"I've mounted things more deadly than you on my wall, boy. I could punch a hole in your thick skull and skin you alive right in front of your posse here and there's nothing they could do about it. The only difference between you and the bastard beast hanging over my fire is that the hours I spent hunting that thing were enjoyable for me. Killing you would just be a waste of my time."

NAME: Ve'kas Siir / Ve'kas'siir

FACTION: Sacred Band of Ziost
RANK: Brother
SPECIES: Nikto
Subspecies: Kadas'sa'Nikto
AGE: 42
GENDER: Male
HEIGHT: 5'7"
WEIGHT: 185

SKIN: brownish green scales
HAIR: Nonexistent

Distinguishing Marks:

PERSONALITY:

Ve'kas Siir is in the same description an incredibly complex individual and an oddly straightforward on. Many have tried to restrain him or put his actions in check in the past, his stubbornness and inconsideration of authority prompting most of these attempts, and all have so far failed, sometimes in quite spectacular and/or violently ending ways. He speaks bluntly and without restraint, to the point of appearing rash and uncaring, both of which are mostly true. He can invoke drastic action seemingly on a whim, making him ludicrously unpredictable and all the more dangerous to those who catch his ire. Despite this, there is something of a grit filled intelligence that sometimes pokes itself through his offputting demeanor. Ve'kas may not be the most educated man to cross the Galaxy, but he can catch many people off guard by his innately profound thinking and deep understanding of the world. He lives a life of simplicity, letting the universe take him where it will, never looking back and always looking forward to the next. Though he is not able to use the force in the manner of the Sith or Jedi, he claims to have a personal relationship with it that only he can really understand fully.

Ve'kas can be best described as a sportsman above all else, taking to his work with the kind of spirit a lone woodsman would have in stalking his prey, whether these prey be sentient or not. He possesses great pride in his hunting prowess, and has been known to take spoils from successful high profile assassinations. He has a deep respect for nature, and sees himself as an invoker of the true spirit of natures laws, which lie in the relationship between predator and prey. In all instances, Ve'kas takes care of his own interests before anyone else's. If he wants to help someone, he will do so only because he freely chose to do so out of his own decision and reasoning rather than any feeling of moral obligation. One of the things Ve'kas hates most in this universe is people who act as if others owe them something, or that they have a right to have something that they don't deserve. As he explains, he will do what he pleases and if that negatively effects someone, then tough. He is not obligated or required to do things to make their lives easier.

In everything Ve'kas is a survivor. He does not give up in adversity, for he is far to stubborn to do so. He has a knack for running headfirst into situations where he is horribly outmatched and then turning these fights into shocking victories that leave everyone in the room wondering what happened. He can rally together people who never thought they could unite, simply by being himself. Through a mixture of creating respect and fear within his associates, he can make a fairly compelling leader. When he needs to, he will take complete and utter control of a situation, giving anyone who objects a swift slap across their stupid face. Rough, belligerent, and deadly, When it comes to the lone gunslinger known as Ve'kas'siir, it's a good piece of advice to stay out of his way. Otherwise he might just run you over.

BIOGRAPHY:

Life on Kintan has and always will be a harsh existence. The planets surface is reduced to a barren wasteland populated by hoards of creatures plucked straight from a terrible nightmare. The volatile star named M'dweshuu had bathed the planets surface in strange radiations over millions of years, mutating its inhabitants into all manner of beast. The Nikto were constantly forced into a brutal defense of their civilizations from destruction by these animals. In the end, they destroyed their own biosphere just to force the more dangerous and unnaturally resilient species into extinction. Even then, there were creatures that remained. When push came to shove, and the cities of Kintan were placed under siege by these brutal monsters, only the most elite hunters and combatants would survive a defense mission. One of these hunters was Ve'kas, and he would go on to be feared as a legendary slayer of both man and beast.

Not much is known of his early life as a child, save for two things. That he joined the elite hunting squadrons of Kintan from a very young age, and that for as long as anyone can remember, Ve'kas has always been a royal pain to deal with. Most of his species were known to be submissive in nature, years spent serving under the rule of the Hutt clans almost ingrained in their psyche. Even in the few instances where they rebelled against their Hutt masters, it was made extremely clear that they had lost the ability to fully function on their own as a society. But Ve'kas'siir was different. Yes, some Nikto had gained their own sense of will and had gone on to live freely without the Hutts, but this was not just idle willpower. Ve'kas seemed almost incapable of submission, constantly butting heads with almost everyone he met. He could not and would not bow to anyone. Many wondered at his oddly headstrong nature, some even accusing him of being a "defective" Nikto. This actually seems to be correct, as it is theorized that Ve'kas possesses a genetic abnormality that frees him from the species inner need to have a master, while maintaining the determined nature most Nikto innately possess.

