I've already decided that my 2014 New Year's Resolution is going to be for me to read one book every week. I have a general idea of the type of books I want to read, but I have not completed the list yet. Well, quite frankly, I have not began on the list yet. Kurt Vonnegut, Chuck Palahniuk, and George R.R. Martin come to mind as authors I want to continue to explore. I also want to get into some literature from the beat generation.

Have you done this before? Will you help me please? Book suggestions are very much welcome.

While I mentioned three authors above that I do very much love, I would very much like to expand the list of authors I love, so if there's an author you love feel free to let me know as well! Also, yes, I'm open to reading SW books although I prefer the bulk of the 52 to be non-SW books.

Thank you ahead of time!

Vonnegut is definitely a huge recommendation!

George Orwell, H.P. Lovecraft, Ray Bradbury (Farenheit 451), Tolkien, John Steinback, Timmothy Zahn (for SW books), H.G. Wells, Isaac Asimov...Dr. Suess for when you don't have much time certain weeks.

Right now, I'm very much digging The Dresden Files. It's Urban Fantasy. Imagine if Harry Potter grew up to be Spencer for Hire and that's basically what Harry Dresden is. He's a private investigator who operates out of downtown Chicago and he's a wizard. He fights all kinds of baddies and has some really good supporting characters. The writing is pretty sharp and witty with a nice douse of pop culture references.
