Truthfully, it had been quite some time since Jaikus had last been to Serenno - or since he had seen Renfry in person. All the same, the Axxilan hadn’t slacked in sending a number of stuffed animals for Arla - even if he hadn’t seen the child since carrying the Empress up that canyon on Moraband.

Of course, that had very little to do with his visit to Serenno. Much had happened in the time since the two Sith had last seen each other - including that entire situation regarding Dantooine, and the diplomatic summit on Glee Anselm. Most importantly, however, was the discussion that he’d had with Emryc in the aftermath of it all. The Axxilan had long-since made his mind up on what his next steps would be, and he had vocalized as much to his fiancee back on Thyferra.

Dantooine had been the straw that broke the Eopie’s back, but Jaikus would’ve been lying to himself if by saying that he hadn’t considered this before. The majority of his life had been dedicated in service to the Empire and the Eternal before it, and yet the Axxilan had consistently lacked any desire to advance within its ranks or take on a more role. His relationship with Emryc - and the risk that would always exist so long as they both served as Sith - was the final motivation for Jaikus to solidify his decision.

As much as he might’ve hoped things to be otherwise, the Axxilan was under no illusions that this wasn’t likely to be a pleasant discussion. He hadn’t the slightest clue how the Dathomirian would react to the decision, and a small part of him couldn’t help but consider the worst. Nevertheless, he considered Renfry a friend and simply abandoning the Empire without a word wasn’t an option. Whatever was waiting for him beyond the doors of the palace, Jaikus would face the consequences of it.

The Eclipse floated down onto the landing platform just outside the entrance of the palace - its durasteel ramp promptly extending down to meet the ground below. Within moments, Jaikus stepped down the ramp - his planned visit having been announced and cleared with security ahead of time. The Axxilan was dressed in his usual style - adorned in a pair of
black dress pants, a matching suit vest and white button-up underneath. His outfit was accessorized with his usual chrono-bracelet combo, while his dark hair was combed and styled neatly into place.

Exhaling a breath through his nostrils, Jaikus began to make his way towards the palace entrance.

Renfry had received Jaikus's request for a meeting, and hadn't really batted an eye at it. Not because she didn't want to see him, but because he was a key performer in the Empire, and a friend as well, which all meant there could have been a million reasons for the meeting. The actual reason for the meeting hadn't even crossed her mind.

She was dressed in her typical daily clothes, a mix of red and black robes with her lightsaber hanging from her belt. She was busy making her own arrangements for various transitions in her life. Moving forces from Dathomir, transitioning various automated resources, and ensuring that everything was prepared. There was a lot to do every day for the Empress, and now more than ever.

Renfry wasn't sitting at at desk but had gone back to her roots. Sitting on the floor of a corner of the palace's entryway, Jaikus would find her plopped in the corner working on a datapad when he entered. Her eyes flicked up and she smiled when she saw him.

Hey! Good to see you! she said, closing her datapad and shoving it in her pocket before pushing herself up to stand.

What brings you out here? she asked.

It didn’t take Jaikus long to spot Renfry - his citrine eyes shifting around the room before settling on the Empress propped against the wall. He couldn’t help but crack a small smile - a far more genuine expression than the usual polite and formal way he handled most people in his life. It was testament to the fact he genuinely considered her a friend and enjoyed her company, despite the awkwardness that still lingered regarding some things.

And it meant he dreaded what was coming next all the more.

He took a step closer to the Dathomirian, his hands casually lingering at his sides. The Axxilan didn’t neglect to greet the woman with a respectful dip of his head and bending at the waist, “My Empress,” He said smoothly, his smile tugging just a hint wider when he rose back up. “It is good to see you too,” His voice a bit more friendly in its tone just then.

The Axxilan took in a breath when she questioned his reason for coming here. There was no dancing around this or small-talk that would lessen the impact of the bomb he intended to drop. So he didn’t attempt to do so. “To speak with you, actually. Directly". He said after a momentary pause, citrine eyes meeting her own without breaking away. “To discuss the Empire, and my continued place in it, in light of everything that has happened recently.”
