DESCRIPTION​

The YV-560 light freighter is ship manufactured by the venerable Corellian Engineering Corporation. Designed in an effort by CEC to break into the lucrative scouting market, the YV-560 incorporated advanced sensors and large consumable reserves for missions up to 8 months in duration, it was an instant hit, and many remain in service to this day.

The YV-560 follows the by now standard CEC configuration, with a disc-shaped fuselage, forward mandibles and a pod cockpit. Said cockpit is centrally located on the YV-560, unlike some other designs. In addition to the aforementioned consumables and sensors, the type has a single defensive laser turret, medium shields and can carry 40 tons of cargo. The ships crew consists of 2 beings, a pilot and co-pilot, as well as up to 5 passengers.

CEC ceased series production of the YV-560 some years ago, but the type remains popular enough to warrant special order production and continued support of existing models with parts and service. The type is extremely popular with interstellar cartographers, who are able to use the ship's long-range sensors to scan entire planets with just a few orbits.
