Family Life
Megera was the last daughter of a small family within the Valkaria clan. She had three older sisters, who were much older than herself. She had been the mistake and this caused her to be continuously ignored within her family. The clan, had no idea that she even existed. Despite her being ignored and somewhat mistreated by her family, she became a loud and boisterous young lady. Jozunda Valkaria had been her mother in her younger years. She had been a well trained and revered agent until Megera was about 6 years old. At the time of Jozunda's assassination, her older sisters had already been sent to Valkaria training and no longer were apart of their individual family, but were immersed within the Valkaria clan. Only her father and Megera had remained in the house.

Jozunda had betrayed the clan and had given vital information to an outside contractor. Karisa, the Valkaria clan leader, found out this information. She brought her into her office and ended her life without any other questions. She then sent assassins to Megera's home to murder the rest of the family. When the assassins entered their home in the middle of the day, Romden (her father) hid Megera in the closet and told her not to leave the closet, no matter what. She did what she was told and watched her father be killed in front of her. Unfortunately, her hiding spot had not been as clever as Romden had believed. They found Megera cowering in a corner (only six at the time). She was crying hysterically and shaking. The assassins could not bring themselves to kill her, regardless if she was the daughter of a traitor.

Without letting anyone else know, they sent her into slave trade. Since she was too young for many of the regular jobs, she lived within the home of a Valkarian Security agent with three other slaves. No one knew that she was the daughter of a traitor, not even Megera, and this secret would keep her safe .

Slave Life
Megera did house work in her younger years for Agent Yaketa along with a Rodian named, Hiden, and another human, Alasa. Despite the title of slave, Yaketa did not treat them poorly. She rarely was home, but made sure that they had enough credits to keep the ice box filled with food and all of her utilities running. The three slaves were required to keep Yaketa's house clean and orderly so that when she returned (which usually was random) the house would be clean and she could eat fresh food before she set out for her next contract. Alasa became Megera's mother figure. She took care of her and taught her how to be a good slave. Don't ask questions. Do the job right, do the job well, never mention the details. Megera remembered the last portion from her father. He use to tell his sisters this everyday.

She followed closely to what Alasa and Hiden did in their daily lives and when they finished with their work, Hiden would teach her Rodian. He said that eventually, when she escaped the slave trade, Rodian would become useful to her. Megera believed him and continued to absorb the language. Alasa, being a human from Coursacant, also taught her Basic, but she was not as interested in Basic as she was in continuing Rodian. Despite being slaves, they both were required to understand and communicate in Deucalic, the common language of the Valkaria Clan. This was a language that Megera was already pretty fluent in since it was her first language, but Alasa had continued to educate her on larger words.

When Megera turned 18, she was reassigned to a new slave owner. However, this owner did not require house keeping, she required an assistant/secretary within the actual Valkarian Agency. Tevina was an older woman. She had long silver hair and thin features. When she walked she was completely silent. She use to tell Megera that years within the industry turned her into a ghost and that Megera needed to practice being more silent. Her exact words were, "Stop trudging around like a Ronto before you get yourself killed." Although she was not an agent, she began to practice being light on her feet. Although she was never completely silent like Tevina, she grew more and more quiet.

This came in handy one day when Tevina gave her an assignment. It wasn't like her regular work. She instructed her that every secretary must undergo a trust process and that she needed to kill a specific contract for her. Megera was completely dumbfounded. She had never killed anyone and had only known the life of organizing files and cleaning toilets. She took a look at the file, it was similar to the others. A male figure, thin with a light beard. He was located within the Valkarian clan just on the outskirts of the corporation. Though she was scared, she did not decline the application. The man died over night and she returned to Tevina with a completed contract.

Tevina accepted the completed contract. She asked her if she remembered her face and Megera declined. Tevina had been one of the agents that had killed her father when they captured her. She told her that Megera was not going to live her days out as a slave when she had vital Valkarian blood running through her veins. She instructed her that she would begin training to become a private investigator as soon as possible. Megera continued to be confused by the incident, but Tevina instructed her that if she mentioned her history or her family's past, she would die. She had been given a chance at redemption; a chance to outlive her family's reputation and that she was not allowed to waste it. Megera left Tevina and began training immediately.

