Dumaagorn waited patiently on Cyrillia for the one who would join him. Shaw Amaris, a popular human he had met once at a Jedi social event, one the Orcalon rather enjoyed. And yet now it was to the more serious business. Attempting to stop a exceptionally brutal slavery ring lead by a Dug...A particularly savage and sadistic dug called Paswus Ngonsura from exploiting a group of vulnerable teenagers and younger, transporting them into a life of slavery and bondage. It was not something Duma would allow, it was like the same evil he was seeking to end even as he tried connecting more with nature and the wild.

He had felt a calling to stop them.

To help those who were innocent and teenagers like himself, even if he was twice their size. None deserved what was in store.

The Dug was held up in a large warehouse, with dealings in illegal fights, gambling, underage dancers and all manner of activities. He was apparently insulated by supplying the Hutts with slaves so far and the two young Jedi had been assigned to try and find a way to get the teenagers and kids out without alerting the Hutts, and bringing Paswus Ngonsura in to face justice for his crimes. Duma was playing the part of a enforcer for now as his cover, although he didn't like it. It was what fit best for someone his size and physique. Shaw was given the option of his own choice of disguise.

Duma waited at a cafe on the other side of the city, they would make their way from here and decide how to handle the situation.

The accompanying Jedi Knight was on the trail of a notorious dug that he had been tracking for some time now. Shaw got the feeling that there was some personal vendetta that motivated the knight, some unspoken history between he and Paswus Ngonsura, but if there was he wasn't the type to talk about it.

This particular Jedi Knight, a zabrak by the name of Trempati, was of the old school train of thought that padawans were too soft these days and needed toughening up. Duma and Shaw had already lost count of the amount of times he had said back in my day...

Shaw had never gone undercover, so admittedly he was pretty nervous. Sweaty palms was just the beginning as Knight Trempati slid a pair of stun cuffs onto the teenager's wrists. "Gotta look the part," he shrugged when Shaw gave him a look that clearly said he wasn't sure how to feel about this. "You're supposed to be for sale, remember?" Shaw wasn't sure how he felt about that either.

"Can't we get a bite to eat first?" Shaw asked, but that was a firm no. So what was the point of meeting up at the cafe? An orcolan, a middle-aged man dressed up like a smuggler, and a cuffed teenager walked down the street toward the warehouse. It sounded like the opening line of a bad joke. @Akheron

Duma waited with the patience of a saint as the zabrak, Knight Trempati took forever to arrive and when he did he was suitably grouchy. It reminded him of his grandpa. Grandpa Brokgra. Or as he knew him Groucho. He knew the Knight only by reputation as one of the old school more traditional types shout value on toughening peasants up. He wasn't quite sure how he got stuck with him but it was as it was.

He was glad though he wasn't alone, with Shaw being assigned to with him. Both would no doubt suffer the whole way, in fact they had on the way there. He recalled Shaw as being somehow involved in something that went on at the social but it wasn't important. He glanced up as the two arrived, with Shaw placed in stuncuffs and playing the part of a slave for sale. Which was partly why they were to meet at the cafe. A representative of the Dug was to meet them and access the 'product ' was worth purchasing before his boss saw him for further scrutiny.

Soon enough and the trio were being lead towards the warehouse, Duma was hesitant to ask for a bite himself after the form no. So instead stayed quiet until spoken too. They were soon led down some dark alley, and further into a rough looking part of town with many street rats lurking around eyeballing them. Lookouts no doubt. The eyes and ears of the Dug.

The Weequay banged on the door to the warehouse, with a Gamorrean sticking it's nose out the slot, it's eyes looking at the group suspiciously at least before the Weequay explained he was here with some product for the boss man. The door opened to reveal larger space, with industrial equipment around, passing through they were lead further into the back and a far larger space below ground. Taken to an office, there Sat the Dug surrounded by Twi'lek escorts and credits he was counting up like some kind of kingpin. Yet everyone knew he was just a middleman for someone else with delusions of grandeur.

A protocol droid stood next to him to translate as he spat out a mixture of different words, some were not kind to Shaw.

