The older woman gave a creepy smile, hinted with what Drexus could only infer to be lust, after stating she liked a man of few words. The mere sight of the smile was off putting and made him feel a slight uneasy feeling wave through his spine. "Rrright." He replied. The awkward moment was then followed by a thumping sound from outside that had only began getting louder.

The older woman continued speaking, and everything about the mood in the room grew eerie. For Drexus at least.
"Get ready." Whatever was outside would need to be handled, especially after that comment she made. The Armored Zabrak would make his way to the door, opening it with his vibrosword in hand, as he unsheathed it on his way. Perhaps the old woman was a part of the reason why the entire city was empty. There was only one way to find out though.

Whatever waited on the other side, presumably hostile, would meet Drexus. He was readied in a defensive stance to counter an incoming attack with either the force or his blade, depending on the enemy awaiting them. This was a dangerous mission, he knew this from the start, and now it was time to tell the danger to fuck off.

Drex comments on the woman's.. approach.. and then reacts to the thumping by unsheathing weapon and opening door in a defensive readied stance.

As the crone flashed her ‘seductive’ smile at her companion, a sly smirk of her own played with the corners of her lips as she turned her head slightly to catch a glimpse of the Zabrak. He would see a teasing stare back at him, almost as though she dared him to act on the much, much older woman’s desires. The euphoria of poking at Drexus was short lived unfortunately. It seemed that this visit was to prove fruitless, the old tavern keeper unable to provide them any shred of an indication on what had transpired on Tund or the location of their missing Sith Master.

As the woman scowled, asking again if they could be offered food or drink, Sah’ra sternly declined as she felt her time had been wasted. ”I must decline,” she began as she then noticed the build up of thumping coming from somewhere within the city. ”I believe it is time for us to depart, my silent partner. Perhaps if we hurry we can catch up too…” Sah’ra’s words trailed off as she glanced towards the grime covered window that revealed the street they had just been on. The hairs on her neck stood on end, a sudden wave of anxiety and anticipation tantalizing her senses in the Force.

Standing from her chair and making her way to the window, she found it just as difficult to see out as it was to see in earlier, if not more so given the light emanating from within. Yet she could make out the charms and talismans that decorated the gable, hear them as they clunk together in the breeze. She was familiar with the purpose of such things; typically used to ward off evil spirits and the like. Whatever it was that was coming from the distance, the talismans were likely meant to deter but the growing sound of the thumping cast doubt of their effectiveness in her mind.

Was it wise to leave the building? Face the challenge? Wiser to flee, melt into the cityscape and attempt to continue their search? Or did this old crones' voodoo magic provide them the best chance of survival?

Deciding there was nothing to be gained by staying here and only her life to lose, Sah’ra would try for the door to return to the street. From there, she would reach up and pluck one of the many talismans from their perch and tuck it into the chest wrappings of her clothing before turning to put as much distance between her and the thumping as she could, uneager to be swarmed by whatever approached. If that meant up, then so be it. She would begin searching for rooftop escape routes as well as any direction the thumping was not coming from.

It could be argued that remaining within the Tower - having already lost her companion - wasn’t the wisest decision that Trace could make. But it was the decision that the Sith Champion stood by, as she advanced through the hallways and descended upon the Spider-like creature that raged up ahead.

Aided by the element of surprise, Trace was able to gracefully move from the shadows and fall upon the Spider-Abomination - carving her vibro-blade easily through one of its multiple legs. A high pitched shriek of pain echoed through the Tower walls, as the creature reeled backwards in pain. Similarly-confused Sorcerer’s turned to face the Sith Champion, staring in astonishment at her arrival.

All of them except one. The eldest figure amongst them merely glanced back at Trace with a frown - looking past the woman and back towards the hallway.
“You are all that remains, then?” He asked, as if expecting the Tiss’shar to still be following close behind. He didn’t dwell on the matter long, however, turning back to address the threat ahead.

Through the combined efforts of the Sorcerer’s and Trace, the Spider-Abomination began to skuttle its way back the way it came - grasping at the walls in hopes of fleeing into the dark, dusty corridors. Before his companions could pursue the creature, the elder sorcerer raised a hand - gesturing for them to halt.

