Why Farm Tools?

[Tobian Solaris]

Sitting in one of the seats of the shuttle that will be taking him and his partner Lieutenant Frey to Nez Peron to investigate what is causing civil unrest on the planet. So far all the two has found out that farming tools are being stolen from farmers. Each theft case has resulted in spikes of protesting. The officer of course understood why the farmers are upset about their tools being stolen, but couldn't understand why the blame is being laid at the Empire's feet.

Dressed in his standard uniform with his civilian clothing packed in a bag next to him on the floor. Tobian figured that meeting the government and law enforcement personel in uniform will show them exactly who is in charge right now. And.. He wanted some fun with scaring the living daylights out of the government and law enforcement officials. The proceedings will be fairly simple. Upon their arrival, the pair will meet with the officials to hear from them what is going on. Then they will proceed from there how the pair sees fit.

But for now it is getting through the long flight to the planet that will test the two officers first. Though they are making good time and should be arriving in roughly ten to twenty minutes. That is according to the pilot though, not the Kuatian guessing how much longer the flight will be. The man sighed softly as he glanced over to his comrade, "Watch the pilot is going to get our arrival time wrong again.." He stated remembering this is the exact same pilot who delayed his and Warden Taes arrival on Botajef that one time.

[Titus Frey]

Titus sat across from Tobian, his fellow officer, head against the wall, eyes closed. He was wearing his armour minus the shoulder pads, knee pads, and helmet, concealed beneath his long coat Uniform, those pieces of his armour along with his rifle and other essentials that were not equipped on him lay next to him in a duffle bag. The armour under his uniform wouldnt be that apperant to anyone not actively looking for it and looking well. They werent supposed to give the sense of panic that armour might do, but Titus suspected some foul play and thought it smarter to wear it, besides, it gave him a sense of security.

Titus chuckled at Tobian's comment and opened his eyes. "If we are late we can certainly turn it into a sort of power move being military and all, better that than implying we're tardy"

"This time yes we can come up with an excuse. But.. The last time he almost gave a wanted criminal the chance to get away.. If he had the brains to know me and Warden Taes were coming after him that is." Tobian chuckled a bit, remembering how shocked the criminal was when the two found where he was hiding in the nightclub. Perhaps being a bit late won't hurt as it will keep those they are meeting with on their toes.

Stretching his arms a bit for a second, the Kuatian pulled out his datapad from his bag. Deciding to do a little bit of his report while he had a chance to do so. Mostly about the flight over and his grading on their pilot giving how thorough the higher ups expect the reports to be.

The shuttle co-pilot stepped over to the two officers, "Sir. We will be arriving in about ten minutes." He told them then hurried back into the cockpit.

Tobian shruggled, "Hopefully he is correct on that." He said putting his datapad away. He hated the flights from one location to the next. Tobian always finds them to be incredibly boring during long flights like this one.

"Fair enough, seemed to work out though" Titus retorted with a smile. What an interesting life his partner had lead, well, hopefully his would put him in interesting places too eventually. The co-pilot came in and gave them the 10 minutes notice.

"If youre that concerned Tobian next time I'll fly, see if its the pilot or the shuttle" He quipped. He pulled out his datapad and went over the paramaters and section they were investigation again, this one had had the most rampant unrest and the highest reports of stolen tools. Blasted authorities hadnt sent them information regarding who their contact would be when they arrived. No matter, theyd sort that out quickly, and truthfully it hardly mattered.

Tobian shrugged, "Considering that we still got him. Yes. It all still worked out in the end." The officer agreed. He had hoped that after the pilot was chewed out the last time that he had learned. But it appeared that it was either the pilot or the shuttle that is the problem.

He looked across to his partner, "No. I am not that concerned. Perhaps it is just the luck of the draw we will be a bit late.." That was not the only problem though. They haven't been notified as to whom will be meeting them on the landing pad, "There is no need for you to concern yourself about the pilot's job. He will get himself or his shuttle sorted out. Eventually." With that last word his Kuatian accent peeked through as he looked out the window as the ship came out of lightspeed. The planet that came into view was similar in appearance to Kuat, "Looks like the pilot was off a bit.. By six minutes." Tobian said as he sealed up his bag contsining his other clothing and weapons including the lightsaber.

Titus nodded "It would seem that he's starting to learn." He said glancing out the window as the shuttle started its approach, he did a last weapons check on his equipment before pulling himself to his feat and grabbing one of the straps hanging from the cieling as he turned to face the ramp. He could feel the shuttle entering the atmosphere.

