitting the ground with a dull thunk against the stone.

These temples usually have defenses, he said. Perhaps they were further into the caverns or perhaps something had removed them before now.

Felix follow in right behind Indy swing is pack over his shoulder as they went down the loading ramp of her ship. he silent while she greeted the others. His attention was captured by the Mandalorian, Felix was quite obviously staring at the man, looking over his equipment and armour, he had read and heard about them but he had never seen one.

It didn't take long before Felix realised he was staring and redirect his gaze to the cave entrance, he stared into the darkness of the cave zoning out, the longer he looked the more uneasy he felt, it was almost like he felt something as staring back at him.

He snapped back to his surroundings when Indy broke his line of sight with cave by entering it, he shook his head, "Stay focused" he whispered under his breath, chastising himself. before taking out a torch from his bag and following behind the two knights.

when he reached the drop he jumped with Rand, his foot landing on something that coated part of the floor near, raising his foot and bring his torchlight to bear on it. some weird gunk covered the bottom of his boots "Are we sure there isn't anything living in this cave?" He spoke out in a slightly worried tone.

Ahead of the group, after Indy started leading the way, zoomed the two droids Roland brought. They were directed to scout, record and return if they found anything. Being underground, there was a chance they would not be able to remotely communicate.

Unlike all the saber jockies, Roland didn't have a remote affinity for the Force. The weather was due to change, there was dangerous terrain, some one or something that was likely powerful and in turn dangerous somewhere in one of these caves. <I should probably think of this like spelunking, but with blasters> Roland thought to himself. His vsiro panned across the others in the group. Hannibal had joined them which earned him a nodfrom the Lieutenant. <...and lightsabers>

The brief that Indy had provided made Roland look down and visually confirm his equipment was either water proof or in a sealed container. He had traveled to Jabiim once to track a fugitive and that had been one of the most intense rain storms the Mandalorian had experienced. That didn't mean he was going to enjoy a roaring storm even if it was easier than Jabiim. The Pantoran Jedi knew subterranean adventures were not Roland's preference.

Roland followed after Talak since he led with light into the tunnel. Roland stared for a bit at the man in front of his or rather the weapon he used to light the way. While the Jedi took the lead, Roland's eyes looked toward Indy even though he knew she would know he was looking towards her. She had purified the lightsaber he had taken from the Sith at the battle of Coruscant prison. hm he gave a short murmur and stored the thought away for later.

Coming in at the rear of the guard Roland dropped down, giving a short burst of his jetboots to slow the descent at the last second and continue walking. "We'll soon be below sea level." He stated as an observation. Indyana's concern was warranted. The walls of the cave and the ground itself were regularly submerged to the point that lines and different markings for water levels were visible. Roland kept an eye on the pools to see if they started growing. Pulling back his hood, he also wanted to feel the plinking of any overhead water. There was still no report or return of his two droids, yet.

"Might just be sea debris" He answered Felix. Kelp, weeds and parts of dead animals to the point where they were bits of bone and sludge were in piles after the drop off. It wouldn't surprise him if creatures entered the cave during a storm and couldn't get out

Hannibal wasn't shy about throwing Indy a cheeky smile and a wave and offered the armored mandalorian a little wave of his own. He mostly knew the man from chance meeting here and there, including once as a 'bounty hunter', but he'd taken down a Sith at the prison so there was some respect to to the gesture. The Padawan was one Hannibal didn't think he'd seen before, but in fairness, half the Order wouldn't recognize the young Master outside of his flashy robes. Which suited him just fine, all told.

Internally he had to admit the idea of an artifact older than the Order was most interesting. Hannibal wasn't more than an amateur historian, but reading the echoes of ancient objects could give one insight into the past that would otherwise be lost. Or so the council insisted when they had him touch old things in his spare time.

When the group got moving Hannibal kept to the back with Roland. He trusted his sense of intuition to offer warning of any danger and he could probably react well from there. Importantly, he also trusted Talak taking up the front. The guy seemed to generally know what he was doing, and this place was giving Hannibal some creepy vibes. Something was off, just a little, and the young Jedi didn't much like it.

Already assured that his equipment was waterproofed he slipped smoothly down into the caves behind the others, the soft thud of leather boots on stone echoing throughout. He immediately found he disliked how smooth everything was. It was the sort of thing that could be natural but could just as easily be sentient made for some purpose or other. Talak was correct, old temples always seemed to have old tricks and traps to keep people out. He quietly snapped a gloved hand and made a circle-type motion with a finger and Ego, following behind, sped further forward and began an active scan of the areas around the group. As much as Hannibal trusted in the Force, it didn't hurt to have a second opinion from a bit of trusty technology.

A silver-plated lightsaber slipped its way into his left hand off a clip, just in case, though it remained off for the time being, idly tapping against his thigh as they moved along. He was absolutely sure this was going to be less simple than a bit of cave exploring. It was never simple with ancient Jedi.

