Coruscant

"Move! Move!" Firen called out in a somewhat squeaky voice as he dove between the legs of a pedestrian and slid around the corner. Normally he could lose pursers, especially in such a heavily populated area but the Imperial droids were much tougher to shake.

He stopped, panting slightly as his ears twitched in different directions before he darted down another alleyway. How was he supposed to know he was actually stealing the lunch of an Imperial Officer, an officer who apparently had an appetite for grudges much more than food. He wouldn't have even been in this mess if his crewmates hadn't stolen all his credits and left him here. If he ever caught up to them, they were toast!

Blaster fire sounded from intersection he had just come from but he was an extremely hard target to hit as long as he kept moving. Just then, from up in front of him, a small squad of soldiers stepped out in front of him blocking his path. He turned only to find himself blocked in from the back as well. This was it, he was a goner.

"Listen fellas." he said holding out his tiny hands to show he wasn't armed. "I think this is all just a misunderstanding." he said before the Officer stepping out from behind his guards, a smirk on his face. He wouldn't be so tough without his guards. He picked the Kushiban up from the scruff of his neck. "Pathetic vermin" the officer spat.

Firen's temper got the better of him. He was no vermin, though people often thought they couldn't treat him like a beast, probably because he was small, another sore spot for Firen. He twisted and bit down on the Officer's hand causing him to drop Firen and kick at him.

The kick sent the Kushiban flying several feet before he skidded to a stop against wall. That hurt, a lot. Firen was only slightly aware of the vibro-knife drawn from its Imperial sheath.

Coruscant was a rare travel for Mig. It was anti-alien, Imperial, and pretty much the center of his enemies. That said, he was not wanted or known so it wasn't exactly dangerous to visit. Mig thought a trip would help him see the galaxy a bit more and be able to study the culture of his enemies. It was truly fascinating. He had to leave his PIPE and Bowcaster on the ship to avoid attracting attention. Instead he had his more simple, legal gear on him as he wandered the planet for a few days. He was off trying to purchase some fun food to try when he saw a tiny creature, adorable really, run right through his legs and around a corner.

"Oh my! What a tiny friend!" Mig exclaimed as he followed it, only to find Imperials had cornered the poor thing.

The Gotal watched in horror as the tiny friend was abused and under threat. This is why his parents trained him to become a Rebel. The Galactic Alliance needed people to stand up to these horrible Sith. J0 was still left behind in the crowd, wondering why its master was wandering off. The droid had learned that Mig was a bit too curious and trusting. Even on Coruscant which was the den of their enemies. If he had lungs he would sigh before pretending to not know him.

"Hey! Leave that cute little friend alone!" Mig shouted, feeling extra brave today as he drew a pistol. "He's with me!"

In truth, Mig had never met the guy. Any alien being abused by the Imperial Republica was his friend though. This little guy was now his friend. It seemed Coruscant was too hot for him to survive alone. Mig already knew he would offer to adopt the little guy for his crew. At least to get him off the planet. These horrible guards would need to be cleared out first though and there were many of them. Mig would do what he could until they had to run. Probably very soon.

He pushed himself out of the dingy puddle he had skidded into, his fur a matted mess with grime. He looked up to see the Officer approaching slowly, a small amount of blood still dripping from the bite mark on his hand. He held a knife in the other as he stalked forward.

A defiant look filled Firen's eyes as he faced down the squad of goons. Just when all hope was lost, someone yelled from down the alleyway he had just come from. Friend? Firen didn't have any friends here. As the guards turned away for a brief second though a mischievous grin came over his face. Maybe he had found a friend.

Before they could turn their attention back to him, Firen bolted forward, grabbing the knife from the Officer who was not expecting the sudden attempt. The knife came free and Firen slammed it down on the Officer's foot, the blade getting stuck in the chipped pavement below.

With his back legs, he kicked up, hopping on the Officers shoulder before vaulting over another guard. The human-sized knife was too big for him so he dropped it. As it hit the ground he had an idea. "GRENADE! Watch out!" he yelled as he hit the ground and bounded towards the Gotal.

At least some of the guards had been fooled, already diving for cover. Firen let out a chittering giggle. "Come on!" he said, bounding on all fours towards the Gotal. They would only have a few seconds before they all realized they weren't dead but if the Gotal was half as fast as he was brave, it would give them plenty of a head start.

