Location: Kashyyyk
Time: Mid-afternoon (1500)
Participants: @Rexx , @Darasuum
Theme: Far From Any Road ⇼ The Handsome Family

Birds, insects and wookiees were not the only thing on Kashyyyk. There were common place predators in the trees and mountains of the planet that would put so called apex predators of other planets to shame. The rule of law on Kashyyyk was that even the strong could still be hunted as the Wookiees were and so were those that preyed on them. Today it was up the hybrid Sith Hozan and his cohort Grimace. The two of them were non-humans and so it was better for them to work together than the conservative and human centric members of the Imperial Republica. Of course that was no surprise they were on the planet considering the locals were not humans either. It was debatable what stake in the matter the Republica might have with the planet. But they shunned Life Day as a whole so this was a covert operation for them.

Hozan set down his ship and left his droid on board. The craft, Horizon Call, was a mynock series freighter and was a standard vessel serving his travels thus far. But the acolyte was not going planning on using it. There was a rumored large group of webweavers moving through the local area and the prospective Dread Lord wanted to see them. Thus far he had only heard of the flora and fauna of Kashyyyk but today he was going to be experiencing it first hand. He was fully armed and armored considering he was far outside of safe territory. It was almost certain that they would be engaging in combat with dangerous game and rumors of other parties being involved on Life Day events had reached his attention. There was no sense in half assing his means of defense.

“You’re not much of a talker, are you?”

The question wasn’t malicious and held no ill intent, but if this guy didn’t want to speak unless necessary that was a-ok by Grimace. Not because he wasn’t interested in what his partner had to say, but if that’s the way he wanted it, then Grimace wasn’t going to rock the boat. Although he probably could rock Hozan’s ship if he tried around enough. But that would make him a poor guest and Grimace wasn’t one for bad manners.

While he waited for Hozan’s reply or lack thereof, Grimace checked over the Beviin Light Repeater. Mandalorians made nice guns. Solid, too, in case he had to beat something with it. He had eschewed his lightsaber for this sortie -- better to not risk someone seeing him flash red and end up with a bounty as a rebel against the culture conformation laws. Those racist pricks needed to relax. His Brutus Armor was in-place, helmet and all, ready to protect him against the worst Kashyyyk could throw at him. He had no doubt Kashyyyk could chew up and spit up the small, but there wasn’t a damn thing small about Grimace.

____________

Hozan heard the deep voice of the large being. It was certainly what he would expect from such a large individual. The face of the canine creature grinned slightly at the statement "I talk plenty. I did not think it of import to speak about the weather though I can engage you if you wish." Hozan only made an effort in conversation when situations required it. He was a manipulator and a reserved being that did not waste, nor want in excess. But the hybrid did not have a dislike towards socialization in general. Company did not displease him nor what usually came along with it.

They two would walk through the lively jungle, full of creatures and birds over head flitting in and out of view. It was a bright day, one certainly earning the name 'life day'. Ironic considering he was attempting to attain the title of Dread Lord of Death. But the thrill of the hunt and a forward operation to visit the wookiee homeworld had interested him enough. If they stayed anonymous and did not alert anyone to their presence as Acolytes they could turn in any threatening creatures for rewards.

Hozan could smell something in the air among the scents of living beings. There was a danger and foreboding sensation he was all too familiar with. He felt it often in his enemies before he dealt with them. But this was residual from an animal of some kind, simpler. Alerting Grimace to this he would make his way towards it to find a clearing with what looked like a carcass in the center. It was a small opening, maybe large enough for a single starfighter to land in it safely. The carcass was half consumed, webing lining tree branches all around giving signs that the arachnid fauna were near by or had been recently.

Reaching out with the force he tried to find and approximate any information. He closed his eyes and did a blanket sense of anything large enough to be such a creature. Ignoring the small rodents, the soaring birds the semi-shistavanen focused only to be surprised at what he felt. There were nearly a dozen web weavers around the clearing. The tales of the intelligence of the spiders was not exagerated. If Hozan were not a paranoid and cautious person he would have gone into the clearing. But even so, he could not attack them outright, not yet. The arachnid beasts were waiting, no doubt watching the two acolytes patiently.