"What sort of thing are we looking for, exactly?" he asked in Indy's general direction. Knowing what a thing was tended to help him find it, so he figured he might as well see if she knew anything.

The drop off was hard, but with bending her knees slightly and letting out her breath in a huff she was able to bear the fall better. The smell of rot and decay was muddied by the saltwater in shallow pools beneath; the cave descended further inwards, and she too lit her lightsaber, careful to keep it out of harm's way and act as another source of light. "Stay behind," she ordered Felix, glancing at him solemnly.

So it seemed like Hannibal knew this other Jedi, Talak Rand. She only knew him by a few mentions, and little else. There was talk he was also involved in the Prison event, like Hans and Roland. In a sense, she wished she was there somehow to help her fellow Jedi, but her thoughts were dragged away from that by Hans' question.

"There were rumors that the First Blade was in a crystal-laden planet," she commented quietly, still stepping forward. "At first, it was thought to be Ilum, prior to the First Order. And then, there were other reports. Based on what little we could gather from the native populace... this seems the most likely place to begin searching."

Truth be told, she had been grateful for the number. Ancient Jedi did love their tricks.

Almost as soon as that thought was formed, there was a sound from the deep. The softest thud.

From those that would send droids, they would be assaulted with reports of a strange machine coming their way. And when Hannibal would keep up with their group...

The lip of the sudden drop to the cave pulled up, slamming the only exit out from the group with a solid boom. If any would look up at the sudden door and were familiar with history, they would notice a familiar symbol carved into the ancient stone. But now there was definitely something coming their way, and it was coming in fast.

For those who could see, a singular ring of an eye burned in the darkness, before it lunged for the closest opponent in its' path, Talak Rand, an antiquated vibroknife integrated into its' upper left limb. And more footsteps were coming, of the same strange light, metallic tread.

Talak continued looking around, his boots sticking in the sludge as he moved. He heard Roland state that it could have been simply from the sea, but Talak couldn't shake the nagging feeling in his mind.

Or it could not, he added grimly. The Ranger certainly may have been right, and Talak hoped that he was... but he wasn't sure he could say he was counting on it.

A chill traveled down Talak's spine. It was a familiar chill that indicated danger was incoming. The sounds came a moment later, and then a single eye.

It lunged at Talak, and he leapt back as the blade traveled past where he had been a moment before. He swept his saber down and it slammed into the arm, batting it aside but not cutting through. Of course in an era where Jedi clashed against Sith... of course their guardians would be resistant to a lightsaber. Of course. How typical...

Form up! And don't hit one another! he said, moving closer to the rest of the group to allow them to cover one another. Yet lightsabers were indiscriminate weapons that would cut anyone who wasn't careful. Or an unsuspecting ally. Fine, so Talak wasn't the most trusting person. He never would be.

Felix nodded at Indy's order staying at the back of the group, It was probably the safest place to be at the moment so he wouldn't argue. He heard a grinding sound behind him from the ledge above he turned to look up as ledge they had jumped from was now closing.

"uhm guys, I think we-" he said before pausing at seeing the glowing singular ring of an eye, his breathing became quick and shallow as his nervous hands closed on his lightsaber, where he struggled for a second to unclasp it. breath, in... and out. you can do this.

He activated his lightsaber, an orange glow illuminated his face and he assumed a defensive position with everybody ahead of him, he didn't expect to fight except defect maybe a stray blaster bolt.

+Active droids ahead+ The seeker droid reported. Roland face tightened as he wondered if they were battle droids or just some wayward scrap metal. The sound and the sensation of the door shutting behind him made him turn to look at it. Roland didn't need the Force to know that was an ill omen.

The others were still for a moment and in that, Roland felt the ground give ever subtle vibrations of numerous feet hitting and raising off the cave floor somewhere else further down it. The man sighed. "oya." he muttered to himself and brought his blaster a little higher but kept it pointing down. The Mandalorian was at the back of the group anyways and wouldn't have a good shot on the strange approaching machine. Instead he quickly shifted to low light night vision. If they were droids then they wouldn't give clear signatures like most organics did.

Roland saw in time the cyclopean attacker lung at Talak between the people ahead in time. His eyes moving to look past the machine. The nervous voice of the padwan near him and the clear inexperience compared to the others made the man look at Felix. . If he needed direction, hopefully he now had it. Otherwise Roland just hoped the kid didn't accidentally slice him with his lightsaber. Both of his gloved hands held a firm grip on his westar heavy blaster, sighted down the sidearm and fired a carefully taken shot into the droid singular obvious eye. If the droid's body was tough, usually the photoreceptors were still week spots on any droid. At the minimum it hopefully blinded the automaton defense system.

