Something had occurred to Kaldar's devious mind not so long ago: sometimes a hammer worked as well as a scalpel. He was much more in favor of the scalpel in most situations, but rather than worming his way in to make money and do things legitimately, why didn't he just... steal large sums of money?

Really, when it came down to it, you had the planet Coruscant - arguably the wealthiest planet in the galaxy - which had effectively been sacked by Raze's forces and abominations. Law enforcement was so busy trying to keep up with not being eaten that they weren't around to investigate even large end robberies, extortions, or even murders.

It was an unethical man's paradise that was ripe for the picking.

For a job like this, he looked every bit the part of the Sith. His face was concealed by a helmet and he wore Sith robes with a lightsaber hanging from his belt and a stash of computer spikes in his belt. He had traveled to 500 Republica, where the wealthiest citizens had historically lived, and got to work.

He cut his way into the first lavish, luxury apartment and was met with nothing but silence inside. No big surprise, but it made his job easier as he started browsing through personal papers and powering up the dataterminal for his "examination."

This was officially the first time Serene Graves had come to Coruscant. The Sith Champion had volunteered herself to join Kaldar on his excursion, silently promising to not slow the man down or risk being left behind. The planet was far from organized but made it no less dangerous. The threat of abominations were still present even if Darth Raze was dead. Coruscant possessed a resilient populace and attracted the greatest of risk takers so she would not let down her guard.

500 Republic would have looked even more beautiful if the skyline was not dotted with columns of smoke. It betrayed the chaos that still plagued the world. The surface possessed power and infrastructure seemed to remain for the most part. However most of the wise populace had evacuated rather than risk being eaten alive or left to fend for themselves against those that remain.

Serene was far from an adept slicer, however her skill with the Force was undeniable. She had studied the versatility of the power she had at her disposal and came to the conclusion it could be applied in virtually every instance of life. One apartment over from Kaldar, Serene hovered a hand over a terminal and focused her mind on gaining access. The use of technometry was different from the influencing living organisms or material but the woman would become familiar with it in time.

The door hissed open and like its neighbor, was unoccupied. The armored sith was wearing her normal armor though it was daubed in black instead of its previous red. Her helmet's visor coldly passed from ornate decoration to opulent furnishing. At another time she would have liked to enjoy the apartment but for now she was here looking for something valuable. She walked through the apartment, going from room to room until she found the office and the bedroom. She decided to start with the office.

Kaldar wasn't so sure about the Sith with him. She was a follower of the imposter, which meant Kaldar was wary of her, but at the same time, she also was willing to help him rob the wealthy of Coruscant blind. He wasn't normally eager to share, but in this case, there was the added benefit that they had twice as many of them to look for and grab things. It was less about splitting the profits and more about having someone to watch your back.

He looked around the lavish apartment - already half-destroyed - and shoved the data spike into the terminal as it began to hack into the moderate security device.

Well, well, what do we have here? he muttered to himself, letting the device run as he went over to see what his "partner" was up to in the apartment over.

I'm surprised you're here helping me, he said, taking a look through this apartment as if he were browsing a store.

The office was in disarray with empty spaces where valuables used to be. But the desk terminal was still there and powered. She looked to one side of the desk and saw a picture of an ithorian with an akk dog. There was an akk dog paper weight too which Serene took note.

The Sith tapped a few controls on the keyboard and typed in the name of the pet. She rolled her eyes as it said +Access granted+ She judged the previous occupant of the apartment, wherever they were. But then she noticed a button on the underside of the desk, she looked at it with a cocked head and then pressed it after a moment's hesitations.

One of the book cases began to pushed itself back into the wall and then slide to one side, revealing a previously hidden room. "Well hello." She said to herself. She rose from the seat behind the desk as she heard Kaldar entering the apartment.

His voice carried the woman responded in kind with a cool tone. "Why?" The woman kept her cards close to her chest so she was used to people filling in the unknown with their own assumptions. She was curious to hear what Kaldar thought of her.

Kaldar arrived just in time for a hidden room to slide open, and although he wasn't interested in trying to carry out physical goods, he had no doubt there were valuables inside.

He hadn't ever really seen himself as the "looting" type before, but now was as good a time as any. Why make things more difficult for himself.