Mig simply blinked as he saw the small creature move so quickly. It seemed now Mig would need to follow this little guy through the streets to help him. That was fine, just to make sure he got away from those Imperials. Plus he had wanted to rescue the guy from Coruscant. When the kushiban was about to reach him, Mig fired a warning shot before starting to run and lead the new friend towards his ship. That would be a nice way to get out and avoid problems. The Gotal glanced over his shoulder to see they had slowly begun to chase but were all sorts of messed up for a moment.

"Okay! Follow me I know where to go!" He said happily as he turned a corner to head to the spaceport, reaching for his comlink with his freehand. "J0, meet me at the ship!"

A single beep that somehow sounded annoyed was all that came back. He'd be there. Mig knew his friend would come. That bot had been through a lot with Mig and it wouldn't be left behind. Once they got inside the ship, as long as no one spotted them, the two would be safe. Then they could all fly home. Well, maybe not to Mig's home. They'd have to see who this little guy was before bringing him directly to a Galactic Alliance base or even telling him they exist.

"Hi! I'm Mig!"
He said after another moment of running once they were side by side running.

Even though they were not out of danger, Firen was couldn't help but let out a howl of excitement as they rounded the corner. His village had nothing like this, everything was so boring.

He continued to bound through the crowded street, keeping up with the larger Gotal. "Right behind you!" he said, thrill obvious in his voice. He listened as the Gotal then called to someone over his comm device. A ship would be good. He was sure they could find a place to escape and hide on the impossibly crowded planet, eventually, they wouldn't be worth the trouble, though he had just stabbed an Imperial Officer. That probably didn't make things easier on them. Oops.

"I'm Firen. Thanks for the help back there." he said before jumping over a cart and then sliding under a speeder as they continued. Once beside him again he added "Though I had them right where I wanted them..." he said, letting out another chuckle.

His stomach growled as they ran. He hoped the Gotal had food, actual food, not the garbage humans normally ate. That's what had got him into trouble in first place.

It was amusing for the Gotal to watch the little one jump around and through things to keep up. Mig thought he was so cute and small. It was one of his cuter friends, even cuter than Eisa ( @Plebometer ) when she was angry. His ship was not far from here and it seemed they were quickly losing the Imperial trail thanks to the big distraction and many turns down alleys. A bit of confusion hit Mig as the rabbit-man spoke up saying thanks.

"I love to help! Though, I apologize for ruining your situation then. If you had them where you wanted them, I should have let you do it. Do you want me to take you back to them, friend?" Mig asked, genuinely concerned he had hurt the situation.

Mig stopped short of the spaceport to wait for an answer. He could see his ship up ahead but wouldn't force his new friend to come if he wanted to go with the Imperial Officer. The Gotal believed in freedom so it was the little guy's choice. This planet was not good for Mig anyways so he was happy to leave either way. Coming here was not as fun as he thought it would be for him. Humans here were quite rude to aliens.

"My ship is in there if you want to come though!" Mig added cheerfully.

He snickered at the sincere apology, almost crashing into an unsuspecting person's legs before dodging and the last minute. As they neared the spaceport, the foot traffic grew heavier. Instead of trying to dodge through people's legs he hoped and landed on the Gotal's back.

"Oh its okay!" he said waving his hand. "I can share the fun." he said snickering again. The Gotal said his ship was nearby. That worked for Firen, he had been looking for a way off of the smelly city planet before he got distracted by the Imperial's lunch.

"To the ship!" he said holding out his hand and pointing towards the spaceports. Maybe this guy knew some work he could pick up. Firen had become a half decent mechanic, being small had its perks on starships.

He was just about to ask where he was heading when Firen's stomach growled again. "You...uhh..don't happen to have any food on that ship do you?" he said sheepishly as his stomach rumbled again. He wasn't sure what his people ate, but he hoped it was good!

Mig's ship was a bit less than legal on Coruscant so he knew getting out after a chase might be a bit dicey. Getting in was easy enough to smuggle through but now things might be rougher. He was lacking the crew for the ship too which meant he'd need some help from J0 and this Firen fellow. Flying alone was easy. Even J0 the labor droid could push a sensor button when told what to do if he really needed it. So far it seemed clear though up to the spaceport.

"Stop them!" Someone shouted just as Mig entered the spaceport.

A moment of panic went by before the Gotal spotted the Imperials on their tail coming towards the landing area. Mig raced towards Antar's Fist, his ship, and boarded it quickly. J0 was already on board because it took a direct route rather than running all over the place. The ramp would close behind them as they entered and a few blaster shots would bounce off the hull harmlessly.

