Open to all Padawan. And maybe a stray Jedi Knight/Master or two.
He hailed from a remote backwater planet in the vast expanse of the Outer Rim and thus had never experienced going offworld, save for that time when the late Jedi Knight Atuvrak had taken the teenager with him to Ajan Kloss. Maiko supposed that his subsequent stay on the Jedi temple would be full of training and learning about the Force, and making connections with his fellow Padawans as well as the Knights and Masters teaching them.
For three weeks, Maiko believed that nothing could go wrong. That the sanctuary that was Ajan Kloss would remain vibrant and full of life as younglings grew into Padawan, and for the Padawan to become accomplished Jedi Knights and Masters. But then the Sith came and Maiko's hopes were mercilessly crushed like a pest that needed to be rid off.
Adjusting to life on Yavin-4 had its ups and downs. With the death of Knight Atuvrak, the Council had assigned Maiko a new Master who would pick up where his former teacher left off. Master Alex Voran was a kind woman, and he looked forward to learn many more things from her and for him to grow into a full-fledged Jedi under her guidance.
The not-so good part?
He didn't have friends yet.
Maiko was an introvert by nature, mostly preferring to keep to himself. But even introverts needed friends, right? The demise of his fellow Padawan and friends on Ajan Kloss had left a wound in his heart, and sometimes his sadness and grief simply bled through the Force.
Maybe making new friends would help not only him but those who also lost Masters and friends back on Ajan Kloss?
In this great time of sadness and loss, something he was sure everyone was still finding it difficult to get over with (maybe there was no getting over that tragedy), Maiko knew that everyone needed someone to forge new bonds of frienship.
After all, all Padawans have to look out for each other when their Masters were away. Right?