Her response didn't elaborate at all, and he wasn't going to speculate, so instead, he shrugged. Eh, no reason, he said, opting not to prod the topic further as he peered around the corner and into the hidden room. A second lock was on the door and his head tilted to the side before he pulled out his lightsaber.

No point being subtle, he said, and dug the saber into the door, carving very, very slowly through the durasteel doors. It was like cutting through a ship's blast door, and he could feel the heat radiating off of the metal as it slowly melted away what remained of the door, turning it into slag.

A panic room. Wonder if someone's inside, he said, though as he reached out with the Force, he already knew the answer. Someone was inside. The Ithorian, he presumed. Which meant it was an ideal opportunity to extort him out of everything he owned at the point of a blade. Excellent!

There were all sorts of treasures both material and immaterial that could be found. Serene just expected valuables to reside. Part of the fun was finding a use for new toys. Usually it was the type of information one could use to blackmail another. Otherwise there were bank records, family and friend travel itineraries, all of which could be useful.

From behind her immaculate black helmet she cocked an eyebrow at Kaldar at his response. But the woman would react no more even as the Sith Master opened the room up with the aid of his lightsaber. Serene remained seated, taking in the smell of ozone, burnt metal and the faint scent of fear wafting from the now open panic room.

While Kaldar took the lead on the panic room Serene saw point in being pressed up against the man and risk being hit by a single trap or flame projector. He was perfectly capable of clearing the room on his own. Instead the woman reached a hand out again and flattened it against the screen of the terminal. Her eyes closed as she focused on reading the information on the computer rapidly. Vast swaths of knowledge were gleaned in the blink of an eye but the Champion was searching for something specific, accounts and passwords.

In a brief matter of moments the dark side sorceress had access to the ithorian's messages, financial data, personal interests and more. People hated forgetting their own passwords and often kept them in a file. The low security was easy to bypass in places. To the outer eye the screen would have various windows and symbols open and close, activating and executing all on their own without Serene needing to use the keyboard or cursor.

Pulling her hand away, the woman shivered as she re-acquainted herself with her body. The perception of machines and non-living things was still a new sensation to her. Her eyes flicked to the panic room and her hand curled into a fist. "I have his data, everything on him it seems. Tsk Tsk He's never heard of wiping his browser history." She stood up from the seat finally, allowing Kaldar to take a look for himself if he wished.

Kaldar heard the whimpering sounds of the man inside the panic room and rolled his eyes. Of course, he probably shouldn't have... if he were as weak and powerless as this guy, he'd probably be scared too. But Kaldar didn't fancy letting himself into those situations to begin with, so that was on this fool.

Get out here, he growled, saber in one hand and grabbing the Ithorian with the other and dragging him out before tossing him to the ground. Kaldar wasn't a weakling, but he was no body builder either, but the proper application of the Force could suddenly make him seem much stronger than his muscles normally could manage.

Let's have it or I'll have your head, he growled again, pointing to the terminal that Serene had managed to get open.

Everything you own. Liquify whatever you have to, sell it, and transfer it to this account number, he said, shoving the information across at the man. Through a variety of illicit channels, Kaldar had had a shell bank account set up that could take whatever they managed to steal here today.

Y-yes, I will, the Ithorian said, his head bobbing obediently as he moved over to the terminal and Kaldar stood watch, throwing a glance to Serene and a shrug behind the man's back.

Kaldar's voice and mannerisms shifted to being far from pleasant as he dealt with the Ithorian. The hiding aristocrat was larger than the Sith Master but none-the-less he cowered in the face of the dark siders and their threats. The woman stood back as the wealthy individual went about selling and transferring the funds.

The woman eyed the ithorian closesly, scrutinizing him behind her cold visor. Slowly her head panned back towards the panic room. She took a few slow and deliberate steps towards it. The interior was relatively spacious but there was something amiss the sorceress picked up on. Her eyes returned to the ithorian typing and clicking away. His dark orbs made contact with Serene's visor which made him only hurry back to liquidating his assets.

Entering the panic room, smoke still hanging in the air, she look at the rest of the items inside. There were simple pleasures, supplies. But there were stacks of credits, boxes of jewels and a container of records. One crate however caught Serene's eye. The one marked with a label clearly indicating it was toxic.

