Adumar grew larger and filled more of the Tac-Pod's front windows. Inside the vehicle, standing behind the Kaleesh pilot stood Maan Vizsla, a cyborg consisting mostly of metal and synthetic prosthesis. The rest of the vehicle was filled with well armed Kalleesh warriors. Two other similar vehicles flew alongside and carried their compliment of similar warriors. They quickly left the Apex Contractor Corporate Personnel Carrier behind. Two of the large ship's Tac-Pods would remain in reserve along with more than the minimal crew needed to properly run the starship.

The contractors had a clear job, overtake the central communication dish by any means necessary. However in Maan's artificial eyes, they did not need to throw everything they had at the enemy's position. Thus only some of the visiting Apex Contractors were actually going to be assaulting the dish. A smaller team would be easier to get by without drawing attention. Maan was not looking to tangle with the planet's starfighter aces and would rather face any foes on the ground.

In fact, it was during this window that some of Catann's starfighters were preoccupied with repairs after a recent skirmish with Yedagon defenses. They would not be available to scramble starfighters to the listening outpost. But that did not mean the communication dish was not without its degree of security. It would be only a moment before the Tac-Pod's landed. Maan could feel the ship decelerating rapidly.

The hiss and wirr of mechanisms in the Tac-Pod's door sounded and the Kaleesh warriors exited with blaster and weapons in hand. The assault on the Catann communication central command had begun. The cyborg's voice was notably vocabulated like a droid as it ordered to the soldiers of fortune under his command. But it was no less menacing. "No survivors."

Maan Vizsla and his squad of Kaleesh warriors were just beyond their Tac-Pods when one of them was hit by an anti-vehicle rifle. It fired again, permanently grounding one of the vehicles the contractors had previously occupied. Smoke rose from the transport but the other two rapidly spun their engines back up and would took off.

"Take out that weapon!" The cyborg's voice was ruthless and pointed with a synthetic limb in the direction where the two super-heavy bolts had come from. The kaleesh contractors did not hesitate and began to move over the rocky landscape towards the mossy outrcropping. The silouhettes of two figures indicated they were retreating or repositioning.

After about a hundred meters the Apex contractors in the lead would narrowly avoid a blaster bolt to their mask. A dozen armored Adumar guards sporting DH-47 blaster carbines were nervously holding their position. The Kaleesh warriors and Maan returned fire immediately.

"Fall back!" One of the guards said that was holding a blastsword, likely an officer. The glowing red gaze of the trandoshan cyborg looked over a boulder and saw three treadspeeder bikes with Adumar livery.

Blaster bolts pinged off of the rock and ground as the firefight continued. Maan's fists clenched and the rocket tube on his shoulder made a clicking noise. Next a cloud of smoke and a woosh would signal the firing of the missile. It streaked up and then dove down, slamming into the central treadspeeder, destroying it in a ball of fire. The other two vehicles on either side were heavily damaged and sent rolling onto their sides. Now they guards would not be able to run away.

Vyr had managed to land another job as a subcontractor for Apex. He had worked with a droid called Naxa to take out a mark, on that occasion. The credits were good on that job, so this job seemed like a good bet.

Capture a communication dish. Sounded straight forward on paper. Of course, it wouldn’t be.

He felt somewhat out of place in the Tac-Pod, surrounded by burly Kaleesh warrior. He had his armour on. Even if he had shunned his Mandalorian roots for the most part, he knew the respect the armour could still command. Given the prospect of fierce fighting, he carried his carbine along with his two pistols which he kept holstered at his side.

The one in charge was some sort of cyborg. Large. Nasty looking. Best not to upset them.

When the pod landed, he charged out along with the Kaleesh warriors. Blaster fired fizzed through the air, seemingly from all angles. Vyr kept his composure and opened fire on the enemy position. As quickly as they had landed, one of the Pods was taken out.

The advance continued and the enemy began to fall back. Vyr expertly picked off defenders as he moved forwards. They were well equipped though. There was still a lot more work to do.

As it would turn out Maan was not the only Mandalorian who was hired through Apex for this job. He almost told Vyr to go over them. He might take too much fire then. But the Vizsla clan member was standing by cover as blaster bolts pinged off the rock. He would be a hypocrite if he lead from the back.

"RRAAAHH!" His artificial voice modulator rose in volume and strained to vocalize the aggression in the cyborg trandoshan spirit. His figure ran out of cover, firing his bowcaster with both hands from the hip. The tremendous recoil would have made the maneuver impossible for some humanoids since it normally took the might and mass of a Wookiee or equivalent to wield properly.

