"Look around you. All that lives is mine to defend. If you wish to test your steel... here I am." - Venatus Phoenix

Ordinary World by The Hit House

Once a proud member of the Embers of Vahl, Chosen by the Goddess to preform duties and uphold the ideals of their people, Venatus Pheonix was betrayed. Sent back into the Galaxy as a kindling of hope for his world, he has since joined forces with the legendary Knights of the Jedi Order to push back the growing tide of Darkness.
For the brightest flame casts the darkest shadow, something the elderly Vahla knows well. He must remain vigilant, lest all be lost.

    Journal

When he awoke, his body was broken and torn. An elegant weapon lay unsheathed and mired in gore by his side, even as the ebb of life drained from him. Only once before had a battle been so costly. He had come from the final days of the war on Vahla, for the planet's fate. He and his forces had ultimately failed to stop the Embers of Vahl from destroying their homeworld completely through the uses of their dark magicks. Sent into the skies above bereft of his past sins and grief, he was instructed to relearn what he once knew. As his memories cleared, visions of a past life flashed before his yet undimmed eyes. He was once a member of Vahl's Chosen, an elite caste of warrior priests that answered directly to the Goddess herself, and enacted her will.

He once had another life, one filled with misery and manipulation, though he did not see it at the time. His daughter was taken from him at the young age of nine, his parents killed in the very same attack. All to strike a blow at him, the man who had shed his old identity and taken up the mantle of Venatus for his own. In ages past, his ancestor Arcturus took the name Phoenix to swear an oath of vengeance against the fire drakes of the North. So too did Eiric Van Alasdaire change his name, but his was an oath for freedom and victory! It was not to be so, and his greatest failure doomed an entire world.

He did not know where he was, nor how he got there. His pursuers were gone, as he had seemingly teleported to this verdant utopia. The memory was hazy at best, and though he tried to rise it proved too exhausting. It was not until a young man came to his rescue that he willingly started healing himself. Fate would not let him give up. Not yet.

He healed inhumanly fast, the shattered ribs and lacerated muscles should have taken years to fully heal. More than that... his glowing eyes are simply unnerving. Nonetheless, he had proven useful around the farm. Never complained about helping, always open to criticism and very kind. At first, he could not speak at all. Not normal, anyways. Some strange and elegant language that no-one, not even our historians, could identify.

Beorn, as he is named, tended to his wounds (both physical and mental) for the better part of a month. Although Venatus could find no true reason for the man's help beyond genuine concern, he remained guarded and vigilant.

It took weeks; even after being fully healed, for Venatus to even state his name. He could not exactly go into detail about how he arrived there, as he had no memory of the events. Nonetheless, Venatus did all he could to learn Beorn's strange tongue, and all of the objects and titles that accompanied it.

As summer was nearing it's end, a group of raiders began harassing the townsfolk. When the elders convened, it was decided that Venatus was the only one capable enough to confront them. Beorn, however, would not allow his guest to endure harm on his behalf, and so at the break of dawn left to battle the Raiders himself.

When Venatus rose, he was both shocked, proud, and terribly stricken. He knew in his heart that what little Beorn had learned from him would not save him. Had he not taught the young man the ways of war, perhaps he would not have played at being a hero. After searching the man's shack for his weapons, Venatus left in search of his foes.

His enemies stood no chance against him. A whirlwind of flame and steel met them on the gentle fields, painting the ground red with fresh mire and blood. Only one among them provided a challenge, a woman embalmed in the powers of darkness. Her blade of arctic plasma clashes against his own, flaring through the sky as the sun began to fade. The battle was long and hard fought, ending in a barrage of pure unending hate. Lightning spawned from the depths of the abyss crashed from her fingertips towards him, but his torrent of flames proved more than a match, until alas his foe was burnt and spent.

Taking one of their vibrating blades for his own, he left her among her allies. Bloody, broken and burnt. Still, he did not take her life. Too much blood had been spilled on this day.

    "What are you?"

"The last of my kind. There is a reason for that."

Beorn was avenged. It was not long before he stumbled across a young couple of the very same village, who begged and pleaded with him to save their daughter from a group of vicious slavers. He went there, and in the process met a Jedi Knight by the name of Aliyah Coven, who in her folly had assumed she could take on a slaving ring on her own. The pair of them fought back to back, together taking the ring down and forming an unbreakable bond in the process. They have since traveled together, with the young Twi'lek becoming more than a mere pupil to him. He decided to formally adopt the girl, and move on with his life and overcome the greivances of the past.