The woman placed a hand against the outer case and could tell the contents had a dark purpose. Unlocking and opening the cryogenic box were a series of vials. Scores of clear tubes with a dark green liquid were lined with protective padding and preserved perfectly. Serene examined the substance a bit closer. Small aurebesh letters on the inside of the container read lecepanine.

Serene was not a tall woman but she was no small girl either. Even so, she used both hands to pick up the crate and carry it out of the panic room before setting it down on one of the guest chairs in the office. Taking one of the vials in her gloved hand, the Champion silently drew one of her vibroclaws and apply the poison to its edges. She continued to do so menacingly in the dark as the ithorian finished his job.

When he finished she would pose a question to him. "Why do you have paralysis poison?" She pointed the blade in his direction across the desk. It was an unusual thing to have especially in such quantities. "I..." They hesitated, weighing their options but the presence of two sith convinced him to answer in the end. "...I'm a fence and a fixer of sort...or I used to be. Some people need to sell something recently stolen or need to buy something hard to come by and I get it for them." The wealthy individual was a criminal it seemed. Serene looked to Kaldar wondering what he had in store for the man's future.

Kaldar looked at the woman as she emerged with some sort of box in her hands and began coating her blade with a poison. A paralysis poison if what she said was true.

Kaldar took note of how she coated it over her weapon and maintained a wary and reasonable distance, wondering if she planned to use it on the Ithorian or on him. Probably not on him, but it never hurt to be cautious.

She looked over at him almost as if to query his plans for the Ithorian and Kaldar just gave a vague shrug. It probably would be prudent to kill the man so that it never came back around to them to try to get revenge, but honestly, he didn't have any strong opinions. This man might even be a valuable asset to return to someday in the guise of a regular man.

Actually, Kaldar rather liked that idea, and shook his head vaguely at the other woman, nodding toward the poison to indicate that was what he was saying no to.

He watched over the Ithorian's shoulder as he finished transferring the funds out, and smiled vaguely behind his mask.

Well, it may not be your luckiest day, but at least you're making it out without being gutted like a fish, he said.

The vibroblade was clearly in focus and inactive for now. But the edge glinted slightly with the coating added to it. Serene saw Kaldar's shrug at first. Her hand drew back and in the same motion activated the vibration function of the blade causing it to blur.

The Ithorian yelped and cowered but then Kaldar shook his head making the woman stop in her tracks. The sorceress would deactivate and lower the weapon but keep it at her side for now, allowing the fearful aristocrat a chance to recover. Part of her wanted to test the poison on the ithorian right now to prove its validity but she trusted the fear that came through even the vocabulated tone of the translator he wore.

There were uses for the fence and fixer if what he said was true. Kaldar recognized this and opted to spare his life, at least for the time being. The threat of a future execution or worse was not lost on the contraband curator. The woman waited patiently for the transferring of wealth to conclude. She pulled out her dataphone and took a few pictures of the ithorian and his apartment. Some of it was for intimidation and pragmatic purposes while the champion also desired to keep track of the décor choices. "You have some nice furniture. Did you decorate this place yourself?"

"Uh...no...I have someone for that."

"Of course you do. " She muttered under her breath and sighed nasally. "Well give me their information all the same. I might want to meet them. We might even be neighbors." He had no way of knowing their identities. Everyone the ithorian passed on the street would be a potential threat, a return visit from the Sith. But it also would tell him they had influence in the high reaches of galactic aristocracy. There was nowhere he could go that they would not find him. Plus, who would want to leave such a lap of luxury in the first place. The blade at his neck might be cold but the covers of his bed looked warm.

Kaldar actually snickered when she muttered about the fact that the man didn't buy his own furniture. Well, his life was about to change drastically, although Kaldar had no doubts the man would recover. While they were stealing all of his liquid assets, that was just a fraction of what he no doubt had.

He flicked his head toward the doorway and moved to make an exit back to where his dataspike should be finishing up, heading out whether Serene followed or not. Retrieving the device and transferring the funds to his shell account, he couldn't help but pause as he pocketed it again.

