“If we act like prey, they’ll act like predators”
Theme

Tatooine was one of the last places Syrin would ever want to be. It was unnecessarily hot and dry, and the amount of dust constantly getting in one's eye was entirely frustrating. Syrin could barely put up with the conditions, but only because of the promised pay: 100 thousand credits for a Greater Krayt Dragon pearl. Though unaware of what exactly a Krayt Dragon was, she was fairly confident the job would be easy. However, Syrin was pissed to hear that she would have to work with another person; this meant the payment was going to be split. She only hoped her partner wouldn't be completely useless.

It was just about time to signal her partner her location, so Syrin took the flare gun she obtained beforehand and shot it up into the air. After shooting the flare, Syrin began working her way down a canyon to meet with her partner. "They better have shown up," mumbled Syrin. She decided to speed up her descent by taking big leaps down the canyon, using the force to slow her fall. Once at the bottom, she waited next to a large boulder and started to stretch until her partner arrived.

Alana was getting pretty desperate for work, even she'd admit that, so when this little woman was going around asking for help in killing a Krayt Dragon, she wasn't exactly in a position to decline. Though she knew just how terrible the creatures were, she didn't have the heart to tell her partner otherwise. The sooner this job got done the better, because being frank, this desert sun was doing a number on her; though her hat kept her face from getting sunburned, so least there was that. With rifle in hand, she had made her way to the site, using the flare from her partner to track down to their location.

Unlike the other woman, Alana did not have the same gifts, as she slung the rifle over her shoulder and climbed down with her hands. She could only hope that her partner wasn't totally green. "Howdy down there!" Alana called out, as she stopped shortly as she began her descent down, looking down to woman, before continuing to move on down. A few of the rocks gave way under her weight, though Alana didn't slip, rather just gave pause, waited for the commotion to end, and continued on down til she was level with her companion. Jumping down, Alana rolled her shoulders, then snatched up her rifle and flipped the safety off. "Name's Alana, and who might you be?" She asked with that country twang she had refused to give up. The woman reminded her a tad bit of her sister, but it was pretty clear it was just a resemblance; Astra's hair had a touch of gold to it after all.

Syrin turned and looked up towards the canyon after hearing someone. She assumed the person was her partner for the job, and she impatiently waited for her to climb down the canyon. Some of the rocks would get close to hitting Syrin, but she would wave them away before they got close. She couldn't even imagine how tedious life is for those who can't use the force.

Up close, the girl seemed rather impressive.; she was quite the beauty. Syrin was also somewhat surprised in the similarity of their hair color, though she felt skeptical of how useful the blaster rifle would be. "Voss, Syrin Voss. I hope the rife is more than just an aesthetic." Syrin said sarcastically. Her resting bitch face was on display, though she wasn't really aware of it. "As you should already know, we have to head out into those sand dunes to hunt down whatever a Krayt Dragon is. Don't get lost." Syrin cracked her back and began walking into the desert wasteland. She was exactly sure how to find a Krayt Dragon, she only did some minor research beforehand.

Alana felt even more off put by the resemblance the woman bore to Astra. Again, the hair color was off, as was the scar, but it was uncanny like. Least with this girl Alana didn't have to worry about being the victim of a tickle assault for making a backhanded comment; least she hoped not, this was definitely not the place for that. Alana gave the woman a simple raise of the eyebrow at the comment about her rifle, yea it wasn't much, but she could at least do some work on their target if and when it arrived; though if it was Krayt dragon they were after, well that could represent an issue. "Well Ms. Voss, I'll have you know I can make this baby do whatever needs to be done." Alana smiled, tipping her hat at her compatriot.

The bitch face didn't phase Alana none, as Astra had a far more intimidating and ugly face than this woman; though it was a valid attempt, she would give the woman that much. "If we're hunting Krayt Dragons lady, I should warn you that we aren't exactly 'packing' as the saying goes. Those little bastards are nasty let me tell you." Alana got in step with her new partner, feeling a tad nervious as she could only think about the size of the dragon they might run across. Hopefully it would be a young one, Alana had heard tales about the elder dragons taking out star ships.

Syrin couldn't help but chuckle when Alana referred to them as little. She knew Alana was most likely being sarcastic, but it was a funny thought nonetheless. Syrin only did some minor research on the exact Krayt Dragon they were hunting, and the results were quite surprising. "Our employer wants us to find a Greater Krayt Dragon. Not quite sure if those things still even exist, but I heard they can be around a hundred meters long." Her tone sounded laid-back, she was getting slightly comfortable with her partner.

One hundred meters was an enormous size, though Syrin didn't seem to fear it. Her life hunting creatures in dark swamps taught her one important thing: beasts are still beasts no matter their appearance, and any sentient being should be able to take down a simple-minded creature. However, Syrin had a hard time thinking of the best possible method of killing such a beast with ease, but she knew it was possible for Tusken Raiders would hunt down Krayt Dragons as a tradition. The main weakness she saw with the beast is that it's a reptile, which means its cold-blooded. Syrin could attempt to use cryokinesis to kill it, but she knew she wasn't strong enough to sap enough heat from such a massive creature. Their best bet was to find a vital point on the beast and then freeze it.

Heat waves and sand was the only thing to be seen in the distance. The sun wasn't kind today, but luckily Syrin used sunscreen beforehand. After walking into the wasteland for about an hour, she figured it was time to set up the contraption. Syrin pulled out a strange device from her pouch and turned to Alana "Right here should do. This device will transmit signals through the ground to try and attract the Krayt Dragon, but I'm unsure of how well it will actually work. We could be here for a while." As she spoke she walked about 10 feet away from where they originally stopped and began setting up the device. It had two metal prongs on the bottom, an antenna, and two dials to set frequencies. Syrin wasn't well-versed in technology, but she assumed the metal prongs would vibrate a specific way to create sound waves within the ground. She set the needed frequencies and backed away from the device.