They fought together on many occasions, with the pair travelling for a couple of years across the Outer Rim, dismantling any slaving operations foolish enough to cross their path. It was around this time that Venatus began to hear the rumours of a former colleague, Callix, who had taken up residence on the planet of Nar Shaddaa. A reknowned and twisted user of the Dark Side, the duo sought to eliminate him. In the process, they fought and defeated the High Priestess of Vahl (Venatus' first master), earning the ire of the Embers in the process.

The Order has since welcomed Venatus into it's ranks, originally in a taciturn manner. Though his actions have begun to speak louder than his words and deeds of old, it seems that he may have found another place in the Galaxy to call home. Aligning himself with the Light was only logical, he was no longer willing to cling to the anger and pain of the past. If the Sith dominate the Galaxy, it would no doubt create a breeding ground of darkness that could be pooled to ressurect the Crimson Queen - a possibility Venatus will never allow to happen.

    DATALOG BETA - USER BEORN
Alright. I created this section to observe how he acts around our society. I left it encrypted so any might read it. Just in case.

The most definable thing I can say about Venatus is a constant curiosity. Maybe he is insane, maybe he has amnesia. Either way, most modern amenities are mysteries to him. Still, he asks about everything. From holopads to starships, he learned all he could about everything I could teach him, and surprisingly taught me quite a bit himself. He is now proficient in most basic piloting skills, basic upkeep of a house. Don't give him a blaster, ever, because he frankly doesn't get the concept of a trigger. Keeps on trying to "nock it".

He taught me quite a bit about strategy and fighting, from agriculture to actual full scale battles. He insisted he pay me somehow, and I've never been good with a melee weapon. A few weeks with him, however, and I had already started to shape up. He fights like a demon, faster than I could ever hope to be, but still I learned. I'm always told I made great progress, and the next day gets harder still. He's a natural leader, and despite logic he truly makes me believe that I am a good person and can make a difference.

There are nights, however, where he secludes himself alone. It's obvious something is eating him up inside, some great pain. He tries to hide it, to be a force of nature, but he just falls short. His responses are quick and honest, he hasn't lied once since being here. Whatever he's gone through, it's completely removed any tact he might have had as a younger man. He cares, about everything. From the animals we look after to the bugs I would have stepped on, he always saves them. I don't understand it, but as he always says, "They want to live too."

His age is another matter entirely. I've asked about family, to which he won't even answer. But asking how old he is simply gets a "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." He seems to be very young, no older than his twenties. But he talks like he's been around for a very long time. From stories of battles and war to lessons on love and pain. Perhaps he is simply extremely mature, but even that could be considered a stretch.

I won't lie, I enjoy his company. Maybe he'll consider staying a little longer.

"We all have the power to kill, but most refuse out of fear. Those who are not afraid control life itself." - Eiric von Alasdaire

    Disturbed - Inside the Fire

Among the most powerful of Vahl's Embers stand Vahl's chosen. Eight pyromancers of power and devotion unquestionable, sworn to follow Lady Vahl's word until the end of time. Eiric was the newest among their number, chosen to be trained directly beneath Alekto, the High Priestess herself.

The armored warrior and enthralling tactician lead Vahl's war march during the One Hundred Years Darkness...

Everyone has a past. And every story has a second telling.
    bxmvyzB.png

    Tales

The firstborn son of Anton von Alasdaire and his sorceress wife, Vesta the Phoenix, Eiric always had tall shoes to fill. His father, given a lordship by their cheif diety, Vahl, had earned both fortune and favor with the Goddess. His devotion was considered the stuff of legend, and the expectation was that Eiric would follow in his father's footsteps. Unsurprisingly, he did, ableit for the strangest of reasons. It was not his father's devotion or mother's prayers that convinced him to serve her. Rather, the young child had grown to love the Goddess, and wanted nothing more than to be at her side.

At the age of seven, he and those of his peers deemed strong enough to contend, where brought to the Cathedral for induction. They would endure rigorous and excruciating trials of flesh and mind. Their training would focus on mastery of the Force most specifically a Vahla's natural inclination towards the element of Fire. Taught fluently in the Old Tongue and Black speech, so they might cast spells and use Magicks. The Embers were also notably historians, preformers and storytellers, expected to remember a variety of tales by memory alone.