“It was unwise to come here with so few,” The man said, glancing back to Trace. “Why did you?” He’d clearly noted their arrival, but the purpose of it still remained a mystery to the man. Regardless of her answer, the man didn't hesitate to declare their own purpose.

“Our former leader - Tenaros - has betrayed our Conclave. For months, he has delved into the darkest secrets of our Order, attempting to thin the Veil between the mortal plane and Primal Spirits. He has taken his followers and slaughtered anyone who dared to defy him.” He grit his teeth. “We are all that remains. But we don’t have the numbers to stop him directly.”

There was a drawn out pause, as the Sorcerer weighed their options. “I intend to destroy this sanctum before he is able to succeed in his efforts.”

City Group

“How unfortunate.”

There was a notable shift in the Crone’s expression - as the remaining warmth drained from her wrinkled face. Perhaps it has been a ruse all along, or perhaps they’d simply worn the old woman’s patience to its limit, but there was no denying the sour and malicious way that her face twisted upon being denied for the second time. She rose from her seat, taking a several steps back and into the tavern behind her.

In the end, she’d only tried to ease what was inevitable, from the moment she rang the bell.

As Drexus and Sa’rah began to both make for the exit, they would undoubtedly spot the creature from which the thumping originated. Standing nearby ten-feet-tall, the
twisted monstrosity began to lumber its way down the road. It carried within its leg hand, dragging loudly on the ground behind it. Curiously, the hilt of a lightsaber was squeezed within its right hand - though the creature clearly had no intention of igniting and using it.

Perhaps it was merely out of instinct. Instinct from a different time in its poor existence.

Upon spotting Sa’rah making a run for it, the creature swung the chain from the ground and lashed it forward - attempting to catch the Sith Champion by the leg. It had every intention of drawing the woman close and dragging her off to.. Wherever it had come from. Likely to the very same place everyone else has vanished to, as well.

Trace didn't receive a particularly warm greeting from the people she had just helped to save, but that was just typical, wasn't it? No one ever appreciated anything. People were insufferable.

I can certainly leave if you'd prefer not to have my assistance, she said as he asked why she had come with so few. She didn't have the means to order more people inside.

My partner was unfortunate in his outcome, she said simply. She wiped down the deactivated blade of her vibrosword, cleaning the blood free against a dead creature and wiping the remaining with a rag.

Where is he holed up? Does he have anyone with him? How do we intend to destroy it? she asked, hoping to be filled in on the situation as quickly as possible before the situation got worse.

Fear was an emotion that stoked darkness. It was an emotion that Sah’ra had learned to embrace long ago. It was the first stepping stone on the path she had chosen in this life and as the lumbering behemoth presented itself to them from the empty streets, it was an emotion that reared it’s head once more.

”By the Force…” she muttered under her breath as she took in it’s appearance. The rows of uneven and razor sharp teeth. The thick, heavy chains it clasped tightly in one ‘hand’ and in the other… Sah’ra was hardly a practitioner of alchemic arts. Not at all, really. But she knew enough to decipher that whatever this beast was, it was not a naturally occurring beast. No, instinct whispered in her ears that once upon a time this beast was exactly who they had come here to locate. Perhaps she was wrong. She certainly hoped she was.

As the chain was cast forth towards her, she could feel the steel wrap itself tightly around her leg before she could flee. Shock turned to panic as it became taut, pulling her to the ground as it drug her in.

”No! No! Dammit, no!” she cried out as she desperately reached into her robes to unclip one of her sabers. ”Drexus! Do something, damn it! Don’t just stand there!” she cried out to her partner. She felt the weapon in her hand and pulled it free, the crimson blade snapping to life as she tried to sear the chain that held her.

As Drexus noticed then woman leave and the monster outside, he had made the quick decision that the monster was the biggest threat at the moment. Especially with Sah'ra making a run for it. The monster held a saber in one hand with it not in use. It was odd, but noted. The other hand held a chain, if which was used to attack Sah'ra with.

