Overview

Government

Ziost's government would be classified as a very loose Stratocracy. The Warlord is in charge of everything from overall goals to daily regulations. Of course, being busy with the war and all, there are Commanders as well as Brothers and Sisters appointed to certain titles which place them in charge of various aspects of the government. Commanders are respected highest of all, save the Warlord. Any member of Ziost immediately follows the orders given by Commanders with no questions asked.

Culture

The culture on Ziost revolves purely around combat. One who is born on the planet is raised by all those around them how to fight, through formal training and informal exercises ranging from being stranded out in the wastelands to survive to being thrown into a brawl with other children. No mercy is shown to the children, for they must grow to understand strength is the greatest power of all. Those who are weak will fall and be left behind, while those who are strong will rise more powerful than ever.

Someone who arrives on Ziost wishing to join the ranks of the Sacred Band of Ziost must first complete training and several trials. Training someone who is already knowledgeable in a particular area of fighting involves honing already known skills, while training someone who is "green" (has no skills) is much more generalized until a skill set is chosen as their expertise. When the trainee is ready for the trials, which could take a few weeks or a few years depending on the person, they are thrown into a gauntlet of sorts, a distant echo of the planet's past.

The trials are vigorous and draining. Not all make it through them alive. Some choose to quit and thus never gain entrance to the Sacred Band. Those that do make it through are admitted into the ranks of the official Sacred Band of Ziost army. Members who truly distinguish themselves from the rank and file soldiers are promoted and thus respected by all as Brothers and Sisters of the band, while only a few ever achieve the revered position of Commander.

These ranks, of course along with the Warlord, are seen not only as military leaders but as the most skilled, vicious warriors and therefore the most highly respected members of the Band. The culture within the Sacred Band is that of a family, promoting a sense of unity in all things but most especially in the war effort. Members of the Band do not waste time on petty squabbling as the Lords of the Sith do. Instead they work together to achieve their goals and make their world, their people, and their conquests great again.

Technology

Ziost's technology is on par with the rest of the galaxy. For specific ships information, refer to the Sith Brotherhood Technology thread.

Places of Interest

The Great Citadel

The Great Citadel is the greatest structure upon the surface of Ziost. It is the very heart and soul of the Sacred Band of Ziost, containing quarters for all the highest ranking soldiers including private rooms for the Warlord themselves. It is a massive compound, containing one primary building that has four huge wings pointing to the four compass directions, a diamond shaped outer wall for defense (ten meters thick, thirty meters high), and several secondary buildings and cottages in the courtyards.

The interior of all buildings within the Citadel's borders are full of the history of the Sacred Band. Many of the walls and ceilings are adorned with paintings of epic battles long past or weapons used in long ago duels. Busts of some of the more well known leaders of the planet can be seen in various places, as well as personal items of theirs. There are many great halls and rooms used for training of all kinds within the Citadel. War rooms filled with maps and armories sporting crates upon crates of all manner of weapons and ammunition can be found both inside and outside the main building.

The Citadel being the center of the SBZ, it is never without ample protection. There are always plenty of soldiers on duty for the guarding of the compound. There are sentries posted along the outer wall as well as every major entrance into buildings and within the primary castle. One company of the Orbital Defense Fleet, including a Star Destroyer, several Leviathans, and numerous Ziost Hunters, is in orbit directly above the Great Citadel at all times.

The Gray Sea

Along the northeast wall of the diamond shaped outer defense wall of the Great Citadel lies the Gray Sea. An enormous crater created during the old time of the Sacred Band when the entirety of the planet was in an endless, worldwide conflict, the Gray Sea is a reminder of the past. Sheer cliffs 200 meters down mark the borders all around the 600 acre pit. Ruins of buildings long ago destroyed lay scattered along the bottom, covered in drifts of the slurry created by the ash of burning structures and forests mixed with falling snow. Not even the most die hard of soldiers dares attempt to survive in the wasteland of the Gray Sea.

New Adasta

New Adasta is the largest hub city on Ziost. It lies on the southwestern side of the Great Citadel - directly on the opposite side of the Gray Sea. Here is where the majority of the SBZ soldiers retain living quarters, as well as plenty of people not yet fully initiated into the Band. As such, there is a quite sizable space port located on the Western side of the city and a safe distance away from the Citadel. There are dozens of specially designed training facilities throughout the city, each with a specifically tailored purpose. Some are fighting dojos, some feature agility courses, some focus on space craft simulations, while others sport severe survival training environments. This city is focused on the training and honing of the soldiers' skills. Therefore there are no cantinas to speak of, intending for any active soldiers stationed there to remain at the top of their game at all times.