Something's wrong, he said. That familiar tingle snuck up the back of his neck, and although Serene may have been feeling it from the abominations, Kaldar didn't have that feeling as much anymore. This was different.

Someone's coming, we need to get moving, he said in a suddenly hushed and serious tone as he reached into his equipment and pulled his lightsaber hilt out. There was no doubt someone was coming though whether it was a Jedi Knight Errant, local security, or something else, Kaldar wasn't sure yet. What he did know was that it was a threat.

The crate of poison was the primary object which the champion wanted now. But she knew where the ithorian lived and had all of his information in her head and also on a digital copy. The good could be collected later one way or another. "Keep this safe for me. I'll be in touch." She told the cowering fixer as she followed Kaldar.

The interior of the other apartment was just as she expected but she did not follow the man inside. Instead he came back out with probably his own share of spoils. Serene did not expect to share in the money the man acquired. He could for all intents and purposes claim it all for himself and not share any of it.

Her attention turned to the Sith Master as he gave a mildly unsettling warning. Serene waited for him to expand on what it could be but chose to begin extending her awareness outward. Any sense of security quickly evaporated as her instincts for survival took over. Matching Kaldar's movements she unhooked one of her lightsabers.

Serene's breathing slowed as her awareness honed in on what was important. The smug smile that had perpetuated her face was gone and only a serious concentration remained. She felt an approaching presence but waited to see what Kaldar would do. Her weapon remained dormant for now. The decision to fight or flee was unclear but Serene was prepared for either.

Kaldar paused only a few beats more, that familiar flood of adrenaline pouring through him as he took a single breath to steady himself and began to move. He didn't look back to see if Serene was following him.

Halt! Kaldar heard a voice call out from the other end of the hall. The bad thing about blatantly dressing like a Sith was that... well, you were dressed liked a Sith. There wasn't a whole lot else that you could be mistaken for, and that made talking your way out of things much more difficult.

Kaldar turned to face the man at the other end of the hall, and oh boy, did he reek of Jedi. That was all well and good except that he seemed to have several other armed people at his back. If he had to guess, they were some kind of militia that had banded together to hunt the abominations, led by a Jedi.

In other words, if Kaldar had to guess, they weren't people to mess around with. He wasn't in the habit of "trifling" with his enemies, but he also didn't rush head long into situations that could very easily end up badly for him. That was what this was.

Nah, kriff that, he muttered to himself and hit the panel for the doors to one of the side apartments, darting inside and making a beeline for one of the windows. They could scale the outside, he hoped, and make an escape before the Jedi and friends caught up. Not that he actually explained this to Serene. "Team player" weren't words that would be inscribed on Kaldar's tomb stone.

With each passing heartbeat, the sith champion became more tense. When Kaldar moved Serene did likewise. She stopped only when the master reacted to the command of a stranger. Given the pair's circumstances she only had a degree of confidence when it came to facing an enemy on Coruscant.

Kaldar turned to face the apparent jedi and his ragtag band of fighters. The two Sith had a chance to take them down together, maybe even Serene could take them alone. But no, the same instincts that had told her to pull back on Kashyyyk told her she was not ready to take on those odds solo.

The sorceress made similar calculations to her better with only perhaps a greater degree of ignorance. Her experience was lesser than that of Kaldar's but she was no fool. When the fellow dark sider opted to exfiltrate Serene decided to do the same with barely a moment's hesitation.

Serene ran after Kaldar, using a flick of her wrist to seal the door behind them an make the chase a bit more difficult. Several stun bolts flew down the hall through the space the pair had been standing a moment prior but missed them completely. The sound of numerous pairs of boots echoed up the hall which told the two sith the posse hunting them was close behind.

The woman returned her lightsaber to her belt as she came towards the windows. Her hands would be of better use climbing if they were free. The sith master ahead of her seemed to have an idea of where they were heading but she kept trying to think of alternate routes.

Every action Kaldar had made was of no surprise to Serene. They were both sith and she expected nothing less from someone in the dark order. It was nothing she took personally and in fact shared some similarities with Serene's own methods. None the less she did not trust the man and perhaps never would. But that did not mean they could not work well together.

Kaldar was all movement by this point, his lightsaber bursting to life in his hand as he came closer to the window and slashing across it as he turned his head downward, beads of glass bounced off of his helmet, but his eyes were protected as he encased himself in the Force and hurtled through the now-open window.

