Abigail was looking around for an escape, but there was none. The three men were coming closer and closer to her until they heard the distant sound of sirens. Once they took off, Abby looked up to see windows going up the building, but they weren't in arms reach. So using some of her combat training, she jumped the best she could and grabbed the ledge of the window, climbing up.

As she jumped she could hear the sirens getting closer and she did her best to pull herself up onto the ledge, before grabbing for the next window. The building looked to be at least three stories high, but in truth, it was only two and the windows were just elevated. As she climbed up, she heard footsteps echoing on the walls, coming through the alley hen she heard someone yell and order her to stop. Twisting around from where she was, she looked to see that there were three cops. The who called after her seemed to be a general of some sorts and the other two were just large muscular men.

Abigail only had one more window to jump up to. "How's it goin boys?" she asked in a sassy tone. She raised an eyebrow before holding the ledge with one hand and giving a salute to them before jumping up to the last window and getting up to the roof of the building. As she reached the end of the building, she looked to see another alleyway where her friend from the bar had been going down into a manhole. Jumping down, putting her hand on the ground for support when she landed, she did her best to try and follow him again.

"Hey, wait up."
she said to him in a hushed enough tone that the police wouldn't hear. She was pretty surprised with how long that building was...

"Wait!" In her haste to escape down the manhole with Vol, she ended up colliding with him on the way down, dropping them both into the stagnant water. Thankfully he managed to scramble back up the small service ladder in time to seal the hatch before the authorities rounded the corner. Slipping back down the ladder, Vol searched his surroundings for Abigail, his superior low-light vision allowing him to locate her in the dark. Putting one hand over her mouth and one hand on her arm, he whispered to her.

"We need to move before they figure out how manhole covers work."
Considering the sounds of footfalls coming from above them, the police didn't immediately disperse when they saw no one was in the alley. They needed to move before someone up there put two and two together.

As Abigail dropped down into the hole, she ended up knocking them both down into the water. Luckily when she landed, mainly her feet got wet, but then again she was also lucky to have clothes that dried rather quickly. She stood up and watched as Vol made his way back up and closed the hole before coming back down.

As he put a hand over her mouth, she wasn't very thrilled about it, but she didn't show that she was a little upset about it and just listened to what he said as he then put his other hand on his arm. When he finished saying what he said, she nodded, mainly due to the fact she couldn't talk, but then looked up upon hearing the police coming.

Taking a second to help Abigail to her feet, Vol kept a hand on her arm as he led her through the tunnels. His ability to see in the dark allowed him to guide them through the sewers without using a position-revealing light source. Unfortunately, he was the only one who got to suffer with the knowledge of what exactly they were slogging through, beyond the usual.

His sudden altruism toward Abigail was far from well meaning, it was a purely practical move. He knew that if he left her behind, she would rat him, and potentially the Exchange, out in a heartbeat. He knew this because anyone else would most likely do the same, and he wasn't about to gamble on the odds that she was in that slim minority. Still, there was something he had just realized about her as they maneuvered through the sewers, trying to escape the sounds of sirens and footsteps overhead.

"What is your name, exactly?"

As Vol helped Abigail to her feet, she then followed him basically with no choice because he was directing her by her arm and due to the fact she couldn't see. She could definitely smell though. But she'd rather escape and live another day and run through this junk than get caught by the police and be interrogated and possibly killed.

As they ran through the tunnels, she heard Vol ask for her name and she told it to him the best she could while she was running.

"My name is Abigail."

"Well, Abigail, it would appear as though we are quite literally up s**t-creek without a paddle." Although the duo had managed to slip out from underneath the cops, given the lack of footsteps and sirens above them, they were not out of the woods yet. The sound of manhole covers being dragged open, and people slogging through the refuse echoed throughout the tunnels. They needed to find a way out fast, or else this odious ordeal would have been for not.

"Heh, you could say that again.."

She said under her breath. While she had taken this kind of route before, she had generally taken for the roofs for a better escape even though this was definitely more secretive, but it was always harder to see in. She could but couldnt believe the sirens that were still above among the footsteps rapidly searching all areas. That was until she heard the scraping of the manhole echo through the tunnels and she gave Vol a look that said they needed to move right then. The police were persistent.. she gave them that, but if these two didn't move, they would probably be captured. And Abigail didn't like the sound of being interrogated.

Keeping a hand on Abigail, Vol began to pick up the pace, guiding them farther through the sewer system. Eventually the sirens above them disappeared altogether, and the sound of footsteps in the dark grew distant. For the moment at least, they were safe. Turning to his new associate, he relinquished his grip on her arm and managed to find a slightly less damp spot to lean on the wall.

"Well, I imagine this wasn't how you wanted to spend the evening."

Abigail followed Vol as their pace suddenly changed and they moved quicker. As they moved further and further, she started wondering where they truly were. The sirens and sound of footsteps had finally reduced to almost nothing but echoes from far behind them. As Vol had let go of her arm, they both took a break for a second while they were in the clear. When he said that this probably wasn't the way she'd preferred to spend her evening, she shrugged.

"Well, this wasn't the goal of my evening, but at least I got some action that I've been craving for the past few months."

She paused for a second before crossing her arms and sighing.

"I'm sorry for getting you into this mess. If it wasn't for me being such a moron, you probably would have been enjoying your evening with no problem and you probably would have never had to deal with me."

she said in response.

