DESCRIPTION​

The VXN-series dropship, commonly referred to as the VXN, is a landing craft developed by Keldabe Spacial Dynamics, a small aerospace firm based in the city of Keldabe on the planet Mandalore. Operated by Mandalorian forces in their war against Sith oppression, they are commonly referred to as "Vixens" by their crews and passengers.

The VXN is a 30-meter-long, angular-looking craft, meant to transport a squad of 12 soldiers with all relevant gear over interstellar distances to the surface of a planet. To aid in this, it is equipped with a hyperdrive, a light deflector shield generator and a number of weapons. These include a pair of forward-firing medium laser cannons, as well as two turrets, including one ventrally mounted medium laser cannon and a pair of dorsal autoblasters. These weapons are mainly used to clear a landing zone of hostile troops and weapons prior to disembarking passengers, who exit the VXN through a conventional boarding ramp. In atmosphere, this ramp can be opened while the ship is still in flight, allowing the troops inside to fire out with their own small arms and any other weapons they may be carrying.

The VXN is a well liked craft by those troopers and crews who fly in it, although it does have some shortcomings. Although it does have a decent number of weapons, it is not especially maneuverable compared to starfighters and even some gunships, making it dependent on allied fighter cover to ensure a safe landing, or at least the prior suppression of enemy aerospace defense. Otherwise, it is easy prey for enemy fighters and anti-air weapons.