Joining the hunters altered the life of Ve'kas toward a path from which he could not return. Trained in every manner of killing knowledge, he was transformed by the brutal environment and constant turmoil into a weapon of utter destruction. He was taught to face down beasts ten times his size without breaking a sweat, moving and weaving between claws and teeth as blaster fire flew out from him in a fury. He was a natural combatant. Where others looked for every opportunity to avoid going out into the wilderness to make war against nature, Ve'kas constantly looked for more chances to go out into the wilderness. He relished in the bloodlust, in the carnal high of it all. With nothing but their wits and the gear on their backs, he and the Nikto huntsman would beat back the wastelands horrors each and every day. He rose up within their ranks, his authority built on the corpses of thousands of creatures. But this was not to last. His mouth managed to get him into more trouble than he had anticipated. He was well known as a local champion, so his words, especially the more unsavory ones, could easily travel far. Unfortunately, when he spoke out with insults about his own Hutt employer, Borgarbo the Hutt, it was not long before the slug learned of it.

Being called "ugly, lazy and a waste of the little good air we got on this mud hole that that thing is to asinine to run," naturally didn't sit very well with Borgarbo. Ve'kas'siir was branded a public agitator and charged with treason. In his youth and arrogance, he did not take the Hutts accusations seriously, instead taking a night out at a local bar. There, he was attacked by a squadron of mercenaries sent by Borgarbo to arrest him. Ve'kas'siir was impaired by a night of drinking, and lost his right eye in the firefight that followed. Even so, he managed to escape with his life, vowing vengeance on the Hutt. After a year of living as a fugitive, Ve'kas'siir finally found Borgarbos palace. He disguised himself as one of Borgarbos mercenaries, and snuck passed hundreds of guards. He plotted every exit, memorized every hallway, knowing exactly where to go if things went wrong. He strode into the crowded throne room, no one suspecting him, and inched closer and closer to his prey. When he was within but a few feet from Borgarbo, he casually asked him a question, mimicking the bounty hunter he was impersonating.

"So, Borgarbo, everyone here thinks you're all great and everything, and I do too, but I heard that someone was making some trouble outside town. He's really laying into the insults out there."

"What does he say about me?"

"Well, forgive me, this isn't my own words, but he says you are 'ugly, lazy and a waste of the little good air we got on this mud hole that that thing is to asinine to run.'"

"Hm... I know those words. They are from a man who has hated me for years. I tried killing him, but he escaped. Now I know where he is, and justice will be served."

"Who is he?"

"Just a foolish hunter who thinks he is more than he is."

"Tell me his name. I want to hear his name."

The Hutt looked at him warily, seeming to grasp that something was wrong. "His name is Ve'kas'siir."

With that, the Nikto glared in his own horrible reptilian way, threw off his disguise and looked Borgarbo dead in the face. "You're damn right it is, chubby." And with that, he slaughtered the Hutt lord right where he sat, along with everyone in the palace who got in his way on the walk out. He learned something interesting that day. For all of his time he spent trying to hunt animals, his skills worked well on sentients too. After this episode, he decided that he was tired of life on Kintan. He boarded a space freighter, killed the man who tried to arrest him because it was illegal for a Nikto to leave Hutt custody, and began a trip around the stars.

At first, he made a career out of hunting down dangerous wildlife throughout the Galaxy. Many a rancor fell before him in those days. But it came to pass that he realized that there were some more high paying jobs that complemented his skill set. Thus, he became a bounty hunter for a time, and a good one at that. He tracked down fugitives, criminals, ambassadors, wealthy shareholders, even Jedi and Sith. Eventually, his antics caught the attention of a strange dark cult that was growing on the outer rim. He had heard stories about them, the Sith. They were a ruthless At first, he didn't pay them much mind. He went in, took the jobs they gave, and left. But after a while, they kept asking for him back more and more. After a while he was assassinating as many Jedi and border alliance enemies as any Sacred Band Member. He just kept coming back. Ziost became something like a base of operations for him, and he slowly became familiar with it, like a second home. Over time, without even meaning to, he had joined the ranks of the Sacred Band. The band was brutal, cutthroat and incredibly dangerous at every turn, and Ve'kas felt right at home within them. You see, despite the treachery and the turmoil, he just couldn't see anything wrong with what was going on around him in this group.

A world that was cutthroat was the only world he had ever known.

SKILLS:

Marksmanship: Ve'kas'siir is devastating with a blaster, with disturbingly accurate aim and a quick draw famed throughout All of Kintan.

Xenobiology: Ve'kas'siir is equipped with extensive knowledge of alien species from all over the Galaxy, their strengths, their behavior, and most importantly their vulnerabilities. These include both sentients and non sentients.

Survival: He can live indefinitely on his own with a limited number of resources, comfortable in virtually any environment.

Swordsmanship: Sometimes blaster bolts and explosives aren't enough to bring down an enemy, especially when the enemies he has faced in the past are several times his size. Multilingual: Speaks Galactic Basic, Nikto, Huttese, and Dosh.

Hand to Hand combat: A life of hardship and bar brawling in his early years, a decade spent as a bounty hunter, and training by the Sacred Band have made him into a capable fist fighter.

Assassination/stealth: Having to sneak up on species with ultrasonic hearing can teach one to be evade the detection of most people. After that all he needs then is one well placed shot.

Mental resistance: Ve'kas'siir possesses an extraordinarily strong will, making him highly resistant to any telepathic attacks.

He and Grik should go hunting on Barab I together, and take down a Durgolosk.