It was time to work for a living

Tobian went through his bag to make sure all of his gear and weapons are present. Which they were so he sealed the bag up. Standig up he grabbed onto the strap hanging from the ceiling as the shuttle entered the atmosphere, shouldering his bag the officer looked out the window, "Yes. He is starting to learn now." He agreed quietly, watching as the landing pad rapidly came into view.

Feeling the ship level out followed by a low thump. The officer knew that they had landed. So he let go of the strap, making his way over to the door, "Hopefully us being a tad bit late is the only problem we will have for today." He told Titus as the door opened and the ramp lowered with a soft hiss. The Kuatian looked around as he descended down the short ramp, noting the platforms are not that busy at all. He then caught someone running over to them, "I bet he is our contact." He spoke softly as the fancy dressed government official ran over to them.

"Oh thank goodness you are here safe and sound sirs." The official said with a heavy pant, "I'm Zak and I will be taking you to your apartment. Then when you are refreshed I will be taking you to the meeting room where you will have the meeting with the chancellor and other officials." The man straightened himself, placing a hand on his chest as he caught his breath.

Tobian cocked an eyebrow for a moment as he studied the man standing before the two officers. It seemed that the people they are meeting with are not ready for them. The lieutenant nodded looking at Zak confused, "I thought it was that we were to meet with everyone as soon as we got here. What is with the delay?" He asked curiously.

"W-well.. There has been a situation and the Chancellor thought that perhaps this time more details can be gathered and presented. Now please follow me." Zak said anxiously as he started to walk away from the two of them. Tobian looked to his comrade then shrugged. Following the official, Tobian glanced to Titus, "A bit strange don't you think? If there was such a situation they would have more security." He said quietly as the official led them to a waiting speeder.

"If wishes were truth my friend..." He said as the shuttle bay door hissed open and the ramp extended forward. Titus picked up his duffle and with his left arm and followed forward to meet the pompus official before them, or rather, less so, considering his attitude. The story the official presented didnt entirely seem to be adding up to Titus, if there was a 'situation' as the man claimed how could the chancellor be aquireing additional details, especially ones that werent already archived? While it was possible that this situation may have to do with their investigation he found two things made that odd, firstly the improbablity that the chancellor would be dealing with a situation related to their visit immediatly upon their arrival, and secondly that the chancellor might attempt to prempt their investigation by attempting to aquire that information before him or Tobian had had a chance to examine it themselves.

"Would you care to elaborate on this 'Situation' that the chancellor is dealing with? If its so serious then perhaps it would be best that we are informed and potentially assist him with this situation" Titus said evenly, walking at a slightly slower than average pace. HE wasnt sure he felt entirely comfterable entering that speeder with this supposed official without further information.

The Kuatian didn't believe what he was hearing either. Chancellors of any planet or territory wide government directly deal with such things. Not at this level of civil unrest. His pace slowed down as well to meet that of his companion's. His eyes narrowing as the official came to a stop at the speeder.

"Just before you arrived another protest broke out. Worse than the previous one. The chancellor wanted to speak directly to them in order to find out what is upsetting them this time." The official explained.

Tobian shook his head, "Wait a minute. If it is worse than the last protest. Then why would he foolishly put himself in harms way? And why weren't we notified?" He watched as the official struggled to answer his questions. Now being suspicious of the official, not believing someone as high ranking as him would have issues answering such questions. Tobian looked to Titus then back to the official when he felt that there was something very off. He pulled Titus to the side so that they were out of their host's hearing capabilities, "We should secure a speeder of our own. I am not believing this guy at all. No one should have problems answering questions. On top of that. Nothing he has said makes any sense."

Titus stopped dead when the 'official' said that a worse protest had broken out. His brows furrowed and his hand twitched. He moved with Tobian as he pulled him aside but did not take his eyes off the official for a moment.
"I agree my friend, but if you would give me just a moment..." He said trailing off before walking towards the official again.

He Cleared his throat, "Zak was it? Would you mind very much showing me your ID papers and Government issued pass cards?" Hiss tone was a mix between curiosity and dead seriousness and he was ready to grab the man or react at a moments notice should he do anything sudden or overly suspicious.

Tobian nodded as his companion told him to give the other officer a moment. Keeping his gaze on the official, his left hand went to his pistol. He is half expecting the possibility of them being ambushed. The officer glanced around quickly to make sure that there was nothing out of place, nor anyone else approaching the three of them.