"Correct on all accounts, but quibbling over hypotheticals hasn't helped me yet." Taking another second to listen for any encroaching authorities, and finding nothing, he turned back to Abigail. "If you want to activate a flashlight or something, you can. Unless you intend to sleep tonight."

While the smell of the sewer was certainly indicative of their situation, without seeing some of the horrors they were slogging through it lost some of its power. On more than one occasion, something had slithered right up to them or past them in the canal.

Abigail wasn't sure how to respond to his response, so she just sighed and nodded. When he said that she could probably turn a flashlight on, she kind of regretted it, especially since she didn't want to know what was in there with them. Sure she had seen what went into sewers, but the things that lived in them, was another thing. After all, she wasn't such a tough guy. She did have fears and it was of anything that slithered.. like a snake.

"While I wouldn't mind sleeping I have a feeling that whatever is coming through here is probably something I don't want to see an that you probably don't want me to see."

she said referring to the slithering creatures that passed them every once in a while, that Abigail instinctively flinched at.

"I can assure you, I want you to see what we are shambling through, if only so that I don't have to suffer alone in that knowledge." Knowing that she was most likely not going to comply with this request, Vol put a hand on her shoulder and began working them both through the sewers, looking for an exit to slip through. It didn't take long, as manholes and grates were placed in many areas across the tunnel system. Finding one of the former nearby, Vol paused to listen for any sirens, speeders, or passersby, and heard no signs of them. Sliding the hatch open, Vol let in both the artificial lights of the city above them, and the torrential rains that the light showers from before had become.

"Well, at least we'll get clean..."

Abigail sighed at what he said and turned on the flashlight for a second before then seeing something slither through the water. Upon seeing this, she flinched, moving closer to Vol and putting a hand over her mouth so she wouldn't scream. Right after that, she switched the flashlight of, and returned it to the back of her belt, where she had gotten it from.

After that, she felt Vol's hand on her shoulder as he started navigating them both through the sewer system. Soon they found an opening and climbed through it. It was down pouring again and Abigail was immediately soaked just by opening up the hole they were in. When he mentioned that they'd at least be clean, she nodded and gave a slight smile.

"Yeah, that's true."

Climbing out onto the street, Vol made sure no one was around to see them. Satisfied with the lack of bystanders, Vol turned back to help Abigail climb from the sewer. The light sprinkle from earlier had become far more powerful, turning into a full torrent of rainfall. While he would have been annoyed with this earlier, in light of their recent sewer escapade, he was more than happy to see this.

"We should move soon, we don't want to get picked up by a passing squad speeder."

Abigail looked up as Vol had turned back to help her out of the hole. She accepted the help and was even more soaked than she had been before. She probably couldn't have been happier just to see the city lights. She was quite disgusted to know what was under the roads, but wasn't surprised as it was nothing new.. obviously. As Vol spoke, Abigail nodded in agreement.

"Agreed."

She responded.

Deciding against stepping immediately out into the street given the...state of his clothes, Vol instead decided to cut through the alley to the other side of the block, using the extra time to try and wipe the slime and refuse off his body as he moved. While the smell was not going to come out so easily, at least he now looked like he hadn't just slogged through a river of humanoid waste to get here.

Abigail had followed Vol to the alley where she just realized that her boots were caked in waste. Giving a twisted face of disgust, she banged them off on the nearest wall, before standing back u and straight again. Leather was never a good idea to have around smells because since the cloth was porous, the smell would be hanging around for a while. She guessed that it was truly a good idea to get a new pair of boots. She didn't need them immediately, but would have to find a new pair when she got the chance.

Now that there was no visual evidence of their sceptic slog, Vol and Abigail needed to plan their next move carefully. They needed to get off the street, find someplace to lay low until they fell off the local radar. Pulling out his datapd, he tried to appear casual as he opened his maps, he didn't want to arouse suspicion. The map detailed their location, and with Vol's knowledge of Exchange safehouses in the area, he could guide them to one with little effort.

"Ah, here we go." There was a location not too far from them, a ratty warehouse that served as a quick stop for anyone in the Exchange looking to rest up between missions. It would take mere minutes to reach the location, and without having to go through any areas they had passed through already.

Abigail finished banging her boots off and then turned to Vol as he started looking through a map of some sorts. She was curious about it, but kept quiet, learning from her previous mistake. When he seemed to have found something, she looked up at him.

She guessed that he had found somewhere for them to take a break for a little bit. She hadn't been to any of the safe houses yet, but hoped that they had a shower where they could at least clean up. They most likely did and it was probably a dumb thing for her to think about, but the smell of the sewers made her want to throw up.

"Follow me." Doubling back through the alleys, Vol lead the duo across the block to the nearby industrial zone. The outside of the warehouse was...scuzzy, to say the least. It had rusted metal, cracked windows, and boarded doors, with a variety of graffiti smattered all over the walls. Needless to say, it was an unappealing sight, but still far more welcoming than the sewers of a Coruscanti prison cell.

"Well...shall we?" Entering the warehouse, the interior was just as dilapidated as the outside, although this time with a slightly repugnant smell. Thankfully, this wasn't the safehouse, it was the front. Walking into the main floor office in the back, Vol pressed a small button on wall, causing the metal desk to slide back revealing a small metal trapdoor. Typing a short code into the pad, the door opened, leading down to a small room beneath the building. Unlike the warehouse above, this room was clean, and rather nicely decorated. Nothing too ornate, just well-put together. There were a few bunks in the corner, a tiny kitchen, a pair of couches, and a holo projector. There were a few side rooms, leading to a bathroom and a workshop for weapons and gear.
