Alais remained quiet as she drove towards the security station. She knew the girls would be in good hands from then on, the entire planet viciously against slavery or trafficking of any sort. She kept glancing over at Kal as she drove, noting that he avoided looking at her for the most part, his mind troubled. Alais reflected on her own thoughts and everything she had done back at the mansion.

She knew it was wrong, and she knew she had crossed lines. Why was that kind of power forbidden if it made her more capable? She was more use when she had that power than she had been as a lost little girl without a weapon. Alais knew that power could save her when everything else failed her. It was not an external, alien concept like she had been taught. It was a fundamental part of her, a side of her that had been dormant this whole time. Did that mean she was inherently dark?

Alais’ thoughts stuck with her till she arrived where they needed to be. She turned to the oldest girl, “Don’t mention anything about the saber or the flying stuff. Otherwise it’ll get us and you in trouble,” There was something unnerving about the look in Alais’ eyes that caused the girl to nod frantically before leading the other girls out.

Alais wasted no time, taking the truck back towards where their speeder was parked. It was back to just the two of them now, the mission ringing in her mind. More than that, she thought of how justice had been served. However, she knew this wasn’t the end of it.

Alais reached over to grab a datastick, handing it to Kal, “I nabbed it when we were in the office. It’ll hopefully give us leads in case there are more operations like this. I just know there’s a head honcho somewhere at the top that we can take down..”

A few moments of silence passed. It was then that she finally looked at Kal, biting her lip, “Kal… do I scare you?”

Kal nodded as Alais warned the girls not to talk about what had happened or who they were. It was absolutely for the best with tensions already the way they were, though the fact that they broke up a major trafficking network had to be worth some "points." Regardless, Kal was happy to get as far away from here as he could as memories of his own family came flooding back. Things he didn't want to think on and as a Jedi he shouldn't. But he wasn't a very good Jedi it seemed.

As they returned to their own speeder, Kal let out a quiet sigh of relief, glad to be back into relative safety and out of that... horror show. Everything about tonight was terrifying to him. The true evil he'd peered into in the face of that monster disguised as a hero, the darkness that surrounded his own friend, and the fact that when it came right down to it, he'd all but condoned what had happened. Was he becoming the very thing he hoped to destroy?

But perhaps most of all, there was something eery and truly terrifying on a level that he couldn't even understand at watching her joyfully smear blood across those paintings. Without remorse, concern, or sympathy, she decorated the mansion in the blood of its owner. She reveled in it. She enjoyed it.

All of this ran through his mind in the silence and though he took the datapad and ran through the operations, his mind was far afield, trying to connect the pieces. When she spoke again, he was caught off guard by her question. He pressed his lips together in a thin line. How could he answer this? He didn't even know the answer himself. He took a deep breath before answering and shaking his head. No, Alais. But that power you're playing with... that is something I'm scared of. I'm scared for you, not of you, he said, wrapping an arm around her to give her a reassuring hug.

He held it for a moment and pulled back. I know it makes you feel strong, and you are strong, but that's not what will make you a great person. It'll just try to rob you of you, he said. He'd seen time and again those who had fallen and lost their souls to an unspeakable force. A pure evil that haunted this galaxy. No matter what happens, I'll be here for you, he said. Whatever sort of bond they'd formed had been forged through fire, and he had no intention of giving up on her.
