Finally.

Finally it seemed that the leaders of the two moons had come to accept that war was not the answer here. It was good because they had been targeted by people of ill-intent and now they were finally understanding that they needed to speak to each other, they needed to understand that they needed to actually get this whole thing sorted out.

He was joined by two representatives of the Republic, which himself serving as the sole Jedi representative at this event.

He said event because it wasn't a treaty signing yet... they still needed to be persauded and that was where the Senator and the other Republican came in. He remembered one of them as a pilot he'd flown against. He nodded to the other man with a smile,

"Kyp." he greeted the man with a small smile, "Lovely to see you again... quite different from a race on canto is it not?"

To the senator he smiled a little bit wider,

"Senator Trenton Kaizer..." he paused for a moment before saluting in military style, "A pleasure."

Some debated on whether it was better to prevent a war from taking place or to end one currently ongoing. Such differences were meaningless in the face of the lives that would or could be lost. Peace was always the end goal one should go for, so in both cases they were equal. This would be a test for Trenton, though if he could end a war and bring peace to even a small part of the galaxy then that would vindicate everyone who had voted for him to become a Senator. The others he was with were people he knew he could trust, though it was interesting to see an old face from his past here. "The pleasure is mine, Knight Volante. I haven't seen you since Chandrila. I'm surprised to see you've actually landed, though your flying is a work of art in itself." He then turned to Kyp, giving the man a bow of his head. "We've got some good work to do here today. Let's see if we can save some lives."

Kyp prayed to whatever god was listening that these guys knew what they were doing putting him in a room with diplomats after the brilliance of his actions on Foerost. A diplomatic mission had ended with one Senator knocked out cold before the darned thing even began and the other bloodied by the end of it. He had hoped that somehow that would be enough to convince everyone to never again throw him into a similar situation, but here he was, once more doing what he most definitely did not do best. Talk.

At least this time he knew who he was dealing with. He trusted the Jedi, the man was a pilot, and had good taste in ships. That counted for quite a lot in Kyp's books, and the Senator looked a whole lot livelier than the drooling old fool Kyp had to fill in for last time around. If he was lucky then the two of them would be able to handle things without Kyp having to say a great deal and reduce the possibility of him saying the wrong thing at the wrong time and somehow ruining this whole bloody...whatever it was.

He was pulling at the neck of his dress uniform, having been forced to put it on instead of the flight suit he normally got by in, when the Jedi greeted in. He gave one last tug at the garment before giving up and returning the Jedi's greeting with a nod. "I'd say, a whole lot more suffocating this time around if ya ask me. Don't suppose you'd mind lending me that shiny sword of yours and cut this collar loose? Stinkin things makes it impossible to breathe."

He gave the Senator a salute as well, though maybe not as crisp as the one from Lucian. Not out of any lack of respect, Kyp simply didn't have the same sense of propriety that you would see in most officers. "I sure hope so Senator." He spotted the delegates from the two moons and felt his mood drop even further. But he let his hands drop from his collar once more and folded them behind his back as some of the delegates approached, though he continued to mutter under his breath till they were close enough to hear. "Wanna start by saving this one? Anything that will get me out of this room...and this god-darn uniform."

Lucian was rather happy to know that he wasn't alone here and that he wasn't here with no one but strangers. While he was the only Jedi here still, a stroke of good fortune meant that Lucian was amongst people he knew. He knew Kyp from their starfighter race and he knew Trenton from Chandrila.

"You'll do fine Kyp." he assured the nervous Lieutenant with a small, encouraging, smile, "These people will hear the arguments of a senator and of a Jedi Knight - they will long for the simple, down to the ground, advice of a military man after that, I can assure you."

Senators and Jedi were notoriously dry speakers after all.

Trenton Kaizer.

There was a not so small part of Lucian that wanted to embrace his old friend, right here and now. But instead he settled for clasping the other man's forearm in a brief hand shake before stepping back,

"They tell me I need to spend more time out of the cockpit." he replied with a sly smile, "And I do meet some more interesting people without transparisteel in the way."

The representatives were ready, sat across the table from each other with their entourages amassed behind them. Lucian stepped forward first,

"Gentlemen... as you know, the bomber we apprehended has given us information. This information is on the papers in front of you and explains that your conflict has been exacerbated by a criminal organisation." he declared firmly, hands behind his back at attention, "Your young men and women have been going to battle and dying. They believed it was for a just and noble cause because they had to believe so... or else they would be afraid."

