Nar Shadaa

~Casino~

The air was filled with the sound of many slot games and murmuring voices. People were crowded around card tables playing many assorted games. People came here for fun or some for an itch of gambling. Some were here because the chance of a win called to them so strongly they couldn't leave til they made it big. Others understood these games were rigged into the house's favor and followed their monetary limits well.

Mazikeen was neither of those people. She did not partake in games though even if it was her choice to, she found she would most likely not enjoy the risk of loss. She hurried past the tables to the elevator. The real reason she was there, her master was there. The elevator was amazingly slow and she began to hum softly as the numbers continued to rise. She pulled down her hood and let the bag she carried rest on the ground a moment. Finally the elevator lurched to a halt on the top floor. The doors opened and she picked up her bag walked the short hall to the large double doors of the penthouse.

She entered and went off to the kitchen where she secured the liquors she had returned with. She turned and silenced her humming as she heard Caiden's footsteps. She returned to the living room to see if she was needed for anything. "Do you require something, Caiden?" @EmilyHuene

Meetings meetings and more meetings. Didn't he get rich to enjoy life and not be so stressed out all the time? Apparently not. Caiden Vex was the current owner of the Club Vertica Casino. His faction, the Shadow Syndicate, took controlling interest of the estate and that was only the beginning of his wealth. Caiden had more money than he knew what to do with. Yet, with all that wealth came the responsibility of navigating the leadership of the Syndicate. His attention was required at just about every meeting and it only got worse now that his life-time friend and partner Gavros Krauch was returning. He'd been in prison for years due to The Accord capturing him and soon would be coming back to take control of the Syndicate. Caiden was not happy with this turn of events.

He left the board room and entered into the lift to take him up to the penthouse. Like always he was dressed in a suit and tie. Today's coloration consisted of light blues and a golden tie. He rather liked that tie and had many of them in the same style. The button up shirt was striped in whites and blues and then the suit jacket was a solid light cobalt which was slightly black in certain lights. Upon entering the penthouse he kicked off his fancy shoes and pulled off his socks then slipped his feet into a pair of bamboo sandals. Caiden was then quickly greeted by his faithful attendant.

"Do you require something, Caiden?"

Caiden smiled and went to the nearby couch and plopped himself down onto it while starting to undo his tie, "Yes my little bird, bring me a drink. I've had another one of those days."

Mazikeen smiled and bowed her head gently before departing back to where she placed all the fresh liquors. She mixed up Caiden's favorite and returned glass in hand to his side at the couch. She held the drink out for him to take. She turned taking a seat in the nearby chair adjusting her robes before her eyes turned on him,"Was it simply the busyness that has worn on you or has someone said something to make things worse?" The care in her voice was genuine. While she may have been his slave she felt closer to him. He was kind to her. She honestly probably would never run even if she had the opportunity. He was, well her friend. That was a relationship she certainly wasn't used to but she had come to enjoy.

"Was it simply the busyness that has worn on you or has someone said something to make things worse?"

Caiden took the glass from her and took a rather large sip of it before letting out an exasperated sigh. He leaned back in the chair and struggled to take off the rest of his tie with his free hand; he expected Mazikeen to fix that and help him get undressed the rest of the way as she would often do. He was rather helpless sometimes. When he finally did answer he would say, "Oh it's just all this paperwork we have to fill out for Gavros to return. It's so terribly annoying. I need a secretary."

She smiled and stood walking over to him noticing him struggle with his tie. "Here." She stated as she untied his tie for him. "Would you like your jacket hung as well? If so I need you to stand a moment." If he stands she would proceed to removed his suit jacket and then quickly go and hang them returning. "I can keep and organize files if you really do need a secretary. I am here to help with whatever you require Caiden. Its honestly apart of the job description as slave." She smiled at the word slave as with him she didn't feel like one.

He would do as she asked and allow her to take his jacket and tie, "I don't know what I'd do without you, my little bird."

"And it's exactly that reason why you won't be accompanying me to these meetings. While you may keep my personal life from sinking, no one will respect you or give you the time of day. Your job is here. Doing as I wish and tending to my every need." He seemed incredibly sarcastic with those last words like he almost didn't like them himself.

"Speaking of which...do we have any more candidates?" Caiden was referring to the fact he was still looking for a mate and due to a certain...discretion, wasn't able to go looking for it himself. As such, he'd put his trusty slave-girl to do the dirty work.

"I do not need everyones respect to keep things in order. But as you wish." She sat herself back down in the chair. She adjusted her robes to fall properly.

"The last few interviews have knocked quite a few off the list. It is amazing how many people on Nar Shadaa have a drug problem. The previous one you were rooting for, James." Her eye would light up and the image of the man smiling at the bar would appear in a holographic image before Caiden. "He is still clean as far as I can tell. And Alex," The image change to another man at the bar where she normally would get to know them passed their back round chcecks to make sure they were not some scum of the earth unworthy of Caiden's attention. "He is dorky but clean and ready to meet if you so desire." The images dropped and her eyes dimmed.