"Boss Ngonsura says that he is satisfactory, but will not pay your asking price. He feels the product is of a inferior quality to those from his usual supplier and only accepted this meeting as a favour to Varg. He offers 10,000 credits and no more." the droid said mentioning to the Weequay who had been convinced by the Jedi to help or face serious prison time. Meanwhile Duma observed, looking for possible escape routes if it went sour, and gave Shaw a look that said it'll be ok.

Although he wasn't certain at all. He sure hoped the zabrak Knight, Trempati knew what he was doing.

Shaw had never felt so out of place, stuck between another padawan pretending to be an enforcer and a grouchy Jedi Knight pretending to be a smuggler while a greedy slave trader eyed him up and down like he was a piece of meat hanging from a butcher shop window. A thick layer of cigarra smoke hung over the cramped office. There were several DUM-series droids running all over the place. One of them kept running headfirst into Shaw's leg, photoreceptor colliding with the teenager's knee. It would definitely leave a mark, but if that was the worst Shaw suffered this mission he would consider himself lucky.

"Ngonsura says that he is sorry," the droid would translate for the dug, who was grinning at Shaw through a row of yellow teeth. He didn't look a bit sorry. "That he likes to tinker with them in his spare time. That it is so hard to find good help these days. Though, he says, that would you know all about that since you are here." As if Shaw didn't already feel uncomfortable.

Knight Trempati fidgeted impatiently beside the padawans. "Fine. If that's your best offer."

"Ten thousand credits!?" Shaw blurted out, mouth falling open and brown eyes wide. "I'm worth ten thousand credits!?" Had he missed something? That couldn't be right. That didn't sound right. He exchanged a look with Duma, but the knight smacked him on the arm to shut up.

"Excellent," the translator droid would speak up again. The dug waved his hands...feet? Shaw couldn't tell. Anyway, he waved it at the weequay, giving the order for his newest 'purchase' to be taken away. The Jedi Knight would slip Duma the keys to the stun cuffs. Shaw glanced between both of them. Was... was this part of the plan? It was all happening so fast. @Akheron

Duma could see the obvious discomfort upon Shaw. Although he couldn't blame him, his position was a precarious one and he was very obviously out of place. He didn't envy it. Tell way the dug kept looking at Shaw was very disconcerting, almost like he wanted to do unspeakable things he could hardly imagine. Such were telling rumours coming from this place about what went on. The dug was known to enjoy torture for no other reason than pure enjoyment.

Duma stayed silent and listened as he droid translated. The Orcalon felt a pang of sadness for what Shaw was going through and mild annoyance at the Jedi Knight. He didn't much like him but put up with him. Not by choice though. Perhaps they could find a way to play a prank on him when they got back. As two Knight fidgeted, it caught the attention briefly of the dug, who got suspicious.

The droid translated "Ngonsura says why are you so nervous when we are all friends here. He asks you to relax."

As Shaw exchanged a look Duma looked back as if to say yeah. This is awkward. He was worth twice that, at least he thought so had he been in that business. As the droid spoke again and the deal was done, Duma quickly slipped a hand to receive the keys. Luckily the dug got distracted eating something as the Jedi Knight slipped them to him.

As he was eating, sending spit on all three he spoke and the droid translated, to the disgust internally of Duma, he gave a look to Shaw as if to say. Did that really just happen? Did he just spit on them.

"Ngonsura says the brute can take him to the cages below. Another brute outside the office will join him and help the transfer while paperwork is sorted up here and credits are transferred. He says any funny business and everyone dies."

Duma wasn't particularly amused. Both with the spitting or being called a 'brute'. He was the furthest from it. He gave Shaw a look that said 'charming'. Moments later and Duma was outside next to a Gamorrean who looked miniscule by comparison. It was like comparing a ogre to a troll. As they walked, Duma sneakily undid the cuffs, loosening them. Yet kept them on to keep up appearances until they were out of sight of the Dug and could slip away. Well once they found a way to get rid of the escort.

Luckily there was a large dumpster. It gave him an idea.

When finally below and as Shaw was about to be put inside, Duma gave the Gamorrean a large bump on the noggin, his large hand dazing him unconscious before sticking the Gammorean inside the dumpster. He didn't like doing it but it was the only way. The smell briefly making him gag as he spoke to Shaw "This smells worse than a soiled pair of underwear my grandpa once made me wash."

