Name: Xortdan (Xortdanis)
Biology:
Their skin is a combination of blue and grey, and at times one colour can be the more dominate feature; while on rare occasions their skin take on a separate hue differing from the species. Their eyes come in three dominate colours, orange hue. red, or a icy blue; and can at times change colours pending on mood, while their hair can be either black or white with some Xortdani adding various colours or highlights to it. They are slim in stature while reaching a maximum height of 5'5. The Xortdan have six fingers per hand and only four toes per foot. The lifespan of the species is two hundred years. Their skeleton is more cartilage than bone, while have predominate canine teeth that are hollowed to extract the Force energy from prey or the hemoglobin from the blood.

All Xortdan are born Force Sensitive, and have the uncanny ability to repel elemental attacks such as Sith (Force) Lightening and have the Precognition ability. Their skin contains a rare gene that allows it to act like an absorber, allowing them to take in the Force Lightening and dissipate it through their body to ground out the effect. However, the pain is three-fold due to their weakness to heat.

Their Precognitive ability works best during meditation trances, and the ability gives them an accurate picture of the future; but the future is never set in stone.

ALL Xortdan are female in appearance.

Breeding: The Xortdan are hermaphrodites, with both organs working properly. However, they can't breed with themselves thus requiring a mate. The species is non-compatible with other species. Adult hood is reached at twenty, and upon reaching adulthood they must breed immediately or die. They are highly fertile with a 99% chance of pregnancy occurring at the time of mating.

Strengths:

Cold---> They thrive in the cold and are immune to the lowest of temperatures. However, if exposed to long to anything under negative one-hundred degrees, their metabolism dictates that they feed immediately (within three hours of said exposure) or risk death.

Force---> They have a strong connection to the Force due to being born with it. They possess a high midi-chlorian count.

Regeneration Abilities---> They can recover from injuries/loss of limbs. But cannot regenerate lost limbs during battle. In terms of recovering loss limbs, it takes a period of forty-eight hours to occur and ONLY after they feed. As for injuries, this includes up to broken bones, flesh wounds, etc. *See Heat Weakness In Terms of Weapons*

Weaknesses:

Feeding---> They feed off the Force to survive (individuals), but when they do they are weakened for a period of thirty-six hours, and when feeding they are highly vulnerable during the ingestion period to mental attacks via the Force. This includes feeding off non-Force users. (Feeding is usually done away from others)

Breeding---> Upon reaching adulthood, they must mate and give birth. If they fail to mate, they will die.

Heat---> Highly susceptible to heat, including energy weapons, lightsabers, etc. But are immune to artificial light. Any injuries occurred from this will negate their regeneration ability forcing them to seek medical treatment. Exposed to long tenures of heat (such as the sun, lava-infested planets, high-tempered climates) cause them to become weakened in the Force; depleting their Force energy by twenty-five percent.

Diet:

They feed of the Force, mainly those entwined with it. When they feed, they drain the user of Force energy but do not kill them. However, they cannot feed off one another. If forced to feed off the 'life energy' of a non-Force user, they ingest the hemoglobin from the blood, and this process proves fatal to their prey.

Behavior/Temperament:

They are isolationists (with some trying to dispel this by living in villages together), only dealing with people when required. They are quickly angered, yet can be passive aggressive.

Communication:

When speaking with another Xortdan, they do so via telepathy; but do have their own language known to them as Lamian. Outside of their species they speak Galactic Basic.

Culture:

One of their main cultural traditions is the Ulimnation Of One, which dictates that when they reach the age of eighteen, they are forced to live off the land for a period of three weeks and must not only survive, but bring back the head of a Wampa. If they live on another ice world where Wampas are not existent, then they must bring back a head from the apex predator of that region/planet.

Upon completing the Ulimnation Of One, they are accepted into the village; while if they fail (if they survive the three week long absence) and return without an apex predators head, they are deemed weak and put to death.

The Xortdan worship the mighty Wampa as a spiritual animal and a symbol of strength. Many arguments broke out about killing one of the Wampas during the Ulimnation Of One ritual, so it was decided that they would breed the animals in the wild as a way to appease their spirit animal.

The Wampa, when worlds existed for their survival, have been transplanted on other frigid worlds.

Another tradition is called Ju'o Lam, which is the mating ritual all Xortdan must endure when they reach the age of twenty. In order for them to continue to have a powerful species, mating is required or risk death. At the onset of the ritual, the Xortdan in waiting will handpick ten potential mates. These ten are placed in a pit and fight until there are only two, but killing is forbidden during this event.

Once two suitors have survived, they are pitted against one another in a fight to the death, the winner granted the right to mate with the woman in waiting. If the loser has a family, they are exiled from the village forfeiting their belongings to the village to be spread out among them; but if they have no family, their belongings are offered as a reward to the winner of the fight.

The tradition, or ritual, known as Dr'i Di'o only occurs when an Xortdan wishes to leave the village. Those that leave without completing this ritual are branded a traitor and if they return, it's on pain of death. The ritual consists of them going through three separate trials.

The first trial called Ki'om pits them against a test of heat. They are forced to endure the heat for two days without pause. Because they are weakened by heat, this ritual can leave a damaging mark on their psyche if not fully prepared. Those that breakdown mentally are put to death.

If they pass this trial, they are elevated to the second trial known as Ulk'on Qu'o; which forces the prospect to go four days without feeding while standing in temperatures bordering on negative one-hundred degrees naked. The threat of death is high if the body of the one undergoing the trial is not properly trained to guard against the freezing temperature. Because they have to feast if their body is exposed to this temperature, the Xortdan have been secretly breeding non-Force user species as food. The manner in which they get their 'cattle' is known only to the Elder and his close advisors.

