There was something to be said about sitting in the chair of another whose life one had usurped. Hers was only a simple ship, with simple things alongside a healthy bounty pay out courtesy of the Corporate lads in the North. But that wasn't much money in the grand scheme of things, nor did it change her station, but it was a step in the right direction.

A direction she was determined to make great strides in.

Having made her way to Nar Shaddaa on the lookout for someone with a particular talent, one name came to mind, according to the few she spoke to. A simple message passed along would give her a burner number to text from her own, resulting in a strange set of circumstances transpiring.

>Hey, I heard you're in town and can get some paperwork adjusted for me.
>I'll be at the Belching Gammorean Saloon till late

What she didn't realise was that she'd already met this 'Kodi' once before, where they'd both worked together and to this day had not exchanged names beyond nicknames they made up on the spot.

Sitting at a table in the corner by herself in the busy saloon, a fresh tea brewed recently in one hand and a datapad in another, she was shock as anything when the familar face appeared. "Patchy?" She exclaimed, before putting it together. "Or should I say Kodi. Nice to finally meet you, I hope things have been well for you since we...well, whatever that was." It should have, considering he ended up with an extremely valuable artifact from her efforts, and all she needed in return was a ride home.

Suffice to say, one could say he owed her. From a certain point of view, at least.

He was moving up in the world, especially within the ranks of Crimson Dawn. He and his pirate crew were making headlines and his networks ran deep. Unlike their last meeting, she would notice that as soon as he strutted in, various others recognized him. There were hushed whispers here and a few people glanced over to not just him, but to her as well.

The Fiani rounded the corner and almost did a double take. Was that..? He squinted briefly until she used that ridiculous name for him again. A lopsided grin featured on his face as he pulled up a chair and sat down in front of her.

“Sup Cherry,” Kai said with a jut of his chin, his gaze flicking up and down, “Though you look more like Sun-dried Tomato right now,” He stated flatly. Even during their limited interaction, neither had filters around one another and there was no reason to start now. Kai snapped his fingers to bring a server droid over.

“What’re you having?” He asked after he gave his own drink order.

The familiar face hadn't lost his familiar charm, it seemed, as she broached a smile. "A herbal tea." She answered flatly. "These numbers are giving me a migraine, but it seems to be helping."

Picking up the mug in one hand, she slowly took a sip of the steaming drink. "Don't worry, no spooky demons this time, only me." The humorous moment refreshed in her mind, although the tumble that followed was less so.

"Business seems to have done you well, judging by the impression you made walking in." It was hard to miss such things, but it also confirmed she had come to the right person. "So I shall not waste your time."

Sliding a data pad across the table, she remained still. "I need a marriage certificate filed with an assumed name, suitably predating the death certificate that follows for the assumed names. Then an estate transfer following the untimely death of my dearest beloved."

Placing the mug down on the coaster, she continued. "Do you know someone who could do such a thing?"

While most people would have asked a lot of questions, Kai was a professional. He could tell she was here strictly for business and he would honor that. His gaze panned over the information on the datapad, “The paperwork can be done easily enough. The estate transfer will need a lawyer if you want it to look authentic. I can find someone if you don’t have someone in mind.”

It was going to be a lot of work, but he had connections that could forge most of it. He couldn’t help but wonder about the story behind this. However, he had enough problems in his life as a pirate to worry about others.

“How do you plan on paying me?” He asked the most important question on his mind, “I won’t scalp you, but I don’t work for free. You understand,” Kai flashed her a fanged grin.

The pureblood woman nodded as he spoke. "Thanks p..Kodi. A lawyer would be great." She corrected herself. Fortunately she wasn't entirely skint after the bounty collection, but she'd be in a much better position to pay him afterward.

"The lightsaber.." Her voice held low. "Wasn't enough of a score to still use?" A small laugh escaped her lips. "Fine, how about a 10,000 credit transfer as a deposit followed by 20% of the insurance pay out as a thank you." Granted she'd not be easily access the money without his help, but a girl had bills to pay. And she couldn't only think of her own needs, now that things had changed.

Kai’s face remained unchanged as she quipped about the lightsaber. He had come a long way since, and they both knew it. He nodded at the deposit, “Good on the deposit, but 30% on the insurance payout since I have to provide the lawyer,” Kai said, “If you want this to look clean, you’re going to have to part with more credits.”

He took a sip of his drink, surveying her for a moment. He reached into his pocket and slid over a burner comlink for her, “I will contact you after your deposit comes through.”

The negotiation was swift but effective, as Kodi laid out his terms. Nevi, in turn, simply nodded at his adjustment and a few drinks later they parted ways.

--

A few days went by in a blur as the Sith Pureblood enjoyed the scene of Nar Shaddaa, and it's wicked ways. It wasn't a world she'd spend enough time on, clearly. But a day in a club here, a casino there meant she came back a few thousand short already. Gambling the rest of her hard-earned credits didn't seem wise, and thus she high-tailed it out of there before she got into serious trouble.

The paperwork came through as promised, the deposit having been a painful loss in its own right. Still, the insurance payout would more than make up for any losses she'd incurred. Given his noble status on Naboo and the wealth he'd accumulated, she expected a decent amount, but was wholly unprepared to see so many zeroes appear in her account.

>Pleasure doing business with you, Kodi.
>Stay in touch.