"J0! Co-pilot seat!" Mig shouted up to the droid then turned to Firen. "Do you think you can man a turret for us, friend?"

Mig examined his tiny friend and before he could answer Mig had an idea. He pulled an unarmed proton bomb from the bombing chutes and plopped it on the seat for the dorsal turret. That would make it so the small Kushiban could see and reach the controls easily. It was probably safe. Only out of danger they'd fix it and no one would need a turret. Once set, Mig would run to the pilot's seat and power up the ship so they could get going.

Firen's ears twitched back as someone shouted behind them. Still, on Mig's back, he turned back to see the soldiers pushing people out of the way. Guess that took away the rest of the choice to go with Mig or not. He needed to get out of here as soon as possible.

They soon came to the ship as shots began to sound out. As dangerous as it was, Firen laughed again, turning around he stuck his tongue out at the Imperial Officer before they disappeared into the ship.

He jumped down and followed Mig who asked him to man a cannon. No one had let him use the weapons on a ship before! "Yesssss!" he replied excitedly. He sat on top of the mine, oblivious to the danger that posed. The hud flashed to life and Fired giggled with excitement before spinning the turret around at the Imperials who had set up a perimeter around the ship. Cackling, he opened fire. He wasn't sure if he hit any of them, but it was enough to buy them enough space to take off. "Oh this is the best day!" he called out to no one in particular.

The bomber engines roared to life as Mig ignited them. It seemed the little guy did enough to give them some space for the moment. The Gotal Engineer even considered dropping a bomb as they went but he wasn't sure if it would ignite the one in the turret. Seemed to be not worth it for the moment at least. Mig glanced to J0 who was taking sensor data for the ship as they went. He smiled to his droid friend as they started to leave the city planet behind.

"Any interceptors coming for us or are we clear?"
Mig asked the droid who was hopefully going to beep a negative.

Beep.

Oh no. That was a positive beep. More things were incoming apparently. Mig wondered what it was and realized his co-pilot could only speak in beeps. That was not very helpful. He peeked over at the droid's console and saw there were two interceptors coming. Basically nothing that would stop them. Mig was confident in his new friend at the turret.

"We have incoming! Show them what you got!" He shouted to the turret behind him, then added. "And we have food for the hyperspace journey!"

Mig knew that would help motivate his already happy little friend. The Gotal began calculations for the outer rim. It wouldn't take long to get a nice route going and the pair could enjoy the comforts of the ship for a bit. Once these interceptors were off their tail or the navicomputer finished. Either way it would be fun.

He giggled as he spun the turret, this was the most fun he had in a long time. He stopped when he heard there were more coming. He didn't really know what he was doing. It couldn't be that hard. Plus, there was food in it for him he took out of the fighters. That was a good trade if he had ever heard of one.

He scanned the sky trying to pick out of the incoming fighters from the myriad of other ships moving through Coruscant. That became alot easier when they started shooting at him.

He started firing back. "Take that!" he yelled as he began firing back. This was harder than he thought. The ships were fast, but after a few seconds, he spun just ahead of the lead fighter and fired. The ship exploded. Firen let out an excited howl, unknowingly kicking his legs as they hung over the mine booster seat. "I got one! I got one!"

Mig kept the ship as stable as he could while trying to avoid fire and get to the escape vector. He heard the cry of success from the new little friend at the turret. That was a good win. Now they just needed to get away before the shields gave out on them. The Gotal pushed the throttle and made sure shields were powered fully before quickly running down to the other turret. A small ship like this meant it was basically within sight of the pilot chair. An unattended helm was ok for a few moments, Mig wanted to help fire a bit to discourage the enemy. Make it appear the ship was fully manned.

"Good job, friend!" He shouted as he jumped down into the seat. "That's pretty neat!"

A few shots to annoy the enemy interceptors came flying out of his turret, catching one off guard enough to destroy it. Snub fighters lacking shields were helpless against even simple turret fire. Mig loved this thing. Though he couldn't sit in the turret for long before some hits rocked the shields. He needed to get back to the helm! Mig climbed back out after his few shots and jumped back into the seat just in time to tip them down out of the way of a volley of lasers. The navicomputer was almost done.

"A little longer!" Mig chimed down happily.

He continued to fire, even Mig joined in and took one of the fighters. This was a blast! He was starting to get the hang of it. Firen winged one of the remaining fighters and it spun out of control before bursting into flames.

A shot shook the ship, sending Firen tumbling out of his seat. A few meters to the right and he would have been toast sitting on the mine. He looked up, seeing a flashing light on the mine indicating it was activating. The jolt must have shook it too hard.