Now free, he looked around, hoping no-one saw that as the two ducked for cover to avoid being found out. Not a easy task when Duma was so tall and stood out like a large green giant.

Right before they reached the holding cells Duma took care of their gamorrean escort. Just in the nick of time! "Thanks, dude," Shaw said, giving the orcolan a grateful nod as he slipped out of the stun cuffs. He wouldn't get rid of them, slipping them through his belt just in case he needed them. Just because he was out of the cuffs didn't mean they were out of the woods yet. This place was still crawling with enforcers provided to Ngonsura by the hutt cartels, his favorite employers. "I owe you one." The list of people that Shaw owed was getting pretty long these days.

Leaning over the side of the dumpster and fiddling around for a moment or two, Shaw would pop back up with an old fashioned key ring in hand. The cartels hadn't sunk that many credits into this place. What could you expect? It was a refurbished warehouse. So of course it didn't have anything fancy like key cards and electronic locks. "Got the keys!"

Now to free as many of the prisoners as possible. Knight Trempati hadn't been too forthcoming in regards to the objective of this mission, but that was one thing they could all agree on. Free the prisoners. Shaw threw open the door to the holding cells, expecting he and Duma to have a fight on their hands, but there were no guards. Just countless pairs of frightened eyes staring back at the Jedi from between cell bars. It was a sobering sight.

Shaw swallowed. They had to hurry. Just because there were no guards at the moment didn't mean they wouldn't be back soon. "I'll take right, you take left!" he said to Duma, approaching the first cell and slipping a key into the lock. "Is there a back way out of this place?" he asked aloud. @Akheron

Duma nodded in return as he spoke, he hoped Shaw would have done the same for him if the situation had been reversed. He couldn't imagine the life some of the slaves locked up had gone through already or for how long they had been going through it here. It was a awful thought to consider and all the more reason to shut the operation down. Although Duma knew even with Shaw free and the Knight talking, there wasn't alot of time before the dug got suspicious. Especially with the missing Gamorrean and soon to be empty cages.

"No problem, I don't leave a friend in need." he said , with a small smile.

The Orcalon looked puzzled for a moment as Shaw dug about in the rubbish, while he held his nose trying to avoid gagging from the smell of rubbish that hadn't been emptied in a few weeks. As he returned from inside with a key ring and approached the cages, Duma gave a nod of understanding. Only then did he understand why. Although he hoped he had a shower or several when he got back or the dorms would smell for weeks just like the dumpster and no doubt Shaw wanted to be known as 'The Dumpster Kid' which apparently had been the fate of another padawan, Larry at one time who lived in dorm 31. It had stunk out the entire forms for a month before it was fixed the rumour was.

A silent prayer was made for dear Larry. He doubted it was something Shaw wanted.

"Great, good job, now to free them." he responded with a smile. Happy they were freeing the trapped.

Duma prepared himself as the cage doors opened, expecting alarms and a fight. Not something he liked doing, but he would have. And they probably deserved a good clobbering anyways. Looking at the young formerly caged kids, and some older adults who stepped forwards, Duma was reminded why they were Jedi. At least in part. To prevent situations like this from going on, and defend the helpless who could not defend themselves. It made him more determined, after seeing the sight for himself of the affects of slavery before him.

Duma also knew they had to be fast, despite how fearful some of them appeared when looking at him. Mostly due to his immense size towering over them. It really did look like a giant, ready to squash them. But he would do no such thing. He wasn't a ogre like some kids might call him. Indeed he had been referred to it once or twice in the past when he first joined the temple on Tukadana.

But he had since made friends and proved he was far from a beast. That he was kind, gentle and generally wanted what was best for the galaxy and others.

Duma nodded as Shaw went right, and he went left. As Shaw questioned, an elder man near the back of the group, who appeared to been here a while in as punishment of some kind, and helped by others stepped to the front. His beard was long, near hitting the floor.

"I can help you. I saw a few guards often go back there." he pointed towards a narrow stairway by the very back of the warehouse and a narrow stairway beyond that went down and out, a more secure area. There were a few more cameras and security, but it was the only way and safer than the front door. "Although I heard say the Dug has a secret escape passage around here somewhere. Just need to find the crate with a symbol of Sebulba podracer on it. His a big fan of the old legend going by talk."