Delos Thek

Delos Thek is the only place on Ziost where recreational entertainment that does not involve fighting can be had. The city is located far away from New Adasta and the Great Citadel, though it can be reached easily enough via transports from that area. Here are many cantinas, brothels, and spice labs. No matter your vice, you could certainly find it here. Delos Thek is meant to be visited strictly by off duty soldiers or uninitiated that choose to spend time there. Any soldier who is supposed to be elsewhere found in the city is severely punished and oftentimes demoted. There are a fair amount of non SBZ that are permanent residents of Delos Thek, running their businesses, employed, or simply choosing to live there.

The Arena

A huge circular structure set upon the barren wastelands of the planet, the Arena is a focal point of the Sacred Band. It is a gladiatorial building, with a large circular area on the floor and in the center for battles, duels, trials, and tests. Circling the middle arena are raised balconies, hundreds of them, for spectators. The Arena is used for grand battles to the death, trials of new initiates, entertainment, tests of strength and will, as well as every day training exercises. Many hopefuls are stationed here during training before acceptance into the SBZ, being brutally taught the ways of battle and survival both within The Arena as well as outside on the frozen wasteland. Once at the end of each year a great battle consisting of dozens of hopefuls is fought, granting the two winners acceptance into the Band. It's a huge celebration for all who go to see it, one of the few holidays granted to the soldiers on Ziost.

Polar Defense Systems

Located along the equator on opposite sides of the planet, lie the Polar Defense Systems. The name "Polar" Defense Systems was put in place to confuse any enemies that may gain information about the important bases - the aim being to send those enemies to the Poles of the planet instead of along the equator where they are actually located. Each system is identical to the other and encompasses its respective half of the planet. Each is heavily manned at all times, sports surface to space missiles and also has a Star Destroyer and company in orbit above them for adequate space protection. The Defense Systems include constant monitoring of the planet's on and off planet fleets, the Communication hubs throughout the planet, and the whole of the space surrounding the planet.

Debriefing Base

The Debriefing Base is one large complex used for the briefing and debriefing of solders departing on or returning from important missions. There is a small space port on the outside of the base, a safe distance away, to allow soldiers to depart and return directly at this location. Situated a 16 hour shuttle ride away from New Adasta, the Base contains much of the secret and sensitive information of the SBZ's operations, both current and past. As such, it is heavily defended at all times by hundreds of loyal soldiers armed to the teeth, as well as being heavily fortified on the outside with laser turrets, surface to space missiles, a stationed Star Destroyer in orbit, and a troop of soldiers ready for combat. Inside the Base are temporary sleeping quarters for any needing to rest before heading back home, a medical bay for injured soldiers, a bunker deep underground holding past records, and a war room for any Commanders to use while on site. There is always at least one, if not five, Commanders on site for the handling of sensitive information coming in or going out of the Base.

Orbital Defense Fleet

The Orbital Defense Fleet rotates out as needed for the use of the SBZ's naval programs, and as such has a fluid number of ships available at any given time. There is always one Star Destroyer with a compliment of Ziost Hunters and Leviathans in orbit above key places on Ziost's surface, including the Great Citadel, New Adasta, the Debriefing Base, and both of the Polar Defense systems. In addition to these stationary fleets are six patrolling fleets, maintaining security around the whole of the planet at all times. The Orbital Defense Fleet is in constant communication with the Polar Defense Systems to ensure surveillance of Ziost is complete at all times and nothing is missed.

History

It is unknown where the first settlers of Ziost came from. It is known that the barren wastelands have held the souls of sentients for thousands of years and from the beginning these inhabitants fought each other for their very survival. There are very little real resources on the planet, so those few that would allow people to live were obviously in high demand. In order to survive, every single person who found themselves stranded on Ziost were forced to fight, murder, and steal from the others.

So it was that the warrior culture of Ziost was born. There never was any structure to the fighting, just general anarchy and chaos with the strongest claiming territory for themselves and the weakest dying in the streets. Rulers of different areas were nearly always short lived, being betrayed or usurped by someone proving stronger in a short while.