"Oh no no no.." he said, his ears twitching frantically. Doing the only thing he could think of, he struggled to pick up the mine. It was heavy, REALLY heavy, but he could just barely lift it. He didn't have much time. "Open the ramp! Open the ramp!" he said, his voice urgent. "No no no no no." he said moving down the hallway as fast as possible.

He arrived just as the door was opening, and with all his rabbit strength, pushed the mine out of the back of the ship. He closed his eyes, waiting to be blown into small rabbit chunks but it didn't come. They were climbing but still in the atmosphere. The mine activated and propelled itself into the nearest fighter, the secondary explosion catching the other two.

Firen's mouth dropped open in surprise as the ramp closed again. How had that worked! He did it! They were safe! Several seconds passed before he burst out into laughing 'BOOM!" he shouted, making an explosion gesture his hands.

The bomber was meant for blowing things up. Mig was not expecting to see a bomb explode out the back at this moment though. Now the ramp request made sense. The Gotal has been a bit confused and did not have time to look while trying to escape. It seemed Peter rabbit’s mine booster seat had been activated by the guy sitting on it somehow. That could have been bad news.

A snicker escaped from Mig as he realised what had happened. The little guy had thought quickly and did some major damage to the Imperials chasing them. Mig knew they had to get out before they sent the big ships overhead. That’s trouble they did not need. His ship sang with some nice beeps as the navicomputer indicated it was ready for the jump.

“Here we go!” He cheerfully exclaimed as he pushed the light speed lever.

During the long flight, Mig would work towards recruiting the Kushiban. He knew that would be the best choice. They both would be wanted if anyone could identify them it seemed he was happy to fight the Sith. The Gotal was hopeful that he had found a good recruit for the rebels. It seemed Firen likely ate the same as Mig too. Mig and the crew ate a typical diet for Gotal but a Kushiban would also find it rather agreeable.

“Food?” Mig would offer simply as he walked back and popped open the storage.

As he made his way back to the front of the ship, Firen felt the subtle jolt of the hyperdrive engaging. He met back with the Gotal and his droid which he had heard Mig call J0 earlier. He looked up at the tall droid as it looked back down at him. He had limited experience with droids. He knew they were machines, but they seemed so real, just as real as anyone else. "Hi, I'm Firen!" he said to the droid as he tilted his head examining the tall droid.

He quickly turned to Mig. "Mig! Did you see that?!?! BOOOM!!" he said making wild hand gestures again "That will teach em' to mess with us!" he said laughing. Maybe next time they will just share their lunch with him.

Firen's eyes went wide when Mig opened the storage container. "Foooood!" he said as he picked up some of the food and hopped back a bit before plopping down on the floor and munching down on the delicious food. It had been almost five whole hours since he had eaten, it was a miracle he had survived. "So." he said, the sound muffled as he still chewed. "Where we headin'?"

Mig felt relief that they were finally off to light speed. No one would be following them now. The Gotal and his new friend could return to hang out with the rest of the crew. J0 had been so cooped up lately that Mig just had to bring him along too. He hated endangering the sweet guy. The droid did not talk, just beeped yes or no. It was quite the boring droid really. Mig loved it nonetheless though. When Firen greeted the labor droid all he got as a response was a monotone beep of acknowledgement.

"That's J0, my good droid friend!" Mig exclaimed with a big smile towards the droid who didn't even look at him.

Firen seemed excited about that boom. It was quite impressive and lucky. That's usually what people said about Mig himself. It seemed that they'd be good friends. The Gotal had not really seen the mine explosion so much as heard and felt it rock the ship. Results spoke for themselves though. He had to like the move no matter how dangerous and stupid it all was.

"That was great, friend! You truly know how to stick it to the Imperials!" Mig chuckled in his own awkward way as he replied and watched the Kushiban dig into some food. "Currently we are heading to Mataou! A wonderful planet in the far south outer rim. Quite the flight, but it is a safe home."

After a few moments, Mig could be seen counting on his fingers. He seemed to hum to himself as he considered the routes. He furrowed his brow a bit before looking back down to Firen. It became apparent that this trip would be quite long. His new friend would have plenty of time to be persuaded and be questioned. Mig would have this Kushiban ready to go before they reached Matatou.

"The flight will take about... 600 hours!" Mig's happy tone continued despite this horrifying news. "But that includes stops for food, fuel, and the refresher breaks!"