The other Champion had immediately began yelling at Drexus, but he had already began his counter attack on the beast before she could. He wasn't just gonna wait his turn. Using the force he would use pyrokinesis to create flames around his arms, it was time to see if the beast could handle the heat. Making his effort he ran to the side of the beast, vibroblade in hand, ready to counter any attempt to stop him.

Should he be undetected, or ignored, he would attack the leg of the beast to slow it down and try to cut it off in one swing. Sah'ra could defend the chain herself. What Drexus was doing, was splitting it's attention. Having focus on two fronts, and decide which attack was more important, leaving them open for an attack by the other Sith. It was a tactic he had been taught training with his father, Draugr picked it up by facing multiple enemies at once.

Now Drexus was taking the training and flipping it into an offensive.

Drexus creates fire around his arms, and flanks the monster attacking it's leg with his vibrosword. It was stated he was prepared to defend against any counter measure the beast may use.

“Unfortunate indeed,” The man hummed, his gaze lingering on the hallway where Trace had arrived from. It wasn’t hard to decipher that the man had hoped for a larger turnout on Tund - enough Sith to make a legitimate assault possible against Tenaros possible. How he had anticipated their arrival - what he’d done to facilitate it - however, remained a mystery that wasn’t immediately addressed. He didn’t miss how Trace avoided his question - eyes narrowing ever-so-slightly.

In the end, it didn’t matter entirely too much. The woman could prove useful if only to help destroy the place he’d once devoted himself to.

“He is secured within the upper sanctum of the tower - through that hall and a few flights of up the stairs. He is well-defended - by those things you saw and worse.” The man sighed. “Our people - the civilians outside.. They have been fuel to his experiments and monstrosities.” It was the first hint of what had occurred to the people outside, and perhaps the Sith Master they were searching for. “Anyone still within the city is prey to the things Tenaros and his followers have constructed.”

“He has others. Sorcerers and sycophants loyal to his cause.”

The man paused for a moment, considering her more important question. “There is a reactor room some levels down - provide power to the entire facility. If we are able to reach and overload it, we should be able to destroy the Tower. Bring it down right on top of their heads.” The thought was anathema to the man. The destruction of his Order and hundreds of years of knowledge within the structure. But what choice did they have?

“We will need to fight our way there. It.. Will not be without risk of casualty.” Whether Trace opted to join him or not, the Sorcerer’s began to gather towards the stairwell that led downward - presumably towards the reactor that had been mentioned. The sound of commotion could easily be heard - inhuman groans and noises filling the stone hallways.

City Group

There was nothing natural about the creature that marched against Sa’rah and Drexus. An amalgamation of flesh and bone - twisted into a living weapon to be thrown against the enemies of Tund. There was no mistaking the saberhilt it carried or the origins of the creature.. But whatever humanity had once existed had been stripped and peeled away. Until only an alchemical shell remained.

Spittle and drool fell from its maw - a roar ripping through the air the moment that Sa’rah was gripped by the chain. The creature was entirely focused on his prey, intend upon dragging her off to meet the same fate as the citizens of Tund. It was tunnel-visioned upon her, eagerly drawing back on the chain to drag her closer. As it tightened, the Champion would begin to feel the metal heat against her skin - progressively beginning to burn with prolonged contact.

The strike of her lightsaber, however, barely left a scorch against the metal. It hissed and crackled, but effectively bounced off with every attempted swipe.

What was more effectively, however, was Drexus’ own attack. Perhaps if Sa’rah had been quicker on the defense, the creature would have been more focused on its own surroundings - rather than salivating over a seemingly assured kill. Thus, it had no opportunity to react to the Zabrak’s attack.

Still a being of flesh and bone, the lightsaber passed clean through the leg of the abomination - severing the limb entirely. It screeched in pain as the lower half of its leg collapsed inward, causing the lumbering creature to stumble forward. It’s grip on the chain grew lax, perhaps allowing Sa’rah the opportunity to free herself and go on the offensive - before it recovered and her ankle was burned beyond recognition. As for Drexus?

