For Jon, the mission was simple: investigate the disappearance and find the missing padawan, if at all possible.

For Myrell, there was a bit more to it: all of the above, and keep an eye on Jon. It wasn’t that the Order distrusted the son of legendary gunslinger Preef Kallo exactly, his rise to knight was testament to that, but the habits he’d made as Sector Ranger had a tendency to rear their head still. The Jedi Arbitration Corps had its own methods, and if the two could be similar at times it was vital that the aspiring Justicar learn the proper ones, exhibit irreproachable conduct in the field even in the face of adversity and never stray from the Code.

It made sense, then, that they’d task Myrell with accompanying him. The aging healer had herself been entrusted with Justicar responsibilities for close to a decade, and holding others to a high standard was something of her specialty. Besides medbay management.

“Knight Callo. We exit hyperspace shortly,” she said, finding him somewhere in their unmarked shuttle. “Remember, the Empire holds this planet now. Thanks to the war, I expect a blockade. Subtlety will be required if we are to make it to the padawan at all.”

Aside from them, the shuttle carried an impressive amount of medical supplies from the Jedi and their allies on Bimmiel. Myrell could play the nurse. Jon could be the smuggler capitalizing on the war for credits.

The rest was out of their hands.

Although he had his eyes closed, Jon couldn't seem to catch a moment of rest. The Jedi Order had this trick of meditating and it was supposed to calm your mind of worry. Sometimes Jon thought if he ever succeeded to get into this meditative state that'd be enough for the Order to grant him the rank of master. He was twice-cursed when it came to pacifism. First because rodians had a very strong fight-reflex and secondly because, well.. because of who his father was. There was a yearning in his soul that told him that he had to make amends for the misdeeds of his father.

And yet he was the spitting image of Preef Callo as he opened his eyes to look at the Twi'lek as she reminded him of the difficulties they could be facing today. "Don't worry, Myrell," Jon smiled as he stood to make his way to the cockpit, "many Imperial peacekeepers are former rangers," he words sounded more confident than he felt, "I know how they think."

The Empire had taken control of several planets in the northwestern galaxy that openly expressed their pro-jedi stance. Their invasions had cost many innocent lives and yet the late Emperor had said the Jedi Order was to blame for it. Not a faction to govern, all the jedi had to do was retreat from those worlds and abandon their temples. Today they were to do the exact opposite: bring relief to the innocent victims.

A communication channel was opened the second their unmarked shuttle left hyperspace and it wasn't hard to tell where it originated from: "Look there," Jon pointed ahead of them as he sat down in the pilot's chair, "a pugio-class frigate," which even the jedi knew was one of the Empire's premier patrol vessel to deal with pirate motherships and ambitious smugglers. Its tractor beams were notoriously precise.

<BEEP-BEEP> <BEEP-BEEP>

"This is the Overgrown Bantha, come in-"

"Overgrown Bantha, this is Imperial Navy Ship Trafalgar. Declare your intentions on Bastion."

Jon reached backwards, expecting something to be put in his hand by the more senior Jedi Knight, but when nothing came he turned to Myrell proper, "We have a set of clearance codes, right?"

They did, in fact. Courtesy of the rebels still carrying on the fight for freedom, some of them Jedi, who’d presumably pilfered them from the Empire. Now to hope it was the right kind, that the Empire might forward a smuggler after agreeing on a delivery in advance. The alternative wasn’t exactly enviable. Myrell knew little about ships, but the Pugio-class would quite clearly make short work of their shuttle.

“Here.” And remember the plan, she added in thought. Knowing the Empire, relief for victims was like to have them refused entry.

Overgrown Bantha,” the voice rose again, more impatiently. “Your intentions.”
