"Six there were for generations of Jedi. The seventh, is not well-known. Powerful form it is. Deadliest of all. But dangerous it is, for its master as well as its opponent. Few have studied. One student alone, to mastery has risen."
-Yoda

"Greetings padawan," intoned the transparent ghostly image of a long dead Jedi master that hovered above the holocron sitting on the training room floor. "This is a Jedi holocron detailing the basics of Juyo/Vaapad. Since Vaapad, and it's predecessor Juyo, both rely heavily on extreme aggression, only the basics are included in this holocron. This is to prevent an inexperienced padawan from acquiring knowledge that could harm them. Juyo and Vaapad are unique in that they rely heavily on the internalization of aggressive emotions and the use of an opponents anger against him. This is especially true with traditional Juyo, and therefore only Vaapad will be included in this holocron.
Vaapad is the 'ferocity form' anyone wishing to practice it well needs to have remarkable agility and stamina along with a constant connection to the living force. It is also important to note that Vaapad can lead to dark side tendencies if not practiced properly, if you have difficulty controlling your emotions while practicing Vaapad please speak to your master about it, or consider practicing another form. That said, emotion, both yours and your opponents, can fuel your practice of Vaapad and at least some native enjoyment or love of combat is also helpful. The philosophy of Vaapad...

Usually Jarak would have been bored to death by a lecture, but hand to hand combat was fascinating to him and he listened with the attentiveness of a curious child. The lecture continued for some time on the subject of Vaapad philosophy before turning to an in-depth synopsis on using emotion, the force and extreme focus while avoiding dark side tendencies. Jarak had just begun to tire of the lecture when the holocron/Jedi master said,
This concludes the first lecture on Vaapad, the practical lesson will begin now.

The ghostly figure ignited a holographic lightsaber and saluted Jarak, who was sitting in a meditative stance as he listened to the master. He stood and stretched, picking up the training saber that lay beside him as he did so. He ignited carefully holding it well away from his body. Jarak found it's blue blade entrancing as he swung it back and forth experimentally and found himself looking forward to the day when he would construct his own weapon. Jarak allowed his conscious mind to recede into the background as he began following the holocron through a series of techniques letting the force guide him and repeating them as necessary until the artificial intelligence, imbued with some of the knowledge of the late master, was satisfied with his form. They then moved on to more lengthy combinations, series, ending with a classical Vaapad kata created by Mace Windu, the style's co-founder.
In all Jarak spent the better part of a day in the room with the holocron and he promised himself that he would return daily until he had mastered all it would teach him, seldom had he felt so at one with the force, or such a sense of right and belonging as he did when he practiced Vaapad, the seeds of a new love had been sown and as Jarak exited the training room, he had a spring in his step as he walked briskly back towards the archives to return the borrowed holocron. Perhaps tomorrow he would find another student to study and perhaps even spar with.