He took a breath and continued "I heard it was somewhere near here. By the right aisle and left. Are you here for us? Will you take us with you?" he inquired.

Meanwhile, Duma was told a similar series of answers by one in the cage he opened. Soon convincing the group to go with him and freedom, he returned to Shaw. Attempting to keep everyone quiet. Although it was proving a challenge with the younger kids in tow, who sometimes stopped after being distracted seeing something they liked and needing an adult to get them moving again.

"So what you find out?" Duma inquired with Shaw, hoping he had success with what he was doing. He knew it wouldn't be long before the Dug came to look and the Jedi Knight would have to intervene.

"That old man said there's a secret passageway around here somewhere," Shaw answered the other padawan as soon as Duma approached him, already searching. "Like an underground escape passageway. We could be halfway across the city by the time Ngoo... Ngooo..." Yeah, Shaw couldn't pronounce it and wasn't going to try. "Before the dug realizes his prisoners are gone." Just in the nick of time too. Knight Trempati had gotten word that the prisoners were to be shipped out to the purchasing hutt that very night, hence the last minute and crudely thrown together plan.

Shaw moved boxes around and checked and double checked the sides of crates and ran his hand along the brick walls of the outdated warehouse. "Says there's a podracer on the side..." Nothing. Shaw found nothing, and they were running out of time. A guard could show up any minute and ring the alarm. Then they would be overwhelmed by goons. Shaw had a feeling Trempati was just itching to get a few hits in on these slavers, but their priority was still the safety of the prisoners.

Looked like the fire escape was their only choice. "It's a bust," Shaw sighed, ducking for the fire escape and beckoning for the others to follow. They didn't have time to search out the security office either, and neither padawan had thought to bring a disruptor with them, so they would need to get a bit more creative.

The first one out on the fire escape that led out to the docks at the back of the warehouse, Shaw would spot a single security camera facing their escape route. Blocking out any distractions that might interfere with his focus, Shaw would short circuit the security camera, which cut off its video surveillance.

One by one the prisoners began to shuffle down the stairs, but they weren't out of the clear yet. Two guards had come around the corner, patrolling the parameter of the warehouse and, focused on the security camera, Shaw hadn't spotted them. @Akheron

So ma listened, snickering slightly at mis-pronouncing although he knew it wasn't the easiest to remember and he likely would had the same trouble. But still he found it kind of funny. Especially the way it was said sounded like he was saying 'No go' with an accent. The Orcalpn nodded as the passageway was explained, "Gotcha." He said as he begun filing in the escaped prisoners through the door.

He joined Shaw briefly to try explore some of the boxes but found nothing interesting. Other than a vintage action figure that had the likeness of Luke Skywalker. The man had been a legend as both a Jedi and a Rebel and so he and his friends had become somewhat celebrities. With many figures created, this was a first edition so hard to get hold of. He needed it for the collection in his room and was certain the guards wouldn't miss it. So he snuck it into his current clothes, wrapping the box up. He didn't want to ruin the mint condition and the box which together made the set As he rejoiced Shaw, he was fascinated by the technique.

"That's a neat trick, you'll have to show me how some time." he inquired with a smile, although since he was looking that way, he failed to notice the patrol as well. As they rounded the parameter they saw a bunch of empty cages and one groggy Gammorean in a dumpster. Walking around all suspicious they soon came upon the sight of a convoy of prisoners going out the fire escape and the two padawans caught with a perviable red hand in the cookie jar.

D20: 4

What followed was complete chaos.

The children panicked and started running, the guards tried shouting for help, while the old man grabbed a can of beans from the shelf and launched it at a guards head. That would be sore in the morning, the Orcalon thought. Duma stood perplexed at first, and giving a thumbs up at the old man, until he noted the danger and so tried to usher the prisoners out fast as possible while he used the Force to Push the guards back when one went for a blaster, hopefully giving the two padawans a moment to breath. Although they didn't have much time e with more guards on the away, as another guard manifesto hit the alarm. Upstairs meanwhile the Dug heard something. A loud noise caused by the can of beans come temporary projectile as it hit the guard And then the floor.