The Zabrak would suddenly find himself up-close-and-personal with the abomination. He would notice the almost human, Dark Side-tainted eyes that it possessed - and the anger that radiated from its gaze. With its free hand, the creature wildly swung with claws exposed - aiming to tear the Champion to ribbons at first contact.

The heat of the chains was an unexpected side effect of the beast's assault, warranting an angered cry of pain as Sah’ra continued to be pulled towards the drooling mess of teeth and drool. Of all the ways she could potentially die, being torn apart by razor sharp carnivorous teeth was perhaps the least preferred method she had ever conceived. Not that it had never crossed her mind in the past, of course. She just certainly wasn’t a fan.

When the beast reared back in pain, its leg cleaved through with ease by Drexus’ attack, Sah’ra was offered the moment she needed to loosen herself from it’s confines and return to her feet. Her calf still burned but she had been fortunate, the wound not likely to leave permanent damage. Still, a bacta bath was certainly in her foreseeable future, provided she survived this encounter.

As the creature pulled its arm back to swat away the Zabrak with its razor sharp talons, Sah’ra reached out through the Force and grasped it’s wrist, doing what she could to prevent the arm from falling from the apex of its swinging movement. If she succeeded, perhaps the alchemic creation would be forced into presenting an opening that Drexus could utilize in eliminating it. If not? Well, all must die eventually.

Trace listened and her mouth puckered up as she chewed on her lips, listening to what the man said. If they were willing to destroy their entire sanctum, she certainly wouldn't be opposed to bringing the entire place down to avoid a fight.

Lead the way, then, she said, gripping her sword more tightly. She opened herself up to the Force, letting it flow into her in an attempt to gain any more information about her new partners, sensing for any deception or ill intent toward her. She felt surprisingly naked being here. She didn't know what her goal was or what she'd been sent to do and now she was relying on strangers who she didn't trust.

The only person you can trust is yourself. You are Sith, she reminded herself, letting her senses flow out a few moments later to try to gain any sense of danger where they were going. She could hear the groans and hoped to decipher what was causing them.

After his attack, the monstrosity had fell due to his vibroblade cutting clean through it's leg. Seemed he had his work cut out for him so far, but not without its dues. The monster had known he was there now, and looked to attack him by swing wildly at him. This was a crucial moment, he needed to take out the arm now so that it would be crippled further.

Luckily for Drexus, Sah'ra had gotten free of the chain and seemed to have the same idea as him. After her actions of using the force to hold back the arm of the beast, Drexus had a little more time for his attack. As the arm would be in front of the Zabrak, he swiftly struck the arm with his vibroblade with enough force to cut through once again, looking to eliminate the primary offense displayed by their foe.

Should there be another attack it'd be slowed and awkwardly made, leaving Drexus at a greater advantage should he attack strike true. Not to mention, he had Sah'ra looking out for him at the moment. It wasn't a lot of trust to have but, she was a valuable ally in a fight it seemed, besides he had scratched her back with distracting the beast, now she was scratching his. A good display of teamwork may just get them through this mission.

Fortunately for Trace, there wasn’t much mystery where the muffled groans and sounds of distress were coming from. Unfortunately for Trace, the Sith Champion would quickly find the source wasn’t a particularly pleasant sight to stumble upon, buried deep in the depths of the tower. Along every hallway and level of the tower, they would catch glimpses of combat between abominations and those attempting to fight against them.

There was no mistaking the one-sided nature of the battle raging on around them. It was a futile attempt to stall the inevitable - perhaps long enough to buy them all time to bring the structure down around them. Trace would see several from her group break off to join the fighting, while the leader of them all made a beeline for the reactor room.

Multiple pylons rose up from the ground throughout the chamber - with sheer drops on either side of a narrow walkway - not unlike those sound on capital ships. There was no mystery what they needed to do, as multiple members of the group began to draw their weapons. “We do enough damage to cause the main reactor to critically fail.” He said, glancing back at Trace. “You will have a brief window to leave before it does.”

It was clear that he didn’t intend to follow her out.

