ARLA'S KYBER STAFF

LM2hykF.png
"You would not part an old man from his walking stick."

Kyber staffs are weapons rarely seen today and are often considered to be either ancient relicts of the past or used by only niche and archaic sects of Force users. Although rarely seen anymore, kyber staffs still have many uses for those who take the time to hunt one down or craft one themselves. Set with a kyber crystal like a lightsaber, when in the hand of a trained Force-user, the staff has the properties as if constantly, passively being imbued with Force weapon (please note, it does not have these properties in the hands of a non-Force-user).

The role of the weapon - besides obvious uses like blocking lightsabers or blasters - was to assist the wielder in channeling the Force around them. Like a lightsaber, the kyber in the staff acted to channel and focus the Force around the user and allowed them to use it as a focusing point for the casting of spells - in the case of arcane sects like the Nightsisters - or the manipulation of the Force in offensive and defensive manners.

To this end, while the staff did not deepen a Force-user's reserves, it did slightly decrease the focus required to cast and channel Force abilities. It could be used as focal point for shooting many offensive powers such as lightning as well, but all of these came at the cost of the diversity that lightsabers offered. While it was capable of resisting blaster shots and sabers, it was unable to accurately deflect blaster shots like a lightsaber could or cut through solid objects the way that a lightsaber can.

It's also a neat walking stick, so that's pretty cool, too, and allows for slightly more incognito carry in certain places.

Intent
This is a piece of site lore for Arla as I intend for her to find one of these in coming threads. It is based on the old lore from site canon that I decided to pull out because Arla is more of an unusual Force-user than many Jedi or Sith. It is a weapon specifically geared toward a character who makes far less use of a lightsaber than normal individuals and acts as a means of expanding Force-focused character arcs.