Quietly and to himself, Hannibal wondered if someone was going to pick up that phone. Because he absolutely called it. Hannibal's sense of intuition snapped his gaze to the glowing photoreceptor a moment before it revealed himself, and like switch flipping the young Jedi went from cheery to ready to fight. He had the good sense not to activate his lightsaber for the moment in the close quarters, merely keeping it ready, though he also flipped a swift on the hilt so that should he decide to use it, the blade would be at standard shoto length.

The Force rushed into and through him as the Jedi Master focused, and then outwards along his outstretched right hand toward the attacking droid. While using the Force in to disrupt its circuitry could potentially work he was obviously unfamiliar with this ancient model and it would take time. An electrical attack might do the trick, but he wasn't confident enough yet with such things at a distance. So he went with a tried and true classic instead.

A telekinetic grip locked itself around the strange droid's neck with the intent of keeping it exactly where it was. Although the rest of the droid could move, if Hannibal had a grip around its neck he could hypothetically drag it anywhere he wanted. Most importantly however, someone could damage the unarmored eye of the machine without it ducking out of the way, although the difficulty of fighting without being able to move one's neck from a given spot couldn't be understated.

It would seem that, with Talak's defensive batting away, Grayza's immobilization and Roland's shot neutralized the droid with a swift, armed singularity that would have impressed any master previous, but their grief wasn't over yet. More singular eyes appeared in the dark; three more. Just as Hannibal would have had to start releasing the first fallen companion, another took its' place, lunging another antiquated blade towards his ribs from the left, the right moving forward as though to both block any lightsaber attack to its' cortosis weave form plates and aim a punch for the Jedi's throat.

The second one would instead make its' way towards the threat that seemed least aggressive; Knight Sati herself. Unlike its' first two brethren, this one was without blades, but the air hummed with its' first swing towards her midsection, the other coming from the other direction as though to hit both sides at ones. The palms seemed to generate some sort of antiquated shock glove technology; she stepped back, the first jab swinging past with an almost angry buzz.

The last, however, would continue to charge ahead, towards Talak, Roland, and the boy, also armed with stun boxing mechanisms.

After all, only the worthy could fight their way in to the possible treasures that laid in wait.

More enemies appeared in the darkness, which was never good news. In its own way, it was quite creepy. Even in the glow of the various lightsabers and blaster shots, the cave was dark. Talak was acutely aware of everything around him. The sound of his boots shifting in the puddles below, the movements of his allies, the positioning of his own blade. A Jedi didn't need eyes.

He let the Force flow freely through him, guiding each one of his movements as the enemies attacked.

Someone go past them. Look for a deactivating switch, he said, darting forward and throwing a couple of simple cuts that had little intention of landing. They were primarily a distraction as he parried the blows of the enemies and drew some of their attention away.

With luck at least one other person would help him in the fight, but hopefully one or two of the gathered fighters could break through as well. Or they might all die down here too. That was a possibility .

Felix took a second to process Talak's suggestion, he certainly wasn't the shortest or the lithe person, but he was the only that didn't engage that could make it through the corridor of lightsabers and droids mostly unscathed and he knew a bit droids and their workings.

he deactivated his lightsaber, exhaling as he began to move past the Mandalorian at jogging pace before bobbing and weaving through melee with little to no problems. The droids seemed focused on the other three they were engaging and his training certainly helped with this.

Unclipping right-angle-head flashlight from his began to search the darkness of the hall ahead for some sort of control console or something that would make sense, he kept his deactivated lightsaber in his hand for he didn't if that was all the droids or if something else was lurking in this derelict and dilapidated wreck of a ship.

As each one came into view, Roland would target the closest one's photoreceptor and rinse and repeat. More were coming in fast but he heard Talak yell over the din of humming weapons and sparking impacts. The one that came towards him though at the closest came in with a swing. Roland ducked and stepped back from where he had still stood since the droid had last seen him. He fired a few more times pointlessly and knew that if his heavy blaster wasn't going to be effective against their chasis. Dank Ferrik

Grabbed its midsection and straightened his legs out behind him where they found the wall he had been backed up again. Seeing just enough of a window, the Mandalorian used the cortosis body of the droid as a shield and jetted towards the front of the group and likely knocking into one or two of the other droids in the process. He hoped the ground was not ferrous and the droids didn't have magboots, otherwise this was going to be terrible.

Jetboots are normally good for a single individual and less so when not calibrated to additional weight. Sufficed to say, the Lieutenant ended up on the ground much like the blinded archaic mechanic pugilist beside him. His jetboots sputtering as one slammed against the ground as the Mandalorian tried recover.

Getting back to his feet, Roland would hear Talak's suggestion. But there were still more droid's ahead. Dragging one booted foot out to a more secured stance. Once again reaching for the lightsaber hilt. He may have brought a blaster to a blade fight. "Hope that kid knows what they're doing." He commented mostly to himself.