City Group

There was another shriek of pain as the Abomination was struck by Drexus - still reeling from its earlier loss of limb, and now the Force hold by Sa’rah. The vibroblade cleaved clean through its talon arm, falling to the ground with a hiss of flesh sizzling against the surface of the heated blade. Strangely, both of them would begin to see the creature stagger and weaken - dark smoke beginning to pour free from its extremities. It was the very same effect that Trace had witnessed earlier in the Temple, though the pair never would have known that.

Instead, they would only be able to watch as it began to wither and finally collapse to the ground before them - the alchemy holding it together finally dissipating. They would see the Lightsaber hilt that rolled from its hand, as well as the crystal embedded in its skeletal chest.

And perhaps finally would understand what had become of their lost Sith Master.

They wouldn’t have much time to dwell on it, however. The sound of footsteps didn’t die with the first abomination, and the distant figures of several more could be seen approaching in the distance. Far more than they could possibly fight on their own - having arrived on Tund with few numbers, and having already lost one of their own. There was, however, a clear path back to their own ship, if they were quick about it.

All the while, they might catch a glimpse of the very same old woman - still standing within the window of her little tavern. Watching them, as they fled from the fate that had befallen her city, and the trap she’d led them into.

Drexus watched as the arm fell to the ground and dark smoke rising from the extremities of the monster. It had fell to the ground motionless after it's screech of pain. Oddly enough, it didn't feel like it was dead. It felt like a trap. So quickly without skipping a beat, Drexus drove his vibroblade into the head of the monster to ensure it's death. Whether it was or wasn't dead wouldn't matter now. At least he hoped.

Then as he could hear the sound of more coming, he figured it'd be best to live to fight another day. Using the force, he would pull to his hand the lightsaber that had rolled from the grasp of the monster. It had looked as if it were made by a Sith for sure. Perhaps even the one they were in search of. Unfortunate this was how they found them. Nevertheless it was time to get the fuck out before they were next.

"Let's get out of Sah'ra." Drexus sheathed his vibroblade and clipped the saber to his belt as he fled to the ship. Using his comms he would reach out to the other two Sith that had come to Tund with them. "Trace, Iko, this is Drexus. We're RTB, wrap up and let's get out of here. Drex out." Whether they were alive or not if they got the message or if they experienced anything like what he and Sah'ra had then they'd have come to the realization Tund was too far gone.

Making it to the ship he would wait for Sah'ra to enter before following behind, ensuring his team was still alive. It'd be a waste to lose someone on this planet.

Trace let her senses run over her "allies" and then over the reactor and the fighting. She could tell by the tone of their voices that they weren't planning to follow her out, and she wasn't going to argue with them. If they wanted to die here, that was their decision.

Trace followed swiftly to the reactor room, knowing they only had precious seconds to complete their objective or perish, and she had no intention of dying here.

Death and the scent of blood hung in the air as she dodged the abominations on the way to the reactor room, darting inside after the leader and moving over to the controls. She had learned how to overload a reactor as part of her training for the ISB, but that was usually ship reactors which were smaller and less intense.

She would lend whatever aid she could to the leader, guarding him as he overloaded the reactor before she would absolutely book it out, calling on the Force however she needed to in order to survive.

Only when the beast cried out, inevitable death approaching, did Sah’ra realise that she had begun to hold her breath. A massive exhale and she found herself awash with relief as she met the creature's final living movements, watching as its life was blotted out forever. It was a strange thing, how as it began to cross the veil she could have swore she had seen a glimpse of humanity. Almost as though it was grateful for its execution, like a tortured prisoner of war finding peace in death.

Black swirls of thick smoke billowed from the wounds Drexus had inflicted, dropping to the ground and spreading across its cold surface before dissipating in the air. This was something entirely new to the Sith woman, unable to deny a wild fascination over what had become of this ‘Sith Master’. What had the power to twist and corrupt so completely? Was this something that could be learned? Was this a culmination of talent and knowledge, or was the title of Master unearned in this case?