When he came of age, he had not proven to be the best in his class, But through sheer willpower, cuthroat guile and constant attrition, he rose to prominence and was thus chosen to attend the Basilica. There he would be chosen by Alekto, and place under her direct supervision for the majority of his teenage years. The Priestess trained him in the art of war and the Force, as well as many aspects of sorcery and governing, imparting upon him the strictest doctrine of protecting the Vahla above all else. This would eventually prove to be a good omen for her people, as Eiric grew in strength so too did he notice how obviously corrupt many of the Chosen had become. He took it upon himself to cleanse the rank of the Chosen, and with the Goddess' permission he personally challenged and killed three of their number. The rest fell in line shortly afterwards, and those who rose up as replacements were given additional training to be completely subservient to Vahl and her will. It was around this time the Goddess took notice of Eiric's infatutation with her and manipulated it to her own ends, recognizing that his bloodline produced strong warriors and she needed a heir.

The following 'relationship', if one could even describe it as that, was a mockery of what most people experience in their lives, as Eiric's affections were consistently used to both manipulate and control the Chosen with higher precision than Vahl could any others, an arrangement that would only end when Eiric's sister Eliza introduced him to a gladiator by the named of Siegfried Tempest. Eiric recognized that Siegfried was on of the names of the nine original chosen who had preceded him, and instantly gained a level of respect for the man. This was only extrapolated further when the Gladiator's mission was revealed; Siegfried demanded that all Vahla, Ember or Chosen, be treated as equals. Believing his lover to be just and kind, Siegfried was brought before the Chosen to propose his vision for what society on Vahla could become. The Crimson Queen was not having any of it, sentencing the Gladiator, along with Eiric and Eliza, to death. Although his sister never made it out of the Basilica, he and Siegfried managed to fight their way to freedom and escape the Ember's clutches.

This atrophy, is pushing me
Deeper down into the storm
Divide
Come alive
And make me reborn

I watched you burn alive
And from the ashes you rise
It should be no surprise, you were always a phoenix in disguise

I would submit The Ashenblade to the tech board, unless the sparks and flames it gives off are purely aesthetic.

TheSWRP has approved lots of characters and races that have the ability to heal but regeneration during PvP is not possible. I don't mean to jump to conclusions, but since his armor provides no protection it seems to me that he would be relying heavily on this healing ability.

The fifth paragraph in the farmer's Journal is a bit confusing. To me it seems as though the farmer easily dodged blaster bolts and then killed several assailants. Was Venatus the one who fought the assailants and the Exile, or was the farmer trained so proficiently by Venatus that he managed to kill several warriors?

Lastly, what strange device is the farmer writing on, and why was it difficult for him to figure it out?

I am by no means a Character Mod, so you do not have to change any of this unless it is specifically mentioned by one. Just wanted to offer my opinion based on profiles I've seen in the past.

His fire sword would definitely need a tech write up but even then.. I’m not sure it’ll fly.

I don't think you can have a sword with the save cutting power as a saber. And we don't allow force-forged weapons that are functionally vibroswords with a visual effect. So you may have to stick with a plain vibroweapon. My feedback as a player

No visual effects. Hmm. Is there any way that visual effects could be added while removing some form of functionality? This character is heavily based on fire (As per the name). But if not, I can always just make it a regular sword. Or simply a force-forged weapon?

So I should clarify, perhaps in post editing: His regenerative properties only worked that once. Due to his backstory, as soon as he arrives here the healing factor is still active. Now, this regeneration is force-driven and requires intense concentration or meditation. It's impossible to preform in the heat of battle unless he is absolutely 100% focused on healing his own wounds, as he was in his near death state.

Venatus fought the assailants. I will clarify, I wrote this guy at like 1am based off of my novel character.

The device is a datapad. Venatus was the one who could never figure the device out. Will edit and clarify.

I would just make it a regular sword. I don’t think the force regeneration is quite kosher either.

I thought that was how Force Heal works? Concentrate on speeding up the healing process? Simply said regeneration instead of heal to match the Phoenix motif. I can remove it if necessary.

And wouldn't a regular sword be laughable in PvP? Consider most things could destroy it easily?

I'd have to look into the force healing further, but keep in mind he's a level one character so intense healing might be out of his depth. If it's a vibrosword they're inherently light saber resistant on the site so they hold up just fine (and are what most people without lightsabers opt for.)

Hey there, I noticed that sword. We generally don't like having visual effects for weapons, just for the sake of having them. As is that weapon would need a tech writeup. Your plate armor will also need a writeup, but it can be a generitech writeup--I can even help you with that, if you have any questions on that.

@AutoFox can help you out if you have any further questions. :)

I have quite a few writeups necessary for this character alone. I've started both the plate armor and sword already, and a few lore articles. In the meanwhile, my character will be utilizing the saber and cloth robes (unless he picks up other useable armor). Thanks, might take you up on the offer if necessary.

Indies aren't allowed to start out with sabers, as per the roleplaying rules. A vibrosword is probably going to be your best bet.