The third and final trial, the Nab'op consists of them being stripped naked again and being fastened to a pole. During this trial, the village Elder begins to cut and strip their flesh from the body, but is refrained from stabbing or killing. Though quite painful, their regeneration ability allows them to heal upon completion. They must endure this for twenty-fours straight, and if they ask for mercy; which ends this trial, they are marked with a symbol resembling a bone on their forehead and lose all status in the village. Once all trials have been completed, the Xortdan wishing to leave is branded with a symbol of the Wampa on their left inner thigh and granted permission to leave.

Each Xortdan has one concrete belief, they all believe they were created, as a species, by an ancient race they call "The Ancients", a master race they believe gave birth to the galaxy, choosing them to be the superior creation. The concept of this religious belief has been muddled over the years, but one consistency is that the species had been bred in a illuminated 'tomb' (which is a lab) by the Ancients to serve as slaves. Upon seeing the Xortdani, the Ancients fell in love with them granting them to access the knowledge of the Ancients; thus making them believe they are the galaxies superior race.

History:

Arhon, one the first of the Xortan to be created, tried to unify her species, only to be met with violent resistance; which culminated in the deaths of Xortdanis who chose several sides. The species began to spread across the galaxy, most settling on various spots on the planet of Hoth. Some tried to erect temples and form a religion based off the Ancients, but were met with resistance that led to another session of infighting.

During the year 3,000 BBY. a great interspecies war, known as the Unholy Reformation, erupted; pitting the species against each other. Again, as isolationists, no factions were formed so it became a free-for-all, culminating in so many deaths that the species almost became extinct. Toward the end of the Unholy Reformation, Gerlophy, a direct descendent of Arhon, managed to bring her species together, known as The Gathering, on the remote world of Hoth. It was during this gathering that all squabbles were settled, and eventually a baby boom took place.

Several groups band together, in hopes of changing their recluse lifestyle, and began forming small villages deep in the ice fields and caverns of Hoth. Each village, appointed an Elder, while making their own rules and laws that varied from village to village. All those found guilty of breaking the rules where sentenced to death. However, each village began to adopt their own lifestyle and eventually wars broke out among the villages.

Currently, and forever, the Xortdan from these Hoth villages fight against one another; while any Xortdan that leaves the planet, or their village, is looked upon as a traitor to their species.

The Xortdani, those living in secluded villages, are known to attack nearby outposts or ships taking prisoners as both slaves and food. They assimilate any technology they uncover into their world.

Planet: Hoth

Technology:

They are like most species, utilizing the advanced technology of the galaxy.

Intent:

To create a new species for writers, especially myself (I love a challenge) to use. If enough people decide to use this species, an Empire will form from their species that will one day challenge the galaxy. This also gives writers a species to practically design as they see fit, since the species is mainly isolationists, giving them the opportunity to forge their character however they desire.

So I'm not actually a mod for species and stuff, but I thought I might as well step in and throw you some hints about improving this species chance for approval.
So first, the major issue. While cool, the weaknesses and strengths are VASTLY imbalanced. Metabolism, Diet, and Breeding aren't much more than fluff weaknesses, and the sun exposure thing can be easily handwaved if need be. In comparison to that they ALL have the force, are IMMUNE to disease and poison, have NIGHT VISION, RAPID regen, along with passive FORCE DRAIN, a very strong power. You will also probably have to elaborate a bit on them, How fast exactly? What counts as fatal? What can they not heal from? How dangerous is there force drain to other characters? Does artificial light effect them? Stuff like that.

Second, this is pretty bare boned overall. In addition to the areas I already mentioned, you should probably add some more to each section and try to flesh them out. The site, in my experience, holds new species and planets to high standards, and the way it is right now probably wont cut it. For instance, we already have a canon force vampire-type species called the Anzat You essentially have to explain why your species is more beneficial than that one, and why the site would benefit from its addition.

I'm in agreement with @Narsi. Immunity to all diseases and poisons is a bit unfair. You might want to extend the sun weakness thing to prevent them from entering sunlit areas at all, or extend it to general light. Not sure what you mean by "rapid regeneration", but if they're regrowing limbs/sealing wounds inflicted on them in the same fight, then that needs to be toned down. I'd also suggest making their feeding considerably time-consuming and leaving them vulnerable as they perform it.

How do they repel Lightning? Does it just naturally bend away from them or do you mean they can use Deflection to repel it? I'd argue that the former is way too powerful.

To what extent are they precognitive? They can't predict every strike, or the majority of strikes, in combat. I'm assuming that you refer to general Force precognition, since you mentioned this species as being innately Force-sensitive.

I'm also thinking that if they're basically going to be vampires, you could give them weaknesses to either heat (ie. lightsaber blades, blaster bolts, etc.), extreme sound, or weaknesses to specific Force powers (sort of like the religious weaknesses they have in pop culture). You can probably keep some of the other strengths if you do that.

Great design, though.

Thank you all for the feedback....

I plan to redo what you both have suggested, but the torrent snow storms knocked out my power so I had to settle with this until power restored. Again, thanks for the feedback.

Their Precognitive ability works best during meditation trances, and the ability gives them an accurate picture of the future; but the future is never set in stone. In terms of combat, they have roughly a ten percent chance to predict a strike.
As per the rules this would be highly questionable. Predicting of attacks with the force is not allowed.

As mentioned above, we have similar species in SW such as the Anzat or even Energy Vampires, which are both approved for the site and you're welcome to use them.

At this time, this will not be approved and will be archived.