And so he went for the door, with the translator droid following close behind "What was that!? Why are 're all the cages empty! Guards! Go see to my merchandise and get it back! Unspoilt if you can!" he called before turning to the Jedi Knight with his eyes glaring "You! Stay there! I have a feeling your the cause of this ruckus. Nothing went wrong before you!"

One minute Duma was complimenting Shaw on his exercise of the force. There had been a time when Shaw never would have thought that day would come, that someone would pat him on the back for his use of the force, but here they were. It was a simple bit of force manipulation actually, nothing too impressive, but Shaw took the compliment as it was intended at face value. "Thanks, dude," Shaw grinned over at the other padawan. So far so good! The prisoners were making their way out of the back of the warehouse, and the only security camera on this side of the building was disabled. "Not a big deal. Just takes a bit of concentration." Something Shaw was still working on.

The next minute a can of beans was flying across the warehouse pavilion. It wasn't just flying. It was soaring. The old man wound up and threw a fast baked bean ball like he was a professional pitcher. Shaw was pretty sure he saw smoke coming off of the can as it hit one of the dug's guards smack dab in the center of the face. The zabrak guard staggered and collapsed face first on the concrete. He was out cold. "DUUUUDE!" Shaw grabbed at one of Duma's arms. "Did you see that!? That was insane!" What had they been feeding that old man? What was he in a past life?

Oh yeah. There was still one more guard to deal with. Shaw could freak out and fanboy over the old man later. The teenager leapt from the fire escape, hit the ground, and rolled, but by the time he had come up Duma had already pushed the second guard back with the force. The orcolan had bought the escaping prisoners just enough time, and they scattered. Now it was just a matter of getting themselves—and Knight Trempati—out of here. Easier said than done as more guards, a real rag tag group of shady looking individuals descended on the padawans. @Akheron

While to Shaw the use of the Force might have seemed insignificant, and not so impressive but to Duma who was somewhat naive to the ways of the galaxy and the Force, it was a great technique. A trick worth learning. He was looking at the movements carefull with everything going smoothly, the prisoners were making their way out like clockwork when something unexpected caught his eye and hell broke loose.

His eyes were drawn as a fan of Speinz brand baked beans went flying past him. And not just flying but zooming like it was a bullet or a blaster bolt. Duma was surprised who had thrown it, an elder man who winded his arm like a first class baseball pitcher and let it loose knocking the guard square in the face, knocking most his teeth out and broke half his face. Duma simply looked with shock as Shaw grabbed his massive arm, exclaiming as he looked dumbfounded. Now he knew never to judge a book by its cover ever again.

The only words he could stummer were "Yeah I saw. It was really cool."

Things only got more insane when he looked at the group of rag tag thugs before them after he had pushed over the second guard. He didn't know why but thinking about the kids, and seeing their faces. The thought of them being locked up and sold...it did something to Duma. And for the brief moment they were in he and the Force were truly one as he focused, not expecting much, but fate and the Force it seemed had other ideas. He did not like violence but saw no choice. He became a whirlwind that struck like a thunderstorm. Guards were Pushed, Pulled and yeeted left, right and all over the place as he and the Force were joined and he was a blur of motion and action when fist met face in front of him. A terrifying sight to behold for the enemy as Orcalon strength and the Force combined and obliterated them. A path soon lay clear before them, with guards broken, battered or laying unconscious around with teeth missing and broken bones for some. It was truly a sight to behold as the green giant entered the zone and exited just as quickly after. A look of shock at what he had accomplished lay across his face.

All he could do was shrug his shoulders at Shaw as if to say, he had absolutely no idea what had just happened or how he did it.The potential within having revealed itself if for but a moment. A moment Shaw, he and the kids all sorely had needed.

There was no lightsaber to fall back on. Knight Trempati had insisted Shaw not bring it since he would be searched and it would be pretty difficult to explain why a teenage slave was in possession of a lightsaber. So Shaw was going to have to do this the old fashioned way. Or, in his case, the new fashioned way. He took one step forward, ready to hit the incoming thugs with every trick up his sleeve, but he stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Duma charging them head on.