Zak hesitated but nodded, "Yes.. Of course." The man went about to look for his papers and passes. But he seemed to Tobian to have neither of what Titus requested or he lost them. But with any important documents, that is something that should never be misplaced. Plus if he is a government official, he failed to ask for the same documents from the two officers.

Keeping his hand on his pistol, Tobian stepped over to his comrade and the official. He was starting to think that this man is not who or what he says he is. As the 'official' failed to produce the papers and pass, Tobian moved to stand behind him, cutting off access to the speeder, "Where are the documents Zak?" He asked harshly.

"It is strange. I just had them. I swear!" The official said as he went through his documents again that were kept on his datapad. Tobian shook his head clearly believing the official is a fraud. Especially when in the distance he saw not one but two speeders approaching with an escort.

Titus sighed and shook his head. "Well Zak, given the suspicous behaviour and inability to produce the required documents We are going to have place you under arrest for impersonating a government official and obstruction of an Imperial Investigation. If you arent lying then this will just be a mild inconvinience for you. How ever if you are things will not be pleasant for you." He said placing a firm hand on the mans arm as he reached for a pair of cuffs on his belt.

Today was not going as planned and it frustrated him, one thing at a time though, they would get to the bottom of this.

Zak tried to make a break for it after looking back at Titus knowing that he had been caught red handed. He tried to run to his right but Tobian got him in a grapple that will be difficult to get out of. Which he tried but only got the Lieutenant restraining his arms as a result as he changed the grapple. One arm around his neck while the other restrained the 'official's' arms. Tobian kept the man restrained, "Looks like we can add resisting arrest, and attempting to kidnap to the list as well." He told Titus and Zak. The officer was done playing games, and it is clear now that this man is impersonating a government official.

Just as then the real official that was supposed to meet them arrived on the scene. He signalled for his security escort to secure the perimeter, "What is going on here?" He inquired as he looked at the two Imperial officers.

Tobian looked to Titus, "He tried to pass off as a government official. We will explain the rest later." He stated as he waited for his comrade to place the cuffs on their new prisoner.

"Of course. But first you two will have to show me your papers and passes." The real official told the two of them. Crossing his arms over his chest.

Titus didnt let go as the man tried to run and was subsequently grappled, as a result he was pulled to the ground as well, causing him to roll a few feet before landing on one knee, a hand on the ground which quickly then shot up and drew his blaster aiming it at the man. "I wouldnt try anything like that again" He said menecingly as he got up, picked up the cuffs and went to cuff the man. As Tobian got off to talk to the two real officials now that the imposter was cuffed, he searched the man for any objects and weapons and after removing them, hoisted the man up to his feet with a blaster pointed at his back.

"This man has wasted what patience we had, Id produce your papers quickly gentlemen" Titus said evenly, a quiet rumble in his voice. He did not like being played for a fool.

The two officials looked at both Titus and Tobian, they must have been able to see on the two men that their patience has run out because all of their documents were quickly handed over to Tobian. Taking the documents he stepped away from the two officials as he looked over them. Checking to make sure none of it was forged he checked the logs in his datapad for the seal and other information he needed, "Looks like the real thing to me.. Everything is there. Perhaps to make sure since this is more of your area Titus. Perhaps you should take a look as well." He placed a firm grip on their prisoner's arm so that Titus can take the documents he is holding in his other hand.

"We will need to see your documents as well sir." One of the two officials said firmly.

"You will see our documents the moment that we know we are not going to be fooled again." Tobian snapped impatiently at the official that spoke up. Not impatience due to Titus examining the documents, but the fact that they have lost valuable time.

Titus pulled out a small military ID chip which was standard issue for quick verification and tossed it to one of the officials as he looked over their paperwork once the prisoner had been handed off. If they tried anything Titus knew that between him and Tobian, they had accurate and itchy enough trigger fingers to stop them from doing anything stupid.

He spent a solid coulple minutes going over every detail, pulling out a small datastick to search for evidence of tampering or falsified credientials of any sort, and after he was thuroughly satisfied, removed the chip and handed the datapad back while recieving his own military chip back.

"Everything seems to in order as far as crediantials and documentation is concerned. Now, if youre done checking our credentials I should very much like to move this along, We need a full report and we have a prisoner to interrogate before we can even start with the investigation proper." He says pausing for a moment.

"While you're here actually, call someone to impound that speeder, I want it thuroughly searched, perhaps we might be able to glean some information from its records or anything else inside the speeder."