Freedom
With a new profound freedom, Megera began her training as a private investigator. Although her combat skills are not the strongest, her words are fluid and persuasive. The Agents began to train her to use her words against clients and their targets. She would never have to kill again... at least so she thought. Three years into her freedom, she met someone. A male human slave that worked under her old master, Tevina. He was roughly her age and spoke fluent Deucalic. Trainees were not allowed to converse with other Agents' slaves, but she broke this rule when she ran into Deveen. They talked briefly, but the connection was there.

Being a previous member of the slave community, she had not only a strong connection to his slave life, but she felt drawn to the life she once had. She had been mistreated her entire life, this new life of building respect, titles and glory was not something she was use to. They met in secret often and fell in love. They both knew this love could not last. If Tevina found out about their affair she would reveal everything that Megera was and possibly kill Deveen. It wasn't something she could live with, but she couldn't live without him. Megera tried to keep her distance as Tevina closed in. However, her efforts were for not. Tevina found out and instead of confronting the two, she assigned Megera a target that would bring her into the full-fledged life of a private investigator.

When she opened the file and saw Deveen's face, she refused to let her emotions get the best of her. If Tevina saw weakness in her, she would die. Megera snuck into his home as she had many times before, but this time, with a dagger in hand. Deveen slept peacefully. She kissed him on the forehead before completing her task. When she returned to Tevina, she promised to herself that she would murder the woman who forced her to kill the only man she had ever loved.

After she completed her contract, Tevina took her in as her assistant. Within a year or two, Megera's knowledge and skill of Valkaria operations surpassed her old mentor and master. In the third year, she killed Tevina and took her place as a private investigator. Although her fighting and assassination skills are not as strong as her silver tongue, she still completes assassination contracts when given. Today, she prefers the paper work, interrogations and meetings with cliental. She would much rather call in an agent to do her dirty work.

Megera's entire life has been revolved around betrayal and abuse. Although these have made her strong and independent, her ability to trust has severely been damaged in the process. The only individual she ever trusted with anything in her life was murdered by her own hand. Even her leadership failed to gain her trust due to the high demand of blood that comes with being a Valkaria. The process of protecting each other is less likely than stabbing anther in the back. Megera constantly is looking over her shoulder and being very cautious, even with the people she's worked with for many years.

Although her life is full of mistrust, she is someone to be trusted. When she sets her mind to something, she never fails to complete that task or to at least see it through. Even through torture, death and betrayal, she's able to keep her promises and her devotion to the Clan. She may have killed Tevina (an act of mistrust) it was something that the Clan expects from Assistants; eventually, the leadership dies and the Assistants take over. She knows that one day she will take on an Assistant and they will kill her and take her position.

Despite her not being able to trust well, her personality is extraordinarily bright. She has a tongue of silver that is able to draw most individuals in and persuade them to do almost anything. Usually she only persuades anyone to do anything when she is working. She is able to maintain easy conversations even with the hardest of individuals to talk to. When she gains clients, targets or suspects, she is able to question/interrogate them into giving as much information as possible and rarely do they lie to her. When tossed some shade, she's able to snap back with a sassy remark or insult that usually leaves the opposing party speechless.

Megera is serious a lot of the time, but it does not stop her from having fun. She laughs more regularly and smiles more than the average Valkaria. Megera knows how fragile the system is although she never treats it like a joke, she remains light. She would much rather have a pleasant conversation with a client, then have them strictly give her the basics. This is what makes her good at her job; she's personable, even if she's never actually getting close to her clients.

Organization is a key value within Megera's life. She makes sure that all of her holograms are organized, color coded and labeled based on the case. When a case is completed, she destroys the hologram so that the evidence is destroyed as quickly as possible.

Since Megera's job is secretive, she commonly goes by the name of Shade outside of the compound. When visiting other planets and seeking knowledge on clients or targets, she'll refer to herself under the name of Shade Crazel to keep herself protected. The only individuals that know her true identity are those that work directly with her.
