Call of Duty 4 is a must buy if you don't already own it.
The same can be said of Oblivion.
StarCraft, also on the subject of RTS games, buy the newest Command and Conquer game.

That will keep you entertained for months.

Also if you plan on having an active internet connection most of the time, buy Warcraft III just to play DotA.

Oblivion is a damn great game for the PC. You'll want the Game of the Year edition, which comes with the Knights of the Nine expansion/content pack and the full expansion, the Shimmering Isles. It's also open source I believe, so the mods out there are amazing.

Starcraft: Battle Chest is a great deal, only about $20 Canadian, and comes with Starcraft and Starcraft: Brood War, it's expansion. This game is the best RTS(Real Time Strategy) you can get, hands down. It's got a learning curve, and the player's out there are damn intense, but it's a great game.

Warcraft III: Battle Chest is also a must buy. By the same people who made Starcraft, it is a continuation of the Warcraft story, but you don't require the previous games to enjoy it. It comes with Warcraft III and Warcraft III: The Frozen Thrones, it's expansion.

I don't suggest World of Warcraft. It's a game that forces you to grind all the way to the high levels before it gets any good, and even then it's the same thing again and again. If you like Lord of the Rings, then I suggest Lord of the Rings Online. Not only do you get to experience Middle-Earth, but I find it has much more appeal to casual MMO'ers, with interesting events taking place across all levels.

Another game you might want to look at is the Sims 2. It's just damn fun.

Stop spreading propaganda about Starcraft. It's getting aggravating saying it's the "best game evar lolz!!!!1" every thread. You say you have SK on your side? I have Russia on mine. Russia's past time is Dawn of War.

Talking about RTS games, Homeworld is good buy. It has a little learning curve, but it's fun and it has a great story. Homeworld Cataclysm is good if you like zombies in space. Homeworld 2 for multiplayer and mods.

You don't have to say it is quote 'the best RTS game' unquote every time you mention it. Just say it is a great game in your opinion.

And also, I just woke up.

I think it's the best RTS game, so I'm going to continue saying it's the best RTS game. Got a problem with it? Guess what, I don't give a rat's ass.

Well, I probably just said that earlier because I just woke up. But it does get aggravating after while, especially since your opinion is outweighed.

He'd have to get a North American copy, Kurt. I believe, anyways. Otherwise he wouldn't be able to get on NA Servers.

Nope. Not as far as I know, as I've played with countless people from the UK. There are only two server types that I know of, and they're US and Oceanic. I can pick either one to play in.

Ah, might be because it's an English speaking country. I know my friend from Germany required a North American copy to play with me.

If you want action/FPS play COD4(Call of Duty 4). One of the best shooters, in my opinoin, and the gameplay is intense online. I've seen some servers with up to 60 people, and it is definetly an all out war.

Also, like many others before me have said, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion(and also someone else said to get the game of the year one, do it.) This game has loads of things to do and the best part is there is almost no boundaries and you can go wherever you feel. (Plus since your buying it for the computer you can dowload some mods and extras if you want to add even more content)

If you like Strategy then try Company of Heroes, or if you want to wait awhile you can get Starcraft II, but just note that it will be pretty expensive(New games probably going up to $60 on comps now a days, but it might be $50, who knows)

All of the games listed, other then Oblivion(tell me if I'm wrong here), have online.

Just to warn you, MMORPG's like WOW(World of Warcraft) and or GW(Guild Wars) and others, tend to have many annoying people who try and ruin the experience for others. And no I don't mean killing you in world pvp, because thats part of the game, but things like continuous spamming, scamming you for your money, and other things will pop up when playing online. Be warned of this because for myself it made the game a lot less exciting when you have this happen to you.

Just my output, and I'm not trying to persuade anyone to thinking those games are better then others, but to me those seem to be the most exciting games on the market, and most played online.