After he had the imposter secure in his grasp, Tobian tossed his military ID chip to the same official Titus tossed his to. The officer kept a close watch on the two officials as well as the security that were stationed at the perimeter. Keeping a close eye out for suspicious activity. He was not too worried since the both of them have official military training and thanks to thare far more accurate than the security the two government officials brought with them. If things went south with these two officials, Titus and Tobian can easily stand their ground.

With two highly trained soldiers it would be beyond stupid for them to try anything. Much was expressed when one of the guards moved a few steps closer, earning a wadning glance from the Kuatian. The guard stepped away quickly. The officer looked to Titus as the man spoke up, making it more than clear to the officials who is in charge right now. The two officials looked to Tobian, "Hey. Just do as he says. If it were me speaking to you I will be saying the same thing. Now get on with it. We don't have all day and our superiors are in fact expecting us to report to them by the end of the day to hear what we have found out."

One of the officials looked to the other, "Let's do as they say. We have enough problems and I don't want a sith to be in our presense." He stated. The other nodded, getting a communicator out of his pocket as he stepped away. The other turned back to the two Imperials, "I'm terribly sorry for the confusion." He tossed the id chips to Titus since he was the closest out of the two officers. A security guard came over and took over securing the prisoner from Tobian. Who in turn reached into his bag for his lightsaber and secured it to his belt. More like an attempt to get things moving quicker without threatening to have a sith knight or master called in to help with the investigation. The two officers have a lot to do with superiors expecting a report soon, so it is important that things start moving. Quickly. Which seemed to work because the two officials got down to getting the speeder impounded and the prisoner taken care of quicker, and therefore them able to head over to the meeting place sooner than later. Though it was still a bit of a wait. But it all atill got done in a timely matter. Which meant time will be in the two officer's favor again.

"I will personally take you to where the imposter is being held and the speeder impounded after the meeting." The first official said, "I am Demetri and my assistant here is Kyle." He stated in introduction as he led the way to the speeder the officials and officers will be taking. Following the officials, Tobian placed his lightsaber back into his.bag, suppressing a chuckle as the assistant official looked at the Kuatian confused when he no longer saw the lightsaber on his belt.

"Good call," Titus said to the two officials in an exasperated tone when they agreed to his demands, "I appreciate that Demetri, though you may dispense with the pleasantries, as My Partner Lietenant Solaris said, he have our own reports to make and we've already lost a precious amount of time" He said as he handed Tobian his chip back before moving to his duffle which lay slumped on the ground and picking it up and re-holstering his blaster.

He then turned around and followed the group to the speeder, climbing in after Tobian. "For now, what can you tell us about the situation, specifically anything that wasnt in official reports, we've read those already"

As the assistant drove the speeder, the official started to explain to Titus and Tobian what has been going on, "I have to say it is a strange case Lieutenant Frey and Lieutenant Solaris. Someone has been stealing tools from farmers including heavy machinary and sometimes crops.. Then laying blame at either our government and the Sith or laying all the blame at the Empire. At first it was small theft but it has since then gotten bigger each time. And when we proved that our government wasn't ordering the theft. Well the criminal stated through newsfeeds that the Sith ordered the thefts since the start." The official paused for a second, "I say after the third theft case, of the big ones, the protesting started. After each theft the protests happen again, each bigger than the last.. And more violent." The official sighed, "And that imposter is nothing new. Civilians have reported men and women posing as some level of governmenf official, law enforcement and other departments of work." The man then turned in his seat to face the two officers, "Now tell me..is the Empire ordering the thefts?"

Tobian looked at the man not wanting to believe what he is hearing. It sounded like whoever was commiting the crimes was using the Sith and the Empire as a scapegoat, "No. No such orders have ever come from The Empress, The Dark Lord nor from any of our superiors." The Kuatian stated firmly, crossing his arms over his chest, "There is no reason for such an order at all since your civilians have been good citizens of the Empire despite their distrust of the Sith. And even if there was a reason for the order, it would not have been given."

Titus nodded along in agreement, "Besides that, what use could we possibly have for farming equipment, and even if we did have need, we have production facilities more than capable of making it, we wouldnt need to steal it, or even requisition it which would be the proper procedure if we did need it. I'll be honest though, it sounds as though your enforment procedures may have been lacking for it to get this far." Titus responded, albiet mildly defensively, he'd left one army for another, and truthfully would not allow himself to believe that it would go so far for something so insignificant to its goals.

"Regardless, it sounds like this is coordinated both for profit and to cause dissent. We should start with the prisoner, we'll get more immediate information out of him than going knocking on farm doors."