He swallowed a little bit thickly,

"What that report means is that your young men and women... sons and daughters... fathers and mothers... have died for nothing more than for some criminal to line his pockets with your credits." he reasoned, before demanding, "Please. You have been made puppets by this organisation but it is time to take control again and push hard. It is time for this war to end and for the healing to begin."

"I'll do my best, Lieutenant. Trust me, I didn't like the dress uniforms any more than you do when I was at the Academy." He understood Kyp's sentiments and they were a thing he agreed with, in a fashion. The quicker they got their job done here, the quicker the war ended, which would be the quicker the soldier could get out of his uniform. When it all started Trenton was intrigued by how readily Lucian dove right into the heart of the matter. During their academy days he had been eloquent when needed yet spent as much time as possible handling his starfighter and flying it. It seemed that time had managed to mature the both of them. As his friend finished his speech, Trenton knew that it would be his turn to build on a solid foundation.

"Honorable members of both delegations, my name is Trenton Kaizer. I come from a long line of proud military men, so before we arrived I wanted to know more about the young men and women that have passed on fighting in this war. These are just a few I wanted to bring up here." He brought up pictures of some of the slain soldiers, some of them children of the men and women in attendance. These weren't dour military photos, though, these were filled with smiles, eyes filled with hope. "Each of these men and women here died during the course of this war. From what I've learned of them, they didn't die fighting for hate, they died fighting for peace. They wanted to bring this war to an end so that the hate could end. With the revelations of this new information, it would be a simple thing to turn your ire towards these greedy few, yet I must implore you not to. It is not easy, trust me, I've been in a similar situation to you all before. You hurt, you hate, and you want to take revenge thinking it will alleviate the pain and loss. It will not. So I beseech you all, let it go. Let this war end. It may not bring back any of the fallen, but it would fulfill the dreams they had going into this war. End this, for them.

Kyp appreciated the two men trying to make him feel at ease, their respective words drawing a nod from him as the three parties got together and the summit officially began. He was still very much out of his element, and hoped that he wasn't called upon to contribute a great deal, but knew that he couldn't really just stand around saying nothing.

So speak he would, though lacking the eloquence of his taller companions he'd try to keep it short and sweet. "A war is on the horizon, against an enemy who will not discriminate amongst you on the basis of where you were born. You will have to fight when that war arrives."

Maybe that wasn't the best way to convince someone to stop fighting, by promising them another war, but then he wasn't the best at convincing people with words.

"Right now you have the time to prepare, but soon it might be too late. So don't waste the little time you have right now. Patch up your wounds, build up your strength, and when the real war comes, be ready to fight. Maybe not for each other, but at least for yourself."

Lucian could see it in the eyes of the delegates that they were close. It wouldn't take much more than a push for the two in the middle to actually make the peace lasting, permanent. They were tired of the conflict. The arguments given by himself, the senator and the Lieutenant had done their job - they had gotten them to thinking about this situation, about what it would mean going forward.

Moving forwards, Lucian stood at the very edge of the table with the two dignitaries who would be signing the accord. He watched as they both picked up their pens but both hesitated. Lucian closed his eyes for a second to think of what to say before saying it,

"Gentlemen."

He caught their attention and the attention of everyone in the room.

"A man can start a war by accident and be remembered. For decades, that man will be remembered as the man who started a war. Now... history won't remember your individual names for even a decade." he admitted bluntly before pushing onward, "What history will show is that the two sides of this war came together and made peace. It won't matter who was there because all that will matter is the peace. The security. The prosperity that followed. Your reward isn't to be famous or infamous... your reward is knowing that you have forged a peace that will be remember far beyond the time when all of our names are gone."

There was a heavy silence before the two men nodded to each other and signed, causing cheers to erupt from people on both sides and for former enemies to cross the divide between them and shake hands, talk and, in one case, share a rather heated kiss. Lucian didn't care, he just walked back to Trenton and Kyp on slightly shaky legs.

"I'm going to leave the talking up to you in the future, Trenton." he admitted with a weak chuckle before adding to Kyp, "Want to scope out the bar? I think the three of us have earned it."