The bowcaster went empty leading to Maan releasing his hold of the weapon and allowing it to fall and hang thanks to its sling. The contract killer closed the distance and drawing a great deal of fire in the process. Maan only took out two of the guards with his ranged weapon but by the time it was empty he was already climbing the hill and making the Adumar defenders start to panic. One of the guards was either lucky or a decent marksman because they landed a glancing blow on his left shoulder and partially damaging his connection to the CZ-114 rocket launcher sharing the shoulder. But it hardly mattered if they encountered heavily armored or airborne targets the contractor, at least that is the way it seemed in the moment as the cyborg did not lose an ounce of momentum.

One individual however was Maan's target. The one wielding the blastsword saw the charging cyborg and directed his forces attention. Both of Maan's arms were out and behind him as he ran forward, they twitched and extending on either side of him were the twin acklay blades that had been previously housed inside the man's forearms. One blade came up to meet the blastsword and resulting in the iconic sound of a blaster discharge along with a sparking affect. However the officer was not prepared for the follow up strike that sliced his sword wielding hand off at the wrist. Maan was a whirling dervish and in the blink of an eye the officer was sliced to ribbons. The rest of the defenders were not eager to be a victim of the same fate though the advancing contractors behind Maan would give them an alternate means of death soon enough. The cyborg rose with his front half spattered with blood and looked for new meat.

Continuing to move forward, Vyr spotted the hulking cyborg charge from cover. They quickly closed the gap on the enemy and drew much of their fire. Sensing the opportunity, Vyr followed in their wake. The defenders had been left uncoordinated by the attack. Charging towards them, he gunned down two as they turned back in his direction. A third was shot down before they could get off an accurate shot. The other defenders were quickly set upon by advancing Kaleesh warriors.

Spotting a group of enemies retreating in the distance, he aimed his wrist gauntlet in their direction. Steadying himself, he fired the small rocket straight towards the centre of the group. The rocket’s impact caused a large explosion. Some of the intended targets were engulfed in the explosion. The more fortunate ones were sent flying by the force of the blast.

The defenders were on the run and the Kaleesh warriors smelt blood. Activating his jet pack, he flew over the Kaleesh warriors and began to rain down blaster fire on the enemy.

The cyborg watched as the first line of defense were cut down and shot as they retreated. The two acklay blades dripped with blood onto the corpse underneath Maan’s foot. Swinging the two weapon implants the residual life fluid was thrown from the blade. The cyborg resheathed both of their arm blades and connected his commlink to the Apex Corporate Personnel Carrier.

“We have secured a beachhead. Moving on the objective now. Send reinforcements for mop up, and bring my jumpspeeders.” The Trandoshan knew that it was unnecessary but it could help to have additional bodies in the vicinity. There were only two functioning Tac-Pods but that would be enough to offload at least twelve remaining Kaleesh warriors.

Blaster bolts flew through the air, chasing the few living cowards or executing wounded enemies. But soon Adumar seemed to return to a strange silence as the fire fight ended. The Apex contractors would have a few moments to catch their breath and then get close to the Catann faction’s communication dish.

Maan knew that there were more reinforcements coming for their own but he was not slowing down or heading back. This was just a momentary chance to catch their breath and triage any injuries. Two Kaleesh had sustained damage but were still alive. The Cyborg re-examined the damage he had sustained and then looked back up the incline towards the communication dish.

“There will be more of them. If they are anything like these meatbags then they don’t have long to live.” He said aloud for the Kaleesh and Mandalorian to hear. This buffer in the assault would give them time to make a plan of approach. The Trandoshan cyborg used his artificial optics to scan his surroundings, looking for a sign of a bold ambush. The anti-vehicle rifle sniper team was still out there but may have fallen back to the dish. Either way, the Vizsla wanted their weapon.

Vyr continued to pelt the retreating enemies with blaster fire. Even thinning out their numbers a little bit more could be useful for the final push to take the communication dish. Gradually they moved further away until they were out of range. Vyr didn’t want to waste too much fuel from his jet pack, so he descended to the ground as the defenders fled.

He could use the brief reprieve from fighting to get some rest. It surely wouldn’t be long before they were on the move again.

You’ve got that right,” he replied to the cyborg. The Kaleesh seemed to keep to themselves. Usually, he would have done the same. However, he decided to approach the cyborg leading the assault.

So, have an idea for how we’re going to advance on them,” he asked.

The two undamaged Tac-Pods flew towards the so-called "beachhead" and emptied their contents of kaleesh contractors. They were fresh and ready to fight. The two injured Kaleesh did not board the vehicles but remained present, intent on staying to fight as needed.

