Hello all!
I want to be promoted. Who doesn't? But I have some problems...

1. Complete a minimum of three Sith missions.
2. Complete a minimum of five Sith training threads of any type (personal, one-on-one, class).
3. Complete and survive a minimum of three duels.

Well...
1. Is this just a normal thread? Does it mean a main thread for the Sith? Info needed.
2. Personal Training? Never heard of it. Please Elaborate everyone. What's one-on-one? I feel like an idiot.
3. Does this have to be an canon duel? Can it be non-canon? How do I get in a canon duel?

Thankyou for your time, fellow Humanoids.

Missions are...missions. I suppose they can be assigned to you by a higher power, or you can sign up for them on the missions board. I'm not sure if main threads count, but I'd imagine they would.

This is just training. You can train yourself, which I doubt is very effective, or with a partner like another acolyte or a crusader, and your master of course. You can also sign up for classes.

Yes, the duels have to be Canon, I'd imagine. You can have Canon duels in the dueling ring if you'd like. I suppose you could spar with other acolytes at the temples as well.

Ask yourself why you want to be promoted. Is it because you want the title, or is it because you want to tell an interesting story? If the answer is the former, then you're going about this for the wrong ways.

1. Missions are missions. They are found here. You sign-up for a mission, wait for others to join, and then start a thread in which your characters do the mission.

2. You could work on a thread with your characters master, or sign up for a class. These are for your character to learn new force powers and lightsaber combat forms, or for your character to become better with the force powers and lightsaber combat forms he's already learned. It will take more than one thread before reaching mastery with anything. One shot threads with your character learning new stuff are discouraged.

3. You and the other writer determine if a duel is 'canon' or not, so that's how you get in a canon duel. There might be competitions that pop up, and that could help get some of the duels out of the way. I think this is pretty straight forward.

AND I'm CHEATING because I'm lazy, so I'll elaborate a little more on Frenzy's stuff.

1. Missions are missions. They are found here. You sign-up for a mission, wait for others to join, and then start a thread in which your characters do the mission.
Also, any mission-like RP that Rom or BN approve of as a sanctioned mission would count.

Personal is a solo thread where you spend time learning/practicing a power/skill. They can't be used to learn the higher-up abilities, but you can iron out some lower level powers. And a one-on-one is more Master/Apprentice-style. It's usually a teacher and a student. That said, two Apprentices could train together as well.

3. You and the other writer determine if a duel is 'canon' or not, so that's how you get in a canon duel. There might be competitions that pop up, and that could help get some of the duels out of the way. I think this is pretty straight forward.

Post in the General RP OOC area asking for someone to duel you. If the duel is posted in the story boards, it's canon. If it's done in the dueling ring, it doesn't HAVE to be, but it STILL could. That's you and your opponent's decision. But if I'm assuming correctly, the duels DO need to be canon.

A trick with duels is that they can happen at any time in really any thread, as long as there's no rules by the thread-starter against it.

One thing I'd ask is this: are you seeking a promotion for power?

It's natural for people to want more powerful characters (and that's all fine and dandy) but if you think a promotion grants your character power you'd be wrong (there have obviously been exceptions to this with characters becoming more powerful to fill in faction leadership positions, but even then... debatable).

Why do I mention this? Well those faction requirements seem pretty restrictive, requiring people to carry out a streamline set of tasks just for a promotion. That often comes at the expense of storytelling. So if you want your character to become more powerful but also want to tell a good story then I would recommend putting the idea of a promotion aside and letting it develop naturally. It is possible to be more powerful than a Sith Lord or Jedi Master and still be an Acolyte or Padawan.

Imagine if your character had done no Sith missions, but had fought countless opponents and trained in numerous threads. Maybe your character is some type that's out to prove they're the best duelist in the galaxy. I don't know? But the point is, if you were that character you wouldn't qualify for a promotion, BUT: it could still be interesting to write, and you could still dunk Sith Lords and Jedi Masters if you wanted.