Something inside the orcolan had snapped, and he became a blur of green that weaved its way through the enemy. Thugs were dropping like flies right and left. Some of them went hurtling out of frame, dashed against dumpsters or into the side of the warehouse. Others met the end of the orcolan's fist and just crumpled. It was like watching a scene from a superhero movie. Shaw just stood there open mouthed, rooted to the spot and unable to tear his eyes away. If he had been wearing a pair of sunglasses, it would have been a real lower those babies to get a better look moment.

Shaw would just... he would stay here and watch the parameter. Make sure none of the guards chased after the freed prisoners. It never even crossed his mind that they might because—well, Duma had taken care of all of them. Once the last thug had fallen, the orocolan stood there with a shocked look on his face. Like he couldn't believe what he had just done. He and Shaw both.

"BRRROOOO!" Shaw practically squealed, jumping up excitedly to give the other padawan a bro hug, but the orcolan was a lot bigger than him so he ended up just kind of hanging there for a few awkward seconds before dropping back down to the ground. "YOU TOTALLY WENT HULK SMASH ON THOSE GUYS!!" @Akheron

Duma also was left without a lightsaber, although he had wished he had one or was already learning Sign Casting by now. And yet in the end it wasn't needed as his fists and the forfeits the work for him, as he became at Harmony with it if for but the brief moment that it was. As he hulk smashed his way through whatever guards happened to be in the immediate area and blocking the two padawans and escaped prisoners from getting out. Duma was in As much disbelief as Shaw was and as he squealed he let out his own call. More like a bestial roar.

But it wasn't for long, moments later and as Shaw jumped up, and as he was left hanging, Duma grabbed him in the biggest friendly bear hug, still unsure how he had done, only that he had and now the way was clear now. Dropping him back down, Duma finally spoke still in somewhat shock.

"I guess I kind of did, didn't I? But what is a hulk? I not seen that one." he said with a sheepish grin "I don't know what happened or how to explain it. I just delved into the Force and found pure Harmony. I just saw myself and you as one of those kids locked up. saw Theai and the others. Saw what could have been us in any other life...and I didn't want it for them. I don't like violence but...something told me to act but nothing like that."

He looked around "I think we better get out of here before they see the mess Mr Fast Baked Beans over there and I made. I got the feeling our Dug 'friend ' is not going to be happy we just messed up his entire operation."

With that he headed back to the escaped prisoners, attempting to make sure the last got through. Although by now the Dug had arrived, and his face said it all as his men lay strewn about. He even saw one with a trash can stuffed over his head just walking around but couldn't see where he was walking. The Dug looked at the Knight "What in the seven hells have you done to my men! Who are you!" he practically raged at the translation droid.

Shaw gave Duma a pat on the back, adrenaline still racing even though Shaw had just been standing there watching while Duma did all the work. He was like a one man wrecking ball. "Don't worry, dude. I gotchu." Shaw had plenty of comic books to go around. Most of them were scattered across his biohazardous dorm room back on Takodana, but he had to have at least a few incredible green giant comics lying around that Duma could borrow.

The dug arrived on the scene before the padawans could make a break for it and try to catch up with Knight Trempati, but it didn't matter. The knight caught up with them, marching up behind the dug and motioning for Shaw to toss him the pair of stun cuffs. It was a good thing Shaw hadn't tossed them out or misplaced them somewhere. They were right where he had left them, slipped through his belt, so he tossed them to the knight.

Trempati restrained the dug with some difficulty, all while the small time crime boss' translator droid hurled threats and curses at the knight. That was that. The prisoners were free, and Ngonsura was in cuffs. Hopefully full statements from some of the freed prisoners would be enough to put him behind bars for good, but the dug still had connections. He might have been small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, but his ties to at least one prominent hutt crime lord counted for a lot. Maybe the hutt would get him off, maybe he would let Ngonsura take the fall. Only time would tell, and none of that was up to Duma or Shaw. They were just a couple of padawans.

Looking around at all of the unconscious thugs, Knight Trempati actually gave Duma what would pass, at least for him, as an impressed look. "Nicely done," he said, almost nodding. Trempati was old school, and he had a grudge with the dug. Whatever it was. So of course he didn't mind that Duma had forgone negotiations and taken a more aggressive approach. @Akheron