The two craft also each carried a jumpspeeder. Both of them belonged to Maan Vizsla and were modified to fit the Cyborg's needs. Unlike Vyr, Maan did not have a jetpack. When asked about his plan, the Trandoshan wiped a bloody hand on a spare cloth and pointed at the bikes. "A fast approach with two bikes first. We'll break their perimeter defenses or draw them to the north side of the structure. The other contractors will be able to move in and have a better chance at breaching the building." There were a lot of variables and the plan could go wrong but Maan was not one to remain idle or leave things up to speculation.

There were two bikes but both of them different. The mostly mechanical contractor swung a leg over the steat of his Buffalo jumpspeeder, leaving the Locust for either Vyr or a Kaleesh contractor. Vyr had his jetpack and could perhaps traverse the terrain better than any of them. But Maan knew that jetpacks were not the end-all-be-all mode of transport even if it was fun and iconic.

Sitting in the back of the tac-pod was an odd sensation to Atuu. Maybe the Apex team he nearly scuffled with over Ossus hadn't been able to finger him as the pilot on the other side of the fight... Maybe Apex didn't give a damn. Who knows.

What Atuu did know though, was that this was going to be one heck of a fight,

Stepping out from the pod, Atuu would accompany the speeder bikes forward and wait as the contractor in charge directed the fresh troops.
"Aye, I'll join you on the bike if you think my vod ver'verd can handle running with the troops on the ground." Atuu offered, unsure of how this man chose to lead and if his suggestion would be taken well or at all.

After all, Atuu himself was just another ver'verd - mercenary today.

Sporting his
"heavy" set of armor - all that was different was his attached gadgets and additional plates. Atuu would still catch himself marveling at the wonders of modular armor. His carbine, pistols, demo and gauntlet all present on his person as he straddled the bike. "On your lead Sir." Atuu offered to the cybernetic leader, unless he would protest. @Darasuum

Other apex operators call in to report the shield generator was down. But rather than destroying the communication array the rest of them still needed to take the facility rather than destroy it. The cyborg grumbled to himself but was glad to have the industrial deflectors out of play. Now their repulsor vehicles could get close.

A kaleesh warrior would take the handles of the Locust jump speeder. "The rest will follow." He answered Atuu simply with a nod. Vyr Zenos would use his jetpack and remain airborne on approach but Atuu Skirata would be able to sit as a passenger on the kaleesh piloted speeder bike until they got closer and launcher from there. Maan on the other hand lacked a jetpack and would ride his bike all the way to the front line. In short, they would break the Adumar line with four warriors.

"Let's move! Oya!" He cast a hand towards the building in the distance they were charged with taking. The numerous apex contractors gave a rousing cheer before moving into action. The first skirmish had already been won and they just needed a second strike to take the Catann forces.

The howl of Maan's bike echoed up the hills and bluffs of Adumar's surface. He came along the northside and began firing his two medium blaster cannons just as planned. Perimeter guards dove for cover and tried to return fire at the high speed contractor. The kaleesh driver acted similarly but also triggered the signal jammer on their back, limiting the communications between the local defenders.

A well placed shot from Maan hit a panel beside the garage door leading to an underground motor pool. The cyborg did not hesitate for a moment and swerved to drive into the depths of the structure. The vehicle slowed just enough to zoom through the tunnel of the subterranean military parking garage. But a few of the guards were waiting for him.

He braked briefly before leaping off of the bike acrobatically despite his mostly metallic construction. The bike was over four meters longer and would clotheslines three guards standing side by side and taking them out instantly. Maan had arrived at his destination and the bike had served its purpose.

Taking his seat as the passenger on the bike, Atuu would activate his jetpack in standby mode, ready to launch but essentially idling for the time being.

As the four departed, Atuu kept an eye on the sky as their compatriot flew overhead dealing with what he assumed to be defenders. He couldn't see yet, but as the two bikes made their approach, Atuu would take stock of their target. Smacking the driver on the shoulder twice as he activated his jetpack and launched into the air. Following Maan closely as the other bike broke off to harass the defenses elsewhere.

Flying off of Maan's right side Attu would fire at the exterior guards who meant to pick himself and Maan off. Connecting a shot with center mass on one and hitting another in the shoulder as they approached and then passed them. Observing the bikes blaster cannon open the door to the garage, Atuu would slow his forward momentum. Adding some distance between he and Maan as he watched the cyborg dismount and send his bike into the defenders.