Of course, 500 Republica was a skyscraper, and while the upper floors may not have been a straight drop to the ground, even the drop to the next ledge down was about 200 feet. He wrapped himself in the Force and slowed his descent downward, hitting the ground running as blaster fire from the window he had just leapt from began raining down. Of course, the Jedi was in hot pursuit, but only some of his militia - who seemed to be wearing jetboots - could follow. Oh, just brilliant.

Knock them off course! he shouted to Serene as some of the men descended. After all, jetboots could be difficult to use, and while they weren't likely to knock out all of the troopers in their descent, even a couple could make a difference.

Serene gave a brief burst telekinetic power from the core of her being as she neared the window after Kaldar. The glass shattered a bit further just before she passed the threshold and prevented any shards or jagged edges from touching her in the process. The woman was wearing an armorweave mesh but did not want to take the chance.

With little hesitation the champion followed suite after the sith master and went over the edge. Her heart was racing now but Serene controlled her impulses and prevented the urge to panic from taking over. The dark side was hers to command. She knew the secrets of bogan it would take more than a two hundred foot fall to kill her. The Force slowed her descent with her robes fluttering around her. Her legs touched the ground but less gracefully than Kaldar. Her body forced to the ground and roll before rising into a run to regain her momentum.

With the risk of death by fall put aside she could focus more on the attackers. Evidently they had given chase and were highly maneuverable. Serene's neck tilted towards the opening the two Sith had just come from and witnessed the neighborhood watch pursue them. It figures that the highest level buildings had some of the best defenders. But now was not the time to admire her enemies taste. She was too busy annoyed they were following them so effectively.

Both of the woman's upper limbs reached towards the sky, beginning with splayed palms that quickly turned to contorted hands as if beseeching the heavens. Two of the ragtag group would be grabbed and slammed together before then being both pushed against the building violently to the point they ragdolled off of the metallic strips they had struck. Their bodies subsequently plummeted.

The Jedi was in the lead, moving at a near free-fall speed until they mirrored the maneuver the Sith Master had made. They were clearly a step in skill above Serene. Still, the do-gooder force sensitive was a slave to their principles and turned to raise both of their hands. They knew they could not leave themselves open for too long but they had to save their comrades from the fall that would kill them. The Jedi Master, or whomever they were slowed their fall as best he could.

Serene took this time to activate a vibroblade with either hand and hurl them into the sky after the remaining jetboot hunters. The weapons spun into the dark sky but were only half meant for the non-force sensitives. Really Serene wanted them in the air and adding to the number of factors for the Jedi to deal with, intending to hit him from multiple angles.

Running forward to close the distance her right hand drew her longer crossguard lightsaber hilt to it before her left hand grasped it in a double grip. She was primarily skilled in vogar and suguraat forms of lightsaber combat but given the opening she performed a simple slash across the Jedi's left thigh with the blazing red blade. It was a fairly shallow strike thanks in part to the master moving nimbly out of the way of a more lethal hit. If it had been just a normal physical sword the thigh wound would probably not have even be bleeding too greatly. But it was an injury none the less and a wound to hinder any further chase.

Kaldar watched the other woman go to town on the Jedi and several of the troopers as well, and he closed in. His lightsaber burst to life in his hands, and he slashed upwards, taking one of the landing men in half at the hips and up through the belly before leaving the other side. In other words, the man was bissected.

Serene managed to land a blow on the Jedi, but the man wasn't out of the fight yet. Sure, they could stay around and kill him and that would probably be great and all, but Kaldar didn't fancy that. If he had to guess, more reinforcements were on their way, and he wasn't sure he wanted to take on the entire resistance movement himself. Although... maybe that would be worth it. It would help stave off Raze's forces being defeated.

Yes, it might be prudent.

Take him alive! he shouted to Serene, hoping she could do that while he deflected the down coming blaster fire from above. The speeder platform! he said, motioning to the area below them where he hoped she could deliver the Jedi.

Of course, whether he would actually make it there alive or not was certainly in question, but it was... well, Kaldar was hopeful.