Caiden watched with fascinated eyes as Mazikeen's holographic eyes created holograms for only him to see. He simply loved how well those worked and how convenient they were to his cause. That's why he pushed so hard to get the prototypes approved and get them installed for his slave. Unlike other recording devices, which could be hacked or stolen, only Mazikeen herself had access to the footage and thus his little secret would remain as such.

"Very well then. Set up a meeting with them both. Make it look inconspicuous of course. Put them up in a room here; nothing too fancy."

"As you wish." Mazikeen stood and went over to the kitchen which she could still chat with Caiden in due to the open design of the penthouse. "What would you like for supper?" She pulled the fridge open looking over the food they had. She hummed and moved over to the pantry looking in it as well. "It looks like I will need to get groceries tomorrow, but I am sure there is plenty desirable meals to come of what wee have currently."

As she hummed and looked about he would think about what he had a taste for. He finished up the small remainder of the drink in his hand then set it down beside him and began to unbutton the first three notches to his shirt. "Oh I know. Make that famous fried veggie dish you're so good at. You know, the ones with those red Naboo tomatoes." He clicked his tongue a few times as he approved of his choice. He then reached for a data pad and would turn on the news to listen to the dribble of the universe going on beyond his cares. The Sith still researching some secret project, Jedi fighting back in the Southern rings of the Rim, and which celebrities currently had boyfriends. One such flick was a woman named Valerie Black and a Sith named Virion Condorro. Blah. Celebrity relationships never last.

Mazikeen smiled brightly as she gather the different spices from the cabinets she would require for the dish. She used the last few tomatoes they had. She was letting everything simmer a moment and noticed Caiden looking over the news, "Anything interesting in the large dark world of ours?" Even after she could see she referred to the world as dark it simply took on a new meaning from literal to figurative.

"Anything interesting in the large dark world of ours?"

"Nothing worth mentioning," he would respond. He turned it off as he switched to a different channel where he could follow his favorite sports team which naturally was losing terribly. Good thing he never bet on them.

"I swear how hard is it to make a decent quarterback!" she shouted at the holoscreen as he watched the center droid get tackled by the opposing team. He groaned and drooped his head back into the couch. "I'm gonna need another drink, Maz..."

She smiled and retrieved his glass from the table. "Coming right up." Mazikeen quickly returns with a fresh drink for him. She then goes to the dining table and begins setting places. She places a plate adorned on either side with shining polished silverware. She had worked hard earlier making absolutely certain there were no spots. She pulled out the light blue napkins from the drawer where she had carefully places them after laundry the day before. She folded the blue napkin and rested it in the center of his plate. She set herself up an identical placement to the right of his seat which was the head of the table. If there had been guests she would not be eating till long after they had all left but thankfully it was a private night so she could sit at the table and eat with Caiden as though they were friends instead of her being his property. She then ventured to the kitchen retrieving the food and transferring it to a table serving dish which she then placed at their end of the table. "Dinner is ready." Her eyes gave a final scan for the minor details that were unacceptable. She found everything perfectly in place and waited for Caiden to come over.

Caiden sat back up in his chair and then leaned on his knees while the robotic players on screen continued to try and make passes only to drop the ball, literally, then get tackled by the other team. He continued to scream at the holoscreen and then threw his remote in anger. It crashed against the wall and shattered to pieces. Yet another broken remote. While he wasn't prone to anger, when it came to his favorite team losing he lost all self control. That being said, he hadn't thrown a remote in some time. Mazikeen could likely assume his day was worse than he was telling. When she came back, looking cool and calm despite the fact he threw stuff around, he took the glass from her and took another long sip.

"Stupid game," he said in comment to the busted remote. His slave then went to prepare dinner while he would head to his room. He set the empty glass on the last end table in the room before leaving. In his room he changed into more comfortable shirt and pants before coming back out. He took a quick lap to the bathroom to relieve himself and wash his hands. Looking at himself in the mirror he brushed his hair and decided it was time to get a hair cut.

"Dinner is ready."

"Be there in a minute!" he called like he was responding to his house-wife. He'd come out a minute later and sat at the table and unfolded the napkin without so much as a smile to the decoration. Caiden wasn't known for courtesy or gratitude. Mazikeen might have the easiest slave job in the world, but she was still his slave and expected to behave as such. He didn't bother waiting for her to sit and join him so he dug right into his food. Though he wouldn't outright compliment her cooking, his moans and such from eating were more than cue enough.