It wasn't until the second to last fall of the Sith Empire that they were united in their purpose. The Sith had been driven from their own homeworlds of Moraband and Korriban and found themselves pushed to the warrior infested planet of Ziost. Finding so many powerful warriors, many even capable of killing the force empowered Sith, the Empire set about loosely enslaving the population of the planet.

During this time, many who held faith that the Empire would one day rise again traveled to Ziost to join the ranks of the warrior band. The population of the planet nearly tripled due to this great migration of people from all walks of life. Once, a group of Jedi arrived on the planet and were shortly and completely destroyed. This conflict led to the unification of purpose for those rogues and scoundrels on Ziost, now known as the Sacred Band of Ziost, warrior slaves of the Sith. The new SBZ would fight together against the Jedi, proving that they were superior in strength to the weak minded force using Knights.

The Sacred Band joined forces with the ranks of the Sith and together they began taking back the Empire's old territory. The warriors now had purpose together and got a taste of battle on a scale never before experienced. They fought with everything they had and it helped the Empire regain much of its previously lost territory.

When the Imperial Legion rebels of Serenno, Zygerria and Ord Radama took over their home planet of Ziost, the warriors of the SBZ soon stormed back to their capital and slaughtered all of them. It was after this incident that the Warlord of the Band at the time declared himself the new leader of the Sith Empire - creating the mantle of the most powerful person of the Empire, the Supreme Leader.

When the Empire fell the last time, the SBZ was powerless to save their beloved army. They didn't have the power to do anything about it. Thus, when it did fall they liberated themselves and no longer were the slaves of the Sith. Instead they molded themselves into a fierce army of their own and are now equal to the Sith in this new Brotherhood that the Lords of the Sith and the Sacred Band of Ziost have formed together.

The warrior culture of Ziost remains stronger than ever. However, the way that the soldiers are trained is quite different from centuries past. While the SBZ is still a very loose military organization, they do have structure to their training routines and higher ranking officers who are responsible for leading troops.

The geography of Ziost remains largely the same as it always has been. The only real change is the newly built Polar Defense Systems and the Orbital Defense Fleet that they have put together since the resurgence of the Sith Brotherhood. The war going as well as it has been, thousands of new recruits arrive on the planet monthly and the population of Ziost is once again swelling - this time further than ever before.

Since the liberation of the Sacred Band, mining operations have been set up all over the planet to take what little resources they can find out of the earth. The ores and minerals gained from these operations are sent to the manufacturing facilities that coincide with each mine and turned into various types of ammunition and weapons.

Intent

My basic intent is to expand on this planet that is right smack in the middle of the Brotherhood and therefore the war effort. It is more than likely that conflicts and other missions will occur on this planet as well as other types of roleplays. I wanted to expand on locations available, outline the planet's defenses, and flesh out a basic history since all that is currently available is Legends information, which doesn't really line up with the site's lore. If possible, I would like to also keep the history of this profile up to date with any future invasions or catastrophic events that may occur.

@Black Noise @Phœnix

Let me know what you think, anything you don't agree with and want me to change, or anything you'd like me to add.

Thanks so much! Took a long while, but finally got it right I think.

Not really any percentages, I intentionally left it vague because there would be tons of different species interested in joining the SBZ. I can't really see why any one species would be more prevalent than another and it wouldn't make much sense to start listing tons of different species. :P

Hey there! Could you elaborate more on the ores and minerals found on the planet?

Also, @RedneckLoves - The planetary defenses are something to be brought up in the Hall of Leaders. Not a planetary approval thread, so could you kindly remove that section, and put it up in the Hall of Leaders instead? Feel free to add it back in the Sith Boards after you, the admins and other FLs have gone over it in the HoL.

@Breeso - put in some specific ores and minerals for you. I literally just went to the list of SW minerals and picked a handful that had something to do with making weapons, armor, or ships. So if anything doesn't fit just lemme know. I'm pretty sure I didn't put any in there that are limited to one planet and such.

@Kiro - I removed the Polar Defense Systems and the Orbital Defense Fleet from this writeup and copied into the HoL. Was there any other section pertaining to the defenses that you'd like me to remove and put in the HoL?

:D

I saw Trinium and was like "Oh yeah, medicine for poor Jaffas". Then I realised that this is not Stargate.

Anyways, APPROVED

Breeso, I'm not sure what you did there but there's now a duplicate of my OP in the approved section and this one is still here like it was. In case you didn't realize that. :D

Clayton approved the Polar Defense Systems and the Orbital Defense Fleet in the HoL, so I added those back into the official write up.