Dropping to the ground and deactivating his jetpack Atuu would jog up to meet Maan in the garage. Taking cover behind some piece of equipment present and scanning for any additional defenders, hoping to catch them at an advantage if or when they showed. @Darasuum

Maan was glad to have sufficient warriors assisting him. The roar of Atuu's jetpack gave him his general position. The Skirata kept up, joining the cyborg inside the structure as the rest of the contractors charged towards the breach. But the two mandalorians would be the vanguard penetrating the facility.

The Apex contractor walked into cover as a blaster bolt barely missed him from a valiant defender. Using a single hand, Maan disconnected their R-799 micro missile gun from its holstered place on his chasis. Peaking out from cover the mostly mechanical monster leveled its frewshly drawn weapon and fired. The weapon was silent until the explosive rounds made pops like wine corks shooting out of a bottle. The Adumari defender was blasted by a small explosion and killed instantly.

The cyborg continued to advance like the cold killing machine he was. He expected Atuu to continue keeping pace considering how well he had done so far. A pair of guards stood at the end of a long hallways immediatly fired at seeing the frame of Maan appear. But the trandoshan moved to the opposite side of the hallway for a blaster bolt to strike his armor plated bionic leg.

Looking down Maan knew it was superficial though there was some interference with the neural feedback. The man focused his pathways and knew he was here to achieve a singular goal. Deny the dish to the Catann forces. Maan fired around the corner blindly until his weapon was empty. The resulting barrage of explosive bullets practically shredded the two guards.

"That's the control room." He told Atuu as he left cover. The cyborg marched down the hallway toward the door. He did not rush, instead taking the time to reload the micromissile gun. They would likely have a few guards inside or perhaps a few desparate civilians. Whatever the case it would not be enough. His heavy body made loud thuds with each step. The echo reverberated down the hallway and was great enough to be heard by those on the other side of the door. Demagol had come for them.

Keeping behind Maan, Attu would stay off to his right. Firing at enemies who unfortunately for themselves, made easier targets than the pair of Mandalorians.

With a blaster bolt or two bouncing off of his heavy armor Atuu took cover opposite Maan and watched as the micro missile gun went to work. Thinking to himself that one of those should be his next purchase. Atuu would emerge and begin down the hallway toward the door at a light jog.

"Control Room. Check." He replied to Maan, dropping down to a knee and popping off the access panel Atuu would begin splicing and working to get the door open. "Working on it..." Then he would shock himself and with a quick surprised yelp he would stand and fire several shots into the panel. After a few moments the door would begin to slide open and Atuu would look over his shoulder to Maan he would give him a thumbs up.

Rolling around cover and through the door Atuu would extend the gauntlet based shield as a flurry of fire came in. A pair of bolts scorching the shield from a pistol as Atuu would crack the defender in front of him with the shield before shooting several rounds into him as he was off center. Turning then to address another shooter who put a bolt into his back. With some anger Atuu would spin dropping to a knee to be fully covered and would empty the rest of his blaster pistols magazine in the defenders direction.

"Two down." He called out over the comm.

Maan completed his reloading of his weapon by the time he arrived at the door. Smoke was still exiting the barrel's mouth as he waited for Atuu to finish opening the room. The cold blooded trandoshan cyborg tried to think of a faster and more violent way to breach the next room but his avenues were limited so he waited.

The Skirata clan member was successful in the end and likely caused the doors to revert to an emergency opening override. Results were good and it also meant Maan would not have to worry about slicing into the facility. He enjoyed his butchery of the enemy a lot more when he did not need to switch gears.

It was not as fast of an opening of the doors as normal but it would do. As soon as the crack was wide enough, Maan stuck his arm through and fired at one of the guards on the far side of the room. The hulking cyborg went high as his counter part went low. Another trigger pull resulted in a second guard losing their head in a bloody explosion.

Maan strode into the room with his weapon leveled at another person who looked to be a civilian. Most likely they were a technician who worked at the communication dish but was not a member of the military. They held up their hands and seemed to be the last one standing. "Please don't shoot." They pleaded with flecks of blood on their attire and face. The Vizsla's emotionless visage was incapable of expressing emotion much to the dismay of the technician. They would find no empathy or sympathy visible anywhere on the pyschopath.

Either it was all a ruse or they lost their nerve. The civilian leapt for one of the pistols of the dead Catann soldiers. But Maan shot them before they even made half way. They died almost instantly, leaving the control room in relative silence. The echos of the kaleesh contractors making progress were eventually heard. Apex now had control of the facility and would be getting a nice paycheck for this. Whether they wanted to hold it in the long run or demolish it was up to their client.