She expected nothing less of him she simply just tried to bring everything to the maximum elegance she could for him. Though part of her did like to know her work was a good effort, but the rest of her reminded her of her place and moved on as she always did. It is how the world works. The voice echoed in her head of her mother so long ago,the world is a dark place my sweet angel. She had noticed the remote but normally would not prod till he wished to share not wanting to face his rage. He had never snapped at her before but she feared an overstep might lead to that. She sat and ate a small portion finding her appetite was not all there. She was fine by all means but simply not very hungry. She excused herself taking up her place setting and settling it in the dishwasher, she took the napkin to the laundry and set up the silver to be polished. When she was done it was as though she was never at the table. She then moved to the living room to clean the shattered remains of another remote. She tossed the pieces in the trash and moved to the drawer where she kept a spare. She would have to remember to get another while she was out tomorrow. While it may be rare for him to break them it was a recurrence that she took to being prepared for. She stood in the living room a moment programming the remote to work on the holos interface. Her mother's voice rose in her mind again, I'm sorry my sweet angel. Those words filled her with sadness and hatred neither of which she would reveal. She would simply reinstate herself into the firm slave mode. There would be no smile but there would be no frown. She wouldn't have to worry about watery eyes or the emotion making through as emotion did not transfer to the mechanics and the metal sockets implants took care of the tear ducts. She rested the remote down on the table and grabbed his glass, "Do you require another, Sir?"

She would eat only a few bites before leaving him to his own. He finished of his drink rather quickly and continued to devour his plate until she would eventually return to check on him. She'd see his plate was nearly empty and only had a few bites on it left. He would hand her the plate after scooping the rest in his mouth.

"Do you require another, Sir?"

"Oh yes. You've out done yourself with this batch. Oh and bring me another drink. Something a little smoother this time? I'd rather not get drunk tonight." Ok so maybe he did have the occasional compliment to give. He wiped his mouth with the napkin and waited for her to return with another. He spared no time digging into the second helpings.

Mazikeen lowered the liquor content of his drink combining a few extra flavors to allow it to taste nearly the same. She gave the glass a single swirl to allow it to mix. She place the new drink on the table. "I am always happy when you enjoy the things I do, sir?" She was still trudging through on autopilot. She went off to the bathroom to relieve herself and ended up caught at the mirror a few extra moments. She gave herself her usual pep talk. You could be a whore you could be dead and you could still be blind. You no longer live unwanted you are desired if even just as a pet. Your mother missed out on a wonderful person and frankly if she had kept you, you would never have seen the world again. This helped her in her own odd way though to most the negatives would have been too heavy. She stepped out from the bathroom and waited for Caiden to finish his meal. Once he did she would clean everything up to the highest standard.

"I am always happy when you enjoy the things I do, sir?"

"Uh-huh," would be his answer. He didn't quite understand if she was asking a question or just saying things. He was too focus on the food to care.

When she returned to him he'd be about halfway through that plate and was starting to slow down. His eyes were bigger than his stomach, as usual. But he had to dscipline himself to not eat everything around him or else he'd get fat. This of course was one of the hardest challenges in his life. Growing up and having to scrounge around for scraps was a terrible way to life. Now that he had all the money in the world he could order food for days and not know what to do with it. But that was no way to live either. Discipline. Control. That's what his life was about.

So, he set down the plate and finished off the liquid in his glass. He tossed the napkin over his plate and then went to head to his study. He had a few more things of paperwork to fill out for his own personal accounts. Then he liked to plan out the following day, starting with what he'd wear. He pulled out a suit not unlike the one he wore today and matching pants to go with it. He was feeling red, so he took one of his red ties to wear. Once they were all pulled from the racks he would set them on the hooks of the wall where he could access them easily in the morning.

Once the table was spotless she walked off into her room. It was not much more than a bed and a closet. It was honestly all she needed. She went to the side table where a stand for a pair of rounderstanding objects rested. She pressed a finger to her right cornea and a whir of tiny gear sounds off the soft glow of her right eye dimmed till off and then a small click sounds and the eyes come slightly passed her eyelid. Her hand reaches up pulling the implant free of its metal socket. She placed it in one side of the charging base and then repeated the action with her left eye, locking it into the base. If she was required again almost anything in the penthouse she could do blind depending of course.

Caiden spent a good hour going through his bills and accounts, checking emails and things of that nature, before finally coming out of his study. It was late in the night now, but he had no reason to get up before noon. Or even after noon really. His clientele and peers usually met at night so morning wasn't really his thing. Caiden decided he felt like working out. It was better than returning to an empty bed. Again. Heading to a slightly hidden staircase in the furthest corner of his penthouse he descended the flight to the floor below them. The whole floor had been fitted to act as a gym for his own personal gain. Equipped with various weight lifting machines and exercising tables, the gym could handle roughly five or six people comfortably. The floor was square, overall, taking up as much room as possible without giving in to the supports needed to keep the building up. Where they did come down however placed them in perfect positions around the equipment so as no one would crash into them. Lastly, the edge of the gym had a running track which looped full circle as far as it could stretch. However, on the far wall was a half hidden wall that the runner would go behind for one corner of the circle. On this small stretch of wall were targets.

Heading over to the center of the room Caiden came to a metal standing rack which held four types of bows. To him they all had their own different feel to them, some stronger where others might be more capable of hitting longer ranges. To someone not proficient in archery they of course would all look the same. Caiden picked up the black bow, his favorite, and slung a couple arrows into a quiver which he hung over his shoulder. He paced his mark on one of the designated lines for distance and one by one began to shoot at the different targets. His aim, as always, was on par. Caiden could go for weeks at a time without touching his bow and come back and still be as accurate. That's just the type of control he kept to himself.
