It was weird that Varyn had been partially responsible for blowing up the academy on Dromuund Kaas, and now here he was helping to instruct students in its replacement. Not that the new facilities were anywhere near as nice as the old ones with the "true replacement" still being built, but these facilities - old as they may have been - still accomplished their goal.
The room that had been converted into a dojo for training had a nice view of the surrounding city, and as usual rain and electric storms thrashed the walls outside.
Varyn had foregone his armor today and instead opted for a more simple set of robes and his lightsaber strapped to his belt. It wasn't his first time giving instruction on sabers, but it was his first time doing so in any "official" capacity on behalf of the academies. After a testing period to determine his proficiency, he had been allowed to take on several individuals for one-on-one and small group tutoring as something of a test.
Truthfully, Varyn had no idea what to expect. The Sith were a diverse bunch as he'd discovered, and he had no idea if he would get someone like himself with a passion for dueling or someone who would rather be doing something else entirely.
For his part, the saber was one of the few things that Varyn had immediately taken to. He had chosen a Form for himself that required dedicated study, and that wasn't an accident. Even as a Jedi and now as a Sith, it was one of his favorite pastimes.
There was something thrilling about knowing the expected maneuvers and then altering them to throw off one's opponent. There was something empowering about holding a saber in your hand and clearing your head through the movement of the blade.
He waited, watching out the window as speeders passed by, listening to the light plink of rain against the window.