Kaldar eliminated the other resistance fighters that had made it down. Her thrown weapons arcing through the sky and coming back around as intended. This was just a delay tactic for her. In the long run she wanted to continue running rather than fight all of the denizens of Coruscant too stubborn to leave or to know any better. But she heard Kaldar had other plans and wanted to actually take the Jedi alive. "Will do." She said coldly without taking her eyes off of her opponent.

The energy of her lightsaber crackled in the high altitude air of the skyscraper's roof. The jedi reached for his lightsaber, activating it mid flight to get it between him and his foe as quickly as possible. But the woman had other plans and used he two handed grip to bat the blade aside and advanced.

With the strong hit leaving her injured enemy off balance she deliverer an equally strong kick to the the man's chest. With a lack of armor to protect him the Jedi would receive a few broken bones from the strike and be sent off his feet and onto his back. Just as quickly as the green glowing cylinder of energy appeared from the master's handle so it returned as it rolled away into a corner of the roof.

The master recovered by rolling with the momentum, dodging a follow up swing by the champion but causing him to backpedal all the same. Serene knew to not press the attack any further. Blood splattered the ground as each of her flying vibroblades caught him in on the shoulder and under an arm. Three wounds were marked on the Jedi master and one of them had been laced with the paralysis poison.

Serene brought her lightsaber up to deflect a stray stun bolt. The Jedi tried to capitalize but Serene blocked the hit and made a reposte. The woman needed to wait a moment for the position to set in, then she would be able to move the Jedi against his will. "Someone will need to catch him." She raised her voice to be heard a little better and treating the subject like they were not even there conversationally. The swings were already beginning to become sluggish. With how things had been going she expected Kaldar to jump down first and guide the Jedi down telekinetically unless they were fine risking him falling all the way.

Kaldar was busy with the militia members, and had failed to notice the paralysis blow landed by the Champion. What he did see was that more than a little blood had managed to begin to leak from the man.

Unfortunately, this also meant that when the woman shouted about catching the Jedi, Kaldar had no idea what she was talking about and it was difficult to hear on top of that. They'd just have to yolo it and if the man died... then he died.

Move! he shouted, waving a hand back at her as the blasterfire became thicker. He was only going to be able to cover them both for a few moments more, and he wasn't going to die for it.

Moments later, he launched himself down, dropping to the platform below and hitting the ground before leaping up to one of the speeders and booting it up.

Get in! he shouted, waiting for her to jump in and hopefully throw their captive inside as well... he hoped.

Either way, he would gun it moments later, tearing through the skies of Coruscant as he looked for a place to drop into the bowels of Coruscant's undercity.

The dark sider deactivated her lightsaber, returning it promptly to her belt without ceremony. A heartbeat later the two flying vibroblades were caught in either hand of the champion. Both thrown weapons were deactivated and stowed in a single fluid motion before the wounded master could counter.

Serene braced against an attempted force push that was lackluster, only pushing the woman back a few meters. Reacting in kind, the jedi's own lightsaber pulled towards her grasp. Their hindered senses had no chance of thwarting the uninjured champion. Serene saw her chance to strike and did not hesitate. In a swift motion she lunged forward and promptly severed the lethargic arms at the wrist by the jedi's own green lightsaber. She used the same weapon to ruthlessly bisect both of the master's legs above the knees, cutting away a decent portion of his thighs. With the additional weight removed, the woman would have an easier time carrying the jedi's body.

With all due haste the sorceress affixed the lightsaber to her belt and began running towards the ledge. Turning back she used both hands to lift and throw the Jedi over the ledge. The landing was slightly easier for Serene than the previous fall but it was far less pleasant for the jedi.

Using the adrenaline, the anger at the inconvenience, the danger to her personal wellbeing, all of it, she picked the maimed light sider and obeyed Kaldar. The Jedi still had his arms even if they were severed behind the hands. Even if he was capable of still manipulating the force in this condition his body had fully succumbed to the paralysis poison by then. With an unladylike grunt she hefted the body into the speeder and jumped inside herself.

"In." She signaled the jedi and her were both onboard. It was Kaldar's cue to punch it. But even in their situation she did not tell him what to do. Regardless, the speeder would be fast enough to carry them away from even jetboot wearing resistance fighters.
