.. am I a huge nerd for being kinda hyped about this? I had a chance to play with the pre-release build a few weeks ago and it was actually really cool.
That said, Windows Edge is a hilariously bad name for a browser - it sounds like what an emo kid would name their Firefox shortcut or something.
I felt the same way until I installed 8.1 with the BlueShell mod. It's like a better version of 7.
Haven't heard much about 10, does it have all that touchy menu crap like 8?
If you're talking about the Metro UI or start screen or whatever you'd like to call the screen with all the touch tiles, it isn't the first thing that pops up anymore, no.
Apparently someone at Microsoft realized that not everyone has a touch screen monitor. However. They still wanted to remind you it's a thing they made, and so they've shoved it down into the left corner as the reincarnated Start Menu. Well half of the menu, anyway.
And if you are one of the people with a touch screen, or tablet or what have you (since Windows 10 is supposed to run on pretty much anything) or if you just hate yourself, you can change settings to make the tiles come back in all of their multicolored glory at full size
That's what I've found from playing with it Anyway, lol.
Is it really that good performance-wise?
I saw some people complaining the Task Manager used some ridiculously high amount of CPU, something related to drivers.
*Looks up and around with eyes of teary joy* My people!
Everyone always gives me grief for still using Windows 7 but I find Windows 8 to be an abomination and I am so (!!!!x10) grateful to have the damn Start button back.
Oh I know right? What happened to the wee bit dramatic but cool sounding "Project Spartan" browser? I mean just call a spade a spade and give us Internet Explorer...