Drexus wasted no time in retrieving the weapon that had belonged to the one they had been dispatched to find but Sah’ra’s attention was drawn by another item; one that she theorized could well be a critical component in the abomination’s design. A crystal, darker than the night sky, clattered to the ground as the form of the beast began to dissolve away into nothing. Tender, cautious steps carried the woman over as she slowly knelt down to retrieve it. Fear dominated her for a moment, hesitant of what this crystal could do by touch alone but she forced it away. Looking upon the gem in her hand, so dark and lustrous that she could see her reflection even in the darkness that was Ud Zakrud.

The sounds of the other abominations closed in as Drexus made his retreat, Sah’ra’s eyes turning in their direction. Shadows appeared on distant buildings as they closed in, time running short, but as she prepared to return to the shuttle as well, her eyes met that of the old hag as she stood in the window. Whether she was a pawn or puppeteer in this game mattered little, a sly and arrogant smirk creasing Sah’ra’s lips. In the end, they survived. If only barely. Spinning on her heel, she would then race to the transport though she was unsure if this would be her final visit to Tund.

In their final moments, there was a sense of somber duty amongst the men and women around Trace. Each of them knew there was little hope of escape - and that their actions would spell their own demise. They knew it would destroy everything they’d sworn their lives to, from the knowledge stored within the Temple to the structure itself. And yet they carried on regardless, devoted to stopping whatever heresy their former leader has committed on the upper levels of the Tower.

As the main reactors began to fail, some of them fell down to their knees - their final moments spent in prayer to the Force. Some of them simple stared in awe - watching as streaks of energy began to arc between the reactors, building until it reached critical. The leader amongst them merely stared at what they had done - offering Trace a mere nod of his head as the Sith Champion moved to flee from the tower.

She would find her path back to the previous chamber largely unobstructed - save for a few easily-dispatched creatures along her path. Curiously, she would find one of them carrying a Lightsaber in its taloned hand - taken from the corpse of her fallen comrade. Whether she chose to kill the creature, take the weapon or keep moving was entirely at her own discretion.

The route out of the Tower was a simple one. The hole blown out of the side of the building gave her easy access to rooftops and parapets of the structure, allowing for a quick descent back the way she came. From her elevated position, Trace might catch a glimpse of multiple creatures roaming the open streets of Ud Zakrud - almost identical to those who attacked Sa’rah and Drexus.

Things were beginning to rapidly deteriorate by the time all three of the Sith made it back to their ship. Panic emanated from the people still alive in the Tower, and it was reflected in the frantic searching and appearance of their minions in the streets - the sound of their shrieks audible only a few blocks away. It wouldn’t take them too much longer to find their targets, but it was equally unlikely that the Sith would stick around much longer as it was.

Before they could begin lifting off from the city, the sound of explosions in the distance would undoubtedly draw their gaze back towards the Tower. As the reactors finally reached their limit, the stored energy was released in a destructive burst - colliding and chain-reacting with other reserve fuel cells and explosive material within the structure. The result was an almost blinding flash of multi-colored light from the Tower, as the upper two thirds of the structure were ripped apart from within. Rubble from the explosion was sent hurtling for miles across the city, fire erupting from the sites of collision and consuming the remaining tower.

Whatever had befallen the people of Tund, it was clear that the group of Sith simply didn’t have the means to investigate it further in the present moment. Only time would tell if they chose to return to the planet, but for now they would leave with more questions than answers - along with the weapons they’d acquired.

Trace wasn't going to stay around and analyze their devotion to their religion or whatever insanity this was. As they resigned themselves to death and fell on their prayers, she couldn't help but think how weak and pathetic they were. Devotion was one thing, but resigning to one's fate was another entirely. She wouldn't waste time or breath trying to change their minds.

She made for the exit without further delay, starting to move at full speed and only stopping momentarily when the presence of a lightsaber caught her attention. She skidded to a halt and didn't hesitate to seize the weapon for herself, leaving the mangled body behind as the mark of her earned kill.

She took the hole she had seen earlier and continued at full speed back to her ship, not hesitating to take off as soon as she was in the clear. She wasn't going to die here even as the eruption in the distance buried the tower. She left with more questions than answers, but even so, the trip had been worth her while. She hefted the lightsaber hilt in her hand. It would need attuning and modification, but it was one more step in the right direction.
